Dean is driving alone down the empty road between large abandon buildings. He was talking to his brother on the phone as he looked around at his surroundings.
"I'm pretty sure of it now. We're hunting a Dijnn." Sam said as he looks at a book in front of him.
"A freaking genie?" Dean said.
"Yeah." Sam answered.
"Do you think these suckers can really grant wishes?" Dean said with a smirk on his face.
"I don't know. I guess they're powerful enough. But not exactly like Barbara Eden in harem pants. I mean, Djinn have been feeding off people for centuries. They're all over the Koran." Sam told his brother.
"My god. Barbara Eden was hot, wasn't she? Way hotter than that Bewitched chick." Dean started to ramble on.
"Are you even listening to me?" Sam interrupted his brother.
"Yeah," Dean cleared his throat. "So uh, where do the djinns lair up?" He asked getting back to the hunt.
"Usually ruins. Uh Bigger the better- more places to hide." Sam said.
"I think I saw a place a couple miles back. I'm going to go check it out." Dean said as he turned the Impala around.
"Wait- no, no, no, no. Come pick me up first." Sam said.
"I'm sure it's nothing. I just wanna take a look around." Dean said before he hung up on Sam.
"Kate, do you mind keeping an eye on the phones for a while?" Bobby asked coming into the living room. Kate was sitting behind the desk going over different rituals.
"Sure Bobby, where are you going?" Kate asked dropping her feet off the top of the desk.
"Just a supply run, it shouldn't take long." Bobby pulled his jacket on as he headed towards the door. "You know what to do right?" He stopped at the door and looked back at Kate who was now standing in front of the desk.
"I got it Bobby, If I can't tell off whoever is on the phone, I will just pretend I am your secretary and tell them you will call back."
"And?"
"I know where all the weapons are. I won't let anyone in, and I will make sure all the salt lines are good." Kate pulled out her cell phone, "And I have you on speed dial." She added, " Now go."
Bobby laughed as he opened the door to head out. Once the door was shut and locked Kate went back over to the desk.
Dean wakes up in the middle of the night from the TV being left on to some crappy old monster movie. He looks around the room not remembering where he was before, his eyes land on a sleeping woman next to him. And from the looks of it, she isn't wearing much.
Dean gets out of the bed, quickly dresses and leaves the room. Once he is out of the bedroom he takes out his phone to call Sam.
"Dude, I don't know where I am?" Dean said hoping his brother can tell him which motel they are staying at and he can go back to their room.
"Dean? What happened?" Sam asked.
"Well, the uh, the Djinn. It attacked me." Dean said as he went over to the window and looked out into the street.
"You're drinking gin?" Sam asked confused.
"No. The Djinn. The one we were after. It put its hand on me and then I woke up…next to some hot chick…"
"Who? Kate?" Sam laughs.
"What?" Dean said, surprised that his brother would think that, "No."
"Dean, you're drunk. You are drunk dialing me." Sam stated.
"I'm not drunk. Now quit screwing around and tell me where we are." Dean almost yelled into the phone.
"It's late. All right. Just get some sleep and um, I'll…see you tomorrow. Ok?"
"Wait Sam! Sam!" Dean called trying to keep his brother on the phone. Putting the phone back in his pocket, he started to look around the room. Seeing a pile of mail on an end table; Dean picks it up and look at them seeing the top envelope is addressed to Kate Evans from Lawrence, KS.
Confused that this mail had Kates name on it Dean looked at the rest of the mail in the pile. Two more envelopes we addressed to Kate, but the one after had Deans name on it with the same address as the ones for Kate.
"What the hell?" Dean said as he looked at the mail in his hands.
"What are you doing up?" A voice from behind him asked. Dean turned around putting the mail back on the table.
"Kate?" Dean said surprised that it was really her; he was seeing standing across the room in in shorts and a tank top. "I, uh, I just…"
"Can't sleep?" Kate asked.
"Yeah." Dean continued to stare at her. He hadn't seen Kate in months and he hadn't been nice to her the last time her saw her.
"Why don't you come back to bed? Maybe I can help." Kate said with a smile as she headed over towards him.
"Yeah, sure. In a minute. You go back…I'll be right there." He stuttered, unable to believe what Kate was saying to him. Yes they did sleep in the same bed together a few times before. But she was suggesting something else.
"Ok." Kate said as she reached Dean, "Don't stay up too long." And with that she was kissing Dean. It was quick, too quick for what Dean would have liked. And before he had a chance to kiss her back she was walking down the hall back to the bed room.
For a while Dean stood staring down the hall trying to figure out what the hell was going on. He couldn't remember anything and yet everything felt right to him. Dean headed over to the bookshelf and looked at the photos that were there. Most of them were of him and Kate, laughing or hugging. They both looked so happy in the pictures. Looking over at another picture on the shelf he picked it up.
It was a picture of his family…Him, Sam, their dad and their mom; all of them.
Dean dropped the picture, grabbed his jacket and headed out the door.
"Any phone calls?" Bobby celled out as he came into the house. Kate was siting at the kitchen table with a beer in her hand.
"Sam called." She said taking a long drink.
"How are they doing?" Bobby asked taking his jacket off and headed over to the fridge to get a beer for himself.
"He was asking about how to kill a Djinn." Kate said taking another long drink. "I looked at all the books I could find…there is some much different lore on them. I don't even know if I gave him the right information." Kate said. Bobby could tell she was shaken up.
"What did you tell them?" Bobby sat down in the chair next to her and put his hand on her knee.
"Out of all the stuff I looked through there were only a few things that kept repeating. A silver knife and lambs blood."
"That sounds about right." Bobby said getting up and going over to his desk to look over the books Kate had used.
"A silver knife dipped in lambs blood should do the job." Bobby said as Kate followed him into the room. "Good job kid!"
"Really?" Kate asked still a little worried that she gave Sam the wrong information.
Dean pulls out a flashlight as he starts walking down a hallway with Sam following behind him.
"Look there is nothing here, let's go." Sam says as he pulls on his brothers arm to try and get him to head back out.
"Shh!" Dean said as he turns into a large open room. "Stay behind me and keep your mouth shut." They walk to the other side of the room finding bodies hanging from the ceiling.
"What the hell?" Sam asked. "Dean, what's going on?"
Dean pushed his brother behind a flight of stairs as a door opens and the Djinn walks into the room. It walks over to one of the hanging bodies and touches their face. Blue flares go over the arm of the Djinn and onto the bodies face.
The Djinn leaves and Dean rushes over to the person.
"That's how the Djinn does it! But it doesn't grant you a wish, it just makes you think it had." Dean said.
"Let's go, that thing could come back." Sam said once again trying to get his brother to leave with him.
"What if I'm like her. What if I am tied up in here some place. This is all in my head." Dean said turning to look around the room before he looks at Sam.
"Look, Dean let's get out of here."
"I don't think you're real." Dean says pulling his arm out of Sam's grip.
"I'm real Dean. That thing is going to come back and we need to be gone." Sam yelled.
"There's only one way to be sure." Dean pulls out the silver knife covered in the lambs blood.
"Whoa, whoa what are you doing?"
"You know that old wives' tale…if you're about to die in a dream you wake up." Dean said with a sad look in his eyes.
"No, no, no. That's crazy Dean." Sam hoped he could talk his brother out of doing something crazy.
"Maybe." Dean says as he holds the knife out in front of him, as the sad look on his face changes to a look of determination.
"You're going to kill yourself?" Sam said moving towards him.
"Or I'm gonna wake up. One or the other."
