Chapter 20

No one's POV

"Shun! How many times should I tell you not to sleep on couch!" exclaimed Shiori, folding her arms.

Shun sat up when he heard his mother's half-yell. He had slept on the couch while working, again. His file which he was working at night, was still left open on the desk.

"Mom…? What happened…?" asked Shun as he rubbed his eyes. Shiori smiled as she remembered Shun used to say the same thing while rubbing his eyes when he was a kid. 'He's still the same' she thought.

She ruffled his hair and said, "You were late for breakfast so I had to come! It's almost nine! We have a lot of preparations to do!" she exclaimed and walked towards the door. Shun got up and went to his closet to get ready for the day.

As Shun went to the kitchen, he saw his mother and Alice sitting and chatting. He sighed. It's like a daily routine for him except today his grandfather was not there. He ran his hand through his damp hair and took a seat at the table beside his mother, which got their attention.

"Good morning, Shun!" exclaimed both the women looking at him. Shun nodded, "Morning… Where's grandpa…?" he asked. He was wearing black jeans. He smoothed his casual short sleeved, light grey tee.

"Well, Papa left few minutes ago. Surprisingly he didn't said anything about you being late" said Shiori as she served him breakfast. Alice poured some orange juice for him in the glass. Now, isn't he lucky to be served by two beautiful ladies…

"I told him you both were practicing the dance yesterday so he just nodded…" said Shiori while Shun sweatdropped, thinking his mother tells everything to his grandpa about him. Meanwhile, Alice helped the maids pick up their plates and carried to the sink.

"What do you think about marriage?" asked Shiori. Shun choked on his food. Shiori rubbed his back while Shun regained his composure and looked at Shiori questioningly. Shiori continued, "I asked that question to Alice…" and laughed.

Shun shook his head and sighed. Shiori smirked. "Why…? You thought I'm asking you that, eh… Shun?" asked Shiori teasingly. Shun looked away from his mother, taking the glass of juice.

"No" he replied, instantly. Shiori laughed at her son's actions. 'What a bad acting…' she thought and sweatdropped. Alice came back with a jar of water.

"How's the breakfast? Alice made it today" said Shiori, smiling. "It's good" replied Shun and nodded at Alice and drank the juice as he finished eating. Alice smiled in return.

"Ne, Shun…? Won't she be a good wife someday…?" asked Shiori, thinking. Alice blushed while Shun was already out of the kitchen, pretending he didn't hear it.

Shiori chuckled when Alice said, "Mom…? Here's the water… I'm going to my room…". Shiori nodded and stood up as Alice went out. 'It's so much fun teasing them…' she thought and left, smiling.

Shun's POV

'Mom is acting strange… Atleast, I'm not the target of her questions…' I thought. Anyway, we will be all at the party in the evening but grandpa is not coming. He left for some scheduled meeting out of the town. I had asked to accompany him but he said that I should go to the party instead… Besides, Marucho will be happy, so will his parents. I sighed.

I was in my room, sitting on my bed and working on a file. I pushed my glasses up. I just realized that I'm twirling my pen with my fingers… I sighed. This is what I do when I'm thinking too much. 'Mom seems happy now-a-days… and also too much excited today…' I thought and sweatdropped. 'All thanks to Alice… As I'm always busy with work, she had taken my place…'

I exhaled and removed my reading glasses. 'Now that I think… it's like she's a part of our family now… She's also good at making food… She's… Wait! I'm starting it again! Stop thinking!'

No one's POV

Shun ran his hands through his hair and ruffled it, roughly. 'This is getting annoying! I need to meditate!' he thought, frustrated. 'Why do I always think about her? Don't tell me-…'. His thoughts were interrupted when his mother barged in his room.

"Shun! …What are you doing…?" asked Shiori as she stared at him, dumbfounded. Shun looked at her questioningly when Shiori started laughing. Shun gave her a blank look which increased her laughter. Then suddenly she pulled her cell phone out and clicked. Shun blinked.

"Is this your new look, huh, Shunny? Anyway, I knew you would be doing office work! It's almost lunch time, come on!" asked Shiori and pointed at the mirror. Shun frowned and looked at his reflection. He had ruffled his hair too much while thinking that it had disheveled in a weird way. It made him look… funny. He started fixing his hair and sighed.

"Mom, delete that picture!" he said but Shiori had already disappeared. He followed her reluctantly and trudging through the hallway, he was once again in the dining hall. He glared at Alice, who giggled when he entered. Looks like Shiori had shared the picture…

Evening…

Shun stared at his reflection. He was wearing a dark suit; black dress shirt, dark grey vest and dress pants which were perfectly his size. He adjusted his dark green tie and sighed. His jet black hair was set perfectly, some of his fringes moved as he shook his head, falling on his eyes.

He had dressed quite well. It's a formal party and besides his mother would look unhappy if he doesn't show any interest and he don't want that. Well, he's an heir to Kazami Corporation, ofcourse…

Shun went towards his dresser and grabbed his watch; it's almost eight. 'Time to leave…' he thought and grabbed his dark grey blazer and put it on along with his black shoes. (A/N: - I'm not squealing! I'm not squealing! KYAAH! …Well, I can't hold back…)

Shun made his way down towards the living room. Some maids, who saw him as he walked passed them, blushed. It's a rare sight for them to see their master all dressed up for a party. He seemed shinning in their eyes while he walked with uninterested look.

"Hey, Shun!" greeted Alice, smiling at him. The sight of her made him pause and his heart skipped a beat. He blinked. He closed his eyes, frowning. 'No. Not this again!' he thought, referring to his unusual, unsettling feeling in heart. He exhaled and opened his eyes.

Alice looked him questioningly. She wore an emerald green formal gown which reached to her ankles. It was sleeveless and had thin straps over shoulders, thin golden lace just below her chest tied in a small bow while the rest of the dress flowed down. It hugged her perfectly. The dress was simple yet elegant and not revealing, to which Shun was relieved. Her hair was held up in a bun, some hair clipped with designed clip which had a flower with glittering silver petals and emerald crystal in the middle and a golden bracelet in left hand. She had a light make-up on. Her pink, glossy lips moved, indicating that she's talking.

"Are you alright?" asked Alice. Shun only nodded. "You look really nice! I haven't seen you like this!" exclaimed Alice and smiled at him. Shun's cheeks turned slightly pink at her compliment and looked aside. He was going to say something when…

"Oh, there you are, Shun! Look at you! All shining! Some girls might faint today!" exclaimed his mother. She was accompanied by a maid. Shun rolled his eyes while Shiori laughed.

"Right, Alice?" asked Shiori. Alice agreed with her. Shiori wore a royal blue gown with the sleeves reaching her elbows, which reach to her ankles. She also had a white shawl over her shoulders. Her hair was left down and light make up on her face.

"Alice you really are looking beautiful! Stand here" said Shiori and pushed Alice and Shun closer where they stood side by side. They glanced at each other when… 'Click!'

"…" Alice blinked while Shun frowned, "Mom!". Shiori just laughed and exclaimed, "That was great! One with me! Smile everyone". She stood between them and told the maid to take their photo. Alice and Shiori smiled while Shun hinted a small smile due to his mother's excitement. 'Click!'

"Let's go! We'll be late" said Shun and walked passed them, muttering, "This isn't a prom or something...". Shiori huffed.

"Well, you never went to prom!" she retorted. Both the ladies thanked the maid while Shun only shook his head and headed out the door, followed by both the ladies.

As expected of Marukura family, the party, in one word, is 'Grand'. They even have a separate 'Party Hall' as the previous one was small, according to Marucho's mother. There was a big chandelier hung above, gleaming. All high and mighty business people can be seen, standing and chatting among themselves. All the sophisticated stuff…

"DAN!"… Well, not all sophisticated.

Our heroes looked excitedly around. They came inside a few minutes ago, all dressed up. Well, as the colleagues of Shun Kazami and friend's with Marucho, they were aware of his reputation and they also have a part to hold their friend's reputation; that they knew, not that Shun cared anyway… But some things cannot be changed, like…

"Dan, can't you wait?" asked Runo while the others followed her. Runo wore a white, off shoulder gown with her hair down over her left shoulder, loosely held by black ribbon. There was a black broad lace around her waist which was tied at side of the waist into a flower pattern. She also wore white pearl ear rings and light make up.

"Shun said to go inside. He'll catch up later with them! Anyway, you look nice Runo" said Dan and stopped while the others catch up with him. Dan was wearing a formal suit; a white dress shirt with a maroon blazer, a maroon tie and black pants which looked surprisingly good on him. He had gelled his hair back. He grinned at Runo while Runo blushed. "You too…" she said. Dan laughed, nervously.

"They started again…" said Mira, referring to Dan and Runo a few feet away from them, as she walked with Ace, Julie and Billy. Mira wore a turtle neck maroon gown with slits ran across on both sides till thighs, showing her legs as she moved. Her hair was straight and curled inside. Her make-up was noticeable. She also had red lipstick, courtesy of Julie.

"But they are not arguing" stated Ace, glancing at Mira. Ace wore white dress shirt with a blue tie and dark blue blazer which almost look black and matching pants. His hair was set in a way that looks less disheveled than usual.

"She means that they started getting lovey-dovey again! Billy, how do I look?" exclaimed Julie behind them. She wore a shoulder less gown which was surprisingly in ice blue color with faint pink flowering pattern. Billy had been wondering about what had happened to a 'pink' obsessed girl. Her hair was tied in a loose bun, some hair spilling out of the bun, intentionally. There were also artificial flowers at the side of the bun with mixed ice blue and pink colors. She wore a silver necklace with the blue diamond in the center and matching ear rings.

Billy laughed. "You look great!" said Billy and smiled. He wore a light blue shirt with a black tie and black blazer and pants. There was a silver chain dangling from his belt on the left side which ran from front to back, making it look 'U' shaped.

"You too!" said Julie and smiled sweetly at him. "Now, who's getting lovey-dovey, huh?" asked Ace, smirking. Julie and Billy blushed. Mira shook her head went to Runo.

"Oh yeah… I just remembered! Weren't you saying that 'I wonder how Mira will look? I hope she doesn't look tom-boyish…' yesterday, huh, Ace?" said Billy and smirked at Ace. Ace looked at him dumbfounded while Julie laughed. Unfortunately for Ace, Mira heard it. What a payback Billy…

"I see" stated Mira, glaring at Ace. Ace retorted, "NO! I didn't say anything like that! It's a lie! In fact, you look beautiful!". He blurted out in defense without thinking. Mira blushed hard while his friends looked at him with wide eyes. He then realized the situation and cleared his throat, looking aside, hiding his pink cheeks.

Before anyone could say anything, Shun approached them with Alice. They noticed Shun had an annoyed look on his face while Alice looked at them with nervous smile. What caught their attention was, Shun was holding Alice wrist but let go when they approached. They all glanced at each other than at Shun and Alice. Dan started, "Uhh…"

"He didn't do anything, right?" asked Shun to Alice. "No. He said… 'You look alone, babe' when Mom went inside but then you came. There is no need to be mad…" said Alice as she patted Shun's shoulder. Shun sighed and looked at his friends.

"Hn. What's up?" asked Shun as his friends blinked at him. "…Nothing…" replied his friends.

"So, someone was hitting on Alice…?" enquired Runo.

"Ohh! Why wouldn't they? Just look at her! I'll not be surprised if the others started hitting on both of them! They look like models!" exclaimed Julie, referring to Shun and Alice. The others agreed, nodding their heads. Shun folded his arms and rolled his eyes while Alice looked at them, laughing it off. The others laughed at their boss's expression. But they failed to notice the new comer who approached them with a smirk on their lips.

"Having fun, aren't we…?"

I tried explaining their dresses even though I'm bad at it… Well, I made those dresses in my head and imagined how our heroes will look… I hope you guys understood the dresses while reading.
