Part 18:
Seeing as the night before had been the bonfire and most of the students had partied hard today happened to be one of those days were students and staff were off school for a teacher training inset day. Most students being thankful for this to cure theirs hangovers, get back on track with school work and study up hard for the upcoming tests.
For Sophia she knew she would find herself this day focusing her time on Derek and the supernatural drama. But as well as that she knew she needed to focus on her school tasks in hand when she couldn't be with Derek or her friends. The same friends who hadn't contact her all night after Jake showed up at the bonfire and basically ruined Sophia's night.
Rolling out of her bed, she straightened out the covers and repositioned the pillows until her bed was fully made. Going over to her draws, she opened up one of the draws and pulled out a grey oversized t-shirt throwing it over her body to cover her bra/knickers combo. She wondered out of her bedroom and headed downstairs making her way through into her kitchen.
She made her way over to the fridge, swiftly opening up the double doors and pulling out a strawberry yoghurt pot. Closing the doors with her hip, she walked over to the cutlery draw taking out a spoon and a cutting knife before she bent down to go in the cupboard below grabbing a square bowl out of it.
Standing back up she laid the items down onto the kitchen work surface and carefully she unscrewed the pot tipping the yoghurt liquid into the bowl preparing her breakfast. Once she was done, she went over to the fruit bowl in the centre of the kitchen island and took out a banana peeling it as she walked back over to her yoghurt.
Chopping the banana up, she placed the pieces into the yoghurt bowl and placed her spoon into the contents. Sophia hummed as she laid the garbage items down near the sink and made her way back upstairs to eat her breakfast thoughts of how much she hated being alone in this house racking through her mind. Although, it had somehow became familiar to her to be left alone in the house after her sister had gone missing and her parents were overseas.
She thought about her sister all day every day and felt guilty that whilst she was growing closer to Derek and continuing to live her normal teenage life, her sister was out there somewhere in trouble or god knows what other bad things could have happened to her. However, she knew that her sister was strong and could look after herself, she would surely turn up eventually but she knew that she couldn't wait around hoping forever. There would be a time when she would have to own up to her parents, her friends and the cops about her missing sister.
Sophia sat her breakfast bowl on her bed whilst she placed her phone on charge into her now turning on laptop and pulled the laptop onto the bed with her. Making herself comfortable on the bed, she began tucking into her breakfast and waited for her laptop to load up which only took a few minutes. When it had loaded up, Sophia began exploring round on her laptop, pulling up unfinished assignments and reports what were due in at the end of the week. She knew she would probably spend now and until Derek returned focusing on her school work.
On the other hand, Derek was making his way through an old abandoned warehouse where Scott had said to meet him. From behind him, he heard the sound of someone's footsteps and he spun around on his feet quickly. He was met by the face of Braeden who was already smirking smugly at Derek who raised his eyebrows up in confusion at her.
"What are you doing here?" Derek asked her as they both continued to walk where Scott was in the building.
"Scott called me in for back up" Braeden told him in which he nodded and she spoke up again "You sort out the stubborn teenager last night?"
"Her names Sophia" Derek corrected Braeden seriously not wanting her or anyone to talk about her like that. She was actually more than just a hormonal teenager to him. "She's fine, just forget it"
"If you say so" she said back strolling off in front going through a wide door entrance and over to where Scott and the others were huddled around talking. Satomi and her pack were crowded around looking terrified and hopeless, Scott and Kira were close by together their minds like clockworks trying to figure out their next move and Chris Argent was putting alarms around the place so everyone was alerted when intruders were there notifying them of the attack.
Scott glanced out of the window worriedly before turning back to everyone else and walking over to where Derek was stood, Braeden had now joined them just like Derek and was busy reloading her guns ready for battle.
"They'll be ok" Scott tried to ease the situation as Derek looked over to Satomi's pack with anxious eyes sighing as he did so.
"They've got claws and fangs but they're not fighters" Derek stated simply wondering past Scott and over to where Braeden was, Scott following aimlessly behind him.
"That's why I called you" Scott replied as Derek spun around to face him again his gun in his hand now, what Braeden had given him for defence instead of keeping Sophia's when he knew that it was her families and she needed it.
"Well try to remember, I don't have claws and fangs anymore either" he said smartly raising his eyebrows up at him.
"And that's why Scott called me" Braeden added confidently smirking at the three of them, Kira now joining in on the conversation.
"Am I the only one still hoping this is just a false alarm" Kira paused looking at Scott optimistic "I mean it's possible we could wait here all night and nothing could happen, right?"
Kira glanced over at Derek who instantly looked over at Scott with raised eyebrows in disbelief that this girl was really that desperate but Scott remained silent unsure of what to tell the girl.
"You heard anything from Lydia or Stiles yet?" Braeden questioned Scott changing the subject.
"Lydia is still talking to Meredith, Stiles and Malia are headed to the lake house, they're trying to stop it" he responded just as Brett approached them.
"What if there is no stopping it?" Brett paused as Scott turned to face him the others also looking at him now "What if it doesn't end till we're all dead?"
Everyone quickly fell silent; surprised that Brett would ask and predict such a thing when nothing had ever thought about what the consequences of this not ending. Obviously it had crossed their minds, but they never wanted to believe it would happen. They always solved any issue or drama going on so what about if this time was the same or worse, what if they couldn't stop it this time? Would they die?
"Then let's send a message" Derek suggested loudly everyone now turning their attention to him rather than Brett "Let's make tonight perfectly clear to anyone with a copy of that list, it doesn't matter if they're professional assassins, hunters or an amateur who's just picked up a gun" Derek pulled out his gun flashing it around to everybody "Anyone who thinks that they can hunt and kill us for money is gonna be put on another list, our list, they get to be a name on our dead pool"
As Sophia finished typing a sentence out on one of her assignment's for English class she placed the last spoonful of yoghurt into her mouth and ate the last remaining piece of her breakfast. Carefully she put the bowl and spoon together onto the bedside table so they were out of the way and she was about to get back to her assignment when the sound of the Skype incoming call came out from the laptop and into the room.
Frowning at the call, Sophia clicked onto the Skype icon onto the screen and her friend, Emily's name appeared on the screen before she clicked answer on the screen wondering why her friend Emily was calling her so randomly after last night's events. Moments later the screen loaded up and it wasn't long before Emily's face filled the screen, a friendly smile present on her no makeup filled face and she was too dressed in her sleeping attire with her hair pulled up in a high pony tail.
"Hi Em, what's up?" Sophia awkwardly asked not knowing if Jake had informed Emily of their little conversation last night and how pissed Sophia was with Jake for turning up like he did, mainly it being Emily's surprise.
"Oh yes, I'm good, no hangover thank god" Emily laughed lightly trying to ease the same tension Sophia was creating "I was just going to apologise for last night I was so rude, I didn't even think of how you would really feel seeing Jake turn up like that when you're clearly over him"
"It's fine, Em. It's not your fault" she replied giving her a small reassuring smile not wanting to have to bring up Jake again. She was hoping this week whilst he was in town would go super-fast.
"No Sophia. Like I just thought there might be something there still you know, you would be so happy to see him and spend time with him but it's been a year, of course you would have gotten over him and grown apart from the idea of ever being with him again. It was so silly of me, so all I want to say is I'm really sorry" Emily rambled guiltily fiddling with the tassels on her pyjama bottoms.
"Seriously, its fine, can we just forget it ever happened" Sophia proposed frantic to get over this already and move on from last night antics, if she could forgive Derek then she definitely had to forgive Emily's idea of a 'surprise'.
"Of course!" Emily beamed instantly changing her mood from saddened to ecstatic something Sophia liked about her best friend; the way that whatever happened she could bounce back from things and not dwell on them. "Are you doing anything nice today? Your house seems pretty quiet"
"Uh yeah" Sophia suddenly felt awkward again having to think of an excuse to make up about her families were abouts "I'm just doing some school work, my parents are away at the moment and my sister's off visiting my grandma again"
"Oh really? So you've got a free house then?" Sophia nodded slowly in response "You should so throw a pool party or just have us girls and guys over for a small pool gathering"
"Uh I don't know, Em. Everyone will probably still be hung over from last night" Sophia tried to get herself out of this situation because she knew she wanted to be with Derek today, however selfish it was to put him before her friends but she had to know he was safe and going to be ok.
"No I already checked with everyone, they're all okay just a few headaches here and there! C'mon it will be so much fun, we can chill by the pool, go swimming if you heat up the pool, have some drinks, listen to some music and just gossip, it will be like the good old days when your parent's would go away"
"I guess you're right" Sophia answered a bit more enthusiastic about the plans. Derek still hadn't gotten back to Sophia and god knows how long he would be until he would come back to Sophia. She could be waiting all day and maybe even night. If she just spent a few hours with her friends, distracting and enjoying herself from her anxiety about him then when he finally does get in contact with her she can be with him, it's a win win situation. "It's a deal. Get everyone to mine in say an hour"
The pool gathering was underway over an hour later thanks to Sophia's set up with the help of Emily and her boyfriend, Zack. There were a few sun lounges set out near the pool side, a wooden table against the wall near one of the back doors had an assortment of drinks alcoholic and non-alcoholic with snacks, a docking station with an Ipod stood beside them playing some music, towels were piled up upon a plastic chair, the pool's covering had been took off and the pool had been heated up so it was warm enough to swim in.
Everything was set up and ready to use including the whole group of her friends had arrived on time and in a cheerful mood ready to have a good time something Sophia desperately needed after what had been happening. Sophia poured out some drinks into some plastic cups and wondered over to the pool side where Josh, Gabriella and Stefan were sat dipping their toes in the water joking around with one another whilst Zack and Emily were floating in the water.
Smiling at the three of them, she passed them their cups carefully which they took and thanked her for at the same time. Wondering back over to the drink and snack table, Sophia poured out another drink for herself and was moments away from drinking it when the sound of loud greeting's and cheering came from the boys at the pool.
Turning on her heel, Sophia followed her eyes over to where they were looking and her smile dropped once she saw the person enter her back yard from the gate. They grinned and waved at the boys in the pool confidently making Sophia's skin crawl in annoyance. She trailed her eyes to where Emily was in the pool giving her a questionable look in which Emily uncomfortably shrugged in response knowing that Sophia wasn't too happy seeing her ex-boyfriend again. Especially at her own house.
Sophia sighed loudly to herself not wanting to cause a scene and kick Jake out when the boys were so happy to have him back even if it was for a week. So instead Sophia found herself downing the beverage in her hand, wiping the back of her mouth once she had finished, she binned the cup and went over to the spare sun lounger next to Kelsey's who was sipping on a cocktail through a straw a cheeky grin on her face. "What do you look so pleased about, did you get with someone last night?" Sophia asked making herself comfortable on the lounger.
"Not exactly. I was just thinking how good it would be to get Jake back, imagine his face if he ever saw you with Mr older bad guy" Kelsey giggled quietly raising her eyebrows up suggestively referring to Derek.
"Oh god don't. He would go crazy"
"What? D-man or Jake?" Kelsey asked looking at Sophia confused as Sophia bit down on her bottom lip unsure of what to say "Oh my god, does he know about Jake?"
"Kind of. He knows he's back and that he's my ex-boyfriend, he doesn't know that Jake tried to hit on me last night" Sophia told her friend placing her sunglasses on to her head and glaring at Jake through them who was now getting himself a drink.
"Oh god! Are you going to tell him?"
"It was only the one time and I dealt with it, it's not going to happen again so he doesn't have to know, I don't want to cause a drama over Jake, he's not worth it"
"You're totally right" Kelsey smiled at her friend proud that she wasn't letting her ex get to her and Sophia returned the smile before sinking herself down onto the lounger and shutting her eyes. "Speaking of Derekā¦"
Sophia's eyes popped open quickly and she turned her head in Kelsey's direction where she was holding out Sophia's hand to her with a smirk on her face. Taking the phone from her hand, she rapidly sat up in from the lounger, swinging her legs round the side of it when she noticed Derek's name on the screen and an incoming call from him.
"Hello, are you ok? What's happened?" Sophia answered the phone frantically trying to keep her voice hushed so her other friends wouldn't catch on but she didn't mind if Kelsey was in on it. She was the only one who knew about Derek.
"I'm completely fine since I can see this bikini on a stunning body and matching face, I'm one lucky guy" Derek chuckled huskily from down the other line causing Sophia to become incredibly confused as to how Derek knew what Sophia was wearing and what she was doing.
"What the hell? How can you see me?" she asked him looking around everywhere in her yard for any sign of him but there was no luck, Kelsey was also following her gaze around.
"I'm upstairs in your bedroom, come see me" Derek smirked making himself comfortable on Sophia's bed.
"What? Are you serious? Did you come through the window again?" Sophia found herself sharing the same smirk Derek was as she got up from the sun lounger, fixing the black kimono she had on over her body excited to see him.
"No I don't have supernatural powers anymore do I?"
"Of course, how could I forget that" she replied looking over at Kelsey and rolling her eyes playfully.
"Stop rambling woman and get your ass up here now"
"Whatever Mr Hale" She hung up the phone giggling at her conversation with him turning to face Kelsey with a blush. "He somehow got upstairs, so I'm going to go see what he wants and then I'll be back, keep an eye on everyone for me please"
"Of course, take as long as you want!" Kelsey wiggled her eyebrows up suggestively causing Sophia to laugh loudly and wave her friend off jokingly at her suggestion.
Making her way around the pool side, Sophia headed towards one of the set of back doors what were widely open; the curtains what hung from inside of them were blowing slightly in the breeze. Sophia was inches away from stepping inside the house to go and see Derek when a hand came in contact with hers and pulled her backwards into another body.
"You always looked so sexy in minimal clothing" Jake whispered into her ear roughly keeping hold of her hand tightly and pressing his front into her back causing her to huff loudly.
"You always were a creep" Sophia spat back at him yanking her hand out of him with force and not even bothering to turn back and look at him as she wondered off inside the house.
She hated how much Jake seemed to be getting to her over the past twenty four hours. He kept showing up wherever she was and she just so wished that he would return to his new home already. He couldn't seem to take no for an answer, Sophia was done with him and had been for a very long time. He needed to realise that sooner or later before Derek found out how badly Jake was trying to wiggle his way back into Sophia's life.
