Tali Camp-Ikana Canyon-Midday
The men trembled as they stared on in horror at the man walking towards them. Hours seemed to pass with every step Link took towards the camp. Ruul made his way to the front of his men, attempting to keep his composure to cease the panic in his men. The Deity stopped a few feet away from him.
"What business do you have here, warrior?" Ruul asked. Link gripped the double helix blade and planted it in the ground.
"I've come looking for information regarding the one you all follow and Princess Zelda. Perhaps you could be of some help?" Link inquired. The sound of a few men gulping could be heard. Link chuckled to himself, while Ruul let out a deep sigh.
"I'm afraid I cannot give you any information on Targoz or this Zelda you ask about. My men and I are merely occupying this land to protect from intruders." Ruul spoke. As he finished he felt the monstrous hand of Fierce Deity Link wrapped around his neck.
"This is your one opportunity to give me answers. I cannot guarantee your well being if you do not comply with my request. Do not make me spill more blood that doesn't need to be spilled." Link whispered into his ear as he began to hoist the general into the air. The action unnerved the soldiers as they looked on at their helpless captain, who was now at the mercy of this monster.
"I'll give you this, you have some guts standing up to me. Now this is the last chance you'll get. Where is Targoz and Zelda?" Link said as he tightened his grip. Ruul began to spit out words through the choke.
"Targoz…he's in…Southern Swamp..c..camp. I..I…do..don't know…about Zelda." he sputtered. Link dropped him, and Ruul quickly gasped for air and grabbed at his throat.
" I read your mind. I already knew that. I'm just glad that you didn't put your pathetic loyalty to a madman before the well being of yourself and your family. It would be a shame for your young son to no longer have a father." Link said in a condescending tone and began to walk away from the camp. Ruul glared up at Link.
"What makes you any different? You murder a handful of our elders and severely cripple our weapons supply, yet you think you are doing any good." Ruul angrily said back. Link stopped in his tracks and turned back to face Ruul. He began to make his way back towards him as Ruul staggered to his feet.
"When that man wears the mask of that demon who kidnapped my bride, I have very little reason not to resort to any means necessary to save her. If that includes crippling a military that plans to attack Clock Town for no damn good reason, then fine." Link roared.
"You've got to be kidding me. That lunatic wants us to attack Clock Town, while knowing he has your wife as a hostage. Does he not care about our chances of success?" A soldier chimed in. Link's eyes shot over to the man, not in anger but in confusion.
"Speak sense."
"Targoz believes there is a gain for the tribe of Tali if we assault Clock Town and take it for ourselves. We only go along with it because we just hope to gain some sort of respect for our own tribe. That damn King of Ikana has spread slanderous lies about our people and made us look as if we're savages. Targoz was somehow able to convince us that if we could take Clock Town, we could gain the resources to annihilate that King for his disrespect. We've been training night and day to prepare for the attack." Ruul stated.
"What do you mean lies?" Link asked.
"He has had his captain and his guards dress as members of the Tali and destroying his own property as a means to propose a reason to attack our tribe. We figured it was best to attack first and take out the best ally of the Kingdom, but the more we think about it. The more foolish we begin to see the idea was." Ruul replied. Link turned his head to the sky in amazment.
How could I not have sensed this?Link thought to himself. He put his hand out towards Ruul.
"I apologize for this. To make amends, how about…" Link said before the sound of horses could be heard making their way toward the camp. Captain Keeta and the guards of Igos Du Ikana were atop the horses, adorned in fine armor. They stopped their horses short of the camp and dismounted.
"Hello, you Tali piece's of shit. We're here to inquire as to why you all continue to attack our housing complexes." Captain Keeta spoke out cockily, as he and the guards moved in closer.
"Shut your mouth! You know what you all are really doing. Destroying your own property as propaganda against the Tali. We should kill you where you stand!" Ruul yelled out. Keeta raised his eyebrow and put his hand to his side to grip his sword.
"Is that a challenge?" Keeta said as he and the guards drew their swords. Link stepped out towards the Captain, shocking both the Tali and the Captain.
"You want a challenge? Then fine. You will fight me, Fierce Deity Link." He said as he reached and ripped the dual-bladed sword from the ground.
"So be it." Keeta screamed as he put his other hand on his hilt and charged towards Link. He swung clumsily at Link, Link jumped back and threw a kick into the back of Keeta, sending him flying to the ground. Keeta jumped back to his feet enraged, he swung once more, this time, Link caught the sword in the middle of the double helix. The Captain attempted to pull his sword out, but it was to no avail. Link gripped his hilt and began to pull. The swords separated into two, simultaneously snapping the blade into two. Both factions of men stood astounded at the display. Keeta looked on in horror at the sight before him he began to back away slowly, not taking his eyes off of Link. Link brought both blades back and swung. In one motion he severed the legs of Keeta from his body. He let out a loud howl. The guards rushed to his side pick him up.
"Now take him back to your King. The meddling of the Ikana Kingdom is over. You will not attempt to sabotage the Tali any further." Link said sternly. The guards with Keeta hurried over to their horses and departed back towards the Kingdom. Ruul and his men were stunned.
"You…You didn't have to do that." Ruul murmured.
"When I detect something to be suspicious, I will do as I please." Link answered.
Clock Town-Evening
The guard had made good on his promise sooner than later. He was able to sneak Zelda out so that she could get of the Tower for a few hours. Zelda had found herself wondering about town when she encountered street performers in the western end of the town. It warmed her heart to watch them perform. She had forgotten what it was like to just be a normal citizen, not a revered princess. She applauded as dancers finished their routine. They waved at her as she began to walk away. As she walked she began to notice something peculiar. The entire time she had been walking, nothing had moved, seemingly, time had frozen. She began to become worried when she heard a laugh come from behind her.
"Admiring the scenery, princess?" A masked Targoz cackled.
