Clary
A hand pops out in front of me in order to pull and hold open the door. I smile and wink at the golden eyes I fell in love with. We walk hand in hand to the big rounded booth holding all of our closest friends that are waiting for us. They all smile widely and greet us with hellos. Tonight's a big night. I'm nervous about what they all might think of Jace and I's big news.
I scoot in next to Izzy with Jace following right beside me. Following Izzy is her boyfriend Simon then Maia, a recent addition to the group, then Will, Will's girlfriend Tessa- which I still don't know how Will pulled that one off- and Jem. It's a nice and warm feeling knowing that we've all finally graduated from college and that we're all ready to head off to bigger and better things.
"You guys are quite late." Izzy takes a sip of her raspberry tea.
"We all know why they're late Isabelle." Will winks at her and Izzy just scoffs. I hide the red from my face as best as I could but even though what he's implying isn't true I don't succeed.
We all order and eat and just catch up on everything that's going on in everyone's lives. With only a few more inappropriate comments from Will and a couple of drinks in our systems we all settle down after our meals.
"Anyways." Simon sneaks in a glare at Will after whatever uncalled for thing he just said and then looks to Jace and I. "You called us all here. The question is for what?"
Everyone seems to lean a little closer to the table as if I'm about to tell them a secret that could change the world. Well, I guess it could change their world. They've all known something big was about to happen for Jace and I but the two of us had successfully kept it to ourselves in order to preserve the excitement.
"Do you want to tell them?" Jace whispers in my ear and I just smile at him. He already knows I've been waiting the past three days to spill the beans.
I clear my throat. "So as you all know, I've been interning for the Laura Korman Gallery down in Santa Monica for quite some time now." I pause making sure everyone understands the words coming out of my mouth. "Well my boss somehow found a couple images of the works I've created and she submitted them to the Modern Art Gallery in London."
"Oh my gosh!" Izzy squeaks and reaches over to squeeze my hand. "That's incredible, I'm sure the people there will just fall in love with your art." Maia and Tessa smiles and nods her head in agreement, the others don't look so impressed.
"Well, the thing is, they actually kind of already do." My smile widens. "They want to display my work in their gallery and they want me to fly over there to be there for the showcase."
"You're going to London!?" The boys seem to all say at the same time. I can hear Jace chuckle beside me and then I feel his warm lips press up against the side of my head. "For how long?" Simon asks.
"Well for now just a couple weeks to get everything situated and set up for the showcase." I pause and take a deep breath. "But if everything goes well and a lot of people enjoy my work then they want me to live there and create new pieces to display."
The table is bustling with excitement now and everyone seems to have loads of different questions. It's all very overwhelming but Jace grabs my hand a little tighter and I don't feel so bombarded.
"Why don't we take this conversation back to our apartment so we can give this poor restaurant their table back." Jace suggests and everyone immediately agrees and throws their money on the table so we're able to leave.
After about twenty minutes of questioning from everyone I seem to have satisfied everyone with my answers. I'm way beyond excited that everyone is happy for Jace and I, especially Izzy considering we've become very close over the years.
A throat clears and everyone turns to look at Jace. He's scratching the back of his neck and he looks very uneasy.
"What's wrong?" I immediately step forward to put a comforting hand on his arm.
"Nothing I uh… I just…" He stutters out. He shakes his head like he's clearing it and clears his throat. Taking a deep breath he lowers to the ground on one knee. At first I think he's about to fate but then I realize he's looking up at me with teary eyes and my and flies up to mouth as I gasp.
"I knew this day would come the second I laid my eyes on you the first night at the beach." He starts. "You're everything to me, you bring the sunniest of days to my darkest hours. There's never a moment when I doubt that I love you and that I want to grow older with you. I want to go with you on this adventure and all the other adventures you decide to go on. I promise, if you let me, to be the greatest I could ever be for you." He steps up to wipe the falling tear from my face and he pushes the falling strand of hair in my face back behind my ear. "Clarissa Adele Fray, I love you and I will love you more and more with every day to come, please do me the honor of becoming my wife." A black velvet box appears in his hand and I see and a round cute diamond engagement ring appears in the center.
I can't speak so I just nod and then I kiss him and he kisses me. I can feel his smile on his lips and lean back to look at which cause me to smile in return. He grabs my left hand and slides the ring onto my ring finger.
"This is amazing." I hear Izzy whisper and then I remember that it's not just Jace and I here. I turn to everyone and the girls come to engulf me in a big hug.
I see Will, Jem and Simon all shake hands with Jace in their way of showing congratulations. The urge to go over to Jace and just be alone is very strong but I know that there's no rush. Now we'll have forever.
Jace
"That's a big step man, are you sure you're ready to take it?" Will stands and crosses his arms.
I tear my eyes off of Clary, who's standing in the center of the other girls while they all look at the sparkling object on her finger.
"No." I smile at Will. "But as long as she's there I know I can do anything."
Will rolls his eyes but smiles with me. "Smooth move with sending the pictures of Clary's work to her boss by the way. You really did a good thing with that."
My eyebrows crinkle. "How did you know?"
"Oh please, that kind of thing doesn't just happen. And plus I know you, you want to make the ones you love the happiest." He nudges me with his shoulder.
"She deserves it." Will nods in agreement. "She deserves everything."
Will scoffs. "Okay enough with the cheesy shit, let's have a drink." I laugh as he makes his way to the fridge and pulls out the champagne Izzy bought for Clary right after we left the restaurant. Once everyone is poured a glass I make my way back to Clary and wrap my arm around her shoulders. She smiles as I kiss the top of her head. This is exactly where we're supposed to be.
Wow. So um... long LONG time no see. Don't hate me, I know it's been over a year and I don't really have an excuse besides writers block and bad memory but don't hate me. I hope most people still even follow this story considering it's been so long. But here it is! The very last piece to this story. Now I can finally sleep at night knowing this is now complete.
To be completely honest with you I sort of fell out of writing. I wasn't doing too good in school or in whatever my social life was but I'm happy to say that things have turned back around. I want to start writing again and I'm hoping to have your guys' support. For those of you who have stuck with this project and waited all this time, thank you so much and I'm sorry it took this long.
You guys are literally the best and I hope to hear your final thoughts or even if you just want to chew me out for being gone so long!
