Episode 20
SCENE 1
(Camera fades in from black to Patsy and Ty lying in bed together. Camera zooms in on Ty's face as he wakes up. He looks around confused for a moment until he realizes, where he is. He quickly checks that she is still sleeping, then he gets up. He sneaks towards the door and quietly makes his exit.)
SCENE 2
(Camera cuts to the café, where all the Mall Rats have gathered. Some of them are still eating, but most are just waiting for Amber to speak. She gets up and all conversation dies down.)
Amber: It's been three days without sign from Brady now. It's clear now that someone must have seen something, but isn't coming forward.
Bray (gets up): We have reason to believe that the Chosen might be involved.
Kayla: Why? The Guardian was a fruitcake in a cage.
Bray: Because Brady was taken by the Chosen before. Maybe they decided to start again without the Guardian.
Ram: But anyone could've taken her.
(Ryan enters the café from the entrance hall.)
Ryan: Lex has seen the Guardian in the city. I thought, he should tell you himself, but it looks like he's gone.
Amber: What do you mean, gone?
Ryan: He's not in his room.
Amber: Has anyone seen Lex?
(Nobody has.)
Amber: Oh no.
Bray: He's gone out to drink, hasn't he?
Ryan: He seemed to be doing okay.
Bray: We have no time for this.
Amber: We're having another meeting with the tribal leaders today. Not only because of Brady, but we also want to warn them about the Chosen.
Ram: Don't you think that's a bit early? We have no proof it's actually them. Just the words of a drunkard and a suspicion.
Amber: Once we do have proof, it might be too late.
Patsy: Will they even take us seriously without proof?
Bray: We'll have to try.
Amber: And… if anyone goes out to look for Brady, please be careful. Never go alone. The same goes for the work party heading to the farm.
Kayla: We'll be careful.
(Ryan takes a seat at a table with Cloe and Patsy. Camera moves in on them.)
Ryan: I can't believe he went for a drink. He was doing so well.
Cloe: He was behaving really great around Tai-San as well.
Patsy: Maybe he didn't go drinking. Maybe he's out looking for Brady.
Cloe: He doesn't care that much, does he? He wouldn't go in the middle of the night.
Ryan: He might, but I think it's more likely he's lying drunk in a ditch again.
(Camera cuts to the next scene.)
SCENE 3
(The storage room is dark, but we can still see Lex and Cloud sitting next to each other. Both of them are chained to a metal shelf with handcuffs.)
Lex: Well, this is the last thing I would've expected, when I came here.
Cloud: What is?
Lex: Ending up as a prisoner next to you of all people. I thought you were the leader.
Cloud: So did I.
Lex: What happened?
Cloud: Tilly or Jaffa. I don't really know. Tilly brought me down here and locked me in, but I think Jaffa has taken over as the leader.
Lex: The Guardian. He has total control?
Cloud: I think so. If he has Tilly on his side, he must have total control.
Lex: What about Tai-San?
Cloud: Oh, he's taken an instant liking to her. Said, he knew her from before, when she was with you guys.
Lex: So that's why she hated us. Because he filled her head with garbage.
Cloud: You seem to know him well.
Lex: Kind of.
(Lex starts explaining the Chosen to Cloud as the camera cuts to the next scene.)
SCENE 4
(The Chosen have gathered in the theatre. Everyone is kneeling in front of the Guardian and Tai-San. Brady stands in between them, looking at her feet.)
Guardian: The time has come, brethren. Now that we have the Divine Child with us, we can move on to the next step in Zoot's plan. We know there will be a meeting of the tribal leaders later today. It is of uttermost importance to capture all of the leaders and bring them here. If any of the tribes try to resist Zoot's will, we will have their leaders to convince them.
Jasper: It's time to reveal ourselves?
Guardian: Once we have the tribe leaders, yes. If we have them, there won't be much resistance from the rest. (He raises his crossed hands.) Power and Chaos!
(The Chosen rise and mimic the gesture.)
Chosen: Power and Chaos! Power and Chaos!
(Brady tries to steal away as they continue to chant, but Tai-San grabs her by the shoulder.)
SCENE 5
(Cut to Ty's room. He is getting dressed as Paul enters. When their eyes meet, they both smile. Paul walks over to him and hugs him from behind, pressing a kiss to Ty's shoulder.)
Paul: I love that I can do that now.
Ty: Me too.
Paul: How did it go? Was she very angry? Did she cry?
(Ty doesn't answer. Instead he frees himself from Paul' embrace and puts on a shirt. Paul turns him around, so he can speak to him.)
Paul: Does she hate me?
Ty: I…
Paul: You did tell her, right?
Ty: I couldn't.
Paul: You couldn't, or you didn't want to?
Ty: She told me, she loves me. I couldn't break up with her then.
Paul: You have to talk to her.
(Paul stares at him with a hard expression, then leaves. Ty looks after him, looking hurt.)
Ty: It's not that easy.
(Camera cuts to next scene.)
SCENE 6
(Tai-San is lying in her room, taking a nap. She's writhing around as she's having another dream.)
(Camera blurs and comes back into focus. The Guardian and Tai-San are standing in front of the school surrounded by Chosen. They are chanting Power and Chaos. The Mall Rats are kneeling in front of them with their hands bounds.)
Guardian: This is the death of the Unbelievers. Perhaps Zoot will have mercy on your souls in the Great Hereafter, but you must repent now.
Chosen: Repent! Repent! Repent!
Trudy: Please, don't do this, Guardian! I am her mother.
Guardian: Silence!
(A guard hits her hard over the head, knocking her out. She's only held upright by the guard behind her. Brady screams.)
Guardian: Lies! Repent now and Zoot will be merciful.
Bray: You're going to hell, Guardian!
(The Guardian smiles and nods at the guard behind Bray. The guard takes a dagger and slices Bray's throat without hesitation. Brady and the other Mall Rats cry out as the blood splatters over the ground and Bray's lifeless body falls forward.)
(Camera cuts back to Tai-San sleeping. She wakes up with a start, breathing heavily.)
SCENE 7
(Camera cuts to the farm. Kayla, KC, Ellie and Cloe are sitting on some hay bales, taking a break from the work.)
KC: The Chosen? Are you sure?
Ellie: Not sure, but it's a possibility.
KC: I would've been happy never to see that creep again.
Kayla: You haven't seen anything odd out here?
KC: No.
Cloe: Do you think they're hiding out here?
Kayla (shrugs): Could be. No one has seen them in the city at least.
Ellie: Not yet.
KC: Maybe it's not even them. Maybe it's just us being paranoid.
Ellie: I'd rather be paranoid then caught off guard.
Cloe: I agree. They killed Dal and Danni.
Ellie: And Ned.
Kayla: And loads of other people too. (she stands up) We should get back to work. Worrying will get us nowhere.
(The others follow her back to field and pick up their work again.)
SCENE 8
(Camera cuts to the entrance hall of the hospital. Cal and Cara are sitting on the sofas as Lottie and Sammy enter.)
Cara: Looks like she actually talked him into it.
Cal: He doesn't seem convinced to me.
(Lottie and Sammy stop in front of them.)
Lottie: See, Cal and Cara are here. Nothing will happen to us if we go out and look for Brady.
Sammy: But what if the Chosen really are back?
Cara: Then we beat them up, Sammy.
Sammy: They are stronger than you.
Cal: Nah, Cara is pretty strong and she's mean.
Lottie: How about we won't go too far?
Sammy: That's useless. I don't want to hold you back.
(Cara rolls her eyes. She grabs Sammy and drags him out of the door with her. Cal and Lottie run after them.)
Lottie: Cara, that is not the right way to do this!
Cara: We'll see.
(Sammy struggles a bit, but Cara is stronger than him and she drags him halfway down the road until she stops. Sammy is breathing heavily, looking all around him, but slowly he calms down.)
Cara: See, there's nothing bad out here, Sammy. No one will get you.
Sammy: Are you sure?
Cal: Doesn't it feel good to be out here again?
Sammy: Kind of.
(Lottie takes his hand and squeezes it.)
Lottie: Let's go a bit farther.
Sammy: Ok.
(Cal pats his shoulder as the four of them walk into the city.)
SCENE 9
(Camera cuts to the gym of the school, where the Forum meets. Most of the tribal leaders have already gathered as Bray and Amber enter. Debra gets another chair and sits down.)
Alpha: How did we get the honour of having both Mall Rat leaders here?
Amber: This is serious, Alpha.
Alpha: Why? It's just a kidnapping. The girl will turn up again sooner or later.
Bray: It's not just about Brady anymore.
Leanne: What happened now?
Amber: We think the Chosen might be in the city. They might be the ones behind the kidnapping.
Tilly: The Chosen?
Bray: They are fanatics. They tried to rule our city ones. Took everyone as slaves and killed those who opposed them. They believe in a god, they call Zoot.
Gordon: Never heard of them.
Noel: I have.
Alpha: Me too. Only bad stuff.
Leanne: Why do you think they are back?
Amber: They took Brady before. And Lex saw the Guardian, their leader, in the city.
Tilly: Why did they take her?
Bray: Brady is Zoot's daughter. They worship her.
Alpha: Didn't you say, Zoot is their god?
Bray: Yes, but before that he was an ordinary boy. He led a tribe called the Locos in our city. The Guardian used him for his cause.
Tilly: You say, Lex saw him? When was that?
(Amber and Bray exchange a quick glance before the camera cuts to the next scene.)
SCENE 10
(Camera cuts to the outside of the school. The Guardian is leading the Chosen towards it. They are now wearing the Chosen uniforms from Season 3 and have spears. From a different street Felix leads another group of Chosen to the school. The city kids that see them scatter.)
Guardian: Take all of them alive, but use force if you need too.
(As they prepare for an attack, the camera cuts to the next scene.)
SCENE 11
(Ty is pacing in his room, practicing his speech for Patsy.)
Ty: Look, I'm really sorry, Patsy... No. I have to tell you something, Patsy. I like guys. I'm gay. No, too forward. I'm… I like someone else. Patsy, we have to break up. I'm sorry.
(A knock on his door makes him jump. He takes a deep breath and opens the door. Patsy flings herself at him as soon as she sees him. Surprised, Ty stumbles back.)
Ty: Patsy, what happened?
Patsy: Sorry. I just… (sniffles) I'm scared.
(He sits her down on his bed and takes her hand, not being able to just watch her cry.)
Ty: Scared? Why?
Patsy: All this talk about the Chosen. You don't know how it was. They wanted to kill me, Ty.
Ty: Hey, that's not happening now. We don't even know if it's really them.
Patsy: I know it's them!
Ty: They won't hurt you, Pats. I won't let them and neither will Paul or the others.
(She wraps her arms around him.)
Patsy: I wouldn't know what to do without you.
(Ty rubs her back, not knowing how to respond to that.)
SCENE 12
(Camera cuts to Tai-San. She's sitting in her room surrounded by candles and essence, but she's not meditating.)
Ellie (VO): The Chosen were fanatics, believed Zoot was some kind of God. Everyone who didn't agree with them was either executed or made a slave.
FLASHBACK
(Camera cuts to a close up of fire, the crackling is almost draining out the chanting. The camera zooms out to show it's a pyre. Bray is lying on it; the flames haven't quite reached him yet. The Mall Rats are kneeling around the pyre; everyone being held down by a Chosen.)
(Cut to Trudy kneeling in front of the camera. She's crying and begging as Jasper puts a knife to her throat. The Guardian steps in front of the camera.)
Guardian: It's your choice, Supreme Mother. Kill the imposter now or let the fire free her of her sins.

(Tai-San looks down at her ceremonial dress and picks at the fabric, unsure if she's doing the right thing.)
SCENE 13
(Camera cuts to the school's gym, where the tribal leaders are still discussing the matter of the Chosen.)
Leanne: You're saying, Lex was drunk, when he saw him?
Tilly: You have no real proof that the Chosen are here. That's just fearmongering.
(The doors fly open and the Chosen run inside, grabbing the tribal leaders. Alpha puts up a real fight and is able to knock a few Chosen out, but he's overpowered eventually. The others fight back as well, but there are just too many Chosen. Noel gets knocked unconscious in the process. They are brought to stand in front of the Guardian and Tilly takes a position next to him, smiling smugly at the other leaders.)
Tilly: Well, maybe Lex wasn't hallucinating after all.
Leanne: You're in league with them?
Alpha: I always knew you couldn't trust the Astros.
Tilly: The Astros are no more, Alpha. It's just the Chosen now. The same will be happening to all of your tribes.
Bray: Never!
Guardian: Ah, Bray, it's good to see you again.
Bray: Is it?
Guardian: Seeing you like this gives me immense pleasure. I'm looking forward to instruct you in the beliefs of Zoot.
Bray: You tried that before.
Guardian: Yes, but this time I have a better argument.
(He moves so he is right in the face of Amber, who's struggling against the guards holding her. The Guardian wraps a hand around her throat and starts choking her.)
Bray: Amber! No!
Guardian: You see, I know all your weaknesses. I have the Supreme Mother and the Divine Child. You cannot stop me.
Bray: Let go of her!
(Amber's face starts turning red as the Guardian won't let go. The other leaders shout at the Guardian now too, but it's not until her eyes roll into the back of her head that he finally lets go. Amber's head falls onto her chest, but she's alive.)
Bray: Don't you ever do that again.
Guardian: Or what?
Tilly (slaps Bray): Don't threaten the Guardian!
Guardian: Let's move!
(The Chosen move out, pushing the captives forward and carrying Noel and Amber.)
SCENE 14
(Camera cuts to the café, where Ram and Ruby sit with Jack, who's half-heartedly playing with Wylla.)
Ruby: I hope that meeting does something. The tribe is a mess right now.
Jack: Me too. I hope they're back soon.
Ram: Shouldn't be too long now. They've been gone for a while now.
Ruby: The only good thing this has brought us, is Sammy going outside.
Ram: He did?
Ruby: I saw him leave with Cara, Lottie and Cal earlier.
Ram: That's good.
Jack: How's Trudy?
Ruby: I haven't been to see her. I thought it'd be best if Ryan, Amber and Bray did that.
Jack: I can't imagine if it were me and they had taken Wylla.
Ram: No, but she isn't even really yours.
Jack (throws him a dirty look): Perhaps not biologically, but yes, she is.
Ruby: That must be horrible. I remember how I felt when Sammy was lost. It must be million times worse, when it's your own child.
Jack: And you have been through that before.
Ram (holds up a walkie-talkie): I better check in with Ryan. Guard duty.
(He leaves and the camera cuts to the next scene)
SCENE 15
(Camera cuts to Gel and Darryl, who are taking a walk in the city. Some city kids are running towards them from the direction of the school. Darryl stops one of them, as he realizes they all seem to be running from something that frightens them.)
Darryl: What's going on?
Kid: People with spears at the school.
(He breaks free of Darryl's grip and continues to run.)
Gel: At the school? That's where Bray and Amber have their meeting, isn't it?
Darryl: Nobody is allowed to carry weapons anymore. Not even on the Squad. (he grabs Gel's hand) Come on!
(The start running towards the school, dodging the kids that run in the opposite direction.)
Kid: You're going the wrong way, idiots!
(They don't listen to the shout. They turn a corner and bump into another group. It's Cal, Cara, Sammy and Lottie.)
Cal: You heard about it too?
Darryl: Something going on at the school. It has them all spooked.
Cara: We heard.
Gel (puts a hand on Sammy's shoulder): You okay?
Sammy: I'm fine.
Cal: Let's go then. Bray and Amber might need our help.
(The group continues to run towards the hospital.)
SCENE 16
(Camera cuts to Tai-San leading Brady up a flight of stairs until they reach the roof of the cinema. Brady digs her heels in as Tai-San tries to lead her closer to the edge.)
Tai-San: Whatever is the matter, Brady?
Brady: You're going to throw me off the roof.
Tai-San: Of course not. You're too important to the cause.
Brady: I don't believe you. You're a liar!
(Tai-San kneels down, so she's level with the little girl.)
Tai-San: I'm sorry about that. The Guardian must be obeyed.
Brady: No! He's a liar too!
Tai-San: How do you mean?
Brady: Everything he's saying about Daddy. It's not true.
Tai-San: How do you know?
Brady: He's my Daddy! Duh!
Tai-San: But he's also the great Zoot.
Brady: You think I don't know anything, do you? I know he took me away from Mummy before. He's a looney.
Tai-San: Did the Mall Rats tell you about that?
Brady: Yes.
Tai-San: What else do you know?
Brady: I'm not telling you. You'll just tell on me and then he gets angry.
Tai-San: You don't have to worry about him. I'll protect you.
Brady: I don't believe you. You're a liar.
Tai-San: Brady, there's a lot of things going on that you don't understand. I didn't mean to lie to you or to hurt you.
Brady: Then you shouldn't have done it.
Tai-San: I need you to tell me about the Chosen, how they were before.
Brady: I don't know much. Just that they took me and Mummy and they made Mummy and Salene believe all this stuff about Daddy. And the man is bad. He did bad stuff to all our friends. He sent them away and he killed them.
Tai-San: Are you sure?
Brady (nods): Mall Rats are good. They never do anything bad. Lex and Ram do sometimes, but Uncle Bray wouldn't let them do anything really bad.
Tai-San: You can't tell any of the other Chosen about the Mall Rats, Brady. They will think you're being difficult. I'll keep you safe.
Brady: Liar.
(Tai-San sighs as Brady glares at her.)
SCENE 17
(Camera cuts to Gel, Darryl, Cara, Cal, Lottie and Sammy, who arrive at the school. They quickly step back into the alley, when they see Chosen guards positioned outside.)
Gel: I can't believe it.
Cal: What is it?
Gel: The Chosen. It really is the Chosen. I thought, I'd never have to see them again.
Cara: Something is happening.
(Camera pans back to the school. The guards step aside as the Guardian leads his Chosen out with the captured tribal leaders. The first ones are Noel and Amber, who have to be carried. Camera pans back to the hiding Mall Rats.)
Lottie: Amber!
Darryl: They wasted her!
Cal: And Noel too.
(Camera pans back to the Chosen. After Amber and Noel, the others are brought out until Bray and Alpha are the last ones. Tilly walks right behind the Guardian.)
Cara (VO): Of course she is in with them. That witch!
Cal (VO): They're probably bringing them to the cinema.
(Camera pans back to them.)
Gel: We should tell the others.
Cal: Agreed. Sammy, Lottie, you two go back to the hospital and tell them. We'll follow them. Maybe we can get to Bray before they reach the cinema. We won't be able to do anything once they have him inside.
(The younger kids nod and quickly, but quietly disappear down the alley. Cal motions for the other three to follow him and they carefully sneak after the Chosen.)
SCENE 18
(Camera cuts to Paul walking through the corridor. He stops in front of Ty's door. He hesitates for a moment, then walks straight in, but stops immediately, when he sees Patsy and Ty wrapped up in each other's arms on the bed.)
Patsy: Ever heard of knocking?
(Ty quickly brings some space between them and Paul tries to hide the shock on his face.)
Patsy (grins): What's the matter? Have you never seen people make out?
Paul: Sorry.
Patsy: Can we help you?
Paul: No. I'll just go.
Ty: Paul, wait! (to Patsy) Are you feeling better?
Patsy: Yes.
Ty: Can you give me and Paul a second?
Patsy: Sure.
(She kisses him briefly and walks out.)
Paul: What the hell?
Ty: I've tried to tell her, but she was crying and scared.
Paul: About what?
Ty: The Chosen.
Paul: You're just making it worse, Ty. The longer you wait, the more she'll hate you.
Ty: What about you? She's going to hate you too.
Paul: You wouldn't have to tell her it's because of me. Just tell her, you're gay.
Ty: I've never told anyone that. What if she tells the tribe?
Paul: Are you going to hide forever? I have no problem keeping us a secret, but I do have a problem with you kissing my sister. You have to break it off.
Ty: I know. I will, I promise.
Paul: Do it soon.
(Ty nods and reaches out for Paul, but he turns around and leaves without another word.)
SCENE 19
(Camera cuts to Trudy, walking briskly towards the exit. She almost reaches the front door, but it held back by Ruby in the last second.)
Trudy: Let go of me! I have to find Brady!
Ruby: You can't go out there, Trudy. Not in the state you're in.
(Camera pans around to show Ryan come towards them.)
Ryan: There you are! I was worried, when I couldn't find you.
Trudy: I can't just wait around and do nothing. Brady is probably scared to death. I have to find her!
Ruby: You can't go out alone.
Trudy: Then come with me.
Ryan: If it really is the Chosen again, you can't go out at all. The Guardian tried to kill you before. Who knows what he'll do, if he gets his hands on you.
Trudy: I don't care! Brady needs me.
Ruby: You're no use to her if you're dead.
Trudy: I'm no use to her just sitting in here either.
Ryan: There's no way you're leaving. End of discussion.
Trudy (pushes him away): You're not the boss of me!
Ruby: But we're your friends. You'll thank us for this one day.
(Together Ryan and Ruby drag her back into the café.)
SCENE 20
(Camera cuts back to Cara, Cal, Gel and Darryl as they follow the Chosen.)
Gel: There's too many of them. We can't take them.
Cara: Maybe we can surprise them. We just have to try.
(She checks if the others are on her side. Darryl and Cal nod immediately, Gel hesitates for a moment, but then she agrees too. They creep closer. On Cal's signal they jump the guards that are holding Alpha, because he's closest to them. The leader of The Pack has only waited for his opportunity and easily frees himself in the diversion. Being the skilled fighter that he is, he takes out two other guards before they even know what's happening.
Darryl and Cara take on Bray's guards. He's not as great as a fighter as Alpha is, but he's fuelled by rage and manages to break free too.)
Cara: Let's go! We have to get out!
Bray: We have to get Amber!
Alpha: No time! We'll be surrounded any second.
Bray: I'm not leaving without Amber!
Alpha: Don't be an idiot, Bray!
Guardian: Get them! Don't let them escape!
(The Chosen move in on them, but Bray won't budge. His eyes are fixed on Amber up ahead. Alpha growls and pushes him back.)
Alpha: Get moving! Now!
Cara: She's dead anyway.
Bray: She isn't!
Cal: You're no use to her if you're captured. Come on!
(When Bray refuses to move, Alpha and Cal both grab him and drag him away until he starts running. Gel, Darryl and Cara follow them, but the Chosen are close behind them. Cara and Darryl are in shape and fast, but Gel starts falling behind without them noticing. She tries her best, but can't keep up with them. She screams, when a Chosen grabs her hair and pulls her back.)
Gel: Darryl!
(Darryl turns around and is about to run to her aide, but Cara stops him.)
Cara: You're gonna get caught! Don't!
Darryl: I can't leave her!
Cara: Not you too.
(She shakes her head, giving up and continues to run after Cal, Alpha and Bray who have already disappeared around the next corner.)
Gel: No! Don't touch my hair, scumbag!
(She fights her attacker, but is overpowered. Darryl watches the whole thing, torn between escaping or trying to free her again. As the Chosen advance on him, he picks the first option and runs. The Chosen give chase as the camera cuts away.)
SCENE 21
(Sammy and Lottie burst into the hospital, trying to catch their breath. Ram, who's seen them on the security cameras is the first in the entrance hall.)
Ram: What happened?
Sammy: Get…Get the others!
Ram (rolls his eyes, not liking to be commanded to do anything): Why?
Lottie (shouts): Everyone! Come quick!
Ram: I could've done that.
Lottie: But you didn't!
(The others come rushing into the entrance hall.)
Trudy (looking hopeful): Brady!
(Her face falls, when she sees it's only Sammy and Lottie.)
Ruby: Lottie, what is it? Where are the others?
Sammy: Chosen!
Patsy: What?
Lottie: They really are back. They were at the school.
Sammy: They killed Amber!
Trudy (shrieks): No! They can't have!
Ryan: What?
Ty: Where's Cara and Cal?
Lottie: They wanted to free Bray. The Chosen got all the tribe leaders.
Jack: Are you sure about Amber?
Sammy: She looked dead.
Jack: But you're not sure?
Lottie: They were carrying her away, Noel too. The others were all walking.
Ryan: That doesn't mean anything. Amber is tough.
Patsy: What are we going to do now?
(Camera pans around showing confusion and fear on all of their faces. Nobody really knows what to do now.)
SCENE 22
(Camera cuts Lex and Cloud sitting in the dark storage room.)
Lex: Any chance of us getting out of here?
Cloud: We'd have to get out of these cuffs first. (he rattles them for demonstration.)
Lex: And then?
Cloud: Get through that door. (nods towards it) That's heavy steel and locked. It might even have a bolt by now, I think, I've heard one.
Lex: So it's hopeless.
Cloud: Kind of. I wonder why they haven't just wasted us already.
Lex: I'd like to see them try.
Cloud: Says the drunkard, who chained to and locked up. You know, Lex, you're not even half as menacing as you think.
Lex: Watch it!
Cloud: Again. Not a threat, when you're shackled.
(They stop their bickering, when they hear footsteps approaching and the door being unlocked. The Chosen bring in the new captives and chain them up just like Lex and Cloud.)
Gel: Lex!
Lex: Gel? What are you doing here?
(When everybody is secure, the Chosen leave. Gel moves closer, so she can get a better look at Amber, who's still unconscious next to her.)
Gel: What happened to her?
Gordon: That psycho strangled her. (nodding towards Noel) They just got rough with him.
Cloud: How did they get you?
Leanne: The Mall Rats called for a tribal meeting. Of course Tilly used it to rat us all out.
Cloud (sarcastically): Why does that sound so familiar?
Lex: Where's Bray and Alpha then?
Gel: We helped them escape, but… now here I am.
Lex: You got caught.
(Gel huffs and turns her attention back to Amber.)
Debra: What do you think they want with us?
Lex: Last time they wanted the leaders to convince their tribes to join the Chosen, or they had them killed.
Gordon: Like hell I'm promoting them.
Cloud: Then why am I still here?
Leanne: How long have you been here?
Cloud: Couple of days.
Lex: There's still plenty of time to waste you.
Cloud: Thanks, Lex. I've really enjoyed our little talks.
Gel: How did you get here? Everyone thought you'd been out to drink again.
Lex: I went to check for Brady. Camille seemed odd and I had seen the Guardian around here.
Debra: Playing the hero. How did that work out for you?
(Camera cuts to the next scene.)
SCENE 23
(Camera cuts to Ellie, Kayla and Cloe making their way back to the hospital after working on the farm. They have almost reached it, when Bray, Cal, Cara, Darryl and Alpha run into them from behind.)
Ellie: Bray, what's going on?
Alpha: Just run!
(They all run the last stretch. The rest of the Mall Rats are still in the entrance hall, when they arrive. As soon as he sees her, Jack rushes forward to hug Ellie. Paul does the same to Cal and Cara.)
Ellie: What's going on?
Bray: The Chosen are back!
Trudy: Bray, is it true? About Amber? Is she…
Ryan: Is she dead?
Bray: No! The Guardian choked her, but she's still alive.
Darryl: Gel! They have Gel now!
(Kayla wraps an arm around him and rest her head on his shoulder.)
Bray: We'll get her back too, Darryl.
Alpha: This little reunion is very nice, but we shouldn't stay here.
Bray: You're right. This is the first place, they'll come looking.
Cloe: But where can we go?
Alpha: You can't all just up and leave. That'd be too suspicious.
Ram: Are Camille and Tai-San with them?
Bray: Yes, all the Astros, I think.
Ram: They've been here every day for weeks now and you've been telling them all kinds of things. Good job, by the way.
Bray: Shut up, Ram!
Ram: Just saying. We can't all go before they get here and we can't hide you, because Camille and Tai-San know this place too well.
Trudy: You want them to go by themselves?
Ram: Exactly. If they wanted all of us, they'd been here already. It's obvious they only want the leaders.
Ryan: For now. That might change.
Alpha: He's right, though. I know a place.
Bray: Trudy, you should come with us. The Guardian will probably try to get you too.
Ryan: Then, I'll come too.
Bray: No. You'll be needed here.
Darryl: What about Gel and Amber?
Bray: We'll make a plan later.
(Camera cuts away.)
SCENE 24
(Camera cuts to Alpha, Trudy and Bray with Bray Jr in his arms leaving the hospital.)
Alpha: Why did we have to take the kid?
Bray: Because he's my son.
Alpha: It would've been safer for him with your tribe.
Bray: The Guardian knows he's my son. He'd use him against me.
Trudy: Where are we going?
Alpha: Quiet!
(He points down the street and the three of them quickly move off the road into the bushes as some Chosen make their way towards the hospital.)
Bray (whispers): Just in time.
(Alpha motions for them to follow him. Camera cuts away.)
(Camera cuts back to them, now sneaking through the city. The streets are mostly deserted. Now and then a couple of Chosen are seen or City kids hiding. Alpha tries to keep them mostly unseen as he directs them to the shopping mile. He stops in front of an old shoe store with broken windows, climbs onto a garbage container and jumps up to hoist himself onto the latch of the second story.)
Trudy: I'll never get up there.
Bray: Sure. I'll help you.
(Bray hands her Bray Jr, climbs onto the garbage container and takes the child again, only to hand him to Alpha. He then helps Trudy up and with Alpha's help, she manages to make the climb. Bray follows with no problems.)
Trudy: This is it?
(Camera pans around to show they're in a maternity shop. It's only mildly chaotic since only few people have been up here.)
Alpha: Used to be my mother's shop.
Bray: This is great. They won't be looking for us here.
Alpha: That's the plan.
Bray Jr: Daddy, where's Mummy? Why we left?
Bray: We're taking a little vacation, Junior.
Alpha: I need to let my tribe know, they didn't get me. I'll be back later.
Bray: Are you crazy? You'll run into Chosen.
Alpha: I won't.
(He climbs out through the broken window again, leaving the Mall Rats.)
Trudy: Do you think we can trust him?
Bray: We have to. Besides, if anyone would hate the Chosen, Alpha would. He wouldn't buy that crap.
Trudy: If you say so.
(She starts looking through the store, while Bray tries to explain to his son, what's going on.)
SCENE 25
(Camera cuts to KC on the farm. Since it's the evening most people have left as not many people actually live out here. KC is lying in the hay, playing Gameboy. The batteries die and he hits the Gameboy a few times, before accepting his fate.)
KC: Crap! What do I do now?
(He hears voices and crawls to the window of the hayloft. From up there he can see a bunch of Chosen move onto the farm and surround the farmhouse. He watches as they take the kids inside prisoner and lead them away. Several Chosen are carrying torches and gasoline. They start by lighting the farmhouse on fire, but then advance on the barn. Horrified KC watches the farmhouse burn, knowing he's about to be burned alive. Camera fades to black.)
