Chapter XX, 8 months along

(no one's POV)

"Kei I'm pretty sure that doesn't go there," a very pregnant Hikari said as she sat in the corner of the room. She had to admit that watching Kei struggling was an extremely rare thing, so she was actually enjoying this.

"Hikari I'm basically perfect at everything, I can do this."

"Um Kei, that part isn't even part of this."

"Fine, what am I doing wrong?" Kei turned to his wife with a frustrated expressing littering his face.

"Ok, so the bottom needs to be those 2 curved pieces of wood. Then the 4 designed pieces of wood that are the same length, and then you add the walls." Kei nodded his head at Hikari's instructions.

"So these 2 pieces, then these 4 and the walls?" Kei asked Hikari as he stared at the sprawled piece of the soon to be cradle.

"Yup."

Kei quickly put it along and in front of us stood the now completed redwood crib. It was an adorable rocking crib that they had both really liked. Kei brought out the other box that held an identical crib, but made of birch wood instead.

He built the second one much faster, but this was all we were building today since the room still needed to be painted. The guys were going to arrive soon to help with that though.

"There, done!" said Kei with a small smirk placed on his face. Hikari knew that he was really happy about it though. To others he would usually seem as if he's expressionless, but she had learned to read the small smirks or tiny smiles that he occasionally shows. He may not show it, but anything to do with the twins excited him.

The couple smiled as they stared at the finished room for their children, the arrival was long anticipated and neither could wait much longer.

Kei's POV 1 hour later

I was standing in my office doing some paperwork for the company when a shrill ring disturbed me from my work.

`"Hello, Takishima speaking," The reply didn't take very long, knowing that if anyone wasted my time at home I would murder them at the next visit.

"Takishima, part of the London branch has had a severe accident as an employee went AWOL and decided to sabotage multiple equipment, file, programs, and accounts. We need you to fly out here right at this moment." The voice speaking on the other line seemed frantic allowing me to figure that this was an urgent situation.

"Which employee was it," I asked to figure out if this was deeper than it seemed.

"The employee was Kirio, Masatu, he was one of the technical programmers that would help with the international acquisitions," it didn't seem as if he was scouted by an enemy.

"I will see what I can do. I will contact you about my plans soon, I quickly hung up on him, but then realized that I have a very pregnant wife. Hikari could go into labor at any moment since it's not unusual for women to have premature labor when pregnant with twins.

I shouldn't go, I should just stay home with Hikari incase anything happens, but at the same time the company is dealing with a major blow at the moment, that would really need my help.

Just as I was thinking, my beautiful and largely swollen wife entered the room with an envelope in her hand

"It seems that Akira, Megumi, Sakura, and Finn have decided to throw me a baby shower in two days. Right here just in case I get tired and need to rest as well as so I don't have to move the gifts too far. Do you want to go with me, or would you rather stay away from all the girly things there?" she asked as she handed me the invitation to the party. I quickly glanced at it and memorized it in one look.

"Hikari do you think it would be fine if I left for a day to London. There has been an issue at that branch that could possibly have a large impact on the company. It seems urgent, but if you don't want me to go then I won't.

"Kei, you wouldn't be asking me this if this wasn't serious. It's fine as long as you're not there for too long. Either way the girls will probably be around for the next two days, so I won't be alone for long periods of time. Don't worry about me, just go deal with business."

I smiled, my wife always cared about other rather than having selfish desires. She was probably worrying about how the problem was affecting me rather than how she would be alone for a short time.

"Ok, I'll leave tomorrow in the morning, and try to be back the next day by noon." I told her as I picked up my cell phone to begin to dial the pilot of the private Takashima plane. I saw Hikari nod as she approached me to give me a kiss on the cheek. I turned my head slightly so that instead of my cheek she would meet my lips. As our lips touched, she blushed a little before pulling back a few seconds later. I smiled as she slowly made her way back to the door with the slight blush tinging her cheeks.

I set up the flight for the morning and then proceeded to follow Hikari to our bedroom.

Hikari's POV (next morning)

Kei had woken up and looked at me worriedly. I think he's worried something might happen during the brief time of his departure. I was a little worried too but I tried not to show it so that he wouldn't feel bad about leaving.

We got dressed while I made a simple breakfast Akira had taught me. As I was making the scrambled eggs I heard the bathroom door open but continue to cook.

I feel my husband's shirtless abs press against my back while his arms slither around me. His hands sneak beneath my oversized shirt (really it's his shirt, but I claimed it), and begin to rub small circles on the expanded skin protecting my growing children.

"You know, you shouldn't be doing this, I could easily have made breakfast instead." He says as his chin is resting on my head.

"Kei, you worry too much. I'm pregnant, not dying," I rolled my eyes at his overprotective gestures, but in the inside I loved how overprotective he was. It meant that he cared. "You better get dressed and eat breakfast or you'll miss your flight," I reminded him. I heard him murmur an "ok," before leaning down and kissing my throat while giving my belly one final rub. He pulls back and I can hear his retreating footsteps as he returns to the room to get dressed.

I placed the scrambled eggs on a plate with a portion of rice mixed with small ham bits in it. I poured Kei a cup of coffee while I poured myself some apple juice since I can't have caffeine. I heard the bedroom door open and my hot husband walked out while wearing a blue dress shirt and dark grey dress pants. Before sitting down he grabbed my chin forcing me to look in his direction before crashing his lips on mine.

"The food looks good," he had his signature smirk on as he sat down. I remained still while knowing my face probably resembled the color of a stop sign.

I finally returned to my senses and sat down while trying and failing to hide my blush.

"Hikari, I know it'll only be a day, but I called Akira so that she can be here just in case you need anything or if anything happens."

I could see he was trying to hide how worried he was. I mean I understand why. Since I'm in my eighth month with twins, it wouldn't be abnormal at all for me go into labor prematurely. "It's okay Kei, I understand you're worried, so it's fine, plus I miss having some girl time." I said with a small at the end to try and relax him a little. It worked as I saw his shoulders lose a little bit of their rigidness as he relaxed a little.

Much wasn't spoken after that, we both ate in a comfortable silence, well really he ate and I swallowed everything whole. "I should probably get going if I don't want to miss my flight. Well really it's my private jet, but I don't want to keep the pilot waiting too long. Oh, I forgot to thank you for the food." Kei stood up as I started speaking.

"It's fine Kei. Promise me you'll be careful while you're gone," I said as I stood up as well. The worry was still present all over his face, and I knew mine mirrored a little bit of it as well. Kei got closer to me. He came as close as he could before his chest bumped into my swollen tummy.

"I'll promise to be careful only if you do the same," he said with all seriousness present in his voice.

"I promise."

"Good," I saw some of the stress and worry leave his features as his shoulders lost some of their stiffness. Kei crouched a little to be at face level with my expanded abdomen. He placed both of his hand on the expanse of my belly and whispered so softly I barely heard it. "Please don't cause any trouble for your mother. I love both of you already, I don't know what I would do without your mother or either of you. Please stay safe." He softly placed a long lasting kiss on my round stomach before standing up again and placing a kiss that was so raw with love and care. I eagerly responded and added more to the kiss. After what felt like hours, we broke apart to get some air. "I better start going," he said as he slowly pulled away and started heading towards his luggage next to the door.

"Yeah you probably should," I replied a little disheartened.

"I'll see you in a few days Hikari," he rubber my belly once more and gave me a peck on the lips before picking up his luggage and heading to the awaiting car.

I was leaning against the door frame with my arms crossed as he was walking, right before he entered the car I said, "Bye Kei, I love you and take care."

He quickly turned around with a smile and replied with, "I love you more and remember our promise." I smiled and waved my hand as he did the same. Eventually though he had to leave so lowered himself into the car and entered it. The driver didn't spare much time after the door closed to drive off to the airport, and I was left looking at the back of the car knowing that each second he was a little farther away from me.

The next day

As promised, Akira came not long after Kei had left. We did some girly things, she baked cookies, we talked more about baby stuff, she rubbed my belly a little, we watched a few movies, and she spent the night. I was currently feeling a little happier knowing that Kei would be back today. I know it's only been a day, but I really miss him.

"Hey Hikari, Monster Number 1's flight doesn't land until another hour or so and that's if there were no delays, so what do you want to do in the meanwhile?" Akira asked me as we were sitting on the couch watching an action chick-flick.

"I don't know you could teach to….ahh," I felt a slight pain in the lower part of my belly, it wasn't strong enough to be a contraction, but that doesn't mean that it didn't hurt.

"You ok Hikari?" Akira asked with concern tinging her face.

"I'm fine, it wasn't anything serious, probably just a cramp," I lied.

"Ok tell me if anything feels wrong."

"Ok Akira, I'm just gonna go get a glass of water," I waddled over to kitchen and before I could even reach the cupboard, a large wave of dizziness washed over me as I gripped a nearby counter really hard. At that same moment Akira walked in and saw me gripping the counter right before I said, "Something's wrong." Slowly my grip on the counter loosened and I felt myself falling as darkness surrounded me. The last thing I heard was Akira calling my name in a panicked voice.

Kei's POV

There's multiple reasons that I don't enjoy being in London. First one is definitely because I only ever come here for work which isn't something I really enjoy, second is my pesky grandfather that really only pests me when I'm here, and in this case third would be that I'm away from Hikari. I absolutely despised having to leave my very heavily pregnant wife for work on a completely different continent. I was just glad that I was most likely only an hour away from seeing her as the plane was about to land in Japan.

I don't know why but suddenly there was a nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach. Something felt wrong but I had no idea what it was. Since my private plane had built in WiFi, I w's going to call Akira to make sure everything was all right, but my phone rang before I had the chance to even dial anything. I picked it up without even glancing at the caller ID.

"Kei…, there's a problem. Hikari,.. she fainted… and I don't know why.. I'm taking her to the hospital right now." Akira rushed in with very small pauses to catch her breath as I could hear her nervous breathing. My face paled within seconds. This can't be happening. What if something bad happened, no it can't be, they're gonna be alright, all three of them are going to be alright. I waited a few seconds to process everything before I said anything back.

"Stay with her Akira, please make sure she's ok, please don't level her side until I get there!" I rushed out in a distressed voice.

I hear her assurance that she wouldn't leave Hikari, and quickly hung up before running to the cockpit. I reached it fast and opened the door startling the pilot.

"Is there any way we could go faster?" I asked. The pilot still looked startled, but I'm sure he could see how desperate I was so he just nodded before answering.

"At this speed we'll be in Japan in more or less 25 minted, but I can speed up to get there in 15 minutes instead, but that's as fast as I can go." I nodded and thanked him before returning to my seat and pulling out my phone.

"Aoi, I'm going to be at the airport in 15 minutes, and I need someone to pick me up immediately. Hikari fainted and is in the hospital, and I need to be there at once." I rushed out but I knew that Aoi had understood every single word.

"Will do sir," Aoi answered.

I anxiously awaited each passing second as I hoped each would pass by faster. I needed to make sure that my family was okay. I didn't know what I would do without any of them. I could feel my heart pounding and sweat droplets forming on my hairline as each second felt like a year. At the same I was thinking of all the possible worst case scenarios, and all it did was make me more and more restless as new ones popped in my head every few milliseconds.

What seemed like hours, but really was just a few minutes, later, the plane landed. True to his word the moment I set foot of the plane, Aoi was there patiently waiting in the car. I quickly jumped in the back of the car and Aoi immediately sped off as he knew where to go. I knew I shouldn't have gone somewhere far when Hikari is in a very critical moment in her pregnancy. I didn't expect anything to happen in the short time I was gone, but how wrong was I.

The car pulled up to the hospital and I flew out the door before Aoi could even stop. I entered the hospital with a great speed and received many stares, which didn't surprise me since I was a billionaire running through a hospital in a wrinkled suit, and disheveled hair due to running my fingers through it. I went up to the desk and startled the woman who was calmly organizing some files by her computer.

"My wife was bought in a while ago, Hikari Takashima, she's 8 months pregnant. I need to know what room she's in?" it came rushed out since I was in such a hurry. It took her a second to process it through, and then she went to her computer to look up the information.

"Yes she's registered, but she's in a private room, so I'll have to see some identification to tell you which room." I quickly flashed my driver's license to which she nodded and responded by saying, "room 404, fourth floor."

I didn't even respond before I was out of her sight and dashing up the stairs since I was faster than an elevator. I easily found the room and burst through the door.

There was Akira and Tadashi both slouched over a small couch in the corner looking startled as I just rudely awakened them from their slumber, and on the bed was my beloved Hikari. A sigh of relief went through me as I saw she didn't have any physical injuries and her belly was still perfectly swollen. Seeing as she was still resting with her hand draped over her abdomen, I turned towards Akira and Tadashi to question them.

"What happened, why is she in the hospital?" my voice came out with worry, and I'm pretty sure they noticed since they answered immediately.

"Nothing too big, but Hikari's been stressed over the last few days and that caused the babies some distress which led to her fainting. The doctor said the he's going to put her under for a few hours so that she rests. He also said she should go on bedrest next week since she's almost in her last month. They also did an ultrasound on her, and the twins are perfectly fine so don't worry.

I felt so relieved that none of them were in danger. I don't know what I would do if I had to make a choice between my wife and my kids.

Akira stood up and pulled Tadashi with her saying that she was going to give me some privacy with my wife. I didn't really listen to her and just sat next to Hikari's bed holding her hand and waiting for her to wake.

Hikari's POV

Slowly I began to blink my eyes trying to get them into focus. After a few seconds they did and I felt someone holding my hand. I noticed the white interior surrounding me which further confused me until I heard someone speak.

"Hikari are you ok, can you hear me." Oh right, Kei, what's he doing back from work, wait why am I here? "You fainted earlier today, and you've been in the hospital for a few hours," I've what? Suddenly I remembered the pains I got and why I fainted. My hands flew to feel if I was still carrying my children, and Kei must've noticed as a look of realization passed through him.

"The twins are okay, they're both fine, you just got stressed." I visibly relaxed, and then I remembered that he was at work.

"Kei I'm so sorry, I probably freaked you out," I felt bad about that, he always worries so much about me.

"Hikari, I don't care what it is, but anything dealing with your health is important, so I would rather be freaked out than not know." He leaned in to kiss me and these are some of the moments that made me feel so loved.

As he pulled away, he began to speak again. "I also think that maybe I should work from home until the baby is born." This caught my attention. Kei had a lot of work when he went to the office, but working from home made his job much more difficult. It would also probably stress him out, or keep him awake longer and I also worried about him a lot.

"Kei are you sure, you want to do that? It'll make work harder for you." I was sure the worry was etched in my face, but I was more worried about what this could do to him.

"Hikari I'm sure. I don't want something like this happening again and me not being there just because of work. You and the twins are the most important people to me in this world, and I would do anything to make sure the three of you are safe, anything." There wasn't much I could say to argue with him. I knew that he would be dead set on this choice, and on the side I was really happy because of how much Kei cared about me. It reminded me of how great of a father he's going to be, I was re ally lucky to have him.

"Ok, but if there's something that you need to do at the company, then you have to go instead of trying to do it from home, ok?" I said knowing that this might make it a little easier for him.

"Deal. So how do you feel that in a few weeks, we'll be back in this hospital holding our twins?" Kei asked as he climbed onto the bed and wrapped an arm over my tummy and the other one was lowered a little to rub my belly. That gesture instantly stopped the hard kicking that I had grown used to over the months.

"I can't wait for," I honestly couldn't. It would make one of my dreams come true.

"I can't either," Kei smiled at me, "I love you Ms. Number-two."

My blush quickly spread along my cheeks and I answered back, "I love you too Kei, I always will." After that we just sat there together like we always did. Both of us in a serene state, happily awaiting what the future will bring, especially what'll arrive next month for both of us.

To Be Continued

AUTHOR'S NOTE: ~If you hate me and you know it clap your hands~ *clap clap from literally everyone that has followed this story*. Ok, so I know a lot of people want to kill me, (yes I'm talking to that one person who has sent me like 5 messages threatening to find me and brutally murder me), but I'm in a tight spot sort of. So my brother technically moved out, so I rarely see him or talk to him which kind of gets me sad, and I'm about to enter high school and I might go to a different type of high school program which none of my friends are going to, and I'm not very social so making new friends is gonna be really hard for me. Also my parents have decided that since the almighty perfect son is no longer home, I have to follow in his footsteps and be perfect too, but well let me remind them again, I'M NOT MY BROTHER, I WILL ACT AS MYSELF AND NOT BASE MY CHOICES ON HIM. SO BACK TO MATTERS, this is technically the second to last chapter as the next one will be the ending, hehe, don't know when that'll come out either. So I've read through all the reviews and stuff with the names, and around maybe 5pmish Central Time US, I'll have a few poles with my favorite names, so that you guys have the final say on the baby names. Well remember to leave your opinion of the chapter in the reviews, or to PM me. Well remember to follow if you haven't yet to know when the last chapter comes out, and to please favorite this. I'll write to you soon :D

Also, if you live in the US, Happy Thanksgiving, if you live anywhere else, Happy random day!
