TK POV

Kari and Koji both had disappeared before our eyes. When they collapsed and cried out, we tried to snap them out of it. Unfortunately, we couldn't even touch them, nor could they seem to hear us. Now we're running to DATS to try and find a way to get them back. I have no doubt that they were taken to the Dark Ocean. Koichi mentioned that Koji was acting a little strange yesterday as well.

"It's possible that, because Kari and Koji were both Digidestined of Light, Dragomon couldn't discern between the two of them," Izzy said while running.

"Also, with them being so close to one another all day, he most likely had an easy time targeting them," Thomas added. All I could really think about was getting Kari out of there. I didn't care about why it happened. We were close to DATS when we saw Fey walking, her back to us. Koichi dashed to her.

"FEY!" She flinched and turned around, confused. We stopped right in front of her.

"What are you doing out of DATS, Half-breed?"

"There was a Digimon signal coming from a place in town. I took a cab to get there and back, but I didn't think it'd be a good idea to pull up right up at DATS, so I was walking the rest of the way," Fey explained. Then she examined our expressions, and hers changed to concern. "What happened?"

"We believe Kari and Koji were dragged into the Dark Ocean," Koichi said.

"What!" Fey looked extremely alarmed. Then she grabbed Koichi. "Koichi, come with me. The rest of you go on and try to come up with something!" Without waiting for an argument, Fey dragged Koichi off in a different direction of DATS.

"I'll get them, you guys go on ahead," I said. Everyone nodded and continued on as I chased after the two idiots. I finally caught up after about two blocks. Neither of them saw me approaching. For some reason, I hesitated.

"Are you serious?!" Koichi said, looking a little hopeful.

"Yes, but there's a drawback. If I did this, I would be captured immediately and unable to search the surface." Koichi's face fell. "But if a being with an immense amount of darkness were to be dragged over with me, and let go before being captured…" Koichi shook his head.

"Then we'd have to find the three of you, not just the two of them. I won't go through with that!" Fey's face fell.

"Look, I didn't bring you with me to talk me out of it. I'm doing this one way or another. I just thought I'd give you the option of coming with me." Koichi was about to respond when he must have seen me move out of the corner of his eye. He turned and Fey followed his gaze.

"H-how long have you been-" Koichi started. Suddenly Fey turned and bolted for the water. Koichi spun after her. "STOP!" Fey either didn't hear him or was completely ignoring him. She leapt off the side just as Koichi grabbed her hand. I was not too far behind the two of them. Koichi was trying desperately to pull her out of the water, but she continued to pull away from him. Suddenly, Fey's head went below the surface and Koichi started to fall in to.

"HEY!" I grabbed his ankle just as I felt a strong force pull us under. All I could do was hold on with my eyes clamped shut. Water continued to rush past us. Then, suddenly, we stopped being pulled down. I felt a hand grab my wrist and start pulling me back toward the surface. Much sooner than I expected, we broke the surface. I started coughing.

"You OK?" Koichi asked.

"I think so…" I looked around. I noticed three things.

Patamon wasn't with us.

Fey hadn't resurfaced.

We weren't on Earth. We were in the Dark Ocean!

"H… how?"

"I'll explain once we get to the shore. Let's go!" With little choice, I followed him to shore.

Koichi POV

I sat on the shore, coughing. Even though I knew that was going to happen, I still wasn't prepared to be jerked under the water. After about three minutes, the two of us finally caught our breaths.

"Now, tell me. What. Happened."

"Fey was just telling me about it. Apparently, due to…" I thought of the right words. "…Stellamon's presence in her, Dragomon senses her to be a being from his world. Therefore, anytime she makes contact with sea or ocean water, he tries to drag her over here. Fey thought she could use that to get here quicker than what the others could come up with."

"So that's what she meant by 'capture me immediately.'" I nodded to TK's statement. Something caught the corner of my eye. I turned to the ocean.

"TK!" He turned and saw what I did: black forms coming toward us. "Dragomon's minions! We gotta get out of here!" TK didn't complain. The two of us turned and headed for the town.

"Which way?" TK asked, looking down streets as we passed. I was about to answer that I had no idea when something plowed into me from the left, making me fall. I flipped over onto my hands and knees, preparing to fight when I noticed the figure that had "attacked" me was wearing a cloak. The figure sprang up, turning in the same motion, and tackled TK. It pulled its hand back, as if it were going to punch him, when I grabbed its arm and yanked it off him.

"Listen, I don't know who you are, but we aren't dangerous! We just need to get away from Dragomon's goons so we can look for our friends!" The figure stopped struggling.

"Y-you're not from this world?" The figure's voice sounded female, and I think a little nervous. "T-this isn't some kind of trick, right?" I released her.

"No," TK answered for me. "We are just here to find Kari and Koji." The figure jumped.

"K-Kari! You mean the lights been brought here!" Both of us stared, confused, at the figure.

"Yes… How do you know-"

"SH!" The figure turned her head, as if she were listening. "There close!" I didn't have to ask to know what she meant. "Quick, follow me!" Without waiting, the figure ran down the street she was just coming from and dashed into a house. I followed without question.

"H-hey! How do we know we can trust her?"

"Do we really have a choice?" I entered the house. TK, though reluctantly, followed. The girl was nowhere in sight. The moment TK passed the door, it slammed shut! The sudden movement startled us. The girl dashed past and started pushing against a somewhat large dresser.

"This is your idea? Trapping us in a house until those guys come back?" TK asked, clearly annoyed.

"No…" The girl strained to say as she pushed. Finally, the dresser gave and moved about a foot. Below the dresser was a hole barely large enough for us to fit through. "This is the idea. Hurry!" I stepped forward, only to be stopped by TK.

"Look, I can tell she isn't trying something funny. I'm the Warrior of Darkness, remember?" He didn't seem to have a good rebuttal, so he let go and I climbed into the hole. After a short way down, the tunnel got larger making it easier to move about. At that point I waited for the other two. TK was down in a few seconds, but the girl didn't show. After three minutes I maneuvered myself around TK and looked up back up the tunnel. I didn't see anything. Suddenly, what little light we had disappeared. I heard something move above me and moved back, accidentally elbowing TK.

"OW!"

"Sorry." We heard a chuckle as the area got brighter again.

"Really, why didn't you light the lantern?" We stared in amazement as everything brightened up despite the black light that was "shining" toward us.

"How is that giving off light?" TK finally asked as the girl passed us to lead the way.

"It isn't. It's just concentrating the darkness, making everything else just seem to be brighter." Her tone seemed to suggest that this should have been something everyone knew.

"So, who are you?" I asked. The girl continued walking, as if she didn't hear me.

"How did you get brought here?" TK asked.

"I wasn't." I froze.

"What do you mean you weren't brought here?" TK asked, clueless. The girl's free hand shifted under the cloak, as if she were sticking it in her pocket.

"I was… born into this world." TK was speechless. The three of us walked in silence for almost five minutes after that, not really knowing what to say or do at this point. Finally, I broke the silence.

"So, you live alone here?" I asked as she stopped.

"This is it," she said, ignoring my question. "If we climb up here, we should resurface near the campsite." Sighing, I climbed up first. I moved a wooden door to the side and climbed out.

"Here," I said as I reached down, offering to help pull out my companions. The girl took me up on the offer and I lifted her out. That was when I sensed someone's approach, but it was too late to react. I stood quickly and turned, only to be tackled into a tree and a black haired lady about to punch my lights out.

"FEY! What are you doing here?!" The lady stopped and turned to TK, wide eyed.

"Huh?" was her response. Then she seemed to recover. "Y-you know my name?" TK looked strangely at her.

"Duh you half-breed." The girl turned to me.

"And… I know the two of you?"

"Man, Fey, what'd you do, hit you head?" Finally, Fey released me.

"S-sorry… Guess I just… didn't realize it was you guys." I narrowed my eyes. I knew "Fey" was lying. So did TK.

"Really, who are you?"

"I- I'm Fey! Promise!"

"Wait…" TK thought for a moment. "Are you maybe a past version of Fey? You came from the past, which would explain why you didn't recognize us, right?" Fey blinked, stunned, before smiling.

"Yeah, you're right. Guess I couldn't fool you guys, huh?" She laughed after that. I cocked an eyebrow. I knew she was still lying, but that explanation was good enough for TK, so he let it go. "Anyway, why were you guys with Crysty?"(Pronounced Kristy) We blinked.

"Crysty?"

"That's me," the girl responded. Finally, she pulled her hood down, reviling a girl about ten years old. Her hair was completely black, reaching her shoulder blades, pale skin, and completely black eyes. "We crossed paths in town." Fey's head jerked over to Crysty.

"What were you doing in- Wait… Don't tell me you were trying to find out when-"

"It's already happened!" Crysty interrupted. Fey froze.

"What?"

"The light. It's already been taken."

"How long!"

"Um…" Crysty looked over to us. "When were your friends brought here?" TK glanced down at his phone.

"Um, about 25 minutes ago." Crysty gasped.

"That only give us 35 minutes to find the portal!"

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"The barrier between this world and whatever world you come from gets weaker when someone is brought here! This allows for a portal to appear, linking a way back to your world. However, it only lasts an hour. After that, it's virtually impossible to leave!"

"We came here about five minutes ago! Wouldn't that cause it to reset!?" TK asked. Crysty shook her head.

"Unfortunately, no. Think about it like this: You are trying to catch tadpoles with a net and the net get a hole in it because a rock was too heavy. You decide to keep going for an hour, despite the hole. If another rock were to go into the net, you wouldn't decide to go on for another hour. You'd only go for however much time is left."

"I see. So in other words," I said, "if there is any hope for us to escape, then we have to find this portal before the time limit is up, right?" Crysty nodded.

"No." Everyone turned to TK. "We have to find Kari and Koji first! We can't leave them here!" Fey opened her mouth, but I interrupted.

"Then how about this: We can't leave without finding the portal, and we also can't leave without the others. Therefore, we split up. You go with Crysty and look for them, while I go with Fey to find the portal."

"NO!" Fey shot. "Crysty should be looking for the portal. She should go with you." I shook my head.

"You can't pair up with TK. He absolutely hates you. He also won't look for the portal, so there's no way around it." Fey gritted her teeth. Crysty pulled on her arm.

"It's OK. I will make it there in time. I want to leave here just as much as you do." I saw Fey trying to work some way around the situation, but in the end she must have realized it was a waste of time.

"Fine. Let's go." With that, Fey took off, pulling her hood up. I turned to TK.

"Take care of the kid." I didn't wait for his reply before taking off after the imposter.

TK POV

"Why did he tell me that?"

"It doesn't really matter. Let's go looking for them." Crysty turned and started walking toward the beach. I followed close behind.

"So… You and Fey know each other?"

"Y-yeah."

"How do you know her?"

"She's like… like a sister to me." I frowned.

"You shouldn't let your guard down around her. She can change in an instant." Crysty looked up, concerned.

"You don't trust Fey?"

"No. I can't trust that half-breed after what she tried to do."

"You called her that before… What does that mean? Half-breed?" I hesitated. She wasn't from Earth, so would it be so bad to tell her about Digimon. Then again, those things that tried to get Kari looked like Digimon, too.

"What did she do to you?" She must have translated my silence to mean I didn't want to talk about it.

"She… She tried to kill my friend," I responded, before mentally cursing myself. Why did I tell her that!

Crysty froze and pulled her fists up. "You're wrong! There's absolutely no way Fey would do something like that!"

I laughed. "Really? You must have never seen her turn into Stellamon, then." Crysty cocked her head.

"Stellamon? Is that some kind of bat Digimon?"

"So you know about Digimon?" Crysty started walking again, nodding proudly.

"Yup! They are the reason we want to leave so badly. If she'd never come here, we would have never known there were other worlds out there with light instead of darkness!"

"Hold on, you mean Fey told you about Digimon?"

"No, Ileata did." I froze

"Wait! Sangloupmon came here?!" Crysty looked confused.

"Who's Sangloupmon?"

"Ileata! That's her true name!" Crysty laughed.

"Silly! Ileata's name is Ileata. Besides, even if you are talking about her Digimon name, then it's Dorumon."

"D-Dorumon?" Crysty nodded.

"Yup! Fey told me what Ileata told her, and-"

"Wait, how long ago was this?" Crysty hesitated. Her face looked like she had said something wrong.

"Um…" Her eyes widened. "Sir…" She started backing up. I turned to see black figures heading our way at full speed.

Koichi POV

"Will you just slow down for a minute!?" The girl finally slowed to a quick walk, but refused to turn in my direction.

"Thanks, miss."

"My name's Fey."

"No, I know it isn't." The girl turned and eyed me.

"What makes you think that?"

"I just have a hard time believing the girl I spent a week training with is you."

"Nice try, but that was longer than a week, remember?" I started laughing. "What?"

"That just proved it! I really did spend a week training with Fey. I just can't believe you gave yourself away like that!" The girl's mouth dropped.

"O-ok. Fine. I'm not Fey. Who do you think I am?"

"Honestly, I don't know. But I do think I know who Crysty is." She froze.

"What?"

"She's Fey's kid sister, isn't she? Don't worry; I won't tell anyone. It would just cause issues." The girl didn't respond. "Look, I-"

"AAAAAHHHHH!" Both of our heads jerked over to the beach.

"Crysty!" She was about to dash off when I grabbed her arm. "Let go! I have to-"

"Wait! This is something I can help with." As I said this, I pulled out my D-tector.

TK POV

Both of us were penned down on the beach. I tried to break free, but shadow minions are stronger than they look.

"This one is the being of Hope. We have no use for him."

"SIR!" The shadow things started dragging me off. I kept my eyes lock onto Crysty.

"This one… it's from our world!"

"She was never given a spore!"

"Dragomon will want to know about this!" They lifted her up and started dragging her toward the water.

"CRYSTY!" I cried. Then I blinked in surprise. My voice wasn't the only one calling her name. Suddenly, JagerLoweemon appeared, striking out at the goons holding Crysty and me. Without hesitating, I grabbed Fey's extended hand, and she pulled me onto his back. Together, we grabbed Crysty and placed her between us. Fey glanced ahead of us.

"THERE!" Fey pointed to where the lighthouse used to be. That was when I saw it. A shimmering form on the edge of the cliff.

"How long?" Crysty asked.

I looked down in shock. "Ten minutes left?! How did we lose so much time!?"

"Doesn't matter! I'll hold them off while you guys get her to that portal!" Fey suddenly leapt off his back.

"NO!" Crysty tried to climb off after her, but I grabbed her.

"Sorry, but this has to be how things have to be."

"No! I don't want to leave her behind like…" Tears fell down her face. I hated seeing this kid so upset, but there was no way around it.

It took us five minutes to get ourselves up to the portal. JagerLoweemon stopped and allowed us to hop off before changing back to Koichi. Crysty didn't seem to care. She still had tears falling for Fey.

"Look, I know Fey will be OK. After all, she was from the past."

"Yeah," she responded absentmindedly.

"We need to go. I know she wouldn't want you to stay here," Koichi persuaded. Finally, she turned.

"Right…! LOOK!" Crysty suddenly sprinted over toward the portal. Both of us looked and saw a familiar form crouched over the edge.

"KARI!" I dashed over, Koichi on my heels. Kari barely looked over her shoulder at my call.

"TK? Hurry, I need help!" Without explaining, she leaned further over the cliff. We quickly got to her and saw Koji was clinging to the side, trying not to fall into the dark waters below. Crysty turned around and started climbing down.

"HEY!" I started to grab her, but Koichi held me back.

"She knows what she's doing."

"But… What are you guys even doing here?"

"Long story," was Kari's short reply.

"Here!" Crysty reached down and Koji accepted the assistance. She pulled, helping him climb up enough to where we could grab him. Without waiting another second, she started climbing back up. I glanced over to the ocean and saw a dark tentacle coiling to grab at us.

"Let's go!" I reached down and hauled Crysty up. Everyone turned and made a mad dash to the portal. I glanced at the time. "Two minute!" I muttered. I brought up the rear, pulling Crysty along. I watched everyone else leap in. I leapt-

And felt Crysty's hand slip out of mine. I spun around, already in the portal, to see Crysty lying on the ground, her ankle held by the tentacle I'd seen before.

"NO!" Crysty's head shot up, terror evident. Then, before she could get up, the portal shimmered closed. We were deposited, quite clumsily but conveniently, just outside of DATS.

"Thank goodness," came Fey's voice.

"Everyone's safe!" Izzy said. We all looked up to see everyone standing there, including Fey. Pattamon flew over and landed on my head. He was clearly happy to see me safe.

"What happened over there?" Thomas asked. My first thoughts went to Crysty. Koichi glanced over at me as my fists started to tremble.

"I don't want to talk about it," and with that, I spun around and ran away, refusing to stop until I got back to my home.
