Happy Holidays everyone! Here is the last chapter of Locket of Triton! But look out for the next installment, Sea of Souls.
Till Next Year
"Harry, it's all my fault. Someone spiked the punch. I would've never left them out of my sight." A blubbering Neville Longbottom confessed.
"No Neville, you're fine. These kids would've gotten out somehow." The calm voice of Harry Potter assured.
"Now get to the kids in the arena Longbottom, we don't want any more trouble for you. " A less familiar voice added.
Basil groaned then turned in the white bed she was resting in. Everything was hazy, but she remembered everything before she passed out. Surprisingly, Basil saw Harry and Draco sitting in the infirmary; Draco sat next to Scorpius's bed while Harry sat beside her and Albus. Basil tried to sit up but her body was too weak.
"Morning Basil." Harry greeted. Basil knew it was his eyes that she saw before.
"Morning Mr. Potter, Mr. Malfoy." Basil groaned.
Basil hoped comforting words would come here way like the year before, but it was quite the opposite. Basil's head thumped as she was lectured by the boy-who-lived.
"Now, what did I tell you kids? When I got Albus's letter, we rushed here. You know you should've let us gone after the locket. But it's not all your fault, Charles told us he told you everything you needed to know." Harry addressed. Basil merely sighed.
"I know Mr. Potter. It's just that we thought we could take him, I guess not." Basil inhaled. Her lungs burned still.
"You could've died. You're lucky you made it out without any serious injuries. "As Harry spoke Basil looked over to Albus. "Don't worry about Al. He's alright now, but he has to wear glasses because of that spell."
Basil nodded and took another glance at the room. Scorpius was rustling in his bed, Albus was lying down with glasses at his bedside, but Anna was nowhere to be seen. Basil felt an instant rush back into her body, she felt like she run a mile in that very moment. It was like all her former energy was back and ready to fight.
"Don't worry, Anna is just eating breakfast." Draco softly muttered. He seemed slightly angry, but content.
"Thanks." Basil stared back at Harry. "I'm sorry Sven got away. I wish I could've done something. He got the locket too."
"No he didn't." A comforting voice laughed.
All three turned to Scorpius's bed. He sat up, bruised and scar showing clearly, and pulled out a locket from underneath his shirt. Basil assumed it was the locket she gave him at Christmas, but no it wasn't; it was the Locket of Triton! A smile stuck on Basil's weak face; all she wanted to do was hug him and tell him she was so happy.
"Scorpius! I can't believe it. You're a genius!" Basil clapped. Even Albus woke up to appreciate Scorpius's amazing quick thinking.
"You had him distracted so I thought why not. Luckily he was dumb enough to trust us." Scorpius sneered. Draco placed an arm around Scorpius, smiling proudly.
"Cunning, like a real Slytherin. I'm really proud of your Scor." Draco beamed down at his scarred son. Scorpius merely nodded with a small thanks.
"Well I guess we'll leave you three to get ready. Meet us down at the Quidditch field. We're celebrating." Harry reminded.
Both men left quite awkwardly together, leaving Basil, Albus, and Scorpius to dress in their normal attire and prepare for whatever they were celebrating. Basil placed her hair in a ponytail as Scorpius walked behind her to reach his belongings; Basil spun around and embraced him lovingly.
"Merlin Scorpius, you were amazing back there. I'm so happy I could kiss you!" Basil exclaimed.
Scorpius returned the hug then looked back at the brunette girl. Both blushed intensely when the realized what Basil just said. It was awkwardly quiet as they just stared at each other, waiting for any words or movements towards each other. Scorpius leaned in and looked as if he was about to say something or do something.
"Guys!" Scorpius and Basil sprung away from each other. "How do I look?" Albus questioned like a goof. Large rounded glasses graced his Potter face.
"Like a doofus. " Scorpius sneered.
"You look great." Basil laughed. Both of them were still blushing madly.
"Did I just interrupt something?" Albus cocked his head to the side as he tried to read some hidden meaning.
"No!" Both exclaimed.
Albus nodded to his weird acting friends and suggested they retreat down to the field. Basil agreed while Scorpius picked up some final belongings. I don't know what happened there. Basil bashfully admitted to herself.
On their way to the field, everyone greeted them with an abundance of thank yous and a series of questions. Basil just replied with a hello and kept on her marry way; Scorpius would smile proudly while Albus clumsily tried to make out words. Luckily, they made it to the arena with no horribly embarrassing encounters and were welcomed by the whole Weasley-Potter-Longbottom clan.
"Guys!" Anna greeted each with a hug. "I love your glasses Albus." The messy haired boy blushed and murmured a thank you.
"Anna, we did it. We got the locket." Basil cheered.
Anna gazed down at the locket that Scorpius held in his hands; Anna jumped into Scorpius's arms and did another round of hugging and cheering. Soon enough, all the other Weasley kids cheered with them. Basil noticed an unusual amount of brooms lying on the ground; Oh great. Quidditch.
"We have a lot to celebrate here!" Ginny looked over at Neville and his wife Hannah.
"Yes, yes we do!" Neville laughed. "Hannah is having a baby!" Everyone cheered and gave him a hug.
"I do too," Teddy Lupin coughed; his arm was around Victoire. "I've taken a job here at Hogwarts."
Another round of cheering and hugs went around the large family. Basil beamed at the loving family; she's never seen her family this close-or even show much affection to be honest. It warmed her heart. James suggested a game of Quidditch, which everyone agreed, and started off for some brooms. Basil walked away from the family, Scorpius next to her, and waited by the stands.
"Why aren't you joining?" Basil questioned. Scorpius cocked his head.
"I'm a Malfoy. They don't want me." Scorpius sighed.
Basil rolled her eyes then pointed to the direction of his father. Draco was being challenged by Ron in what sounded like a Quidditch game to the death. Basil could sense that Scorpius felt unsure still so she gave him a little shove. Scorpius laughed at Basil's dumb antics and ran off to join his father's team. Basil relaxed in her seat as she was finally able to relax; that was until a tall shadow lingered over her.
"Don't you wanna play?" Harry asked as he sat next to her.
"The real question is why aren't you playing." Harry gave her an amused expression. "And I just don't like brooms."
"Well you're part of the family, come and play." Harry patted her back lovingly.
A sense of warmth filled Basil like no other. Her family never felt like home, her dad was always interested in other things and her mother was stiff and bitter. A smile lingered on the brunettes thin lips as she went to hug the older man. Harry merely chuckled.
"Now, I know you're not going to stop looking for these relics, but you need to know you don't have to. You can just let us handle it." Harry suggested.
"It's my grandfather though-"
"Doesn't matter. We'll handle it. But I see you don't give up and you really want to fight. Please promise me you'll be more careful if you do this again. I couldn't live with myself if any of you got hurt." A self-loathing tone echoed in Basil's ears. I can't let him down.
"I promise Mr. Potter. I swear I'll keep them all safe," Basil longingly glanced at her friends. "Even if it means giving up the relic."
"Thank you Basil. By the way, I highly advise taking Trelawney class. She may be a loon, but she might help you with your power. You won't regret it." Harry stood from his seat. "Also, you're welcome anytime at our house. Hope to see you in the summer."
"Thank you Mr. Potter."
Harry took one of the broomsticks and took for the sky, joining in on the fun and laughter. Basil took a few steps to the center of the game; everyone looked so happy as they played. A strange homey sensation coursed through Basil, as if she just returned home from war. Even as James Potter fell off his broom by a fly bludger from Lily, everyone laughed and looked happily. James swore grotesquely as he regained balance.
For once, Basil felt content with what was happening in that moment. Everyone was laughing, she had gained the Locket of Triton, and no one was horribly injured. Exception to Albus's eyes, but Basil knew he would get use to it. For once, all was calm. Basil took another glance at the field and back at the castle then felt an amazing relief overcome her. Till next year…till next year.
The End
…For now
