A/N: Sorry this chapter is so late been thinking and I might delete this story, re-write it and add in new chapters, what do you think?
My computer got bugged, it completely froze and deleted all my stuff! :'(
My thanks go out to both NightcatMau and the amazing guest who both gave me that boost of confidence, I've been working on this chapter for ages so hoping you enjoy!
The nightmares have started again, cruel, vivid things that play with my mind every night now. They weren't so bad before.
The voice is talking again - taunting me - it keeps saying it's going to come for me, soon it says but is it just a voice in my head? It's never that specific but it's been right before...
"Hello?" I called out into the fog.
Nothing.
It was different today, there was fog everywhere. I started walking along a long thin mud track. Then walls started to appear on my left, they started rotting slowly and a looked up a little there was a very tall large black fence on top of the walls, that too started rusting.
The whispers started. Vile, ugly things that kept me guessing; the whispers seemed familiar but was it just that they were there every night. The whispers guided me as a few of them were decipherable.
Nothing seemed to change until I came to a break in the wall, my eyes drifted up from the floor to stare at the old ageing gate, there were letters above the gate, but they were so rusted it was hard to make out.
I tried to see past the gate but to no avail, I slowly inched open the gate. Taking a deep breath, I slowly took a few steps forward.
The path seemed familiar to my eyes, and then I tripped. I'd tripped on a large piece of rock in the middle of the path and rolled of the path and hit what seemed to be a stone wall.
I looked up and nearly screamed.
It was a gravestone, I'd tripped on a fallen piece of it and landed next to the remains. I quickly got up wanting to get out of there as soon as possible, but my fall had completley disorientated me. I worked my way back to the path, I took a guess as to which way I was going and went right.
The path took me on confusing twists and turns but I ended up at one of the crypts, I was turning back when the whispers urged me to turn back - the letters had started re-arranging themsleves. The name on the crypt was changing, so many different names that seemed to ring a distant bell in my mind, I turned to run when I heard the door open. I didn't want to see the name nor who had walked into that crypt I just wanted to get out. So I ran, my feet tripping over one another at the fast corners. I stopped as I heard running footsteps behind me, whoever it was, was coming towards me and they weren't stopping.
I turned, the mysterious person was small, had long brown hair that escaped the hood of her deep emerald cloak and wore a knee - high cream and red dress and small white gloves. She kept running; and as I went to move out of her way, she disappeared like a ghost, I swung around and she had appeared behind me and somehow she was still running.
"Get a move on slow coach!" Laughed the little girl, she gave a playful push to another whilst in turn they chased after her.
She felt dizzy and stumbled.
Get me out of here please, just let me out.
Who was that? She looked around only to find the corridor empty apart from a few exceptions.
Her head hurt. She had to get to the auditions, it was only a little headache, it would pass right?
The house had seemed a little off, it seemed to have a buzz about it, something on the tip of your tongue yet still out of reach.
If she were to go somewhere, and looked like a teen, where would be the easiest place to hide?
He ran through his head everything he knew about her, but did he still know her?
Sure she was the same, but she wasn't at the same time.
She looked exactly the same, she acted the same, but she had changed her survival tactics. Had been forced to.
But she stil had her instincts and the first thing she'd do was find a place to stay.
It would have to be somewhere she'd blend in.
Somewhere she wouldn't have to worry about security.
Somewhere with lots of people, so it would be easy to slip by unnoticed.
He shook his head.
Let's just work with what we really know.
So she left three notes, and her necklace.
She had left a clue in his note,
If I am the key to everything, what am I?
To find me is simple, all you have to do,
To find me is to find the windows, that's all you need to do.
Then there was her necklace, which she wouldn't have accidentley left, it was one of few things that reminded her of who she was and what her past was like, so why leave it?
He took the delicate metal chain out of his pocket, it was bare except from from three silver circles knotted into the metal, the middle depicted a skull which represented death, on the right was two crossed swords, which told her her father was a blacksmith, and the left was a triple knot with two initials A and G, a name possibly?
She stared out of the glass window facing the stage, it was the auditions for the show and she was now completley booked every lunch for rehearsals.
She slumped over the table in front of her and stretched out a yawn.
Boy, was she tired, but she couldn't sleep something kept telling her not to and three days without sleep just made it even harder. A few minutes couldn't hurt, could it?
She slowly closed her eyes and the world slipped away.
She sat up and stretched, looking out the window and to her surprise finding no one at all.
She got up and found a small leather bound book on the table where up until a couple of minutes ago she was enjoying her snooze.
She turned and looked at the small analog clock on the opposite wall, it had stopped right after she fell asleep it seemed.
But then, everyone couldn't have just vanished in less than ten seconds, could they?
She turned to the book again, cautiously edging towards it. The book was just plain brown, very old but nothing weird - yet.
She picked up the book and flicked through it. An old notebook of some kind, some of the pages even had drawings. She replaced the book and looked out the window again.
People can't just disappear into thin air and books can't just appear out of it, so the question remains what happened?
Looking around the room nothing else had changed, glancing out the window to the stage once more the only changes she could find was the music had stopped and everyone had disappeared - but only the people - all their belongings sat still and quietly among the chairs.
Weird.
She heard a squeking noise, like a whiteboard pen, she turned slowly around the room trying to find the source of the noise.
She stopped as she saw somebody had drawn on her calendar, a girl symbol with an explanation mark on it and there was a name next to it, Maddie's? Then more symbols were drawn each new day another skull and cross bones were drawn and more people with a question mark on them.
Then it just stopped.
She stared at the dates, the first day with symbols drawn was tomorrow and something was going to happen to Maddie.
Hope you liked! Will try to write more chapters soon but atm I've been snowed under with work.
