The Promise chapter 20
"I live in the area, why are you so shocked? Asked Lorie
"You were out of the country." Linda snapped back!
"I've returned dear sister." She walked in looking around her surroundings.
"You have the nerve the show up after what you did to Eddie and Loren?"
"It really doesn't matter, I just heard he married her, wasn't he married already?"
"Lorie answer one thing why did you do all of this? why so much hate for Loren?"
Lorie rolled her eyes. "Evidently you've forgotten everything?"
"Forgotten what Lorie? You hurt your own nephew, why?"
Lorie turned with a mean glare towards Linda. "You forgot who took care of you and Katy after our parents died?"
"Of course not you would never let us forget, what does that have to do with all of this?"
"You've been so blind or you're just plain stupid Linda, I was 21 when I was left with you at 17 and Katy was 15, I had no life after that!"
"Aunt Marilyn wanted to care for us but you insisted, so it's our fault now?"
"The point is a year later I met Max, I fell in love with him, I thought he felt the same, but by the time I realized he only had eyes for Katy who was 18 by then it was too late, I cried myself to sleep every night, wondering what was wrong with me, then a year later he marries her, I felt hurt, betrayed."
"Lorie that wasn't Katy's fault or Max's, he never told you anything, he always loved Katy."
"She took the man meant for me away, then had the son that was supposed to be mine!"
Linda furrowed her eye brows. "Lorie is that why you wanted to separate Eddie from Loren?"
"He was the same as Max, only had eyes for Loren, it was the same old story, at least Katy had something to offer, Loren had nothing, a broken home, and Eddie had eyes only for her, loved only her."
Linda was in shock, she felt sick, her sister was crazy!
"You know what, you're crazier than I thought, you better just go, if Eddie sees you he's not going to be happy at all."
"I tried doing him a favor, obviously he didn't learn, he's just like Max, blinded by beauty.'
Linda walked to open the door. "Please leave Lorie and don't come back!"
"What happened to the mansion?"
"It was sold, that was Eddie's decision as sole owner of the property and none of your business."
"That was supposed to be my home too, so who owns this home, I assume Eddie does?"
"Lorie I told you to leave, you're not welcomed here, Eddie will be back from his honeymoon and he will tell you the same thing."
"I'm leaving, don't worry, I wanted to come and congratulate Loren, she beat me, she was smart like Katy was."
Linda shook her head. "I don't understand what the issue is, Eddie has and will always love Loren, and now she is his wife, live with that Lorie and." Lorie interrupted her.
"This is how you show your gratitude huh?"
Linda felt the room filling with tension; she couldn't believe what she had just heard.
"I've always been grateful for all you did, but we never stopped you from finding your own happiness Lorie, you just set your eyes on Max, but he loved Katy, she was his life, and together they built that amazing career that gave them so much happiness and to add to their happiness, they had their son Eddie."
Lorie rolled her eyes and let out a sarcastic laugh. "He loved Loren so much he married that stick model."
"What matters now is Loren."
"What about his son Alex?"
"His life consists of Alex and now Loren."
Linda walked pointing to the door.
"He loves Loren, everybody loves her but you Lorie."
Lorie finally made her way to the door. "He deserves better."
"He has the best Lorie, leave them alone."
Lorie left without saying anything else, Linda closed the door. She leaned against it closing her eyes; finally she knew why her sister was so bitter for all these years.
The week flew by for Loren and Eddie and they returned from their honeymoon. The limo dropped them off in front of their home. The driver unloaded their entire luggage and left, Eddie stopped Loren from walking to the door.
He carried her. "Eddie!"
"I'm carrying you inside babe." Loren held his face with her two hands and kissed him. The door suddenly opened.
"Daddy and Loren you're home!"
Eddie and Loren turned to look at a smiling Alex. "Hey big guy, we're home."
He walked in and put Loren down as soon as they entered the house.
Loren kneeled down to his eye level. "Come here Alex, I need your hugs."
"Loren Aunt Linda says you're my mommy now."
Loren hugged him. "Yes sweetie, I'm your mommy now."
"I always told daddy to marry you and he did."
Loren looked up towards Eddie; he smiled and blew her a kiss. Linda walked in. "Hey lovebirds you're home."
Eddie walked over to hug her. "Yes and thank you for staying with Alex."
"Anytime, I'm packed and ready to leave."
"Linda you don't have to leave."
Linda smiled. "I know Loren, but Mindy is having her baby soon and she's going to need me, plus you and Eddie are starting your life together along with Alex."
Loren hugged her. "Thank you Linda."
"I've send my things to my Condo, so I'll leave around noon." She turned to Eddie. "Lorie showed up."
"What did she want?"
"It's a long story Eddie, I fill you in later, you just arrived from your honeymoon."
Loren heard and walked towards them. "She's back in the area?"
"Loren babe, don't worry, if she comes here, she will be in a lot of trouble."
The thought of knowing Lorie was back scared Loren; she knew how much that woman hated her. She walked away; Eddie saw her and hugged her from behind. "Hey, I'm here now, and for good and like I said before, she won't bother you."
Loren turned to face him. "She separated us the first time Eddie, and she was successful."
"You're my wife now, I'll have Jake call security to come around the house when I'm not here, if you see her, call me, they will know what to do."
Loren hugged Eddie. "I never want to be away from you again Eddie."
Eddie smiled. "I love you babe, you won't have too."
Linda left and later met with Nora for lunch, she told her about her conversation with Lorie.
"Oh my God Linda, she's really sick!"
"I know Nora, when I heard what she told me about Max, she's so bitter."
"Katy use to wonder why she behaved so hateful after she and Max married."
"Max was a friend, he never led her on, I know because the moment Max met Katy, his eyes belonged only to her."
Nora smiled. "Sort of Eddie with Loren."
"Exactly why she hated Loren so much, she saw Max and Katy all over again, Eddie has security doing rounds at his home, he's not taking any chances."
"Eddie will be leaving on tour soon with Loren and Alex; I think that will help and keep her away." Replied Nora.
"He's covering most of the state of Texas."
"Eddie is going to do amazing! Now that Loren is at his side."
Nora blushed. "He loves my girl so much Linda, she's very happy."
"It long overdue, they should have been together a long time ago."
Eddie's next tour was on its way, he headed to his Jet with Loren and Alex, the crew loaded all of their belongings and they boarded and were off to Dallas, Texas.
When they landed, thousands of fans waited to greet Eddie, he waved and they screamed his name, "Eddie we love you!" Loren encouraged him to go sign some autographs and take some pictures with them. She stood by the limo with Alex.
"Why do they scream so much for daddy Loren?"
"They love daddy's music, so they came to see him."
"Am I going to get girls to do that for me Loren?"
Loren laughed as she looked down at him. "Are you going to be into music too?"
"I want to do movies, maybe I'll sing too."
Eddie was signing autographs and the gossip reporters started their questions.
"Eddie how is marriage the second time around?"
"Is the honeymoon over?"
"Does Alex like Loren?"
He smiled and waved, he didn't bother to answer any of their questions, he walked back to Loren and Alex.
Loren noticed he was upset. "Everything ok?"
"They always have stupid questions."
The driver opened the door and were driven to the hotel. They were taken to the top penthouse suite.
Alex ran in excited. "Wow look at the windows daddy."
"You can see everything."
Before Loren could go anywhere Eddie stopped her. "Babe come here." He pulled her close enough and kissed her. "This is for you."
He handed her a small box. "Eddie you have to stop doing this, you're spoiling me."
"You can't even imagine how excited and happy I am that we're married; this is our 4th month wedding anniversary gift for you."
Loren blushed. "Thank you Eddie, you know I don't need gifts. " She opened to find a beautiful charm bracelet. "It's beautiful Eddie."
She pulled him towards her and kissed him. "I love you so much."
"I love you more Loren, you tried to hide it but I could tell the moment our eyes locked the first time I met my son's tutor."
Loren looked away, she was blushing. "Was I that obvious?"
"I love it when you blush."
"I was so hurt, I thought I wasn't going to see you ever again, then I realized I was going to be tutoring your son, I tried to run, but he wanted me to return, I just couldn't say no to him, then hearing you come in, I had to face you Eddie, I wanted so bad to slap you right there."
Eddie laughed holding his cheek. "Ouch that bad huh?"
Loren hung from his neck. "Let's forget about that."
She leaned in to kiss him again. Alex walked back to towards them. "Are you guys going to do that a lot?"
Eddie smiled. "When you're in love like we are, yes we will."
Loren broke away from Eddie. "Come on Alex. Let's get your things in your room. Did you bring all of your books?"
"Just the ones I like Loren."
"And how many is that?"
Alex dragged his book bag behind him following Loren.
"Alex that bag is going to break."
"I have all of my favorite books Loren."
"Ok let's set them up in that book case and your toys will go in that box we brought with us ok?"
Alex did as he was told; Loren started to put his clothes away in the drawers of his room.
"Loren will I still have lessons?"
"Oh yes, that's not going to stop, you will have school even though we are traveling with daddy."
"Can we go to the pool later?"
"Yes we will also have fun Alex, believe me when I tell you that you won't be bored."
"Ok my books are all put away, now what Loren?"
"Put your toys in that box; make sure you pick everything up."
Loren smiled when she saw him do as she told him, she got up and felt dizzy, she tried to hold on as she looked for a place to sit.
"Alex." He turned towards her. "Yes?"
"Help me sit down please, I'm not feeling too well."
Before Alex could reach her, Loren held her head and suddenly collapsed to the floor.
Alex ran to her. "Loren what's wrong?"
He ran out of the room. "Daddy!"
Eddie was coming in with lunch. "What's wrong?"
"Loren fell, she's on the floor."
Eddie dropped the bags running to Alex's room.
