Epilogue
Edmund and Thalia slowly became closer, revealing, piece by piece, step by step, different parts of their life, the happy ones as well as the sad ones. Of course, they tried to hide from the others the fact that they were miserably in love, but greatly failed. Only after a few days, Lucy, who was always as interested in Edmund's love life, spotted them holding hands, looking at the sunset in the gardens. The gardens soon became Thalia's favourite place in Narnia, and secretly, it was Edmund's as well. Although having to endure series of teasing (from his siblings, obviously), Edmund was always happy. He increasingly got closer, not only to Thalia, but with his family, and came out of his shell. He got to meet Narnians, and was pleased to notice that nobody considered him as a traitor, just like Thalia was overjoyed to see that nobody considered her as different, even less as a monster. She was not scared to show her weakness, her feelings. Thalia became close friends with Lucy and Susan, and a very good adviser for Peter. She still beat Edmund in almost every sword fight. A slow but effective healing took place on Thalia and Edmund, both leaning onto each other for support, growing stronger together. Thalia felt like she'd always belonged in Narnia, slowly forgetting about demi-gods. Edmund helped Thalia build her life and home in the castle, in Narnia.
After a year in Narnia, Thalia disappeared. The Pevensies were worried, Edmund sending out his wolves to look for her, Peter set out a reward for anyone who would find her, Lucy asked every tree, river, and earth nymph if they had seen her. Susan, she rode through Narnia, Archenland and even Calormen, desperate. All their efforts were in vain. After a month, Aslan visited them. These were his words:
"Children, do not worry. Thalia has returned to her home-land. She is surrounded by family, friends and joy."
This came as a relief to everyone to know that the Narnian's saviour was safe and happy. Bittersweet was what they would call her leave. But it was not quite that. An emotion with no name was actually it. They were sad, for their friend had left without a goodbye. But deep in their heart they knew that, though they would never see each other, they would be forever bonded, thought of, never forgotten. They were happy, because, unconsciously, they knew that Thalia had made them better people, and they had done the same for her.
Edmund often would seat and think of Thalia, and since she hadn't brought her pack with her, he kept everything in it. The only object missing was her shield. He switched his sword for Thalia's, and cherished every object and memory she left behind.
Though he never told anyone, he would sometimes would listen to her music, slowly to start develop a liking for rock music.
A month before, Thalia had woken up and found herself at camp half-blood, around her, her family had spilled tears at her arrival. To their surprise, she did as well. They noticed she was more open and joyful. She never told anyone about where she had been, but they didn't mind, overjoyed to see that not that she had changed much, but seemed less unhappy. She still put out tempers, acted dumb, and acted priority-like. But at least, she would recognize her mistakes, she related to her friends, she apologized for her rudeness, and even laughed at her own foolishness, and did her best to be useful and kind. She was still tough, protective of her family, and still killed and insulted any monster, and still was the punk of before. But in a better version. What surprised her family though was the small flowerbed she set out behind her cabin, and how many sunsets and nights she spent sitting on a bench, right next to her flowerbed, a look of pure happiness, well-being and bliss on her face. What she didn't know was that back in Narnia, Edmund would often, the same nights and sunsets, would take a few hours off of being a king and would look up to the sky, both of them sharing the same thoughts and memories.
And who knows? Maybe they'll meet again.
Should I do a sequel? I already have a couple of ideas…
