Chapter 20: The End of the War

Phoebe's POV

Everyone was fighting like there was no tomorrow-which we didn't know if there would be. Clarisse was still fighting off everyone she could as the drakon's head dragged behind her chariot, and Chris was in the chariot guarding her. Travis and Katie were taking on a water spirit by using fire to evaporate it. Most of the Camp fought off regular monsters while the Hunters slashed weird monsters that most people didn't know existed. Connor and I were fighting about five Cyclopes and eight Laistrygonians.

"Must kill Percy. He killed JoeBob." A Laistrygonian said.

"And I killed you." Connor said as he pulled his sword out of it's back.

It evaporated into yellow dust.

"I heard Annabeth killed one of them that way. But she said Lay off my friend." I giggled.

"No, I think that's what she said to the kid who was bullying Percy when she punched him." Connor chuckled.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"Because they fill out paperwork explaining what happened during their quests, and I read the files." He grinned.

A few minutes later, Thalia came back from Olympus and I heard that one of Hera's statues dropped on her legs. Annabeth and Percy were still up there looking for Luke. Percy's mortal friend Rachel was talking to Chiron about some weird visions she'd been having. When Rachel had originally showed up, Annabeth looked jealous and stormed back to HQ to help with some battle plans.

"I don't know why Annabeth's so jealous, I haven't done anything to her." Rachel said.

"I think someone mentioned that you gave Percy a goodbye kiss when Charles picked him up while you two were in Paul's car." Chiron shrugged.

"If I go through with this, I won't be able to date anyway." Rachel muttered.

Maybe that's why Annabeth was Rachel's friend in the future. Then all the monsters suddenly stopped attacking and fled.

"I told you I'd scare them away!" Clarisse shouted.

"No offense, but I don't think that was just you." Chris suggested.

"No, this is what happened last time we fought Kronos. It was the end of the Golden Age. Kronos had been defeated and all his armies knew it, so they surrendered." Chiron offered.

"Are you sure? Because I really don't want a surprise attack as soon as we let our guard down." Thalia checked.

As if to confirm what Chiron had said, Annabeth and Percy walked out of the Empire State building with expressions that were a mix between sullen and relieved.

"Is it over?" Clarisse spoke first.

"Yes." Percy said.

"And Luke?" Thalia looked afraid of the answer.

"Sacrificed himself." Annabeth sounded numb.

Annabeth pulled Thalia into a hug before she could run away.

"Luke was a hero when he died." Percy said it as if it were a fact rather than an opinion.

"If he sacrificed himself, even I'll agree to that." Clarisse muttered.

"That statement coming from someone who has every reason to hate him proves that Luke really is a hero." Chris agreed.

"That's what we'll remind future generations of. Luke was a hero when it mattered most." Chiron said.

"Definately." Artemis suddenly appeared.

The other Olympians appeared along with her.

"Typhon gave up as soon as Kronos died. He tried to hit us with one last blow, but he didn't stick around to be sure we were dead." Poseidon spoke.

"Everyone should go back to Camp. We're not having a celebration for now, and I don't think you want to help us clean up the rubble after all that fighting." Zeus said.

Everyone took that as their cue to leave.

"Do you want to help rebuild Olympus after you've rested Annabeth? You could be the new architect." Athena offered.

"I'll tell you when I'm ready." Annabeth agreed.

Annabeth started following the Campers and Percy was about to go with her before Athena pulled him back.

"You have a fair amount of my trust now because I know what you've been doing for Annabeth and everyone else over the last few days. So I wouldn't be comlpetely opposed to you asking her a question that you've been wanting to ask her for some time now." Athena sighed.

"What question?" Percy asked.

"About you two dating. Now I see why she calls you Seaweed Brain." Athena rolled her eyes.

"Oh." Percy blushed as he ran in Annabeth's direction.

The other Olympians were giggling and chuckling.

"I wonder why it's takan them so long?" Connor laughed.

"Probably because Annabeth's nervous and stubborn, and Percy's nervous about her saying no and he thinks he's stupid enough to mix up the signals. It probably would've happened sooner if eryone didn't call him stupid. He at least knows that Seaweed Brain is more of an endearment than an insult." I explained.

"I never even thought of it that way." Connor admitted.

"You probably should. Men usually feel more likely to mix up signals compared to how few they actually miss." Hera said as she passed by.

"So go with your gut or just ask me." I smiled.

"Will do Captain." Connor grinned.

Then he kissed me.

(A/N: I'll continue the story to show them during the Giant War AFTER I read Blood of Olympus when it comes out. This is the ending until then.)
