After I got Percy all cleaned up, I got a text from Nico. "Meet me (+Thalia) at the park at 123 blue street at 10 am bring your voice ;)" I was genuinely curious of his intentions but a nudge tore me away from my thoughts. "Do you want to practice for the duet?" Percy asked. I had thought about what form of dance we would do but-for once-I had nothing.
After agreeing I grabbed my phone and speaker then led Percy outside to the backyard. Years ago when Sue became my step-monster I refused to come over unless they show some grand gesture to prove to me that they actually cared. That gesture was building a small dance studio. I had just fell in love with dance and I had a weak moment.
I met Thalia in the second grade. We had become best friends since she dumped glue on the boy who pulled my pigtails. I met Juniper and Katie soon after because I joined Chorus. I attended a dance class right after my mom found out about Sue. Mom said something about 'releasing stress' so I did what any nervous girl would, I called Thalia.
We soon fell in love with dance. Aphrodite owned and oversaw our rehearsals and that's were I met Piper and Selina. I got Juniper and Katie to attend a class and we all clicked. We participated in a local dance competition a year or two later and won. We constantly messed around with new sound and started singing.
Soon we were playing at local events and we became 'The Catch'. I didn't realize that I was paused outside the door until I felt the wooden door press into my back. I was suddenly aware of strong hands on my waist and hair tickling my temple. I looked up to see a pair of clouded sea green eyes. Percy's hand cupped my face and lifted it so I was looking up.
I felt it before I could see it. A hot breath touched my neck and soon was met with lips. I gasped and my hands soon found his raven locks. My head remaining the only thing on the door after my body rose to meet with a more desirable one. I felt my knees wobbling and knew I was unstable but barely remembering my own name, it didn't seem that important.
For the first time in my whole life, I was speechless. I'm pretty sure my eyes rolled in the back of my head because before I knew it I was lifted in the air and my legs were wrapped around Percy's waist. I'm pretty sure my mouth was set in a 'o' shape. I couldn't believe that Percy, my competitor and my flirtatious friend, broke down my walls; physically and mentally.
When I could actually feel my senses back I found his face around my collarbone area, and I softly grabbed his face so I could see his gorgeous eyes, and was so close just another inch and we would be kissing. Our breath kissed and his eyes shifted from my eyes to my mouth.
I was just about to give in when a light flashed from the house and I heard a loud "STRIKE TWO"
Percy jumped and my head once again met the door in front of the studio. "Ow" came out automatically. Percy put me down and cradled my head in his hands searching for the bump. "Are you okay? I didn't mean to jump but your step-mother is quite scary." Percy said hugging me tightly.
I cleared my throat and blushed remembering what just happened. I think Percy thought the same thing because he was scratching the back of his neck with a similar colored blush. "Um do you want to go inside and practice?" I asked trying to push what just happened from jumping Percy right there. "Good idea wisegirl, lead the way."
I pressed the pass code on the door and I walked into a confined space with the guy I like, great. I set up my speaker and it started blasting "The Other Side" by Jason Derulo (look up the cover with KeKe Palmer and Max Schneider) I made eye contact with Percy as I started stretching and he started singing.

I was speechless time and time again by this guy. But there is one final test, dancing. If we mesh it will solve all my doubt. I played "Desparcito" and was excited to do a salsa type of dance, if Percy was up to it. I watch Percy saunter up to me and grabbing my hand and immediately twirling me and we were soon chest to chest. As the song progressed out hips swayed perfectly. I felt like I was in a trance and our bodies knowing each others move immediately.
After a few more twirls and dips we were nose to nose. We were both out of breath and sweaty. "That was easier than I thought." Percy said moving away to grab his water bottle.
I picked up my phone that I used to play the music while recording us dance. I sat down the bench and re watched the dance. I had to shake my head a couple times in disbelief because there was no way I moved like that! I showed Percy the video and we could literally find maybe two things wrong with it.
"In two days we are leaving for New York to visit your mom, is there anything you would like me to know beforehand?" I asked curious if she was going to be mean or strict. "She is the sweetest person in the whole world, she makes the best chewiest most delicious blue chocolate chip cookies ever, and I think she will love you- except for the hickey on your neck." With those shocking final words and a smirk, he took off running towards the house.
"PERSEUS JACKSON YOU DID NOT!"
