Day 20: Synecdoche

"He's asleep," Edgeworth said.

Trucy looked over her shoulder into the flat and then turned back to Edgeworth with a grin.

"Yeah," she said, "I guess you can come back some other time."

Edgeworth frowned and then rubbed the bridge of his nose between his thumb and forefinger.

"He's been a regular Rip Van Winkle all afternoon!" Trucy said nervously.

"I don't have time to just show up and then leave at his whim. I'm on a schedule."

"Oh," Trucy said, "I guess we'll need to set up another appointment."

"Maybe I should just wake him up," Edgeworth said.

"What?" Trucy took a defensive stance, "Please don't!"

Edgeworth frowned, "Did something happen to your Papa?"

"He's fine," Trucy grinned, "Just dandy! Sleeping like a baby!"

"Okay, your first attempt at synecdoche was flawless, but not all babies are sleeping all the time."

Trucy gave him a puzzled look and then she grinned again.

Edgeworth moved as if to shove past her into the door.

"Mister Edgeworth!" Trucy said, "You wouldn't push in here while I'm home alone like some kind of Dahmer?"

"Um…" Edgeworth blushed slightly in embarrassment, "Jeffrey Dahmer only attacked men."

"Okay, you mean that apropos of what exactly?"

"In so far as your attempt at synecdoche," Edgeworth said, "please stop."

"Sorry," Trucy said, "But Daddy's asleep and you can't come in."

"It's three in the afternoon, why is he asleep?"

Trucy blushed slightly and smiled sheepishly at him, "I may have poisoned him."

"What?"

Trucy slammed the door.

A/N: Yes it's me, I'm back. I'm hoping to crank out another 20 of these, they're actually a lot harder to write than you might think! .

As always thanks for reading and I'd love a review. I am always open to comments or suggestions!
