A girl. She was having a girl. Could the baby be mine? It was possible. Those thoughts kept Derek up that night. Penelope had left with D seconds after reading that text. He had so many emotions, so many questions, going through him right now. He thought of Penelope's reaction. As soon as she read the message, she had gathered D and left. She didn't give him a chance to say anything. He didn't blame her for running. He wanted to run himself. Savannah had texted him again wanting to talk to him. He never responded. He didn't feel like talking to her. He needed to think.

Two days later was sitting in his office when Savannah strolled in and sat down. He stared at her before leaning back in his chair.

"I've texted you and you never text back. I even called you."

"What do you want?"

"Are you excited about having a daughter?"

"Savannah, I won't be anything until I have the results in my hand telling me that is my daughter."

"I don't understand what would make you think you weren't the father. Do you think I cheated on you?"

"Honestly Savannah, I wouldn't put anything past you."

"I have been nothing but faithful to you even while we have been separated." He just stared at her. "I received a court order saying that a paternity test will be done as soon as the baby is born."

"I can't get a divorce until then but I wanted to know if the baby is mine or not."

"Are we going to be a family when it proves that you are her father?"

"No Savannah. Whether I am or not the father, I will still be divorcing you and setting up my custodial rights."

"I won't let you come near her when all this backfires in your face. No judge is going to grant you visitation rights when they find out what you did while I was pregnant."

"Well we'll see won't we?"

"You are going to regret this Derek."

She turned to leave. "Oh by the way, D is getting so big. It was funny watching him try to turn over and reach for his toys."

Derek stood up. "What the hell are you talking about? When did you see him?"

"I know all about that woman coming back to work here. I know all about your son being in the daycare here. Does she think he is safe here? There is all kinds of freaks out there."

"Are you threatening my son?"

"I wouldn't do that. I was merely mentioning the dangers out there. You should know better than anyone about monsters."

She laughed as she walked out the door. He waited five minutes before he ran to the elevator and went to the floor the daycare was on. He looked through the windows until he spotted his son. He was on the floor on his tummy trying to reach for a toy. He breathed a sigh of relief and opened the door. He went straight to him and sat down next to him. D raised his head a little and spotted his daddy. He started kicking his legs and cooing. Derek reached over and picked him up. He gathered him to his chest and held him close.

"I won't let anyone get to you." he whispered.

"Agent Morgan, is something wrong?"

"No Cindy. I just wanted to see him." he said. "How has he been?"

"He's good. He always so happy, always cooing at everyone."

"You haven't noticed anyone hanging around that shouldn't be."

"No. I haven't but I don't know about anyone else."

"You know only Penelope, me or my mother are the only ones that can come and get him."

"Yes Agent Morgan, I know there is a Savannah Morgan that is not allowed to come near him. We pretty much know who can get him and who can't. We have to ask for ID on anyone we don't recognize. Don't worry, this is one of the safest place for him to be."

"I know but I just don't trust a lot of people." He kissed D on his head. "Ok little man, I need to get back to work."

He handed D back to Cindy and left. He didn't see Savannah hanging around the corner watching him. She wasn't sure if D was there or not but it was so easy to mess with Derek. Now she knew where he was. She wondered how easy it would be to get him. She would have to think of her next steps very carefully because that baby was the only thing standing in the way. Derek would come back to her if his son wasn't in the picture.

It was moving day for Penelope and D. Fran had offered to watch D while she moved their things. Spence had hired movers and Derek came to help. Spence saw Derek but didn't act any different towards him. Penelope took just her things and D's. She left everything else for Spence, since he paid for all of it. She left the movers with the men and went to her apartment to wait for them. Soon they showed up and it didn't take long for them to unload the boxes and D's furniture. She didn't realize how much stuff he had until she had to pack all his stuff.

"Are you going to get anything out of storage?" Spence asked.

"I need to go get some furniture."

"We can use Derek's truck to get it."

"Sure, it it's ok with him."

Spence asked Derek and he agreed so they went to the storage place. They took her things out and then told them where she wanted certain stuff. She went to work on D's room since he was coming home tonight. Spence came in about an hour later.

"Hey Pen, I'm going to go. I'm going out with some friends later."

"I really appreciate everything you did for D and me. I wish I could have been what you wanted me to be."

"It's ok Pen. I don't regret anything. I would have wished things could have turned out different but we're still friends and I will always be here for you no matter what."

He kissed her on the cheek and he left. Derek waited ten minutes before he went to help. They ordered pizza for dinner when they were finished. Fran brought D home and her curious little man looked around the room. Pen hoped their new home didn't throw him off too bad.

The next few months brought no new drama. Penelope went to work and spent her time with her son. Derek ended up with case after case sometimes with only a day between. He skyped as much as he could so he could see his son but it was beginning to take its toll on D. Spence still skyped Pen and he still saw D. Fran had D once a week and nothing had changed on that front.

D was now approaching his six month and was now sitting up by himself and learning to get on his hands and knees and rock. He's not crawling yet but it is only a matter of time. He also started eating baby food which he loves. He's getting bigger every day and Pen falls in love more and more. He also more vocal that ever before. If he wakes up and doesn't see Pen he starts crying which makes it hard for Penelope when she is at work. She can't even walk out or the room or he starts crying. She thinks he acts like that because Derek is gone so much in the last month and half.

Because of the way D had been acting, she no longer sees him on her lunch break. It takes Cindy at least thirty minutes to get him to settle down. So she decided to go to the deli across the street. She sat down to eat her lunch when Savannah sat down opposite of her. Penelope caught a glimpse of her baby bump.

"Eating all alone?"

"What do you want?"

"I came to talk to my friend."

"We are not friends."

"That's true. I couldn't be friends with my husband's mistress now can I?"

"I'm trying to eat my lunch so can you please go."

"Did Derek tell you we are having a girl?"

"Actually I was with him when you sent him that text."

Pen could see the flash of anger in her eyes. "Did he also tell you that he is moving back home?"

"I don't care what he does. If that is what he's going to do than I am happy for him. That is what you want, for him to go back to you."

"He wants us to be a family. The three of us. He just talks nonstop about our daughter. He can't wait until she gets here."

"Derek is an amazing father."

"Don't get mad when he doesn't have time for your son anymore. He will have other priorities now."

"I guess you don't Derek like you think you do because Derek would never abandon his son. You should know that."

"Not if I have anything to say in the matter."

"You don't have a say in anything that concerns our son." she said. "I'm tired of these games you want to play. It's like your trying to one up me. Trying to show me you are better than me. I don't care what you and Derek do. As long as Derek does right by his son then you can play house all you want. But if you want my opinion, I think you are delusional. Derek doesn't plan on going back to you, no matter what. You see Savannah, what you don't know is that Derek talks to me about your relationship with him or what little of that you have with him."

"If you weren't whoring yourself, he might come home."

Pen laughed. "Not that's it's any of your business, but since you seem to think that is what I am doing, maybe I should give Derek what he wants."

With that Penelope gets up and leaves. She doesn't see the anger in Savannah face or the napkin that she crumbled in her hand. She pulls out her phone. She dials and waits.

"We need to talk and start planning."

She listens for a few seconds, hangs up and smiles. Let's see if you are going to be smiling when I put my plan into action, bitch. She leans back in the chair and laughs.

Penelope knows she shouldn't goad Savannah like that but she just gets so angry with the comments she makes. She knows that Derek doesn't have any intention of getting back with that evil woman. Not even if that little baby turns out to be his daughter. She was walking back to her office when she heard someone call her name. She turned to see who it was and smiled. She hurriedly walked back and threw herself into their arms.

"I'm so glad you're back Derek."

"I've missed you too Pen and D."

He pulled back and stared down at her before lowering his head to kiss her. A kiss she returned with everything she had.
