Chapter Twenty:

~Allen~

I woke up to someone talking. I wasn't sure about what they were saying but when I opened my eyes, it was to Komui standing beside me with dangerous-looking equipment.

I screamed and fell off my bed while Komui looked on as if he had nothing to do with it.

'Good Morning Allen, did you have a good sleep?' he asked as I growled and clambered back onto the bed. I touched my head as it throbbed gently.

'It would have been okay if you weren't carrying all that… how long was I out?' I asked as Komui put the equipment down and pulled up a chair.

'Both you and Lenalee were comatose for several weeks,'

Several weeks, huh? I guess that would make sense with injures that we both sustained battling against Road. I lifted my bandaged right arm and lightly touched my left eye.

A bandage covered it and I still couldn't feel it. But when I thought back to how it became this way I flinched.

'What about Miranda?'

'She was sent to Headquarters a few days after you two were administered to hospital,' he replied reassuringly as I sighed with relief. At least it was one thing off my chest. But then something else began to bother me…

'Komui, we met a girl who claimed that she was the true Apostle of God… do you know anything about that?' Komui's face darkened almost like he was reluctant to tell me.

'She was probably from the Clan of Noah, a group of people who serve the Earl. You're pretty lucky to survive moyashi-chan,' I glared at the person to utter that nickname and noticed Lavi casually leaning against the door. But then I thought back to what he said before.

The Clan of Noah…

'What's worse is that the Noah have made their move and have already attacked General Yeegar,' I blinked, they attacked a General?

'Is he all right?' I was afraid of the answer as Komui shook his head gravely.

'He only lasted the night we found him. General Yeegar was unresponsive except for the song he constantly sung over and over again,' I watched Komui put his head into his hands. I think that it was safe to say that Komui had seen the General in his final moments if he was this distraught.

Then I thought about Lenalee… the poor man was under a great amount of stress right now.

'About what?'

'The Earl's begun his search for a certain piece of innocence known as the Heart but no one knows where…?' I went rigid as Lavi was suddenly flung across the room by an old man.

'Stupid idiot! Who said that you could babble without permission?' The old man cracked as I sat on the bed confused. What was going on?

'Aw don't be mad old panda, I'm going to take your place sooner or later,' Lavi jeered despite rubbing the back of his head. The old man snorted before whacking Lavi across the head again.

'Mind that mouth of yours. Who says I'm dying when I have such an idiot on my hands?'

'Komui, who is that?' The old man then looked at me and I couldn't help but feel slightly intimidated by it.

'I am simply called Bookman, you already know Lavi… It is a pleasure to meet you Miss Walker,' He offered his hand to me and I took it politely.

'Just call me Allen, Bookman,'

'Now let's have a look at your eye,' I grimaced at his words but let him remove the wrapping. The wound still hurt but it was a bearable pain as I watched Bookman stare at it with unchanging eyes. I found that rather uncomfortable, it was almost like he was judging me.

'This is very peculiar, your eye seems to be regenerating of its own accord,' he stood back before grabbing a patch and placed it over my left eye. I gingerly touched it again before placing my hand back into my lap.

Then I suddenly felt some weight being added to my shoulder before I turned and saw Timcampy sitting there. He snuggled closer underneath my chin like he was happy to find that I was awake.

'It's nice to see you too Tim,' I murmured back giving the golem a pat.

'I hate to break such a mood but things couldn't have been more dire. Once Lenalee wakes up, you have both been tasked to search for General Cross Marian with Bookman and Lavi,'

I almost slipped off the bed again.

'Wait… What?' I stuttered but Komui put his hand up for silence. He wasn't even giving me anytime to complain about this.

'No arguments Allen, since you are his apprentice you will help with locating him,' then I watched Komui's mood darken, I was amazed at how disturbed and serious Komui was being at this time. He was usually the one throwing a fit over Lenalee and coffee.

….

'We can't lose the Generals so you are to go and convince General Cross to come back to Headquarters,'

'Good luck with that,' I muttered under my breath as I sat outside in the hospital courtyard. Timcampy circled above my head without a single care in the world but that was just my opinion.

'Did you say something moyashi-chan?' I huffed angrily as I stared at Lavi who was busy making snowmen. He was currently lifting a ball of snow to put it on top of another larger ball.

'I'm just not looking forward to finding my Master is all, besides my name's Allen,' I adjusted my long coat over my shoulders. It was slightly annoying now that my hair had grown; it kept getting caught under the collar. I began fingering the long white strands.

Maybe I should cut it short again...

'Don't look so sourly at your hair Allen, it looks really nice long,' I felt my cheeks heat up when I saw him staring at me with that goofy look of his. Then I frowned just to hide my embarrassment.

'Shut up,' I growled at Lavi but it just made him laugh and continued fixing up another snowman. Though I wasn't going to admit it, his words made me think.

I wonder… would Tyki notice if I ever met him again?

….
