A/N: Hey guys, I'd like to be serious for a moment, if I may. Look, I know that the year is going very fast and it's coming to end soon, but right now, it's December and I'm not too sure if I'm gonna post two chapters of my story this month due to me getting ready for Christmas. But in the meantime, we're gonna check back with Bart, Lisa, Todd and the gang to see if they get that baseball back from Fergus. Ready for this? Here we go!
Chapter 20
Plan A
The next day, my friends and I were at the baseball field. We were wondering where Ralph and Martin were.
"Ugh!" I groaned in frustration. "Where the hell are Martin and Ralph? They should've been here ten minutes ago."
"I did hear that Martin was gonna bring a step ladder." said Lisa.
"Oh-no, I hope he doesn't get eaten by Fergus." whimpered Milhouse nervously.
"Well, I hope he does." giggled Terri. "What do you say, Sherri?"
"I agree with you, Terri." giggled Sherri in agreement.
"Hey, did anyone notice that we have a championship game with the Shelbyville Raptors coming up?" Todd said curiously.
"We'll worry about that later, Todd." said Lisa seriously. "Right now, we just got to get your dad's baseball back."
"We have a championship game with the Shelbyville Raptors?!" we all exclaimed. "Crap!"
"Guys, guys. This is not the time to be discussing about that right now." announced Lisa seriously. "Besides, how do you know about this?"
"I just read it in your small calendar booklet." replied Nelson. "I think you have the same one as Mike."
Suddenly, we saw Martin and Ralph running towards us.
"Hey guys, I'm here!" called Martin.
Ralph was holding his Batmobile and started playing with it.
"Will you one of you play with me?" he asked.
"Look, we don't have any time for all of this playing." Todd said seriously. "We have to get my dad's baseball back otherwise, I'm gonna get grounded."
"So, what does anyone think of my project?" asked Martin in enthusiasm.
He showed us his project that had two googly eyes on a metal circular clam. It had wheels on the front bottom and the back.
"That's your plan, genius?!" I snorted. "Excuse me, I was looking for something bigger."
"Well, this thing took me all night to do it along with my other inventions in case this one turns out to be a failure." Martin explained. "I call this the grabber."
"What does the grabber do?" asked Allison curiously.
"The grabber can grab anything. Especially a baseball." he explained. "I have a remote control attached to the wire of it so I can guide the grabber."
"Martin, get the baseball now, explain later." I ordered seriously. "Wake up, man."
Less than two minutes later, Milhouse was standing on the step ladder with the binoculars. He peeked over the fence and saw the baseball, but not Fergus.
"Ok, it's clear." Milhouse said to us.
We pulled a piece of a loose board of the fence off and Martin carefully guided the grabber into the yard.
"Whew!" Lisa sighed, as she took her hat off and wiped her forehead. "Is it hot out here or is it me?"
"Probably all of the above." replied Nelson.
"You might turn into melted ice cream soon if you stay too long in this scorching weather." chuckled Janey.
"Gee, thanks for the tip, Janey." Lisa said sarcastically, as she put her hat back on.
"Any sign of Fergus, Milhouse?" Todd asked nervously.
"Nope. You're still clear." Milhouse answered.
Suddenly, Martin's grabber saw the baseball!
"Jackpot!" I said happily.
"Ok, we got it." said Martin happily.
Suddenly, before the grabber could reach the baseball, there was loud growling and huge paw crushed the grabber as we all started screaming!
"Holy crap! Code red! Code red, it's Fergus!" shouted Milhouse.
We all started pulling on the wire of the remote control as hard as we could.
"Alright, back! Back, you son of a bitch!" I demanded, as I tugged onto the wire.
But to a surprise, all of us lost our grip and tumbled backwards. We watched the remote control fly into the hole of the fence and then it went flying through the air and crashed to the ground.
"No!" yelled Martin.
We all ran over to the grabber and then stared at it. It was now busted and the pieces were broken.
"Damn it! That was our first try!" Nelson shouted angrily, as he stomped his foot.
"Apparently, I've made a crucial 'mis-assessment' of Fergus." Martin said sadly, as he picked up his damaged grabber. "Plan A has turned out to be a failure."
"D'oh!" we all exclaimed.
"Look at the bright side, guys, at least you still get to play with my new Batmobile." Ralph said cheerfully.
In annoyance, I face palm myself on my forehead and mumbled to myself.
"We've been going about this all wrong." said Todd seriously.
"Well, you know the old saying: Back to the drawing board." Lisa sighed.
"Unless we need a total surprise." added Martin. "An airborne attack and Fergus will never expect it. But I'm afraid one of you will have to do it."
"Oh-no, not me." said Milhouse nervously, as he pointed to himself. "There is absolutely no frigging way I am doing it. Uh-uh, forget about it."
"Don't look at me, Prince." said Nelson, as he shook his head in a fast motion. "I ain't doing it."
"I'll do it, Martin!" cried Sherri in enthusiasm, as she waved her hand high in the air. "I'm not afraid of that dog!"
"Oh, really?" he said with a smirk, as he raised his eyebrow. "Prove it."
