Hi everyone. I am back once more with another chapter of this lovely story which finally reached the number of twenty. This past two weeks were rather eventful. But that's none of your business :))) I have seen that many of you enjoyed my last chapter and I am very glad that you did. Thank you to all my reviewers for their opinions and to all my readers for enjoying the last chapter. This one is a rather lengthy one, just like the other have been, so let's dive right into it. Enjoy :D

Chapter 20 – Honoring the Fallen

A warm blast of air hit Humphrey's face. He opened his eyes to find himself on his back with Kate over him, still asleep, her warm breath softly hitting his face. He blinked several times, getting his eyes used to the bright rays of the sun that was already up. After he got used to the light, he looked at Kate again and took in every detail of her sleepy face. Her fur was a little messy from last night and her mouth was open and smiling. Humphrey smiled and began stroking her back and her head, enjoying the feeling of her fur on his paws. Slowly, but steadily, Kate woke up. She opened her eyes to find Humphrey looking at her with a warm smile.

"Morning" he said with a charming voice. Kate chuckled and said:

"Only when you are beside me. What time is it?" Humphrey looked at the sun, waited a couple of seconds and said:

"The morning hunt is finishing about now...Should we go?" Kate seemed to ponder the question before saying:

"I guess we could go. I am kind of hungry. And both of us could use a bath." Humphrey sniffed the air, and said:

"Yeah...I think you are right. Let's go...I wonder if Hutch has any sort of news for today..."

"Let's hope not much happened yesterday...I want a quiet day for once" Kate said, getting up and walking a few meters away, before beginning to stretch. Humphrey got up and stretched his back for a couple of seconds, before making some quick jumps through the trees that were close by. Kate looked at him jumping, getting the stiffness out of him.

"Not a bad idea" Kate said as she joined him. Together they jumped through the trees with almost matching speed.

"We should use this to get to the lake unseen and then quickly jump in" Humphrey said as he turned towards the lake and began jumping down the hill. Kate followed him. In a couple of minutes, they reached the trees above the lake and jumped in. The water was cool and relaxing. They swam around for a couple of minutes, tackling one another in the water and cleaning themselves this way. When they decided they were clean enough, they got out and shook their fur dry. Then, together, they started walking back to their den. They walked slowly, enjoying the sunny morning walk. On their way back, they saw several wolves just waking up or returning from the feeding grounds.

"Want to grab some food?" Humphrey asked as he pointed to the group of wolves that were dragging a caribou towards the feeding grounds. Kate nodded with a hungry smile so, together they walked towards the wolves.

"Morning" Humphrey called at the wolves as they stopped and let the carcass fall on the ground.

"Morning sir" one of the wolves said with a bright smile.

"I see your hunt was successful today" Humphrey said with a smile.

"It was indeed. And quite fast too" another wolf added.

"Mind if we take one of the back legs of this caribou for our breakfast?" Humphrey asked pointing at the food.

"Not at all. We were actually carrying this to the food pile" the first wolf said. Humphrey nodded and cut with his claws one of the back legs. Then, he told Kate:

"You can start eating. I am going to help them take the caribou to the food pile. I'll eat when I return."

"Sir...there is no need to do this. We can manage" the first wolf said.

"I know you can. But I will come nonetheless. I want to check the food pile. If it is enough, there will be no morning hunt tomorrow. There is no need to throw caribou meat away" Humphrey said with a smile. The wolves nodded and Humphrey grabbed the other back leg while one of the wolves grabbed the head, and two other grabbed the back. Together, they carried the caribou to the food pile almost half a kilometer away. When Humphrey saw the food pile, it was quite big.

"No morning hunt tomorrow..." Humphrey said with a smile. He then turned back to walk to Kate. Before leaving, however, he turned his head to the team of three wolves and said:

"Thanks for the meal." The wolves nodded and Humphrey ran back to Kate. When he reached the place he left her eating at, he found half of the caribou leg eaten. Kate was sitting by the meat, waiting for Humphrey to come and eat.

"You're already done eating?" Humphrey asked surprised as he started munching on the meat.

"Yep. Quite filling" Kate said with a smile, massaging her stomach a little. Humphrey grinned and said:

"Well, that's good. Tomorrow there will be no hunting. The food pile is big enough for all the wolves to eat for a couple of days and for the meat to not go bad."

"Is that so? Damn…I thought the meat we usually hunt is little, compared to the number of wolves…" Kate said. Humphrey shook his head and said:

"The pile is quite big. I will call for Hutch later to talk with him about that too…I don't want this territory to become the same as the eastern one…I've been there when Dominicus chased me…not even a chirp of a bird."

"Really? I thought Tony was exaggerating when he said there was no more food left" Kate said sitting down and watching as Humphrey ate.

Ten minutes later, when Humphrey finished the leg of the caribou, he and Kate left for their den. They again walked at a slow pace, enjoying the company of one another. When they reached the slope towards their den, they saw Hutch lying in front of the den, half asleep. Humphrey stopped beside him and cleared his throat. Hutch opened one eye and saw Humphrey. The next second he was wide awake and said:

"Morning sir."

"Good morning Hutch. And please, call me Humphrey when we are among ourselves" Humphrey said with a smile. Hutch nodded as he yawned.

"Hutch, didn't you sleep last night?" Kate asked confused.

"Night patrol" Hutch said.

"Right…Anyone came by with problems? Anything happened last night?" Humphrey asked with a warm smile.

"Winston wants to talk with you Humphrey. In private. Besides that, I made the teams and sent them to mark the territory. Nothing else" Hutch said with a smile.

"Very well. Please spread the news that there will be no hunting tomorrow before you go have some sleep. I will be expecting you this evening to talk about the training program" Humphrey said.

"No hunting tomorrow? May I ask why?" Hutch said a little surprised.

"I went this morning to see the food pile. It is big enough for at least a day, if not two. I don't really want our all territory, with all the wolves that make up our pack now, to become like the eastern territory. That place is completely deserted…" Humphrey said with a serious face. Hutch blinked a couple of times and said:

"I never thought about it…You are right. I will tell the team I lead and then spread the news. I will see you this evening then." Humphrey nodded and Hutch left.

"He looked pretty tired… Do you think he waited for us all morning?" Kate asked.

"He might have. He was sleeping here so I guess he did. After all, we told him we will return in the morning… Anyway…I am going to talk with your father. I wonder what does he want to talk about…"Humphrey said.

"I will come too. Anything dad has to say to you, he can say to both of us" Kate said.

"Kate…I don't mean to burst your bubble, but he said he wanted to talk in private… When I return, I will tell you what we talked about. I promise" Humphrey said with a smile. Kate sighed and said:

"Fine…but I want to know everything…and I mean everything. It doesn't matter what it is about. I want to know."

"And you will. In the meantime…think about a training program for the wolves and how to break the news to them if you want to..." Humphrey said.

"But that's boring…" Kate said laying down.

"It might be but it now is part of our duty as leaders…even though if we don't like it…"Humphrey said, nuzzling her neck. Kate sighed and said:

"Okay, but after you talk with dad, we go and continue with our project, okay? I really want to learn more and spend more time with you…And I don't mean time with you and in the pack or training… I mean free time."

"Promise" Humphrey said with a grin before he turned and started running towards Winston's den. Kate followed him with her eyes, until he was out of sight. She then put her head on her paws and began dividing a program for training the wolves.

-with Humphrey-

Humphrey ran as fast as he could to reach Winston's den. He stopped a couple of meters from the entrance and called:

"Winston, are you inside?" A couple of seconds later, Winston came outside.

"Humphrey, it's good to see you. Please follow me…I need to talk to you and I would prefer if we were by ourselves" he whispered to him, turning to the den. Just then, Eve came out and said:

"Humphrey, what a nice surprise. What brings you here? And where is Kate?"

"She's at home. Mind if I borrow Winston for some time? I need him to help me with something" Humphrey said with a smile.

"Sure. What will he be helping with?" Eve asked with a warm smile.

"Yeah, what will I be helping with?" Winston said in a calm voice, a sly smile on his face, waiting for Humphrey to answer.

"I need you to…umm…help me with…a small exploration of the eastern territory. I want to see how is that part of the park because I decided that tomorrow there will be no hunting since the food pile is big enough for a couple of days and I want to know what to tell the wolves from the pack if they ask what would happen if we hunted too much" Humphrey said with a smile. Winston looked at him a little surprised, but Eve said:

"That's a good idea. Just be sure to be back by dinner dear." Winston looked from Humphrey to Eve and back to Humphrey, his surprise melting in a smile before saying:

"Of course dear. It won't take too long."

Eve nodded and left back inside the den. Humphrey started to go east and Winston was walking just by his side. After they were quite far away, Winston changed direction towards the lake and said:

"That's some good improvisation there…Where did you learn to do that?"

"No idea. But seriously though…we hunt too much…and we need to cut down on that" Humphrey said.

"Wait, you were serious? Okay then…I will tell this to some wolves and the news will spread" Winston said.

"No need for that. Hutch said he will do it" Humphrey said.

"Ah, yes. Good, faithful Hutch…please take care of him. He usually bites more that he can chew when it comes with helping the pack" Winston said with a smile.

"I know. He was on night patrol last night and waited for me and Kate all morning" Humphrey said with a smile.

"All morning? Where have you been all night?" Winston asked with a suspicious look. Humphrey stopped and remained frozen a couple of seconds then said:

"To watch the stars and howl at the moon."

"You have a half-truth for everything, don't you? Very well, just let me know when you are going to have pups so I can talk with Eve before she does something she might regret" Winston said with a grin and laughing a little.

"It was that obvious?" Humphrey asked after a couple of seconds.

"Well, you were gone all night…you are young…and you went with your mate…to watch the moon and…howl…together…yes, it was obvious. After all, we all did things like these when we were young" Winston said stopping in front of the lake. He looked down in the water and studied his reflection for a time, his expression changing from happy to sad. Humphrey sat by him and looked at his own reflection, waiting patiently. Eventually, Winston sighed and said:

"Humphrey…have you talked to Kate about the time you were…in a coma?"

"I haven't yet…why? What happened?"

"I wish she would have told you herself, but I guess having you back erased that from her mind. Humphrey…Kate talked me and Eve down as if we were puppies when we brought you in the den and Sally left to get herbs to treat you…" Winston said.

"She did what now? Please explain…" Humphrey said in a surprised but serious tone.

"After we brought you in the den and Sally left to get herbs to treat your wounds, Eve tried to comfort Kate. She used a poor choice of words and Kate misunderstood what she was trying to say…" Winston explained before getting interrupted:

"What words?" Humphrey asked his face getting worried.

"She said that she knew you were a sweet wolf and a caring mate but that she never believed that you would literally give your life in exchange of Kate's. Eve wanted to say that she was proud of you but Kate understood that Eve didn't have faith in you as a protective mate for her. Even when I tried to clear this up, she told me that all I was saying is true but that not only me, but Eve and the entire pack are lacking faith in you…" Winston said looking at Humphrey. Humphrey sighed and said:

"I know that you wanted to say that my selflessness took all of you by surprise, but, to be honest with you and meaning no disrespect, that is kind of hurting… After all I promised… and I never, ever break a promise…"

"I know. We should have had more faith in you and for that, Humphrey, I and Eve are sorry in the name of us and the name of the pack that we didn't have faith in you. Know that Kate loves you much more that either I or Eve could have imagined she was able to. And I should have let you protect Kate since when you asked me long ago. I was on the verge of letting you… but I couldn't go over pack laws… I just ask of you this… be a better leader than I was and continue to amaze us all. And please talk to Kate. I don't want her to hate us or the pack because of a mistake I made" Winston said with a serious and tired face. He was surprised with a hug from Humphrey. When he let Winston go, Humphrey said:

"Don't worry. I will talk with Kate and I will be a good leader. And thank you for telling me this, it means a lot more than you think."

"You really are a special wolf, Humphrey. Never change. Now, how about we return? Eve might have already started following our scent here so we better go towards east a little before we return home" Winston said with a smile. Humphrey smiled and together, they walked back to Winston's den, making sure to approach from the far east.

As Winston said, Eve wasn't home, paw prints leading towards the lake on the most direct route.

"She didn't believe you… no surprise here. I just wish she would see past her own ideas sometimes…but that is why I chose her…" Winston said as he went inside the den. Humphrey waited for a couple of seconds to see if Winston would say a goodbye. When none came, Humphrey said:

"Goodbye, Winston."

"Bye Humphrey" Winston called from inside the den. Humphrey smiled and left to go back to his mate. He started running, but soon stopped and went slower. He had to think how to approach the subject of what Winston told him. When he reached the slope towards his den, he still had no idea what to tell Kate, so he decided he will tell her what he thinks.

Kate was waiting for him outside their den, where he left her. She made several drawings in the earth with a stick. Almost all of them were with training ideas but there a couple of her and Humphrey together and some more smaller wolves around them. Humphrey smiled and said:

"You have been busy. I never knew you drew so well."

"No one knows beside the two of us. Not even Lilly or my parents. The Alphas consider the artistic side of a wolf to be a weakness…" Kate said getting up.

"That is not really nice. But I think they will learn differently when we will teach them" Humphrey said as he walked towards the entrance of the den. Kate followed and when they were inside, she asked:

"So… what did father say?"

Humphrey sighed and said:

"Come closer. I want to give you a hug while we talk…" Kate seemed a little surprised by this request but did come closer and Humphrey hugged her. Kate felt his fur brush her body and hugged Humphrey too. Then she waited for him to talk. She had to wait for quite a long time, before Humphrey said:

"Kate…I love you more than you can imagine. I would sacrifice my life for you again at any second and I thank you for defending me in front of your parents when I was…gone…but, I have to ask you…why did you talk with them so harshly…they were trying to help…"

Humphrey felt Kate tremble for a moment, before feeling something wet on his back. He knew she was crying and let her cry. He used his paw to soothe her. She needed to get the pain out of her and Humphrey knew that. After many minutes, Kate raised her head and looked at Humphrey for a couple of seconds, and then buried her head in his chest. Humphrey continued hugging her and waited. In the end, Kate said:

"You, Humphrey…you are the only wolf that knows the pain of losing a wolf that you love with all your being…with all your soul…When I saw what you did…I forgot about everything and everyone else…keeping you alive was my only purpose…no one else mattered…not even my parents. When we brought you in the den, the wolves around me started talking…I was so blind with tears that I didn't even see who they were. Dad told me later that they were Lilly, Garth, him, mom and your friends. When only dad and mom were left in the den with you and me…my eyes cleared a little and I saw them clearly and wanted to hold them close for support…that is until my mother spoke. She said that she never believed you would do such a thing and give your life willingly. She knows from me very well how many times you have been in danger to protect me and the extremes you went through to save me each and every time…and yet, she couldn't believe…she couldn't…she…"

Kate stopped talking and began crying again. Humphrey brought her closer and raised her face. With his paw he wiped her tears and waited, keeping her close.

"She couldn't believe you would save me. So I told her that I was disappointed in her not believing in you… Then dad started speaking. He wasn't taking my mom's part, but not my either. He said that he knew from you how much you loved me but that…that he never knew the extremes you would go to in saving me and affirming your love for me. He said that only now did he realize what wolf you really are…I told him that all he was saying is true but that, by only realizing now, he didn't believe in you either. Then he told me that you asked him to date me when we were pups. Is that true?" Kate said, looking straight in Humphrey's eyes.

"Yes. It is true. And several times" Humphrey said.

"And he denied you each time. And, one final time you asked him to give you the right to protect me. Is that true?" Kate asked again.

"That is also true. And he denied that too" Humphrey said.

"And he said that you said you would do it anyway…" Kate said, burying her head in his fur again.

"So I said and so I did" Humphrey said in a warm tone.

"Thank you…for doing this no matter what other thought" Kate's muffled voice said.

"There is no need to thank me. I was, am and will be forever in love with you. And you already thanked me…" Humphrey said with a smile. Kate raised her head and asked:

"How so?"

"By loving me back…you see…since I lost my parents…no one ever loved me back. Winston and Eve and Salty, Mooch and Shakey …they loved me as their friend and companion and fellow wolf. But none ever loved me for me…the true me…the serious me…the funny me…the sad me…the happy me…the silly me…you know…me. With goods and bads" Humphrey said in a warm voice.

"Humphrey…how could I not love you?" Kate said, hugging him.

"I love you too. And your parents love you. They said they are sorry for what they said in their name and the name of the pack…and they want you to forgive them…" Humphrey said, bringing her close.

"I did…the moment you woke up…I did" Kate said, muffled by Humphrey's fur. Humphrey sighed and continued to hold Kate until she calmed down. When she was okay, she raised her head and kissed him on the cheek. Humphrey smiled and said:

"So…about your art…who are the small wolves around us?"

"Our pups" Kate said with a teary smile, her face still wet from crying.

"Wait…are you saying that…" Humphrey said before getting interrupted by Kate.

"Don't know yet. Went to Sally and she said she can't tell for sure. She said that she will tell me in a couple of weeks" Kate said keeping her smile and wiping her eyes.

"You do realize that I won't be able to sleep for the next couple of weeks now, don't you?" Humphrey said chuckling a little.

"You will if you are tired enough" Kate said, her smile turning into a grin.

"How could I be tired? I don't do much anyway" Humphrey said oblivious to what Kate was hinting at.

"Don't you worry about that. I'll take care of it" she said, her grin growing. Humphrey gulped and Kate chuckled. To change the subject, Humphrey asked:

"So, about that training…any ideas?"

"I have a couple. First, we will separate Alpha from Omega, but only at the beginning, until they all catch up on the physical exercises. After that, we can start the real training. This first part should take about two weeks. The real training should take another four. So six weeks in total. Also, we should do it in the morning after the hunt and before the evening. It will be rough, but they will have to manage. That's what I came up with" Kate said.

"Good ideas…I will talk with Hutch as soon as he wakes up and in a couple of days, or when all the patrols return from marking the territory, we will make the announcement" Humphrey said with a smile. Kate nodded and said:

"Let's take some fresh air. We will stop by Hutch's den on our way to the sledging hill…"

"Okay, let's get going then" Humphrey said and together, they left the den and walked towards Hutch's den, which was not that far away. When they reached it, Humphrey called:

"Hutch, are you inside?" A couple of seconds later, Hutch came out.

"I was just about to come to your den" Hutch said with a smile.

"Slept well?" Humphrey asked.

"Really well. And I have told the news of no hunt tomorrow to everyone on hunt duty tomorrow. So, any ideas for the training?" Hutch asked.

"Yes. Kate had some good ideas. We will start by separating the Alphas from the Omegas for a couple of weeks so that the Omegas can catch up in physical exercises and the Alphas return to their fit form if they aren't fit already. After that, the hard training comes. It should last about four weeks. After that, it is simply maintaining and continuous exercise" Humphrey said.

"Sounds like a good plan. I will talk with some wolves and find out how much training can Omegas and Alphas do so that we have some way to tell when they are too exhausted. As for the time of the training, we should discuss this with the others" Hutch answered with a smile.

"Good. There is nothing left to do today, so catch up on sleep, my friend" Humphrey said with a smile. Hutch nodded and went back inside. Humphrey turned towards the general direction of the sledging hill and started walking with Kate.

"Finally, some time for us" Kate said with a smile.

"Indeed…some time for us" Humphrey said as he nuzzled her. She chuckled and they walked towards the place where they hid their new sledge. When they reached the tree, they took the sledge from its hiding spot and carried it to the lake. Humphrey pushed it in the water to get some sand and some water and then carried it back to the shore, where he and Kate began working on it again. Suddenly, Humphrey stopped and said:

"Kate, I got the best idea…I know how to make this sledge truly ours!"

"How?" Kate asked surprised.

"We draw on the inside. Or, more likely scratch-draw. You draw me and I draw you. It will be awesome, once we finish the interior. And after we finish the scratch, we can smooth it once more so that it looks natural…" Humphrey said with an excited smile.

"Are you sure? If we make a mistake, we will hate to go from scratch" Kate said with a wide grin.

"I see you brought the puns with you" Humphrey said chuckling. Kate joined in and they laughed for some time. When they finally stopped, Kate said:

"Okay, but first let's finish the sledge. After that we can scratch a drawing of us on the interior." Humphrey smiled and together, they returned working on the sledge. After some time, when the sun was almost setting, Humphrey said:

"How about we stop for the day? Let it dry and watch the clouds and the stars before going to the den?"

"We…can't" Kate said, her face shocked for a second. Humphrey was confused for a second and asked:

"Why not? It's such a nice day for clouds and stars…"

"Humphrey…tonight is the Full Moon Howl. We have to be there. We are the leaders…" Kate explained. Humphrey thought for a moment and then said with a smile:

"Sounds good. And we can stay there long after the other leave. And that place is mostly deserted by night too."

"Yeah…deserted" Kate said, a growing smile on her face. They laughed together and Humphrey said:

"Well then…let's let the sledge dry for the night and return tomorrow. Let's just carry it to the top." Together, they emptied the sledge of water and sand and carried the sledge to the top of the hill and set it in a sunny place to dry. Then, they walked towards the Howling Stone, where the majority of the wolves gathered to howl. It was the first howl since the end of the battle, so, Humphrey wanted to hold a speech before.

When they reached the stone, it was full of wolves. Many of the wolves that were not western, were a little confused as to what was happening, but most of them got the message quick enough. Eve and Winston were among the wolves that explained the meaning of this meeting.

When the wolves saw Humphrey and Kate, they made space for them to go to the top of the stone. Humphrey and Kate passed Garth and Lilly, who were busy talking with one another. They raised their heads and smiled at the two of them. Humphrey and Kate smiled back and continued to go to the top of the stone. When they reached it, Humphrey sat down by the ledge and looked at the amount of wolves that were there, and the wolves that were coming. He patiently waited for all of them to come, before he howled a short howl to grab everyone's attention. When all the wolves turned to him, he said:

"I am happy to have everyone here tonight. I hope that the wolves that are not original from the western pack, understand what is about to happen. If not, please ask anyone from the old western pack and they will explain. Before we continue with what we are going to do, I want to say something…something in the name of our fallen brethren. They all have been great wolves of great character that knew what had to be done when they sacrificed their lives. I wish I had been able to save more, but, at least, they are in a happier place now. I ask for all of you a long solemn howl for them…to thank them for giving their lives so that we could live and to assure them that their loved ones are safe…"

Humphrey stopped talking, his eyes beginning to glow golden, and after taking a deep breath, he howled as loud and long as he could. Kate joined him a second later. One by one, the wolves that gathered at the stone joined him in his solemn howl to the fallen members of the pack. Slowly, the howl died in Humphrey's voice, as it did in the voices of the others, and it was carried by the wind to the moon. When the last echo of the howl stopped, Humphrey said, the golden flash in his eyes fading:

"Thanks you. Now, let's have some fun, because, after all, that is why we are here."

From the crowd, a wolf cheered and then wolves began howling their howl to the sky and the moon. Humphrey turned to Kate and said:

"How about we join them?" Kate smiled and nodded slowly. Humphrey grinned and began howling the same howl he did in the train when they returned from Idaho. Kate joined him, their voices melting in perfect harmony. Some seconds later, almost all other howls ended as the wolves wanted to hear the tones of their leaders. Humphrey noticed and a smile appeared on his face as he howled louder. Kate accompanied his howl with her beautiful voice. After several second of the tune, Lilly joined in the howl from somewhere under them. A second later, Garth joined too. He was followed by Winston and Eve. Salty and Shakey howled too, Mooch joining them. From somewhere close to the base of the stone, they heard Sally join in with Barbara, Tony and Hutch. After that, several wolves joined in the tone of Humphrey's howl. With each second that passed, more and more wolves joined in the howl, until they were all howling in the same tune, the most powerful howl Jasper ever heard.

After several minutes, Humphrey stopped and kissed Kate mid-howl, catching her mouth open. The wolves continued howling, not noticing that Humphrey was silent now.

Kate was taken by surprise and began laughing in the kiss. Humphrey growled playfully and dominated Kate's mouth with his tongue. Both of them relaxed in the kiss, the world around them stopping, as they enjoyed their moment. When they stopped, the wolves were still howling, so Humphrey, while looking at Kate, began howling again and Kate shook her head in bewilderment as she joined him. They continued howling until long after midnight, when most of the wolves left. They only stopped when they saw Lilly and Garth leave the stone, the two of them remaining alone.

Humphrey's howling slowly came to a stop after he saw Garth and Lilly leave through the trees of the forest. Kate stopped too when he was silent and said:

"Well, we are definitely alone now…"

"We are" Humphrey said as he laid down on his back. Kate laid down on her back by him and together they watched the stars.

"There are so many tonight" Kate commented as she pointed with both her paws to the sky.

"You know…there is an old legend that says that all the wolves that leave this world will forever watch over it from the stars. There are so many tonight because maybe they heard our howl in their honor and came to watch over us" Humphrey said, looking at the stars.

Just then, a bluish line slashed the sky for a second.

"What was that?" Kate asked, turning to Humphrey. Humphrey turned to her and said with a bright smile:

"A falling star. It is said that if you make a wish when you see a falling star, it will come true, but you must not tell anyone what you wished for…"

"Oh…" Kate said as she looked at the place where the star cut the sky. She closed her eyes for a second and then opened them again. She looked at Humphrey and said with a loving smile:

"Done."

"Me too" Humphrey said as he kissed her forehead. Kate giggled and together they stood like that, looking at the sky and talking about everything and anything, until they fell asleep. The moon shined bright above the two wolves that slept there. On both sides of the moon, many ghostly wolf figures smiled and slowly bowed to the two sleeping mates, before their forms shivered and they disappeared, now at rest.

Aaaaaaand…scene. That's it guys a girls. Another chapter that I enjoyed writing very much. I hope you enjoyed it. If you did, let me a review and tell me your thoughts.

Until next time, LionPrankster, over and out.
