Chapter 20 has arrived and I'm so glad that we made it here. Last time we saw Kari having another dark nightmare and is afraid to tell the others. Will she and will the kids be ready when the new bad guy arrives? And what will happen when Kari spends some time with Chris?

Will he help her get through the darkness? There is only one way to find out and thanks for the reviews guys I appreciate it. I don't own anything of Digimon just my OC. Let's begin and enjoy the chapter everyone.

Meeting up

Unknown location (Normal pov)

LadyDevimon enters a large dark room where she sees a small machine Digimon working on a computer. As she approaches the Digimon she sees that it's Datamon, a Virus-type that Nichols brought back two weeks ago.

Another Digimon that was destroyed thanks to the Digidestined years ago, and wanted to use one of the children against Etemon. It almost worked, but his plans was ruined and he was destroyed. Nicholas brought him back to be used to help him and to help him create the new Control Spirals. However, he knows the Digimon will try to betray him, so he added a small chip to destroy him if he tries anything.

"I see my Nichols has been keeping you busy," she said in a mocking tone.

"Silence woman," Datamon replied as he continues working. "I am busy. Go bother someone else."

LadyDevimon steps in front of the Digimon and moves her nail finger right on his glass head. "I would be careful what you say around me. Remember, I know the code to help destroy you."

Datamon grumbles before speaking again, in a polite manner. "How may I be of service to you?"

LadyDevimon smiles liking the new attitude. "I need your help finding Gennai. I have interrogated Leomon and his buddy many times, but they refuse to give up anything."

"So you want me to find him?" Datamon asked. "I'm surprise you haven't asked your precious master for his help."

"He's busy," she replied in a harsh tone. "I prefer not to bother him. Now help me find him or else."

"Even if I could I'm afraid it's not possible," Datamon shows on the screen several images. "I was tasked by Nicholas to find the locations of every known threat to his plan in the Digital World. Gennai is the only one I haven't been able to find thanks to some sort of program that he uses to keep us from tracking him."

This made LadyDevimon upset. She needs to find this man and bring him in before she gets punished. She doubts her human will punish him, but the way his mood has been it could happen.

"There must be a way to find him."

"There may be a way," Datamon begins going over some information and shows them on the computer. "There are two different places where Gennai could be at. One of the locations is the home of an ally, and the other is the location of a hidden library."

"Hmmm I'll need to choose then," said LadyDevimon as she decides which one to go to. "I know just where to go."

(Kari's pov)

"And here is your change," I said as I hand the customer her money. "Thank you for coming and have a nice day."

The customer nods while smiling and leaves the store. This was the third customer today and so far I was doing well helping Yolei watch the store. She left half an hour ago with Hawkmon to drop off some things at the mail. So I'm here in the store with Rachel, who is in the back with Lopmon organizing everything, and Gatomon who is sleeping nearby.

"And we are done!" Rachel shouted as she walks back into the room. "I am so glad we finished."

"It wasn't even that much, Rachel," Lopmon replied. "It was like, twenty."

"It still felt too much!" Rachel lets out a loud groan and sits down on a seat nearby. "So, are you ready for your date with Chris?"

I felt my cheeks burn a little when she mentioned the word 'date'. "It's not a date, we're just hanging out together as friends."

"Relax, I was just playing," Rachel replied as she pulls out a candy bar. "Just have some fun and don't do anything crazy."

"I know," I look over at the clock and see I still have half an hour to go. "Can I ask you something?"

"You just did," Rachel tosses the wrapper into the garbage. "What's the question?"

"How come you guys don't seem worried or scared about the Virus King?" I asked. "You guys seem calm, relaxed, and not worried like all of us. Why is that?

Rachel shrugs her shoulders. "I guess it's because this is not the first time we encountered danger. You have to remember we've been on the road without any parents. We had our Digimon, but we still encountered a lot of dangerous things. A lot of them were humans and they wanted to kill us."

I gasped quietly. "They wanted to kill you?"

Rachel nods. "That's why we're not scared like you guys. I mean we may be a little worried about the safety of you and the others, but that's about it."

I looked down at the floor and sighed. "Well, I'm glad you guys are here and you're both looking out for us all."

Rachel walks up to me and playfully punches me in the arm. "Anytime, just remember if you hurt my friend though you won't have to worry about the Virus King coming after you. It's me, got it?"

I nod and smiled nervously. "Y-yes, I know."

Digital World (Normal pov)

Piximon is in his home finishing putting away some important items that he needed to protect. He knew he had to keep them safe so the Virus King wouldn't get his hands on them.

As he finishes, he begins receiving a message from Gennai. "Piximon, are you there?"

Piximon floats over to the computer. "I'm here, where are you?"

"I'm safe where I am for now," Gennai replied. "I'm planning to leave soon before our enemies find out where I'm at."

"Did you get what you need from, the Guardian?" Piximon asked.

Gennai nods. "He refuses to leave though. He did transfer all the information to me. Centarumon left an hour ago and is going to find any allies to assist us."

"How did the Digidestined react?" Piximon asked concerned for the children.

"As well as what we expected," Gennai replied. "They now know, even Kari."

Piximon sighed guessing how the girl must be feeling. Not only finding out that bad people are coming for her, but knowing that she is going to be used to help free the Virus King who will end up destroying both worlds.

"What are they going to do?" he asked.

"Well, I'm guessing they will keep her from going into the Digital World," Gennai replied figuring what the kids will do. "However, whoever the Virus King is using will know this and will try to force her into the Digital World."

"Or come to the Human World," said Piximon knowing there would be no limit the Virus King will go to be free.

"That is why I've contacted Azulongmon to see if he'll help the Digidestined get the powers they need," said Gennai.

"Sounds like a good idea," Piximon then sensed something is wrong. "I have to go. Good luck my friend and take care."

Piximon turns off the computer and flies out of his home. He looks around and doesn't see anything, but he knows something is here.

"Whoever you are, show yourself."

Suddenly a sword appeared and heads towards Piximon. He dodges the sword, until more appeared. He uses his staff and hits the swords away from him. He sees four more heading his way, but moves out of the way as all four swords hit each other.

"Is that all you've got?" he asked when he hears someone laughing. "I guess not."

"I see you haven't changed much since we last met, Piximon," said a familiar voice that echoed all around the small Digimon. "This time though, I'll make sure your death is painful and grueling."

Piximon recognized the voice and turns around to see a large dark tower standing near his home. "I'm not surprise that you were brought back. It doesn't matter though. Like your friends before you, you will fall and so will this tower. The Digidestined know about the Virus King and they will defeat him."

"Oh, is that so?" a dark figure appeared wearing a cloaked covering his body. "Good, because that will make things much easier for us."

Human World (Kari's pov)

I finished working at the store after Yolei came back. I headed off to the park where I'm hoping to find Chris. I was still a few minutes early from the time we were planning to meet. But, I decided to get here early so I can clear my mind.

Gatomon is nearby on top of the trees watching over me. I can't blame her, especially after I told her about what happened. Last night I told her about my nightmares coming back. She has been overprotective of me and has been staying close so I don't end up vanishing again.

I don't actually mind since I don't want to vanish either. I hate being stuck in that dark world without anyone I know being there with me. It made me shudder when I recall how those creatures tried to drag me away to become their new queen. It was horrible and it made me scared of going back there, alone.

That is why I'm glad Chris invited me out. For some reason I feel safe around him. I can't explain it, but when he saved me against Kimeramon, I feel like every time I'm around him I have nothing to fear. That's why I like him, but I'm still not sure if it's like, like.

"Kari, are you okay?" Gatomon asked from on top of the tree.

I look up and nod. "I just have a lot on my mind."

"Is it about the dreams?" she asked.

I shook my head. "About Chris."

Gatomon smiles and climbs down. "You like him, don't you?"

I knew I can trust Gatomon with anything I tell her. She's my best friend and will be able to keep my secrets from anyone no matter what.

"I do," I replied. "I'm still not sure if I love him or it's just a crush."

"Well, I say follow your heart and see where it leads you," Gatomon suggested. "I wouldn't mind if you were with T.K. though."

I shook my head. "I went down that path once, you know that."

"I know, but I thought you could try," she replied as I guessed why she suggested it.

"You like Patamon, don't you?" I asked seeing a nice reaction from her.

"Um, oh look its Chris!" she pointed towards Chris who is walking towards us.

"Hey guys," he began as he waved at us. "I hope I didn't keep you guys waiting."

I shook my head. "No, no it's fine. Thanks for coming."

"No problem," he replied. "So, where do you want to go?"

"Well, we could go out for lunch," I suggested.

"Sure," he then takes my hand. "Let's get going then."

I feel my cheeks blushing a little and nod slowly. "O-okay then."

I look over at Gatomon who is snickering. I narrowed my eyes at her knowing I would get her back for this.

Meanwhile (Normal pov)

Yolei continues working at the store, while Rachel is taking a break after slipping on the wet floor that was mopped earlier by the girl. The good thing is there isn't that many people coming into the store, so Yolei is able to handle the store on her own until her friend recovers.

"I still can't believe I forgot where I mopped the floor," said Rachel upset.

"Well, next time use the 'wet floor sign'," said Yolei pointing at the sign nearby. "How are you feeling anyways?"

"A little better," Rachel replied as she tries to sit up, but sits back down when she felt a sharp pain. "Never mind."

"You need to rest," said Lopmon as she hands her friend a bag filled with ice on the injured leg. "So don't move, please."

Rachel sighed and takes the ice bag. "Okay, I'll take it easy."

The door opens and in comes Yan Takenouchi, Sora's brother. "Hello?"

Yolei noticed the young man. "Oh hello, Yan right?"

Yan nods. "You're Yolei, right?"

Yolei nods and points towards her Digimon. "And this is Hawkmon."

"Hello," Hawkmon greeted. "What brings you here? And where is your Digimon?"

Yan points towards his Digimon who enters the store wearing a cloak covering his body. "I hate wearing this."

"I know," Yan replied petting his friend's head. "But as promised you can have any snack in the store."

That lightened BlackAgumon's spirit as he goes to find some snacks. Meanwhile Yan noticed Rachel nearby resting from her injuries. So he walks over and sits down next to her. She sees him and noticed him staring at her.

"What?" she asked a little upset since she doesn't like people staring at her.

"Sorry," he apologized. "I just noticed you got hurt. How did it happen?"

"I slipped," she replied in a monotone. "I don't want to talk about it."

"Oh, okay sorry," he replied apologizing again. "I hope you're feeling better."

She turns towards him and a small smile appears across her face. "Thanks, so where's your sister?"

"She's with my mom," he replied with a small smile. "I came to meet her friends so I can learn a little about them."

"Well that's nice," she replied as she playfully punches him on his arm. "You do know though that we're your friends too."

"I guess so," he replied while holding his arm where he got hit. "Why did you punch me though?"

She shrugs her shoulders. "I guess it's how I show my affection. You don't want to see how I show my feelings for bad guys."

He snickers a little and nods. "I bet, so what are you doing here?"

"Working," she replied. "I got this injury while working. I would sue, but she's my friend so I won't."

"Like you could anyways," Yolei replied while at the cash register. "After all it was your fault you slipped."

"How do you figure?" Rachel asked.

"You forgot to put up the sign," Yolei replied pointing to the wet floor sign nearby.

Rachel pouts and crossed her arms. "I didn't see it there the first time."

Yan then came up with an idea. "If you want, I can help do your job until you feel better."

"Really?" she asked surprised. "Wait, what's the catch?"

"You did say we're friends, right?" he asked as he gets up. "That's what friends are for."

She smiles happily at the young man and nods. "Thanks, you're okay with me, Yan."

"You're welcome," said Yan as he goes up to Yolei. "Do you mind if I help do her work?"

Yolei nods. "Just be careful when you mop."

"I will," he replied as he takes the uniform and begins working.

Rachel looks on staring at the boy. Lopmon noticed the loon on her friend's face and smiles. She noticed it before a year ago. It made her feel happy, especially for her friend.

"You like him, don't you?"

Rachel looks down at her friend. "What are you talking about?"

"Yan, you seem to like him don't you?" she asked.

"He's okay," Rachel replied. "But, I don't like him like him."

"The way your staring at him says otherwise," said Lopmon.

"Well you're reading it wrong," said Rachel as she tries getting up. "Now, if you excuse me I need to use the little girl's room."

As Rachel limps towards the restroom, Lopmon couldn't help but giggle. "If you do like him, then I hope it ends better than last time."

Digital world (Normal pov)

LadyDevimon floats down a dark cave with several drones following her. They made their way towards the location where they were informed is where Gennai is hiding out. She knew the other location is being currently taken care of by the Digimon her human brought back. So she took this location hoping to find the ally of the Digidestined.

She walks into what appears to be a large chamber room. Inside the room they see inscriptions on the walls in a language that LadyDevimon couldn't read.

"Drones, record everything. Nicholas will want to read this later," she ordered.

As the drones are about to start recording, they are all taken down. LadyDevimon jumps out of the way as more drones are taken down all around her. She sees they are all gone, but sees who attacked them. Nearby she sees an old man with long white beard, a long blue and white cloak covering his body, a hood covering his face, and is holding a long wooden cane.

She scoffed. "I take it you did this?"

The old man nods. "You are not welcomed here."

She wipes the dirt from her clothes and replies. "I don't care if I am or not. I only came here for another old man named, Gennai."

"I don't know who that is?" the old man replied.

LadyDevimon though wasn't convinced. "I think you do. So unless you want to die a painful death, you will hand him over."

The old man shook his head. "I don't know who that is, but if you do not leave you will be the one in pain."

LadyDevimon began laughing. "Oh please, don't make me laugh. Wait, too late."

As she continued laughing the old man looks on unamused. Once she calmed down she approaches the old man grabbing him by the collar of his shirt.

"Now then, enough games," she moves her sharp nail near the old man's neck. "Tell me what I need to know, or you'll die. What's it going to be?"

The old man sighed. "Very well."

He head-butts her in the head causing her to release him. He jabs his cane in her gut knocking her near the entrance. She regains her breathing and glares at the old man. She gets back on her feet and growls.

"That was a big mistake. Now I will kill you!"

The old man twirls his cane around and gets into fighting position. "We shall see, witch."

It looks like there is more to the old man than meets the eye. It also looks like Rachel is taking a liking to Yan, is he feeling the same way? How many think Chris will be able to help cheer Kari up? Will it happen before they have to go save Piximon from the Digimon that is attacking him?
