Chapter Twenty: Naruto vs Temari
"The next match of the finals is Temari of the Sand versus Naruto Uzumaki of the Leaf," Haku said, and Temari smirked before she leapt over the balcony, using her fan to glide down to the arena floor and she landed and gave her fan a swing that blew the air around her, kicking up leaves and dust. The crowd in attendance applauded her, and she smirked and Naruto groaned.
"Show-off," he said to himself.
"Are you coming down here or not?" she called up to him, and he frowned at her before he leapt over the balcony and flipped through the air. He landed in a squatting position and he looked at Temari.
"Are you both ready to begin?" Haku asked the two, and Naruto nodded his head.
"I am if she is," he said, pointing towards Temari.
"Okay, let's see how fare against me. After all, I am not just a pretty face," Temari said with a smirk.
"You could have fooled me," Naruto said, and Temari gained a tick mark.
"Okay brat, I was planning on making this easy on you because you look kind of cute, but now after that comment I will make this slow and painful," she told Naruto who smirked slightly at her.
"Then come on then, or are you chicken?" he taunted, and she growled at her.
"Go Naruto!" Sakura cheered to him, and he gave her a thumbs up.
"Begin!" Haku ordered, and she leapt backwards. Naruto leapt backwards into the air and threw a barrage of shuriken towards Temari who scoffed.
"Please," she sneered, and she waved her fan and blew the shuriken away from her, leaving her unharmed. "Didn't you learn anything from that weakling I beat in the preliminaries? Weapons will not touch me," she told Naruto who landed on the ground.
"We'll see about that," Naruto said as he charged towards Temari again at a decent speed, and he lunged at her but Temari swung her fan again. Naruto was blown backwards and he skidded across the ground. He grunted in frustration.
"Looks like you're having trouble. A bit of advice, Naruto, she is a long range fighter," Kurama told him.
"So?" he asked the giant fox testily who sighed.
"So, she most likely is weak in close quarter combat that is how you'll win," he told the blonde who thought about it and nodded his head, agreeing with him.
"Roger," he said, and he took out five kunai and threw them towards Temari who swung her fan and deflected the kunai. They landed around Temari, and Naruto grinned slightly. It was all according to plan. He charged towards her again, and threw an axe kick at the blond girl who blocked with her fan and swung her fan like a club. She tried to hit Naruto, but he rolled to the side and the fan was imbedded into the ground. Naruto, using the fan as leverage, lunged at Temari and threw a punch at her. He managed to successfully hit her in the face and threw her back, and she skidded across the ground.
"Go Naruto!" Sakura cheered to her boyfriend, and Ino was gobsmacked.
"Whoa, he's gotten stronger," Ino thought to herself.
"That's my boy," Kushina thought to herself happily, and Jiraiya smiled as well. Sarutobi looked down at Naruto and smiled warmly.
"Minato, if you could see your son now you would be proud of him, I am sure of it," he thought to himself and he was sure he saw the ghost of Minato standing beside Naruto and smiling down at him. Temari grunted and wiped a small trickle of blood from her lip and she glared at Naruto.
"You got lucky that time you brat, but you will not be so lucky again!" Temari shouted as she waved her fan, fully extended, and she blew hurricane gale force winds towards Naruto who gasped as he tried to stay standing. However, the force of the wind managed to blow him backwards and he crashed into the wall. He grunted in pain.
"Okay, that hurt," he groaned, and held his head. Naruto glared at a smirking Temari who held her fan fully extended. "Let's try that again," he said, and threw some more shuriken and kunai towards Temari, who chuckled and jumped into the air. She swung her fan and blew the weapons away, and Naruto did a few handsigns.
"WATER STYLE: LIQUID BULLETS!" he cried, and spat several water projectiles towards Temari who gritted her teeth.
"WIND STYLE: GREAT BREAKTHROUGH!" Augmenting the wind style jutsu with her fan, she sent a massive blast of wind towards the water bullets and the attack exploded into a fine mist. However, this was only a diversion for Naruto to close the distance. Seeing the blonde burst through the mist, holding a kunai, Temari hissed in irritation. She wasn't sure if she could get another wind blast off in time, and instead began to swing it like a club towards the charging Naruto. She looked to see Naruto jump into the air and dive towards her. He swung his kunai towards Temari who blocked it easily with her fan, but she gasped in shock when another Naruto appreared right next to her and kicked the fan out of her hands. Temari grabbed a kunai out of Naruto's partially open pouch and used it to disperse the clones and she just managed to get her stolen kunai in the way of the original Naruto's, and the two struggled against each other, each trying to gain the upper hand.
"You're good kid, but I am better," Temari told him. She then kicked Naruto in the chest and sent him backwards. He rolled across the ground before he threw several more shuriken and kunai towards Temari, who jumped into the air and landed beside her fan as Naruto threw more weapons at her. Temari was getting annoyed at the blonde's persistence and swing her fan again, and blowing the kunai and shuriken away.
"Come on I want a challenge!" she taunted him, and Naruto grinned.
"Okay, you want a challenge, then I will give you one," he told her and he snapped his fingers. A cloud of smoke covered the field and everyone watching gasped in shock. When the smoke died down, dozens of Naruto's were surrounding Temari who stumbled she in shock.
"Clones?" she asked arrogantly. "Those won't even be able to hit me," she told Naruto with a smug grin on her face.
"Show her boys," one of the Naruto clones said.
"Right!" The other Naruto's chorused, and they all charged towards Temari who at first just stood there, thinking that the clones wouldn't hit her. However, Temari suddenly noticed that the clones were casting shadows.
"No way," she thought to herself, trying to raise her fan. "Solid clones?" Temari didn't get her guard up in time and one of the Naruto's punched her in the gut, winding her. She then gasped when she thought of something. "I don't believe it, all those weapons you threw at me, they were…" Temari trailed off.
"Yeah, they were all transformed Shadow clones. I figured that since you would deflect them instead of dodge that they would pile up around you and you would think the danger was over, but it just goes to show you, expect the unexpected," Naruto told Temari, and everyone watching the fight was incredibly impressed with his strategy.
"Enough talk, WIND STLYE: WIND CYCLONE JUTSU!" Temari shouted and she swing her massive fan around her body. An omnidirectional wind attack erupted and blew all the clones away from her, causing them to all puff into smoke, and Naruto grunted in frustration before he hid behind a tree and cursed under his breath.
"How can I get close to her now, she just took out a battalions worth of clones," he thought to himself.
"Having difficulty? Naruto, remember the technique the pervert taught," Kurama told him and he nodded his head.
"Yeah, the forth Hokage's jutsu, but how will that help me, I need to get close to use it," he replied to the giant fox, and chuckled.
"I would be willing to give you a slight boost," the fox offered. "With the increased speed, any diversion you create should last for long enough for you to close the distance." Naruto seriously thought for a second.
"Fine, hit me up," he told the fox. Even as he thought that, he felt energy surge into his body. It wasn't enough to start forming outside his body, but Naruto knew that his eyes had turned red and his whisker marks had thickened. Naruto then jumped out from behind the tree and looked at Temari who smirked at him.
"Give up yet?" she asked him, but her smirk faltered upon seeing Naruto's altered facial features. Naruto frowned at her.
"You wish toots, SHADOW CLONE JUTSU!" he cried, and three Naruto's appeared creating a cloud of smoke obscuring the real Naruto who was doing something incredible. The three clones ran at Temari and attacked her with kunai, and she kicked them or blocked with her fan. The three clones then leapt towards her and she swung her fan, blowing them away and making them dispel, but the real Naruto to everyone's shock appeared above Temari with a blue sphere of chakra in his hand.
"Minato?" Kushina thought to herself as she saw an image of Minato over Naruto holding a blue sphere as well. Temari threw her fan back and tried to block the attack, but it never came and she looked up to see Naruto standing on her fan. A hundred Naruto's appeared holding the same blue sphere, and Temari tried to get away. Unfortunately for the Kunoichi, Naruto had put his foot in such a way as to hold her in place.
"RASENGAN!" the Naruto's chorused, and they dived towards Temari. The real Naruto jumped out of the way and all the Naruto's crashed into Temari, causing her to scream. A massive cloud of blue smoke erupted from the impact zone, and once it died down Temari was lying on the ground out cold and Haku walked over to check on her. Fortunately for the wind user, Naruto has only use stage two Rasengans in the attack.
"Temari of the Sand is unconscious, the winner is Naruto Uzumaki," she announced, and the stadium erupted into even louder cheers then Kiba's victory received.
"Way to go Naruto!" Sakura cheered as did Kushina, while Jiraiya and the Hokage smiled at him.
"Never thought he would do something like that," the Hokage said.
"He is so much like him," Jiraiya replied, agreeing with the old man.
"Alright, next match is Gaara of the Sand versus Davis Motomyia, both participants come down here now," Haku said, and Garra flew down in a swirl of sand but Davis didn't appear, and Haku sighed. "Seeing as Davis Motomyia is not here, then he is…" Haku trailed off as a swirl of wind appeared and Davis appeared wearing navy pants, a red Gi shirt, bandages around his right arm, his Tanto now strapped on his back. His hair had grown longer going down to his shoulders.
"I'm not late am I?" he asked Haku who rolled her eyes.
"No, but you cut it close, are you ready to fight?" she asked him, and he nodded his head.
"Then begin!" Haku said as Davis glared at Gaara.
"Mother wants blood, and I will give her yours!" the crazed ninja shouted.
