Cartoon Hero-All Star Saga: Universe Mix-Up

Chapter 20: New Salem, new problems.

Synopsis: The New Salem group arrives in New Salem to find the next two chaos stones and come face to face with an adversary long thought to be defeated, meanwhile, Frankie learns more about Dib and discovers his secret.

(A/N: Wow! I've been doing this story since 2013 and I'm nowhere near done! This has got to be the longest story I've ever written! High five for this story for being my best yet!)

The streets of New Salem laid with the broken parts of remaining Egg-Robo's with the residents nowhere near done with the clean-up job, humans and monsters cleaned up whatever remained when suddenly, a bright light appeared out of nowhere, people shielded their eyes from the sight until it died down and Frankie, Draculaura, Clawdeen, Cleo, Dib, Operetta, Clawd, Deuce and Charmy took its place.

"Oh man! That was amazing!" Dib said with excitement.

"Alright guys and ghouls, let's go looking for those chaos stones!" Frankie said as she looked at her group "me, Clawdeen, Draculaura and Cleo will go look in Monster High while you guys-"

"Wait! Can I ask you something?" Dib asked as he raised his hand.

"Sure, what is it?" Frankie asked.

"Can… You and Me go alone?" Dib asked, Frankie suddenly became confused and shrugged.

"Why?" she asked, worriedly.

"I just… Need to tell you something that the others shouldn't hear" Dib said as he rubbed his arm and looked at the ground.

"Okay" Frankie said "I guess me and Dib will go and look in Monster High".

"Good idea, the kid looks like he needs someone to talk to anyway" Deuce said, studying Dib's expression "me, Clawd, Charmy and Cleo will go and look in town".

"And we'll go and look in some place that is absolutely nowhere near the maul!" Clawdeen said as she grabbed Draculaura's and Operetta's hands and led them to… You guessed it, the maul "we'll catch up with you all later!"

"Okay! Have fun!" Charmy said as he waved at her.

"Poor kid, doesn't even have a clue what's going on" Clawd said.

"Come on, let's go find those chaos stones!" Frankie said and the two groups parted ways, as the teenage monster and human boy walked to Monster High, Frankie at Dib to see a sad expression on his face and she became worried for him "Dib? What's wrong?"

"Nothing…" he breathed out, almost sounding like he was on the verge of tears "I should've told you about me when we first met though".

"Yeah, I was wanting to learn more about you" Frankie said "I understand that you want to stop Zim but what I saw, he selflessly volunteered to help".

"Yeah, so he can get the chaos emeralds and chaos stones for himself!" Dib said "he's just using everyone!"

"Dib, let's not get too suspicious" Frankie said.

"No! For the first time in my life, I won't let anyone think I'm crazy!" Dib said as he held his fists to his chest and pointed into the air "I am a paranormal investigator and it's my sworn duty to keep Zim from taking over the world!" with proudness in his heart, Dib made his statement known out loud.

"Wait… You're a paranormal investigator?" Frankie asked, Dib suddenly spun around with a blank face to see a shocked and scared look on Frankie's.

"….Yes…." Dib said blankly.

"You mean the ones who kidnap monsters and put them in cages?" Frankie asked, on the verge of tears.

"No! I'm nothing like that!" Dib said "what I do is-"

"Stop Dib! I don't want to hear it!" Frankie said as she walked away from him "I can't believe I trusted you!"

"Frankie! Wait!" Dib said as he followed her and tried to keep up with her "you don't understand! I'm nothing like those kind of guys! And… Man, you're fast!"

"Dib, go away" Frankie said as she continued to walk away from him "I don't to hear another… Oof!" she suddenly hit into a boulder and fell onto her back, she looked up to see a swat-bot standing above her, fear quickly washed over and she got up to escape but to see a group of swat-bots surrounding her and Dib.

"Uh… Something tells me we should run" Dib said in fear.

"We can't, there's nowhere to run!" Frankie said.

"Surrender yourselves to Dr. Robotnik right now and we shall you both" a swat-bot said "failure to do so will result in obliterating you both".

"Oh yeah? Well, we aren't going to surrender to this Robotnik guy at all!" Frankie said as she crossed her arms, Dib grew even more afraid and covered his head with his arms.

"We're going to die!" he screamed.

"You both have failed to do so, prepare to die!" the swat-bot said as it aimed his blaster at Frankie and prepared to fire, however, the teenage mash-up used her bolts to electrocute the swat-bot, sizzling and shorting it out instantly, but her idea of an attack grew too useful for the other swat-bots used the opportunity to shoot at her bolts, knocking them off her neck and shutting her down.

"Oh no!" Dib said as he watched the teenage girl fall to the ground, in a state of unconsciousness, Dib watched his friend fall on the dirt and didn't wake up, tears welled up in his eyes as he saw this happen and suddenly grew furious at the swat-bots.

"One is down, only one left to go" a swat-bot said as it aimed its blaster at Dib… Only to be greeted by a powerful punch from him that literally knocked the hard drive out of it, the other swat-bots suddenly turned to him to see him steaming at the ears and his face red with anger.

"LEAVE HER ALONE!" he roared as he lunged at swat-bots and tore off the arm of one and destroyed it with the arm, he then kicked a swat-bot in the face and it exploded, he then punched them in a row and threw their disc shaped heads at another one. Dib then jumped onto one and tore the torso off of it and threw it onto three of the swat-bots, he gave out a battle cry as he lunged at the last two and destroyed them with his bare hands, smoke poured out of the swat-bots and scattered bits and pieces about, Dib growled with anger and slowly began to retain his sanity, he turned to see his unconscious friend and quickly ran over to her "Frankie? Frankie, are you okay?" he asked as he shook her, no reply came from her "Frankie? Frankie! Please wake up!" his eyes suddenly filled up with tears as he felt the feeling of his guilt growing inside of him, he began to sob at her side and hugged her "I… I'm sorry Frankie…" he looked up to see her face and suddenly saw her two bolts laying on the ground across from her, he quickly ran over to them and grabbed them and walked back to Frankie, he carefully placed the two bolts in her neck and waited for her to wake up…

But she didn't….

"F-Frankie?" he asked sadly, nothing happened "…Frankie…" he felt his heart sink and cried at the sight of a creature that was part of his job, hunting and exposing paranormal creatures. "This is all my fault…" he said to himself as he cried.

"…Dib…" a soft voice said, he felt a hand hold him by the shoulder and looked to see Frankie's eyes slowly open up, the teenage monster gave a weak smile while Dib could hardly believe what he was seeing.

"Y…You're…Alive…" he said as he hugged her "I thought you were dead".

"I'm… A…. Monster…" Frankie said weakly "it's… Hard for me to die…" Frankie started to sit up on the ground and looked to see the damage that Dib had inflicted on the swat-bots "did you do this?"

"Yes…" Dib chuckled, Frankie smiled at him and ruffled his hair.

"That's my boy" she said, something suddenly caught her eye and she looked to see what it was "Dib, look!"

Huh? What?" he asked as he turned around to see what she saw and discovered it to be…

"The chaos stone!" they both said as they got up and ran towards it, when a mechanical tentacle suddenly landed in front of them, blocking their path to chaos stone.

"What the heck?" Dib shouted.

"Where did that come from?" Frankie asked.

"It's been a long time Frankie" a familiar voice said, Frankie felt her blood run cold and looked up to see a man wearing a safari hunter's outfit, the man appeared to be in his middle aged years but with blonde hair and a mustache/beard combo, she suddenly froze into place at the sight of this man.

"Van Hellscream…" she muttered.

Meanwhile…

"I'm bored! Can we go somewhere fun?" Charmy whined as he, Clawd, Deuce and Cleo walked down the streets of New Salem where the cleanup was still in commence, Cleo was covering her ears in frustration to drown out the noise of the Mobian bee but to no avail, he whining only grew louder "I'm bored!"

Oh for Pete's sakes! We heard you the first time!" Cleo snapped at him as she turned around to face him with an angered face, the young flew backwards a bit and began to tear up until…

"WAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Charmy cried as spouts of tears shot out of his eyes, Deuce and Clawd turned to face Cleo with surprised looks on their faces while Cleo face-palmed herself.

"If you stop crying, you can have ice cream when we're done!" Cleo breathed out, upon hearing these words, Charmy stopped crying and looked at her with a happy face.

"Okay!" Charmy said.

"Unbelievable, unbelievable!" Cleo said as she threw her arms into the air "are you not worried that the world is in danger?!"

"I'm only worried if I should have chocolate ice cream or vanilla ice cream" Charmy said.

"You can't blame him babe, he's only a kid" Deuce said "he doesn't know what's going on".

"Yeah, well I still think he should listen more" Cleo said as she turned around and continued to walk down the street.

"Dude, what's going on Cleo?" Clawd asked.

"I don't know, she's been acting like this since this whole thing began" Deuce said.

"Maybe she wants ice cream too!" Charmy said.

"Doesn't Vector ever tell you that you shouldn't eavesdrop?" Deuce asked "this is teen talk, you're too young to listen to this kind of stuff".

"I'm old enough!" Charmy said "I listen to teen talk all the time! And adult talk too!"

"Geez kid, what've you been listening too?" Deuce asked.

"Guys, look!" Clawd said as he pointed to the side of a building, the four looked to see a chaos stone resting on the windowsill.

"I got it!" Charmy said as she flew over to the windowsill and swiped the chaos stone, the young bee looked at the chaos stone with glee "ooh! So shiny!"

"Careful Charmy, don't lose it" Clawd said.

"Don't worry! I got it!" Charmy said as he flew over to the three and handed Clawd the chaos stone.

"Alright, that's one down!" Deuce said.

"Can we have ice cream now?" Charmy asked.

"You're seriously still hyped up on having ice cream?" Cleo asked angrily, Charmy furiously nodded his head with his goofy grin, exerting Cleo to face palm herself "fine, we can get ice cream".

"YAY!" Charmy cheered as he pumped his fists in the air until suddenly, Frankie and Dib landed in front of the four with a tremendous thud that actually shook the ground and created a small crater from their fall.

"Frankie! Dib!" Clawd said as he bent over and helped them up "what happened to you two?"

"It… It was…" Frankie mumbled.

"Who? Who was it?" Clawd asked, Frankie turned to Clawd with her face torn from the impact, she looked at him with fear in her eyes and mumbled the horrid name.

"Van Hellscream…" she said.

"Van hellscream?!" Clawd, Deuce and Cleo shouted.

"Who's Van Hellscream?" Charmy asked, being the oblivious bee he was always was.

"I would be, young man" Charmy looked to his side to see a mechanical tentacle coming at him and suddenly grabbed him by his body, Charmy began to struggle for life as he tried to break free from his captor but the mechanical tentacle didn't release him, the tentacle suddenly lifted him up to the figure of Van Hellscream, Charmy looked at the man with a confused look.

"Uh… Hi?"

"Hello young man, tell me, what are you doing with the beasts that wallow in filth?" Hellscream asked.

"Wait, monster wallow in filth? Does filth include mud? Because I want to play in the mud!" Charmy said excitedly.

"Obviously you do not know what I am talking about" Hellscream said "in time though, give me the chaos stone and I shall release you".

"Oh, I don't have it, Clawd does" Charmy said as he pointed Clawd.

"Charmy!" Clawd shouted.

"What?" Charmy asked.

"So he does, does he?" Hellscream asked as he turned to Clawd and the group "give me the stone now and I shall release the bee!"

"Yeah right, like we'll give you the stone!" Dib said "especially since you already have the one me and Frankie was going to get, until you used that tentacle you have on your machine!"

"Yes, true, but I need the other chaos stone to achieve victory" Hellscream said "so if you would as to be so kind to hand it to me".

"No way! I know what you're up to!" Dib said as he blocked his path from Frankie and her friends "you just want to use them to destroy all monsters! Well it isn't going to happen! If you want to get to them, you're to get through me!" crossing his arms, Dib looked at the monster hunter with a look of determination on his face while Hellscream looked at the boy and laughed.
"If you wish, big headed child" he said, Dib's eyes suddenly began to twitch, he grasped his head in frustration and began to spaz out with his ever increasing anger.

"MY HEAD'S NOT BIG!" he screamed and lunged right at the man.

"Oh dear…" Hellscream whimpered as Dib attacked the man and began to hit him with every strength in his muscles, Clawd quickly ran over to the mechanical tentacle holding Charmy and slashed it with his claws, the tentacle suddenly fell down and Charmy flew out of its grasp and cheered.

"Woo! I'm a free Bee! Free Bee! Free Bee! Wheeee!" he said as he did an air somersault.

"Yo Dib! You done up there?" Deuce asked, Dib didn't answer but instead, raised Hellscream in the air with his bare hands and threw him off his machine, Hellscream fell onto the ground and moaned with pain while Dib pressed a button on the control panel of the machine and it began to vibrate, Dib quickly jumped off it and it exploded with great force that actually sent shockwaves across the town, Frankie and her friends looked at him with shocked faces while Dib panted heavily with his face enraged and sweat trickling down his face.

"Dib… That… Was… Voltageous!" Frankie said as she ran over to him and scooped him up into her arms and hugged him, feeling happy, Dib returned the hug.

"Ooh! I want in!" Charmy said as he got into the hug.

"Did you get the chaos stone?" Cleo asked.

"Yeah, right here" Dib said as he grabbed the stone from his pocket and handed it to her.

"Excellent, we have both of the stones!" Cleo said.

"Hey ghouls!" a familiar voice said, the group turned around to see Clawdeen, Draculaura and Operetta walking towards them and looked at the burning machine on the ground "what happened here?" Clawdeen asked.

"Only the most amazing, most awesome, most cool, most spectacular thing ever!" Charmy said with excitement.

"Well we don't have time, the chaos stones weren't in the maul" Draculaura said "sorry everyone, we looked for it really hard, we really did and we didn't find it".

"That's okay babe, look what we got" Clawd said as he pulled out the chaos stone from his jacket pocket and showed it to her, Cleo did the same with the stone she had.

"Well I'll be a hot tanned catfish! Where were they?" Operetta said "never mind, we don't have time to because we all have a universe to save!"

"She's right" Frankie said "I got a call from Jackson and he told me they already found one of the chaos emeralds, the other groups must've found the other emeralds and stones too".

"Fangtastic! We're closer to saving the universe than we think!" Draculaura said, suddenly, a small can rolled in the middle of the group, everyone became confused until it suddenly exploded and filled the air with a purple gas.

"Gross! What is this…." Clawdeen said before passing out, the entire group suddenly passed out also while Hellscream walked toward them with a smug grin on his face.

"They are unconscious, take them" he said, a hooded figure suddenly walked besides him and nodded.

"Thank you, you have provided an excellent use to me" the figure said while a group of egg-pawns walked towards the group and picked up each of the heroes and carried them to a large airship, the hooded figure began to chuckle evilly "just one more group, and them the fun starts…"
