Hey everyone! Hope this week's been good so far! As I mentioned, this week is the start of the origins arc in which Dante's past is brought to light before coming to the world of remnant. People have asked, "We don't know much about Dante's past. When will we see something about that?" Well here it is folks. This is your answer. If you don't already know, I'll be continuing the Origins arc until we reach a week before the release of RWBY Volume 2, cutting of Origins until its time to start it up again. But enough talk! Time for the show! Oh! Before I forget, this may be a little stupid to say, but if you heard the beginning theme music score from the first episode of RWBY where the narrator introduces mankind and the creatures of Grimm, which you all probably have, try imagining it here with the introduction. It'll help set the mood.

Chapter 19: The Beginning

In the beginning...there was nothing. Only darkness. And so it remained for countless ages. Then, The Creator appeared. He said, "Let there be light." And so it was. Light filled many parts of the darkness. The darkness was not pleased at first, but when The Creator showed the darkness the balance he created, the darkness agreed with the equality and receded. The Creator eventually created the worlds. And with the worlds, came their people. Yet again the darkness was not pleased. The Creator once again explained his reasoning, saying that people is a creation that must carry on. The darkness agreed with his point once more, but only for a short while. The darkness watched for too long as people frolicked and made all sorts of decisions. That's when it decided to finally take action. The darkness created entities based off of people's evils, people's sins. These sins took shape and created what are known as Dark Entities, near reflections of people. These entities were vile, cruel and merciless with their desires of the conquest of people. The Creator wished peace. So the darkness came to agreement. It split itself into four different beings, who presided as the four rulers of darkness until one day all four united once more to form the true evil. Three of these beings became Dark Entities, while one became an angel. His name...was Lucifer. But like all beings of the darkness, Lucifer had plans. He wished to rule in The Creators stead. For this treachery, The Creator cast down Lucifer into the center of one of the worlds, forever to be trapped. But that did not stop him. Now that he became a supreme entity of darkness, he unleashed his dominion upon the worlds. His minions were on the verge of freeing their master from his prison, but unexpectedly...one of their own turned on them. He saw no justice or right in their ways, and so fought countless armies of the darkness, ending with Lucifer being sealed further down in the world, creating the Nine Circles of Hell. The three other entities created from the original darkness went to other worlds to conquer them, but like their brother Lucifer, they all failed. Two of the beings souls went to Lucifer, while the other, remained trapped like his brother, only his humiliating defeat was at the hands of people. As the centuries passed, people had forgotten the deeds of the brave and noble who protected them. They became gullible, believing these events fairy tales and myths. Unbeknownst to the people of the worlds, the darkness plotted to return. Soon. And with the return of the darkness, a tale of tragedy and sorrow to follow close behind these events as the people of the worlds would face the greatest challenge, far greater than that of many years ago. But now...we focus on the story of a young boy, who has yet to realize his role, his heritage and his true destiny. He will be faced with trials no other has experienced. But not all destinies are realized. The boy will have choices to make that will effect the outcome of his long journey. Will he be the one to save the worlds as destined? Or destroy them?

Somewhere on a bus in rainy skies...

My name...is Dante. I'm fourteen years old. And...I can't remember anything before a week ago. All I know is my name...and how old I am. That's it. Nothing else special about me. From what I heard, this bus is on its way to New Wellington, California. Nice city too. To be honest...I don't know where I'm going. I don't know what I'm supposed do. What my purpose in life is. But...I feel I'll probably find out something in New Wellington.

"Here's your stop kid."

The bus doors opened up. The white haired teen stepped out into the cold rain. He wore a pair of grey shorts, along with a black jacket hoodie that was tightened at his arms and torso and a pair of black running shoes. The teen pulled the hood on his head and shoved his hands in his pockets as he walked down the wet streets.

If anything, I need to find something...like a school. That way I won't get into any trouble with the law.

Luckily enough, he happened to be passing by a school site.

"New Wellington high school...for the gifted, intelligent, and so forth. Well...might as well give it a shot."

He had been sitting in a large, marble conference room awaiting the results from the tests he took. A woman soon entered the room. She wore a tight, tan skirt just four inches from her knees, a white long sleeved shirt under her tan coat and black high heeled shoes. Along with her appearances, the woman had long, black hair tied in a ponytail. Her eyes were a clear turquoise blue accompanied by a pair of black glasses and her skin a peachy complexion. She looked young, twenty four years old from Dante's guess. In her hands, she held a holographic tablet, overlooking information. She then pulled up a chair and sat down directly across from the teen, a smile present on her face.

"You have impressed me...mr.?"

"Dante."

"Mr. Dante. Pleasure to meet you. My name is Kimberly White."

She extended her hand to Dante, who in return didn't give his.

"I see you're not social."

"I'm just not that much in a trusting attitude as of late."

"I see. Very well then. As I said, you have indeed impressed me mr. Dante. You're test results have come back. I'm happy to inform you that you obtained a perfect score. A feat only accomplished by one other student."

"You're kidding right?"

"See for yourself."

She handed Dante the holographic screen she had, revealing his test scores.

"You seem surprised."

"I am."

"What I want to know is where you received your education."

"I...I don't know."

"You don't know?"

"Listen ms. White-"

"You don't remember."

"What?! How did-?"

"Perception mr. Dante. One of the many skills you will learn here if you decide to stay." Ms. White folded her hands together and stared Dante down as he slid her screen back to her.

"You can trust me. I'm only here to help you."

Dante sighed, looking in one direction before looking back to ms. White.

"You want to know the truth? Fine. I honestly can't remember anything beyond a week ago. And it's frustrating. Not being able to remember who you where...I don't even know if I had a family or not."

"Troubling...what made you come to my school?"

"You're school?"

"Surprised?"

"I'm surprised that someone in her mid-twenties is the principal of such a prestigious school."

"If you have the knowledge, anything is possible."

"I guess...I needed to find a place to live."

"Considering you obtained a perfect score, and have no other place to stay, you have the opportunity to stay here until you graduate on a full scholarship."

"So you're also a boarding school."

"An excellent one might I add. What do you say mr. Dante? Do we have a deal?"

Well, looks like I'm here until I graduate. I guess it's alright.

After accepting ms. Whites offer, Dante had left the main building to find his room in the the dormitory building. The skies were still dark and the rain still poured continuously. In the teens hands a holographic projection system that could call, message, write notes, make presentations, use maps...it was basically all that you would need to survive.

Let's see...I'm in room 636. So I'm on the sixth floor...ugh. Long way up...

"Hey you!"

Huh?

Dante turned to see three people approaching him. One of them was pretty fat, the other quite skinny, while the one in the middle was about Dante's size, five four and more muscular than the white haired teen was.

"Who are you guys?" He asked the group of three.

"I'm the one asking questions. So, you're the new kid who got a perfect score huh? Well well well. You pretty much do look like the kind of geek who'd get that kind of score. But then again, judging from your looks, you'd probably be more of the stylish kind."

"So you're here to greet me? Well that's nice of you. I was actually in need of a tour guide."

"What'd you say punk?! You looking to die?!"

"Maybe."

The muscular kid walked up to Dante and grabbed him by the collar, raising him in the air.

"You must be some punk ass bitch who thinks he can do anything he wants."

"Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? Or is she busy kissing other dudes?"

"Son of a bitch!"

The muscular teen smashed Dante's legs into the ground then landed a solid punch into his jaw, sending him into the wet ground. His two cronies held up Dante, while the teen rubbed his hand.

"Not only a tough guy, but you've also got tough bones. All the more fun to break!"

He landed another punch to Dante's jaw, this time drawing blood.

"What's a matter? Not such a tough talker now?!"

He pulled back his arm to punch Dante once more, only to find it stopped by another's hand.

"What's going on here guys?" Asked a calm voice.

The muscular teen turned around to find a fist in his face that sent him on his back towards his cronies. After that, the figure kicked the fat one in the face, then tossed the skinny one into his fat friend while walking towards them.

"Hit the road assholes." Said the figure.

"You'll pay for this!"

The group of three picked themselves up and ran away. The figure chuckled as he shook his head.

"You alright man?" He said extending his hand to Dante.

The white haired teen took his hand and stood up, rubbing his jaw.

"Yeah...thanks..."

"Woah..."

"What is it?"

"I saw you get nailed in the face twice. You look otherwise."

"Really?"

Dante felt his face.

No bumps or bruises. Weird. And I didn't even feel his hits.

"So...you're the new guy around town?"

"Preying on me next?"

"No way. Just curious. You're not staying here are you?"

"Unfortunately..." Replied Dante staring at the building ahead.

"No way dude. Luckily for you, you've met the right guy. I'm Zack. Zack Charleston."

"Dante."

"Dante? That's a pretty cool name! So what do ya think? Wanna stay at my place?"

Dante turned his from the school to Zack.

"Yeah...I think that'll be...preferable."

"YOU live here?!" Asked a surprised Dante.

He stepped out of the limo with Zack in front of the Charleston Hotel.

"Wait...you own this hotel?!"

"My family owns it. It's one of the big hotels in the states. My parents wanted me to go to New Wellington High School and said I can run things at the hotel here."

"Let me guess...we're staying in the penthouse?"

"Oh yeah."

Dante finally took the time to examine his new friend. He was about Dante's size and had nearly the same physique. The only difference was Zack's eyes were an amber color, while his hair was jet black, short, and spiky with bangs brushed down the sides of his face.

"You coming in? Or you planning on sleeping in the rain?"

"Sorry."

"No big deal. Take your time."

The two entered through the automatic hotel doors.

"Wow..."

"Welcome...to the Charleston Hotel. One of the best hotels you'll ever stay in."

"Impressive."

"Totally. Now, to our room."

"You've gotta be kidding me...are you a billionaire?"

"Pretty much. Almost everyone in New Wellington has a substantial living. Luckily, you're staying with me."

Zack opened the large doors.

This guys full of surprises...

The penthouse had a large room with two beds, two bathrooms and two closets. The dining room was large and decorated with countless pieces of art, going from pictures to statues of grey marble. Then there was the entertainment room, which had a ninety inch hd tv with a surround sound system. Along with the room came numerous video game consoles, games, and movies, along with sports gear arranged for different sorts of sports, like football or baseball. It even had an indoor pool and jacuzzi.

"This is incredible!"

"Never seen anything like it before?"

"None that I can remember."

"Well that's alright. This is your home now. So smile will ya?"

Dante tried putting on his best smile.

"I guess that'll work. Now, you're about my size, so you can use my other half of the uniforms for school. And if you need to, you can use some of my everyday clothes."

"Thanks Zack. It means a lot that you're doing all this."

"Like I said, no problem! Let's head down to get some dinner! I'm starving man!"

The next day...

New Wellington High School, lunchroom,12:45 p.m

"All I'm saying is you gotta learn to defend yourself." Said Zack as he took a bite from his lunch.

"Do I need to? I mean...it's okay. I can't really feel anything." Said Dante.

The white haired teen then began to tug on his collar.

"What I really hate are these uniforms!"

Dante gave another tug. The teen, along with Zack, wore a white long sleeved, button up shirt with a black tie, black fancy jacket trimmed with gold, black trousers and shiny black dress shoes.

"Doesn't it ever get hot here?" Asked Dante.

"Naw. It's either raining or the skies are dark here."

"No sunshine?"

"We get lucky sometimes."

"Dude...this is California."

"I know."

They continued on other conversations while eating their food. Then something drew the young fourteen year olds attention. More like someone. Inside the beautifully decorated cafeteria entered a girl. She had long blond hair that went to her waist that was neatly brushed down. She had sparkling amethyst eyes along with a nice peachy skin tone. Her nails were clear colored. The girl was dressed similarity to Dante and Zack, only, she wore a dark blue skirt four inches above her knee with golden line patterns, along with black, thigh-high socks and black dress shoes. Needless to say, she was extremely beautiful.

"Woah..."

"What?" Asked Zack.

"Who is she?" Asked Dante, distracted by the girl. Zack eventually found who he was staring.

"Ah...that's who has you deep in love?"

Embarrassed, Dante said "Shut up!" Red had flushed his face.

"Come on! Admit it!"

"I said shut up Zack! You gonna tell me who she is or not?!"

"Alright alright! Calm down! So...where do I begin..."

"Here name genius."

"Right. Her name is Sibyl Livingston. She...is the mayors daughter."

"Huh?"

"The mayor of New Wellington? Sibyl is his daughter."

"No way..."

"Yes way. If anything, you'd be lucky if she even looked at you."

Dante ignored that last comment and continued staring at Sibyl.

She's...beautiful...I will admit, she is…well endowed…who am I kidding? No way she'll talk to me...

At the last second, he saw Sibyl look his way.

Shit! She noticed me!

The teen quickly turned his head away and subtly looked back.

Dammit! She's coming this way!

"Oh wow. She's coming this way." Said Zack.

"I noticed!" Whispered Dante silently.

Sibyl eventually made her way to the two and placed both her hands on the table, staring directly at Dante.

W-What's she doing? , thought Dante.

She was examining him.

"You have...white hair. And blue eyes." Said Sibyl.

What captivated Dante, was that she spoke with an English accent.

"Uh..."

"What's your name?"

"Uh..."

"Is uh all you can say?" She asked calmly.

"His name is-"

"Abahbahbah! I'm asking him, Charleston!"

"Sorry princess."

"So, what's your name?"

"M-my names uh..." Dammit, man up Dante! Don't be so nervous! You can talk to this girl!

Dante took a deep breath.

"Sorry about that. I'm Dante."

"Sibyl Livingston. How do you do?" She replied with her hand extended.

Dante gently grasped her hand and shook.

"Fine I guess."

"I hope Charleston hasn't been filling your head with garbage."

"My names Zack if you forgot. And for your information, he's staying with me."

"Really?" She asked. She leaned in closer to Dante's face, whose face became red again.

"You don't have a family?" She asked.

"I... I don't know. I don't remember anything."

"Anything? Hmm...that's...unfortunate."

"He just woke up and got on board a bus for here. Plus, he's the new guy who scored perfect not he entrance examine." Added Zack.

"You're kidding! He's the one!" Asked Sibyl in surprise.

"Smart...handsome...I feel we'll get along nicely!" She said.

"We will?" Asked Dante in surprise.

"You will?" Asked Zack.

"Of course! And I suppose we can too Charle- I mean...Zack."

"Sweet." Said the black haired teen leaning back in his chair.

"Mind if I join you two?" She asked.

"Not at all." Said Zack.

She sat down next to Dante.

"What about you?" She asked him.

"I-I don't mind."

"Ugh! Don't be so shy all the time! Be more confident will you?"

"S-sure."

Zack only chuckled at the two. A bell rang.

"Well! Time for the evening assembly!" Said Zack rising from his chair.

"Evening assembly?" Asked Dante.

"We have them in the evenings after lunch instead of in the morning. Now come on! We're gonna be late!" Said sibyl grabbing the twos arms.

She then dragged the two of them down the hall towards the auditorium.

"So there's evening assemblies?" Asked Dante.

"Right you are!" Replied Zack.

The group of three were sitting in one of the middle sections of the multiple rows in the large auditorium. In front of them was a massive stage, so big that Dante thought it could be used for an opera show. All the teachers sat up on the stage as ms. White headed for the microphone.

"Good day to you all students. I hope your day has been eventful and productive. Now then...Friday we have..."

Dante was trying to pay attention, but found little care for the sports teams and their perfect game wins.

I'm bored...man... I wish something interesting can happen to make the boredom go away.

And that's when the teen noticed something strange happening. His hand was covered in black fire-like energy. He didn't react, since it didn't burn, but he was intrigued nonetheless.

What...the hell...why is my hand on fire? Not just on fire, but black fire. Good thing Zack or Sibyl didn't notice.

He quickly shoved his hand in his pocket and checked back and forth constantly. His hand was still blazing.

Seriously now, turn off! Out! Flame off!

The flames were still present.

Dammit.

He heard something. A small fine tuned whine in his head.

What was that?!

The whine grew loader towards the doorway where Dante stared.

Weird...it's like...it's warning me. Is something coming out from the door?

The whine grew loader.

I don't like this...I'm getting a bad feeling.

The door exploded and in filed men dressed in black uniforms, strangely resembling SWAT uniforms, along with assault rifles in their hands and pistols strapped to their legs.

Well that's great!

Everyone in the auditorium started to panic and run.

I gotta get out of here!

By pure luck, Dante managed to get outside one of the doors they didn't enter through. He peeked back inside to see the armed men had settled people back into their seats, constantly pointing their guns at the crowd.

I wanna run...but...he looked back inside to see Zack and Sibyl. Dammit! What do I do?! If only...huh?!

Dante noticed the black fire on his right hand had expanded to his elbow.

It's strange...this...whatever it is...told me those guys were showing up. Alright then. "If you were able to tell me those guys were coming, you can obviously do more. Please! My friends are in there and I don't know what to do! I want to help them, but I don't know how! Please! Help me!"

The black fire grew large before going back down into Dante's hand then formed into his hand. The fire soon came off his hand and went into the air in front of the teen. He stood up as the fire became circular and wide. Without thinking, Dante stuck his hand inside the black fire and felt something. It was cold...metallic.

What could it be?

The teen got a better grip on whatever it was and tugged until the object came out of the fire. The flames around the object dispersed and revealed what it was.

Wow...

It was a sword. A katana if Dante was right.

This...is a type of Murasama blade...this kind of blade dates back to the 16th century! Wait, how do I know this?!

He further examined the blade. It was jet black, from the tip of the blade all the way down to the butt of the weapon, in exception for the sharp edge, which was white.

Strange...it doesn't have a guard.

From the tip of the hilt, where the guard would have been located, extend a small half an inch prong. The middle of the handle was hollowed out.

Awesome...I have a badass sword. But I highly doubt I can just waltz in there and live.

The flames from where he pulled out his sword soon grew large and covered his body. The flames dispersed once more and the teen opened his eyes.

Wow!

His clothes were replaced with a pair of grey jeans and black boots that had silver colored soles. He now wore a black long sleeved shirt that had a hood. The shirt also had tail ends that went down to his boots.

Neat! I look like some kind of superhero! Maybe this stuffs bulletproof? Let's hope so! Still, I need to hide my face.

Black flames soon surrounded the front of his face and dispersed, revealing a black mask covering his face. The black mask was the face half of a skull, with its mouth closed and two small horns protruding from its forehead.

Scary, but I like it! Okay then! I guess it's time to be a hero!

"Now that we have your attention, and not trying to run away, I'd like you all to remove all the cash and precious items you have on your persons! If you resist, we kill you. If you don't resist, there's a smaller chance we won't kill you! Any questions? Good! Now! Let's begin!"

Everyone started going through their pockets and putting whatever object of value they had into the bags.

"I can't believe it! How did they get past security?!" Asked Sibyl.

"I don't know, but these guys are professionals from the looks of it." Zack looked to his chair.

"Where's Dante?" He asked.

"What?"

"He's not here Sibyl!"

"Do you think he got out?" She asked.

"Hopefully he did and he's getting help."

Zack looked to see a student resisting and then got pushed to the ground. The armed man raised his gun and intended to shoot, but he grunted in pain as a black blade went directly through his chest. More screams of pain arose as more of the armed men fell to the ground dead all around the dark spots of the auditorium with impalements through their chests. All that was left was the leader at the top of the stage.

"W-what the hell is going on?! Who's doing this?! Which one of you is doing this?!"

"Me."

Out from the shadows of the doorway stepped out Dante in his new form, hood over his head, concealing the skull mask covering his face. The hood however, concealed it so well, it was dark under the hood, making it unseeable.

"W-who the hell are you?!"

Dante gave no response. He only took steps closer to the armed man. In the next second, he raised his assault rifle and fired at the teen. The bullets simply bounced off the teen like rubber bands from a rubber band gun.

I can't even feel the bullets hit me...this is awesome! Okay...gotta calm down! I can contemplate my awesomeness later after I deal with this guy.

"W-what the hell are you?!"

The man drew his large knife and tried to stab Dante. The teen dodged and lobbed off the man's hand with ease, causing him to flail backwards and scream in pain.

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU?!" He screamed in fear.

He was on his back, crawling away from Dante. The teen pulled down his hood, revealing his black skull face, eyes hollow and black.

"Your worst nightmare."

Dante then took his foot and stomped on the mans face. Everyone in the crowd was in awe as Dante stood up as he removed his foot from the mans face. They all gasped when they saw his face. From afar, ms. White was watching closely.

Interesting...

The lights flickered off, then back on. Dante was gone.

"What the hell was that all about?"

"Dante?!" Said Zack in surprise.

"Hey Zack."

"Where'd you go?"

"Oh, I uh...left and called the police...but man! That guy was so cool whoever he was!" Said Dante.

"He did save us! And his style of clothing was... impressive." Said Sibyl.

I guess they like me.

"Think he needed to kill all those guys except for their leader?" Asked Zack.

"They would have killed us either way. They were from Ashford Syndicate." Said Sybil.

"The Ashford Syndicate?" Asked a confused Dante.

"Big organization hell bent on punishing the strong and the rich. They're kinda of like the evil Robin Hood." Said Zack.

A syndicate attacking a school...what's up with that? Why would they...well, this is a school full of rich kids. Still...

"Anyway, I'm glad that guy showed up. We would've been toast without him!"

"Yeah..." Said Dante.

Well, I guess today was a good day. I found out I have powers, became a hero and saved people...I like this! Let's hope I can keep this going. If so, maybe I can eventually find my purpose in life...and maybe even who I was in the past.

"Dude, let's go home. I'm beat!"

"You are so lazy Zack!" said Sybil

"No! I'm just one who relaxes after a hard days work!"

"What work?! You didn't even do anything today!"

Dante turned to his arguing friends.

And these two...they're...my friends. And they're here to help no matter. I'm glad...I know them.

"What's the matter Dante?" Asked Sybil.

"Huh? Oh nothing. Just...contemplating stuff."

"Well whatever you're thinking about can wait. Dinner at my place guys!" Shouted Zack.

Dante and Sybil shrugged as they followed after Zack.
