Chapter Twenty: Revenge Is Never Easy
Landing softly, Peter turned and pulled the branch down and waited for the oak door to slide out and reveal the entrance. Faintly they could hear the chatter and laughter of the lost boys below creating havoc in the hideout.
"Go ahead." He said quietly to Wendy, breaking the silence that had lapsed over them while they flew, while extending an arm toward the dark hole that had opened up in the oak. Noticing her apprehension to go down the dark slide he spoke again his voice softening, knowing that last time she went down to the hideout she was pushed by Nibs, "I'll be right behind you."
Wendy pierced her lips before nodding and pulling herself through the dark opening. Wind rushed through her ash locks and the noise from the lost boys became louder. Warm light began to flood the dark tunnel as it came to an end, and just like that Wendy was sitting on the ground in the hideout and out of the dark tunnel.
"Mother!"
Hands gripped her arms and pulled her to her feet and pulled her out of the tunnels entrance. It was just in time to because at that moment Peter came out of the tunnel and landed on his feet right where Wendy had sat. He took one look at Wendy and smirked. "I told you I'd be right behind you."
Wendy rolled her eyes, "Come on. We came here for a reason didn't we?"
The smirked dropped from Peters face and he nodded solemnly before walking to his throne and pulling out two of the cutlasses from the rack beside it, one silver and one gold.
"Where are you guys going?" One of the twins called cheerily from where he was wrestling with his other.
Sensing something was wrong Nibs walked over to Peter with a small frown on his face.
"Yeah. What's up Peter?" he murmured quietly so none of the other lost boys could hear.
"Hook's taken your Mothers brothers to BlackBridge Hold." he murmured back, equally as quiet, if not more.
"Then I'm coming with you."
"No." Peter cut him off quickly. "I need you to stay and look after the rest of the boys, make sure they don't get into trouble."
Nib's opened his mouth to protest but was cut off when Peter placed a hand on his shoulder, "Nibs."
The younger boy sighed in defeat, "Okay."
"Thank you Nibs. Alright the rest of you," Peter dropped his hand from Nibs' shoulder and looked to the others, "Nibs is in charge."
Groans sounded throughout the room. Peter rolled his eyes before walking back to Wendy and taking her hand, "C'mon."
He pulled her to the exit up the stairs that led back out of the tree. Once they back out into the forest he turned and looked into her blue eyes. They shone of fear, anger and something else. He just couldn't put his finger on it.
"You okay?" He asked, knowing that she must be scared for her brother's safety. He watched as her eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
"Yeah why wouldn't I be?"
Before Peter could respond a voice cut him off.
"Maybe because your brothers are most likely gonna die if we don't get moving now."
Both Peter and Wendy turned their heads in the direction of the newcomer's voice. They were surprised, in the least, to see White Cub leaning against a tree with his arms crossed over his chest, Tanté laying beside him with his head on his large white paws.
"White Cub." Wendy gasped out.
Before she could say anything else, Peter stepped forward and growled out, "What are you doing here White Cub?"
"Relax, Little Eagle. I've come to help you." the Indian said, hands raised in surrender and obviously ignoring Peter's hostility.
"We don't need your help."
"Peter." Wendy hissed out from behind him.
"Well we don't," he snapped back turning to the girl behind him before glaring back at the Indian Boy, "If anything he'll just get in our way."
This earned a scoff from White Cub, "I'm and archer Little Eagle, I'll be well out of your way."
"It doesn't matter. We're leaving. And you're not coming with us."
"And why not?"
"Because I said so!"
"That's not a reason."
"Because-"
"ENOUGH!" Wendy yelled from between them, sick of their arguing. "While you two are fighting, my brothers and your princess are one step closer to Davy Jones' Locker! So shut the hell up and let's go."
She stormed past the two boys and into the forest.
"Uh, Wendy?"
"What!" She snapped turning back to look at the two.
"It's that way." White Cub pointed the opposite way. With that she began storming off that way. While walking past White Cub he grabbed her arm.
"And where do you think you're going." He asked with one eyebrow raised.
"To go save my brothers." She ground out, struggling to get out of the boys grip.
"Well sorry to break it to you princess but, you're weapon-less, heading to the most deadliest place on this island, against pirates. You won't win."
"He's right Wendy." Peter sighed.
"Well if you two would both just set aside your differences for one moment so we could go get my brothers then maybe we might have a chance."
The two males looked between each other until Peter spat out, "Fine."
White Cub let go of Wendy's arm and walked over to Tanté who had stood up while they were arguing and swung himself onto the large wolf. "Well then, let's go."
Peter sighed in irritation and stalked over to Wendy and grasped her hand ready to take flight.
"Which entrance?" White cub called.
"Upper East." He replied curtly before taking off with Wendy and flying to the ruined fort, Tanté and White Cub charging through the forest beneath them.
John kept his head hung low as the small boat continued to glide through the glassy water of the ocean, Hooks ominous figure sitting at the front looking out to the moon that was just rising on the horizon. As the boat headed further out to sea, the waves begun to build and become choppy. But the boat kept moving. Risking a look, John peeked through his black hair and looked up at the two other captives. Michael was clutching his Teddy to his chest like it was the only thing that would keep him safe and the Indian Princess was looking around with wide eyes, fear evident in her emerald orbs.
For what seemed like many hours the boat moved silently upon the ocean, the only sound heard was the sound of small waves licking at the small boat hull and the oars splashing against the water.
Hooks cold voice sliced the silence when a destroyed fort came into sight:
"There it is boys. BlackBridge Hold."
John shivered. Whether it was because of the way Hook had spoken or the haunted look of the crumbling fortress, he did not know. All he knew was they were not here for tea.
As they approached the old hold, John could see that the entrance was only a large hole in the wall, most likely from weather deterioration. The boat moved closer and closer to the old fortress and eventually passed through the hole in the wall, stopping when it bumped into the room's floor.
As soon as the boat had stopped, the children were yanked harshly out of the small boat by three pirates. Hook stepped out of the boat after them and with him pulled out a large rifle that had been adjusted so with a tug of his hook it would fire.
"Like all great surprise attacks, it must be conducted properly." He cocked his hook into the modified rifle.
"Wha' shall we do with the children sir?" Smee question, tightening his grip on Tigerlilly.
Hook barely regarded them before he replied with a, "Chain them up."
The pirates holding the two boys chuckled darkly before marching off to a row of manacles that were chained in the ground just above and opening of cold, dark water.
"Cap'ain ordered us ta' pu' these 'ere a while back. Sai' it would be good for si'uations like this." Smee explained to the children. "Ya' see, when the tide up this 'ole place is sum'merged. Leavin' anyone chaine' up lef' ta' drown." Fear washed over the captives and they had never wished so hard for something other than the hope of rescue.
"Oh shu' up Smee." One of the other pirates snapped at the plump first mate, before moving to the far set of manacles. Upon closer inspection, John noticed that these further ones still had skeletons attached, there bony arms held above their heads by the manacles, rags hanging off their bony carcass'.
Tigerlilly's eyes bulged out of their sockets with fear and she began to mutter a prayer under her breath in her native tongue. The pirates pushed their prisoners towards the manacles and released the skeletons from their hold, before snapping the manacles on the three children.
"Terribly sorry about this, Princess." Smee mocked while snapping the chains onto Tigerlilly who scoffed and looked to John who was being chained up by an old, skinny pirate with a tangled grey beard.
"Any last words?" He sneered to the oldest of brothers, who just shook his head repeatedly.
Michael was still clinging to his Teddy as the pirate came before him to try and place the manacles to his wrist.
"Give me your arms." The pirate barked out, his brown eyes looking deadly upon the small boy. Michael pouted and shook his head vigorously, clinging to Teddy even tighter than before.
The pirate snatched the teddy from the child's grasp and clamped the shackles hard onto the young boys wrists.
"TEDDY!" Michael yelled out, making to retrieve his beloved teddy once more, but was restrained by the manacles.
"Beg for your lives!" The skinny pirate gibed. Michael and John looked to each other before John puffed his chest out and stood up straight.
"We are true Aussie Men! And true Aussie Men do not beg." He spat out the last word with confidence. Tigerlilly had to admit, she was impressed with the older brothers boldness. Michael on the other hand was not feeling very brave at all. Dropping to his knees and clasping his hands together and pleaded to the pirates.
"Please! Please! Please don't kill us." He grabbed at the closest pirates hands. Any thoughts of being impressed with John left Tigerlilly's mind as he followed his brother's footsteps and also dropped to his knees.
"Please! Please don't kill me." He begged. Tigerlilly rolled her emerald eyes with a huff.
The pirates looked at each other before bursting out laughing. The pirate that Michael was clinging to pushed the boy off him and gagged him with a piece of fabric from his pocket. The other two pirates gagged their respective captives before pushing them into the cold water. The tree children all inhaled sharply as the icy water hit their chests. Arms raised above the water, they were submerged up to their necks.
They were startled when a splash of water came to the right of them, next to Michael. They all looked over to where the noise had emanated and were shocked to Teddy also 'gagged' and shackled in the water.
While the three children were struggling in the water, Hook sat poised behind a rock from where he could shoot Pan when he came through the hole in the wall, knowing in his mind that that was the only open entrance.
"Fly to the rescue Pan, where I can shoot right through you noble intentions."
A storm was brewing as Peter landed gracefully on what once would have been a balcony overlooking the ocean, but was now only a platform with piles of rocks scattered over it. The wind was howling around them and the ocean below was raging. Bright blasts of lightning illuminated the sky and were always followed by the booming roar of thunder. He let go of Wendy's hand and paced the platform, waiting for White Cub to arrive, before pulling out the silver cutlass from his belt. He walked back over to Wendy, whose hair was whipping furiously around her face, and handed the sword to her.
"Here I got this for you. You do know how to use it right?" He smirked, already knowing the answer. He didn't give her a chance to answer before moving into an offensive stance. Wendy raised her sword in defence as Peter swinging at her, creating a loud clanging sound as their swords impacted. Wendy parried his attack and was met with a smirk as her sword hit his. They continued this game until their swords met once again and slid into an 'x'. Her bright blue eyes bore into his deep green as they stood there panting. They did not realise that they were both leaning into until a cough broke them from the trance they had found themselves in.
Breaking apart they saw White Cub sitting relaxed on a large rock, Tanté sitting at the base of said rock. Wendy could swear she saw a hint of jealousy flash across his deep brown eyes, but it was gone before she could be certain. 'I must be hallucinating.' She thought.
"So what's the plan?" the Indian Boy asked, jumping off his rock and walking towards the two.
"We enter from that entrance," Peter pointed to an entrance to his left, "and we retrieve Wendy's brothers along with Tigerlilly. Maybe...bumping off... a couple of pirates along the way."
White Cub chuckled at Peter's bluntness before turning to Tanté and scratching behind the ears. In his native tongue he spoke to the wolf, "Go back to camp."
Tanté let out a wine before leaning his head into White Cubs hand, causing the Indian to give a light chuckle, "I'll be fine. Promise. Now go."
At his friend's word, the wolf stood up and jumped over the piles of rocks and ran off. White Cub turned back to the other two teenagers and pulled his bow of his back. "Ready?"
"Yeah. Just one thing," Peter looked at the both of them, who looked at him to continue, "Leave Hook to me."
White Cub rolled his eyes but nodded anyway, before disappearing through the holds entrance. There was no way he was going to go up against Hook while Peter was there. Everyone on the island knew if they were to fight against the pirates with Peter, Hook was Peters target.
"Of course." Wendy said quietly.
"Alright then let's go." Peter turned to the entrance before turning back to Wendy, "Wendy, stay here and wait for my signal."
And with that, he too disappeared into the hold.
"Wait here? Wait here!" She shrieked indignantly, "PETER!"
"PETER!"
The name rung through the room, echoing off the stony walls like bells in a chapel. Hook snapped his head up at the cry and looked to where the echo was entering. At the very end of the cavern, there was a large rusted grate, large enough for him to fit through, hanging off its hinges, darkness dwelling within the hole.
With soft steps, he ran over to the grate and charged right into the darkness, following the faint sound of waves crashing against the cliffs until he saw the exit. Another rusted grate was occupying the wall and with a forceful push, it broke free from the stone and landed with large clang on the hard ground. (AN. This is not the same exit White Cub and Peter went through. Just if anyone was a bit confused.)
Hook ran out and stopped suddenly, wildly aiming his rifle, searching for a target. Slowly, he began to walk forward, his shocking blue eyes searching for his prey.
Unbeknownst to him, Wendy was hiding just behind a large hill of rubble and boulders, peeking out through a small gap. Thus when Wendy first laid eyes on the dark figure whom haunted her stories she saw the piercing eyes and was not afraid, but entranced.
He stood there, at the edge of the platform and stared out to the water, the raging wind blowing his dark curly mane away from him. He was about to turn away and leave when a small clang caught his ear.
When the wind hit Wendy her body involuntary shiver passed through her body, whether it was from the chill of the wind or the way Hook's blue eyes pierced through the air, she did not know. The unexpected action caused her arm to twitch and in result, the sword she still had grasped in her hand hit the rock softly. Wendy clenched her jaw and closed her eyes, only hoping that Hook would not discover her hiding place.
Hook slowly turned around and scanned the piles of rubble for any signs of movement. Once he was satisfied there was nothing there, he turned and walked off the balcony, back into the dark passage he had come through.
Peter came out of the dark tunnel and saw White Cub crouched down with his bow clutched in his hand, observing the scene below them like a hawk would from their vantage point in the sky. The passage from the balcony had taken them to the highest point of the stony room, a ledge of fallen rocks that had fallen from the roof. The only reason it was stable was because it had fallen on a large statue that was built within the wall (and when I say large, I mean it. The thing was huge).
"What's happening down there?" Peter whispered.
"Eel Skin Syd, Tobias Morgan and Smee have just finished tying up Tigerlilly and what looks like Wendy's brothers. Hooks' nowhere in sight."
Peter frowned, where was Hook if he wasn't here. While Peter was lost in his thoughts, White Cub noticed the three pirates getting back in their small boat starting to row away.
"Shit" He swore in his native tongue before elbowing Peter sharply, grabbing his attention and earning a hard glare. White Cub only shrugged and nodded to the pirates before gruffly saying, "Look."
Peter followed the Indian Boys gaze, his eyes widening when he saw the trio of pirates rowing slowly gliding away. His signature smirk took its place as a plan formed in his mind.
"Watch this." He whispered to White Cub before flying down to the statue below them where a giant hand laid open palm up. Laying down on his stomach Peter peeped over the edge, cleared his throat softly and took a deep breath before calling out, "MISTER SMEE!"
To White Cubs' astonishment, the flying boy's voice was not his own, but the Pirate Captains. He knew he was not imagining it though because Smee started looking wildly around the ruined room for his captain.
"Cap'ain? Is tha' you?" He chocked out.
"Mr Smee! Good Lord man, what do you think you're doing?" Hooks thundering voice rang through the clearing.
"W-w-well ya'- ya' told me ta' pu' the children on the rocks Cap'ain." Smee stuttered out, pointing to where the children were still struggling to get out of the iron clasps that held them. "Like ya' said."
"Set them free." Hooks voice demanded.
"Se' them free?" Smee repeated in utter confusion. Hadn't he just been told to chain them up? "Bu' wha' abou' your plan?"
"Set them free or I'll plunge my hook in you!"
The pirate looked to his comrades before rowing frantically back to the platform. Getting out of the boat he stormed over to where the children were looking on with wide eyes. "Chain them up. Set them free. I don' know wha' he wants from me."
He released the prisoners who gasped with relief once the chains were unlocked. "And take this bloody thing too." Smee spat, throwing Teddy in the water right next to Michael, who clung to it like it was the only thing that would keep him afloat. They boys were lucky that their parents had enlisted them into swimming school since they could walk, and could easily stay above the water.
As Smee turned away and returned to his boat, Tigerlilly saw an intimidating shadow coming from a passage not far off from where they were. She seemed to be the only one to see it and swiftly kicked John through the water.
"Ouch. Bloody hell woman. What?" The older brother whisper-yelled to the Indian girl, forgetting all of his manners in that moment.
The princess rolled her eyes and in English told him , "Hold your breath." before taking a deep breath and disappearing under the dark water.
Nodding to himself he repeated the sentence to his little brother and immersing himself in the water also. Confused, little Michael looked around wildly before being pulled under by his leg, only just inhaling enough air.
Sure enough, as soon as Michael was under the water Captain Hook himself came out from the passage, and was outraged when he saw the shackles empty.
"Smee!" He barked out.
"Yes Cap'ain?" the round pirate appeared with a grin on his face below Hook. The captain bristled to why his first mate was smiling when his captives were obviously not there. In fact the children had swum under the water and came back up in a hollow in the wall, right under Hooks feet.
Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he asked quietly, "Where are the children?"
"I se' them free. Like ya said." His first mate replied smugly.
"You what?"
"It's alrigh'. I le' them go."
Hook let out a sardonic laugh in which the Smee and the pirate Syd joined. "You... let... them... go?" Hook repeated slowly. Syd and Smee nodded in reply.
Suddenly a loud bang sounded throughout the cavern and both the two pirates put their hands to their hearts, knowing precisely what had happened. The captain had shot one of them, and Smee was relieved to find no bullet hole in his chest but pitifully looked at Syd who gurgled twice before falling face first into the water.
"Mr Smee!" Hooks voice rang from behind the first mate, a shriek erupting from his mouth.
The real Hook looked around wistfully, aware that it was Pans magic that was impersonation his voice, but unaware from where the voice was coming from.
"Who are you?" Hook asked feigning bewilderment, "Where are you?"
The imposter let out a barking laugh, "Well I'm Captain James Hook, Captain of the Jolly Roger."
"You are not! If you are, then who am I?"
"You sir, are a codfish."
Hook and Smee looked between each other and Smee just shrugged. Peter who had witnessed the whole encounter rolled on his back and gave a boyish chuckle, to which he quickly covered with his hands. Hook heard the chuckle and a wicked smirk adorned his features. He slowly began walking to a stairwell which cut off to a small platform.
"Do you have another name?" He asked the voice.
"Yes."
"Is it one of a fish?"
"No!"
"Of a rock?
"No!"
"An animal?"
"...Yes."
By now Hook was half way up the stairs that sat adjacent to the statue Peter was obliviously laying on, arms resting behind his as a pillow.
"Man?"
"NO!" Hooks voice snarled out, a hint of a younger tone within the voice.
"Boy?"
"Yes!" the voice was now softer, and filled with excitement.
"Ordinary boy?"
"NO!"
White Cub who was tensing up the closer Hook got to the platform that was a perfect vantage point to shoot the flying boy from, heard the faint flip flop of footsteps coming down the passage behind him. As quick as lightning he notched an arrow to his bow and aimed at the passage.
He narrowed his eyes as the footsteps got louder and drew the arrow even further. He was about to release when he saw the shining blue eyes of a particular girl. Her ash brown hair was a slightly wild from the wind and her eyes livid, the silver cutlass that was in her hand waving dangerously around.
"Wendy." he breathed out, releasing the breath he didn't he was holding and lowering his bow, placing the arrow back in his quiver. "Wendy put that away before you poke my eye out."
Wendy's cheeks flushed red as she dropped her head bashfully, sheathing her sword into the woven belt that she had attached to her blue sleep shorts.
"Sorry." she mumbled out.
"Don't worry about it. Come over here." He turned away from her a returned to watching the scene below them from his crouching position.
"What's happening?" Wendy asked softly, crouching beside him. The archer just shrugged in response.
"Wonderful boy?" Hook called out.
"Yes!" Peter called out, his voice now his own once again, coated in laughter. "Do you give up?"
"YES!" Smee called.
"I am..."
Hook was now perfectly lined up in place to shoot Peter and uttered one word the same time as Wendy called out:
"History."
"PETER! LOOK OUT!"
Peter shot up from his laid position and laughed as the bullet missed him.
BANG
Smoke filled the cavern as a cannonball struck the statue that Peter was once laying on. With the distraction of Hook and Peter, White Cub failed to notice that more pirates had silently rowed into the cavern with their smaller cannon 'Little Tom', and when White Cub did notice they had already lit the cannon.
"I think it's time for you to die boy." Hook snarled out, drawing his sword dangerously.
Peter laughed and charged at Hook, clashing their swords, and a hook, together with a loud clang.
"Ready to lose the other hand?" Peter sneered.
"Not this time." Hook growled, thus starting an epic duel, Peter nearly beheading Hook at one stage.
The band of pirates roared with laughter as they filed of the boats, brandishing their swords wildly. White Cub looked at Wendy who had already pulled her cutlass out and nodded, notching one of his own arrows to his bow.
He watched as she charged at a pirate that was running up to attack the two teenagers before returning his focus to the pirates below, taking each of them down with precise shot to the throat and heart.
Wendy charged head strong at the pirate coming towards them. He bared his yellow teeth and let out a humorous cackle. "Ya think ya can kill me li'tle girl?"
Rage boiled up in Wendy's stomach and she swung at the pirate with everything she had, remembering the time she had done fencing at school.
"I am no little girl." She spat out indignantly, "And I can easily kill you." and with that she sliced at his knee, causing him to drop to his knees, and held the tip of her sword to his throat, "But I'm better than that." Instead she knocked him over the back of his head with the pommel of the cutlass before running down to the main fight.
Michael, John and Tigerlilly were out of the water at this point, and were trying to find a safer place than where they were. Picking up a sword each from one of the dead pirates (courtesy of White Cub), Tigerlilly and Peter ran ahead of Michael unknowingly until they heard him give a loud yell. Spinning on his heel, John saw a fearful Michael back up against a stone wall with two old pirates advancing on him. One slashed at Michael who quickly held his teddy up to protect himself and gave a loud cry as its head was swiftly removed.
The pirates laughed and looked ready to attack again when John yelled out "Oi! Thats my brother!"
The pirates turned around and were quickly met with blade coming to each of them, who quickly defended themselves with a feeble lift of their swords. John sliced at his pirates arm and proceeded to push him into the water, while Tigerlilly was having a bit more trouble with her pirate. He had quickly disarmed the girl, as she was more used to using a bow and arrow and was continuing to attempt to strike her with sloppy blows, which she dodged not so easily, earning a scratch or two on her arm and face.
"That is no way to treat a lady!" John exclaimed forgetting his own sword and punching the pirate square in the jaw and pushing him into the water after his comrade.
Tigerlilly blushed and looked at John with awe.
"Are you alright?" He asked, concern glittering in his dark brown eyes. Tigerlilly nodded wordlessly but that did not ease the concern in Johns eyes. In fact he took a step forward and inspected her face. "Your bleeding." he stated, wiping the blood away from the scratch then lowering his hand once more.
Tigerlilly blushed even harder and then did something she never thought she'd do. She kissed him. She pulled at his shirt and slammed her lips onto his. To say he was shocked would be an understatement. John was beyond shocked. Even Tigerlilly was not entirely sure why she did it, but she will tell you to this day that she does not regret it in the slightest.
Pulling away she smiled shyly and now it was Johns turn to blush. His usually pale face turned beetroot and he just stared at the Indian Princess in a daze.
"Gross." Little Michael mumbled under his breath, clinging to the body of his beloved Teddy. Tigerlilly noticed the teddy's head a little bit away and picked it up, handing it to Michael who took it slowly.
"Thank you."
It was at that moment that Wendy ran up to the 3 children. "Hi guys." she laughed, still feeling the adrenaline from fighting the pirates. The boys looked at her like she had grown another head and looked at each other in concern. But the peace between them was quickly interrupted when a panicked Smee rowed pass them in his small boat spitting out a number of curses. The children all looked at each other before yelling out in unison, "GET THE BOAT!"
Smee shrieked a very unmanly shriek and jumped out of the boat himself, leaving the boat free for the children to take. They laughed and jumped into the boat with large smiles. Wendy looked over to where Peter was still fighting with Hook, her smile slowly falling down.
Peter was laughing flying around Hook, sometimes pulling his legs from underneath him. Finally Hook had had enough and grabbed the flying boy by the ankle pulling him back and into his chest.
"Ready?" The pirate sneered. "FIRE."
Hooks hurtled Peter away from him and a cannon was shot. The cannonball broke apart and from it came a net. Peter collided with the net as it wrapped itself around him like a snake. As soon as he was entwined within the net, gravity pulled him back down, the waters icy claws grasping his chest. His lungs started to burn from lack of oxygen as he tried to feel around for his dagger to cut himself free. His head started to feel heavy and his lungs felt like they had been set alight.
"Turn the boat around!" Wendy watched in horror as Peter fell from the air and into the dark water. Fear was hugging her heart and squeezed tighter with every second he was under. When he didn't come up after a minute she couldn't take it anymore.
"White Cub!" She screamed looking for the Indian archer. She found him shooting down any pirates that were still running around. His brown eyes shot to her wide blue ones as soon as he heard her scream. Looking around he counted everyone who was there and noticed Peter was nowhere to be seen, he wasn't even fighting Hook.
Looking back at Wendy he saw her staring down at the water before looking back up to him, her eyes pleading for him to understand. White Cub threw his bow down and tore his quiver from his shoulder, clutching his dagger and dived right into the water for the second time that night.
Pulling himself through the water he searched the watery depths for Peter and saw him weakly struggling for his knife. White Cub pushed himself to go faster as Peters struggle became weaker and weaker. Peter had stopped moving by the time White Cub got to him and the Indian savagely cut the ropes as fast as he could. No matter his hate for the flying boy, White cub would not let this boy drown under the hand of Hook.
Once Peter was free, White Cub grabbed him and kicked furiously to the surface, his own lungs were now starting to burn. AS soon as their heads reached the surface, both boys gasped with relief and filled their lungs with the sweet stuff.
White Cub lifted himself onto the rock first, Peter right behind him.
WHACK
Something heavy and sharp collided with White Cubs' temple and he collapsed onto the hard ground just as Peter pulled himself up. Peter looked at the Indian boy with wide eyes before looking up to meet the gaze of his attacker, already knowing who it was.
Hook grinned menacingly before grasping onto Peters neck and lifting the boy up. Peter kicked at Hooks stomach causing the pirate to drop him with a string of curses. Peter took this time to draw his dagger and attack Hook. But the pirate had already recovered and countered Peters attack with his own, forcing the young boy into a jagged rock and knocking the dagger out of his hand. Hook lifted his metal appendage and brought it down on Peter. Peter quickly grabbed the Hook as it was about to hit his chest and tried pulling it away, but Hook was stronger-mind you, Peter was still recovering from almost drowning-and continued to press his hook into Peters chest, dragging it down the skin drawing blood.
Peter let out a painful yell. "Ready to die Peter?" Hook sneered.
"To die... would be an awfully big adventure." He ground out through gritted teeth.
Hook growled and lifted his Hook high to give the final blow, the one that will finally mark his revenge, but was stopped by an all too familiar sound, one that haunted his nightmares every night.
Tick Tock
Tick Tock
Tick Tock
Hook froze in fear Peter grinned a gleeful grin. "Oh no."
Hook shot up and looked outside the entrance hole, which was getting smaller with every minute as the tide rose, and was confronted with his nightmare. The Ticking Crocodile.
He looked to what remained of his crew, and saw that they shaking with fear as ticking grew louder. The crocodile slid of its large rock and swam into the destructed fort
"Well don't just stand there! Shoot the bloody thing!"
The crew snapped out of their trance like state but instead of following their captains orders, the bolted. Some running around the stone walkways searching for an alternate exit, some stupidly jumping in the water and trying to swim for it.
Hook let out an angered roar and turned to strike Peter but he was gone, as was the Indian boy that he had hit with a sharp rock that had been lying around.
"Hey Hook!" He heard the boyish voice of Peter call out. His head shot to the direction of the sound and saw that Peter and all the other children were in one of his small boats. Peter falsely saluted Peter as the short boat rowed out of sight.
Hook only just jumped out of the way in time as the crocodile lunged at him from under the water. He ran up a one of the paths to where the water would not rise to and stayed there. He thought he was safe until a large set of jaw snapped from right next to him. He looked to see that the crocodile was jumping up from the water, nearly taking Hook in its great big jaws. Hook knew he was trapped, and knew there was only one thing to do.
"SMEE!"
Now Smee, who was one of the fortunate ones to find one of the paths that lead to higher ground, was huddled with three of his crew mates. He heard his captain calling his name over and over, but knew it was a stupid move to try to rescue him now.
"It all a bi' tragic in'nit'?"
One of the pirates just snorted.
"Ironic if ya ask me."
