"Yes." Jade stated, looking over to Dave and Rose's surprised expressions. "He's hiding important files... This probably looks bad, doesn't it?"
"It does." Rose looked back over to Doc Scratch," Was it really necessary to attack him? He had to have been close to saying something."
"I'll just have to sniff out the files." Jade took off, disappearing as her friends' voices reached her ears. She stood in the office, setting to work finding the files. It took awhile to realize they were under the floor, but then it was off to reading. "I knew something was missing..." Jade grumbled, flipping through. A few criminal files were tucked in the back, along with newspaper clippings. When Jade pulled out the files, she found more on the bottom of the box,"Well, what do we have here?" The files were pulled open, Jade's eyes narrowing. "He... Grrrrrrrrrrr..."

"What do you mean?" Jake asked confused.
John sighed," Jade is really hostile right now. For all we know she probably killed Doc Scratch and is off after someone else. It's not really her, it's like being taken by the dark side; she isn't making the best of choices."
Dirk looked around. "Maybe we can find her before it gets worse."
Jake hugged Dirk," Great idea! We could find Jade." Jake fell asleep, completely exhausted.
John picked up Jake before standing up,"Let's go. Do you know where to go Dirk?"
"I think I know the way." Dirk lead the way down the hall.

Rose and Dave stared at Doc Scratch. He was unconscious, suit turning red from the blood puddle he was laying in. "I think we showed up late." Rose mumbled.
"Just a little late." Dave replied, looking back over to the floor. "Good thing she didn't kill anyone, right?" Silence. "Right? Please answer yes."
"I can't actually." Rose and Dave stood in silence. A flash of green and a growling Jade stood there, glaring at Doc Scratch.
"You sick puppet!" Jade threw Scratch back against the wall, a loud crack sounding before Scratch fell crumpled to the ground.
Scratch's face looked up, grinning as he sat up," Oh really? What makes you think this?"
"Because you're literally a puppet; a sick, twisted, demented puppet!" Jade kicked Scratch, knocking him over. "How could you do that to John!? And Jane, and Feferi and Nepeta and Equius and Tavros!" Jade grabbed Doc Scratch's shirt collar, yanking him off the floor," Just for your stupid puppeteer? Is this a game to you?!"
"More a puzzle really. Sadly, I'm still missing pieces. Care to fill in the blanks?" Doc Scratch smiled before pulling something out of his coat pocket and jamming it into Jade's neck. Rose and Dave rushed forward only for things to go black.

"Jade? Jade?" John called down the hall. He stopped noticing an open door and blood smeared all over the hall. "Uh... I think she escaped." John lead the kids out the door and up the stairs. He stopped when he almost tripped over a box full of clothes and files. "Wha..." John looked through the box, noticing his own clothes. "Can someone hold Jake?" John gently placed Jake in Dirk's arms before grabbing the box," Alright, let's keep going." John continued leading the kids up the steps. John opened the iron door, stopping once he spotted Karkat.
"Karkat, Jake passed out." Dirk walked over to Karkat.
"Dirk, what are you doing?" John whispered.
"Did you see Rose or Dave or Jade?" Karkat asked," Rose and Dave are looking for you guys down there."
"Jade went all dark werewolf and killed everyone who attacked us then went after Doc Scratch after saving Jane. We found John though, but then Jake fell asleep." Dirk sighed," Oh, and we all have powers."
John watched speechless. Karkat checked over Jake," That can't be good. We have to stop Scratch and find the others. He could have captured them by now and dragged them off to... Not even think of it! You're all okay, right?"
John walked forward," You're working with us?"
"Yes Egbert, all the staff from Project BETA, minus Scratch, wanted to help. Are you alright John? What happened?" Karkat asked.
John felt a shiver run up his spine. "I don't want to talk about it."
Karkat looked upset a moment before turning his attention to the box at John's feet. "Another box?" Karkat put Jake on a blanket in the truck trailer before going over and bringing the box in," Terezi and Sollux, can you go look for the other three kids?" Terezi and Sollux left, heading into the building. "Let's see..." Karkat started scanning over the files, pulling the clothes out of the box and setting them aside before continuing.
"Are you even reading them?" John laughed as Karkat flipped through the files rather quickly.
"Yes actually. All twelve of us in the staff gained abilities, mine are languages and memory." John snickered before Karkat glared at him," Yeah, I know it's a stupid ability, but it still puts me at risk along with everyone else!" Karkat paused when he opened a file. He looked up, horrified," I'm so sorry John."
John snatched it, looking at the file before freezing at the bloody photos as Karkat quickly shut the file. "Tha... That's..." John rested his head on his knees, stomach reeling. The memories flooded in around him, voices lingering in his ears he knew weren't there. His arms wrapped around his chest, feeling completely helpless, trapped in a past moment.

Doc Scratch whistled as he continued down the tunnel. He may have lost the Alpha experiments, but he now had the remainder of the Beta group. Sure he hadn't gotten through all the experiments he had planned for John, but he had gotten through most of them. Fortunately he had planned ahead and another lab would soon be up, running and ready to go by the time he got there. The casualties were unfortunate, but in the end it pays off to be a living puppet following orders.
His gaze fell on the unconscious children, blockers and restraints in place to keep them under control. Carrying tranquilizers had to be one of the best ideas yet, but he was pulled from his thoughts by Fin. "Boss, that kid with the pointy shades actually destroyed some people. Itchy, Doze, Crowbar, Eggs, Biscuit and Quarters along with several of the extra recruits, gone."
"Who cares about the recruits, how did he kill our numbers?" Doc Scratch questioned.
"He pulls them out of their bodies! If anyone else had been there they surely would have died!" Clover exclaimed in surprise.
"I think we underestimated our dear friends." Doc Scratch stated coldly.
