With Hayden helping him, Yusei is able to stumble to the entrance of the cave. When they get to the bushes, Yusei tenses. He hasn't been outside in over a week. The sun is setting, which should work in their favor. After a moment, Yusei finally begins the trek outside.

It takes them a while, but they finally reach Hayden's house. By that time Yusei is able to move without assistance. Hayden walks up to the door with Yusei following him and walks inside. The air inside is filled with the scents of cooking food. Hayden's mom is making dinner.

"Mom! I'm home!" calls Hayden.

She walks out of the kitchen and sees Yusei. She gives a tiny gasp, as Yusei looks thinner than he should be. She points at him.

"You, in the kitchen, now." She turns and walks back into the kitchen.

This startles Yusei. It also makes his heart ache a bit, as it reminds him of Martha. He looks skeptically at Hayden, who nods encouragingly. Yusei raises an eyebrow then cautiously walks into the kitchen, Hayden close on his heels. Hayden's mother is placing food on the table. Hayden excitedly plops down into one of the chairs, but Yusei remains standing, unsure of what to do. Hayden's mom notices, stops what she is doing, and walks over to him. She places a hand on his shoulder and steers him to an empty chair. Yusei sits, but he is still on edge. She quickly finishes setting out the food then sits down herself.

"It ok, eat something."

Just then, Yusei's stomach grumbles. He tentatively takes a bite, then, unable to help himself, starts eating in earnest. Soon the meal is finished and Yusei is feeling better than he has for weeks. He looks up at the kind people he has met.

"Thank you."

Afterwards, Hayden's mom has Yusei sleep on the couch. He stays for a couple of days, recovering from his time trapped in the cave. By the third day he is feeling almost good as new. As good as feels, however, he knows it's only a matter of time before he gets caught. So, for the next few nights, he sneaks out, searching for another place to stay. On the fifth night of searching, he explores another cliff on the mountain. While he takes a short rest, he notices a small cleft, just large enough for a person. He gets up and walks over to the opening and sticks his head in. It seems to be the opening of a tunnel. Cautiously, Yusei begins following it. After a few turns, the tunnel widens. Yusei is stunned. Inside is a gigantic cavern, ten times the size of the cave he had stayed in. He has found a new safe haven.
