A/N: Here it is, the last chapter. I hope you've enjoyed reading it. Thank you for all the wonderful reviews. Hope you like this chapter too. Maybe one day i'll do a sequel.
Melissa and Eric looked around and saw the doctors and nurses running to one of the beds. They watched to see what was happening. The parents were holding each other half crying. Melissa hoped she didn't have to go through something like that with the girls. After a while the baby seemed to be doing okay. Melissa and Eric were glad their babies were doing so well. Hetty had given Eric a couple days off so he could be with Melissa and their daughters.
Melissa's doctor came around in the afternoon and told her she could go home. Melissa was glad that she was going home but she didn't like leaving the babies in the hospital.
Eric and Melissa stayed till 8pm before going home. Melissa fed the girls one more time before going home.
"Don't worry, we'll take good care of your babies here," the nurse told them.
"Please call us if something's wrong."
"Of course we will do that."
"Do you know when we can take them home?" Melissa asked.
"I'd have to check that with the doctor. But they are doing very well so I think it will be soon."
"Good. See you tomorrow."
"See you."
They went to grab Melissa's stuff from her room before going home.
"Mom," Finley called as he ran up to her when Melissa and Eric walked into the house.
"Hey sweetie, I'm glad to see you again."
"I'm glad to see you too mom. Where are my sisters?" Finley asked when he didn't see the babies.
"They have to stay in the hospital a little longer, but don't worry, they are doing very well."
"When can they come home?"
"I don't know. I hope soon."
"Me too."
Melissa was pretty tired so she went to bed around 10pm. Eric joined her.
"I'm glad you're home again," Eric told her as he pulled her in for a hug.
"Me too. But I miss the girls."
"Me too. I promise we'll go back to the hospital first thing in the morning."
"Good. I hope we can bring them home soon."
"Me too. But I'm glad you three are alright."
"Me too. It scared the hell out of me when my water already broke."
"Yeah me too. But everything is fine. The babies are doing very well. And I love you very much."
"I love you too."
They gave each other a kiss and fell asleep in each other's arms.
In the middle of the night Melissa woke up. She got out to go the bathroom and wandered into the girls' bedroom on her way back. She looked at the empty cribs. She wondered if the girls were sleeping in the hospital. She missed them so much. She wanted to bring them home. She picked up the stuffed bears Finley had picked out for his sisters. She held the bears and sat down in the rocking chair and the tears flowed over her cheeks after a while.
Eric woke up and he noticed Melissa wasn't in bed. He got up to find her and saw a little coming from the baby's room. He walked over to the room and saw Melissa crying in the chair.
"Hey honey, what's wrong?" Eric asked as he walked up to her.
"I miss the girls," Melissa cried.
"I know honey, me too," Eric replied as he grabbed her hands. "I miss them too. But before you know it we'll be able to take them home."
"I hope that's soon. It's difficult to leave them in the hospital."
"I know honey," Eric told her as he pulled her in for a hug. "I know it wasn't easy, but it's what's best for them at the moment."
"I know. But it's still hard."
"It is. Come one let's get back to bed."
Melissa took the two bears with her back the bedroom and put them on the top of the pillows.
"Can you hold me Eric?"
"Of course baby."
Melissa snuggled into Eric's arms and a little later she fell asleep.
The next morning they went back to the hospital and took Finley with them. He wanted to see his little sisters again.
"They are so cute," Finley told them as he stood over their cribs. "They are so small."
"Yes, that's because they are twins and they were born a bit too early."
"Will they be alright?"
"Yes, the doctor said they should be just fine."
Finley stroked Chloe's little hand with his finger and smiled when she tried to wrap her fingers around his finger. Eric took out his phone and made a picture of Finley with his little sister.
"Can I hold her mom?"
"Sure, sit down here." Finley sat down on the chair and Melissa picked up Chloe. "Hold your arms like this. Support her head and the other hand under her." Melissa placed Chloe in Finley's arm.
"She's heavier than I thought."
"Yes, she's growing very well already."
Eric took some more pictures of Finley with his little sisters. After a while Chloe started crying.
"I'm sure mom, I didn't mean the hurt her," Finley spoke, worried that he had hurt his little sister.
"It's okay sweetie, she's just hungry."
Melissa took Chloe from Finley and breastfed her.
…..
Eric and Melissa spent all their free time in the hospital with their little babies. Eric had returned to work a week after the twins had been born. Eric's parents had gone home a few days before.
"Good morning," Eric spoke when he walked into OPS.
"Good morning, Nell replied. "Welcome back. How are Melissa and the babies doing?"
"They are doing very well. The babies are still in the hospital but we can probably take them home within a week or two."
"That's good. I guess you must be looking forward to that."
"Yeah, I can't wait to bring them home. I miss them. And they are so cute."
"Yeah, I bet. How's Melissa?"
"She's doing very well. Still a bit tired sometimes, but good."
"Good, I'm really happy for you two."
"Thanks Nell."
Luckily today was a slow day so Eric could ease into work again.
"Hi, I'm home," Eric spoke when he walked into the house.
"Hey honey," Melissa called from the kitchen.
"Hey dad," Finley spoke from the couch where he was playing video games.
"Hey buddy." Eric walked to the kitchen and wrapped him arms around Melissa from behind. "Hey honey. I missed you today," Eric told her as he gave her a kiss.
"I missed you too."
"Mmmm, it's smells delicious here."
"It's almost done, can you set the table please?"
"Of course." Eric gave Melissa one more kiss before he went to set the table.
After dinner they went to the hospital with Finley to visit Chloe and Sofie.
….
Two weeks later they could bring the babies home. Eric had left work early so he could pick up Melissa and their daughters. Melissa was so happy that Chloe and Sofie were coming home. They thanked everyone at the NICU and loaded the babies into their car seats. Finley sat on the back seat in between his sisters. He was playing with them, tickling their tummies. Both babies smiled when he did that. Melissa and Eric were so happy that Finley loved his little sisters so much. Their family was perfect right now.
When they arrived home Melissa and Eric carried in the babies while Finley went to open the door for them.
"Surprise!" Their team members called when they walked in.
Melissa and Eric were surprised to see everyone there.
"What are you guys doing here?" Melissa asked surprised.
"We wanted to welcome these little babies home," Hetty told them.
"That's really sweet of you."
"Besides we wanted to see these little babies," Kensi spoke.
The team hadn't come around to visit them in the NICU since only family was allowed. Michelle and Sam's kids were there too.
Kensi and Nell were the first ones to move closer.
"Aw they are so cute," Nell spoke.
"They look really cute and they are growing very nice," Kensi spoke. The team had seen pictures of the little girls.
"Yes they do, they eat very well."
"That's good."
They sat down in the living room while Eric went to fetch everyone a drink. Melissa handed Kensi and Nell a baby.
"We've brought you something," Sam told her and he gave her a couple of presents.
"Thank you Sam," Melissa told him as he accepted the gifts.
She waited till Eric was back to open the presents. They got two matching pajamas, two stuffed bears and two cute little dresses.
"Aw these are really cute guys, thank you," Melissa said.
"Can I hold her?" Sam's daughter asked when Sam was holding Sofie.
"Sure sweetie. We can hold her together."
Sam pulled her up on his lap and together they held Sofie. They ordered pizza for everyone. Around 8pm everyone started leaving.
"You really have a cute family Mr. Beale, take good care of them," Hetty told Eric before she left.
"Thank you Hetty. Don't worry. I will."
Eric and Melissa put the babies in bed together. They watched over them as they lay in their cribs. They were so grateful that everything was alright with them and that they were finally home with them. They stood there watching them as they fell asleep.
"They are so cute," Melissa whispered.
"Yes they are," Eric whispered back.
They stood there for a while before going back downstairs. Eric sat down with Finley to do his homework before he had to go to bed.
Around 2am Eric and Melissa woke up by the girls crying.
"I'll go," Eric told her and gave her a soft kiss. "What's wrong sweeties?"
Eric picked the girls up and rocked them in his arms.
"I think you girls are hungry." He walked back to the bedroom with the two little girls in his arms. "I think we have two hungry girls."
Eric handed Chloe to Melissa and Melissa started breastfeeding her. Eric held a still crying Sofie.
"It's okay sweetie, mommy is just feeding your sister." Eric got her to suck on his finger. "You know honey, I could feed one of them two with a bottle."
"I like breastfeeding them."
"I know you do, but when they are both crying I could feed one of them or at night so you don't have to wake up every time."
At that moment Sofie starting crying again.
"Yeah, maybe it's a good idea. It's hard hearing them cry like that."
When Melissa was done feeding Chloe she handed her to Eric for burping while she fed Sofie.
"It's okay little girl, here you go," Melissa spoke to Sofie as she brought her to her breast. "They are two hungry little girls."
"Yes they are," Eric replied as he rubbed Chloe's back to burp her.
They lay together in bed once both babies had been fed and burped. Eric and Melissa looked down at the little girls lying in their arms, they were slowly falling asleep again. Melissa put her head down on Eric's shoulder and slowly she fell asleep too. Eric noticed that she had fallen asleep so he took the babies back to their cribs. He gave them a soft kiss before putting them in. He looked down on them and felt so blessed to have these two little girls with Melissa.
…
Just as Eric came home from work Chloe was crying. Melissa was feeding Sofie. Eric walked over to Chloe and picked her up.
"Hey, it's okay little girl. What's the matter? Are you hungry?" Eric spoke.
"There's a bottle in the fridge if you wanna feed her."
"Sure that's fine. You don't want to breastfeed her?"
"It's okay you can feed her, I've just started to feed Sofie so."
Eric went to the kitchen and warmed up the bottle.
"Test it on your hand to make sure it's not too hot," Melissa called to him.
Chloe was still crying in Eric's arms. "Shh baby, it's coming. It's almost warm."
Eric walked over to the couch and sat next to Melissa once the bottle was warm. He tested it on his hand and when he was sure it was not too warm he put the pacifier in Chloe's mouth. Chloe didn´t want the bottle at first but Eric kept the pacifier close to her mouth. Eventually she started sucking on it.
"There's a good girl."
"Is she taking the bottle?"
"Yes she is."
"Good. It was hard hearing her cry but I can only feed one at a time."
"It's a good thing than that I walked in."
"Yes it is."
Melissa put Sofie over her shoulder for burping. She looked at Eric and Chloe. Chloe seemed to be drinking really well.
"Did you put formula in these bottles?" Eric wanted to know.
"Nope, breast milk."
"But how?"
"I used a pump."
"Ah yeah, what you do when you're at work?"
"Yes, I have to do that every few hours."
Chloe drank the entire bottle before Eric put her over his shoulder for burping.
…
The girls were now 3 months old. They were really growing big. It was so cute to see Eric with the girls. It made Melissa miss the time she had spent with Finley as a baby and how she didn't have Eric back then. But everything was right now. They had a wonderful family.
Finley was spending the night at a friend's house, he had a birthday party.
The girls were asleep around 7.30pm. Melissa told Eric she was going to do some laundry so Eric walked downstairs.
A little later Melissa walked down the stairs.
"Eric, honey, can you maybe help me with something?" Melissa asked.
"Sure honey," Eric replied and turned around. His eyes nearly popped out of his head.
Melissa was dressed in a sexy night gown.
"Uhm, what do you need my help with?" Eric spoke, barely able to get the words out.
"Why don't you come upstairs with me and you'll find out," Melissa replied in a cheeky voice.
He didn't have to be told twice. He quickly followed Melissa back up the stairs. As soon as they were in their bedroom Eric kissed her. He walked them back until they fell down on the bed.
"Are you sure you wanna do this? I mean you're ready after you had the babies?" Eric asked before continuing.
"Yes I am. I'm ready to make love to you again. And since the girls are asleep now we have some time."
Eric kissed her again. "God I've missed you like this."
"I know me too."
Eric put her in the middle of the bed and pulled the straps of her gown down. He kissed her neck and chest, taking the fabric down with him. Melissa loved the attention Eric paid her body. She had missed this. Eric kissed her as his hand worked her body. She was almost there when Eric decided to stop.
"No fair," Melissa pouted.
"Don't worry honey, you'll feel better soon."
Eric sighed as he took his pants and boxers off. His shirt was already taken off previously. Before Melissa knew it Eric was sliding inside of her. It felt so good again. Since she was still on edge it didn't take her long. Eric kept his rhythm as Melissa reached her peak.
2 hours later they lay out of breath in each other's arms.
"Wow that was so good," Melissa uttered.
"Yeah it was. Damn I've missed this."
"Yeah me too. You were so good."
"You weren't so bad yourself."
Eric turned onto his side and Melissa did the same.
"I love you Melissa."
"I love you Eric."
They kissed. If it wasn't for the girls crying they would have made love again. Melissa quickly put her robe on and went to get the girls.
…
The girls were now 4 months old. They had really grown. They could sit up by themselves a bit. Melissa had gone back to work a month ago, but only 3 days a week. The 3 days she worked Melissa's mom came to babysit Chloe and Sofie. She loved her granddaughters. Finley loved his sisters very much too, he was really a good big brother. He always wanted to help and play with them. The girls were starting to babble a bit, not real words just babbling. But it was so cute.
Today was Melissa's day off. She woke up when Eric's alarm went off.
"Stay in bed a little longer honey, I'll feed the girls and then I'll put them back," Eric told her.
"Okay," Melissa replied still half asleep.
Eric got dressed and headed to wake up Finley.
"Finley, buddy, time to get up," Eric spoke as he walked in Finley's room.
"Alright dad," Finley replied still half asleep.
Eric went to get the girls. The girls were already awake and Chloe was sitting up in her bed.
"Good morning my little sweeties." Chloe was begging to be held. She put her arms out towards Eric. Eric picked her up and gave her a little kiss. "Hey Chloe."
Eric changed her diaper and got her dressed in a cute pink dress with white thighs and a white jacket. He put her with her toys while he went to dress Sofie. He dressed Sofie the same but then in a red dress. He took the girls downstairs just as Finley came walking out of his room.
"You wanna help feed the girls?" Eric asked.
"Sure dad."
Eric put the girls in their chairs and got their food, yoghurt with berries mixed through. The girls loved that. Finley fed Sofie while Eric fed Chloe. They both finished their entire jar. Eric put the girls in their playpen for a while until he had to go.
20 minutes later Finley left for school. Just as Finley left Melissa came down the stairs.
"Hey honey," Melissa spoke as she walked into the kitchen.
"Hey honey, I thought you were staying in bed."
"I couldn't sleep anymore."
"Ah okay, the girls have been fed already."
"Great thanks."
"I've gotta get to work, I'll see you later."
"See you honey." Melissa gave him a kiss.
"Bye my little sweeties," Eric spoke and gave both Chloe and Sofie a little kiss.
Melissa fixed herself some breakfast and sat watching her two little girls playing. It was a beautiful fall day so she took the girls outside in the stroller. She walked to the grocery store and did some shopping for tonight's dinner.
When she got back home she put the girls down for their naps. Around 2pm Finley came home from school.
"Hey mom," Finley called as he walked in.
"Hey sweetie, how was school?"
"Good. Got an A for math."
"That's very good."
"Where are Chloe and Sofie?"
"They are upstairs taking a nap."
"Can I go wake them?"
"No, not yet."
"Oh okay."
The doorbell rang and one of Finley's friends asked him to come play outside. Finley went outside and they played in the playground near their house.
….
A week later Finley had a week off from school. Eric and Melissa both took a week off. They were going to San Francisco. They would spend the week with Eric's parents. Eric and Melissa were a bit afraid of how the girls would do during the flight. They had the front bench so they had extra room to put the girls on the floor. Eric held Chloe and Melissa held Sofie during takeoff. Once the fasten seatbelt sign was off Eric and Melissa put the girls on the play mats on the ground. Finley sat down next to them and played with them. Melissa and Eric smiled as they watched Finley play with his little sisters. They flight was only about an hour long so before they knew it they were in San Francisco. They grabbed the strollers as they exited the plane and went to baggage claim. Eric and Finley grabbed their bags as Melissa waited with the girls. They went to the exit. As soon as Finley saw his grandparents he ran up to them.
"Hey Finley," Kersten greeted her grandson.
"Hey grandma."
Eric and Melissa caught up to him and greeted Eric's parents.
"Oh my, they've grown," Kersten spoke as she looked at Chloe and Sofie.
"Yes they have. They are growing really fast."
"Well that's good."
They walked to the car and Jack drover them to their place. Eric and Melissa would stay there during their visit. When they arrived Eric and Jack took their stuff upstairs while Melissa got Chloe and Sofie settled.
"How are they doing?" Kersten asked.
"They are doing very well. They eat well and sleep through the nights now. And Finley just loves his little sisters."
"That's good. I still can't believe it. We went from having no grandkids to 3 grandkids in like a year."
"Yeah I know, I'm glad you're a part of Finley's life now too."
"He's a great kid, he reminds me a lot of Eric at that age."
"Yeah, Eric said he looks a lot like him at that age."
"Yeah he does."
"I'm glad he got to know Eric. He really loves his father."
"Yeah and I can see Eric loves Finley too."
"Yeah he does very much. He's a great father, not just to Finley but to Chloe and Sofie as well."
Once the stuff had been brought upstairs Jack took Eric and Finley to his surf shop. Melissa stayed home with the girls and Kersten.
"Wow grandpa, this is awesome. Look at all these boards dad," Finley spoke in amazement.
"I've got one here, I was saving it for when you'd come out here," Jack spoke as she went to the back to get a board.
He came back with a kid's board and handed it to Finley.
"Wow this is cool grandpa, this is really nice." The board was painted with Finley surfing on top of a wave. "Thanks grandpa this is awesome."
"You're welcome bud and you can use it whenever you come out here so you don't have to bring your own board.
"Thanks grandpa. Dad can we go surfing now? I wanna try my new board."
"Sure." Eric had taken their surf gear with them just in case.
The three of them changed into their surf gear and went to the beach. It was just a short walk. The surf shop was located next to the beach. The waves weren't too big so it was perfect for Finley. The three of them peddled out into the ocean.
"He reminds me a lot of you at this age," Jack told his son. "You were crazy about surfing too."
"Yeah I know. He really takes after me."
They stayed on the beach for about an hour before going back home.
"Look mom, I got this from grandpa," Finley proudly showed Melissa his new board.
"That's awesome. Did you thank grandpa yet?"
"Yes I did. He said I could use this here to go surfing so I don't have to bring me own board."
"That's very nice. I see you already surfed."
"Yes I did, it was awesome."
Kersten and Melissa went to put the girls in bed around 7pm. They had already set up the travel beds in one of the rooms.
"They are really cute," Kersten spoke as she was dressing Chloe.
"Yeah that they are. I'm glad everything turned out okay."
"Yeah, it scared me when Eric called to say you were already in labor."
"Yeah, it scared us too. I was so happy when we finally could take them home."
"Yeah I bet. I'm really glad you and Eric got back together again, you were right for each other."
"Yeah me too, we're really happy and we're really grateful to have these 3 wonderful kids."
They put the kids in their beds and turned on the music mobiles. Melissa took the baby monitor downstairs.
…..
They were having a lot of fun with Eric's parents. The girls really behaved well during their first trip. They went for a drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. They went to Twin Peaks, the view of the city was magnificent.
"Grandma, where is your house?" Finley asked.
"Right over there," Kersten replied as she pointed to a direction.
They took a trip to Fisherman's Wharf and took a walk down Pier 39.
"Look mom," Finley pointed to a group of Sea Lions lying on one of the floating pontoons. "Mom, what that's there?" Finley pointed to a big rock out in the ocean.
"That's Alcatraz. It's was a maximum security prison," Melissa informed him.
"Can we go see it?"
"Yes, we're planning that later on."
They sat down to eat lunch in one of the cafés and after that they took the boat to Alcatraz. Finley was looking all over the place. He loved it.
"Dad, why did they build is so far out into the ocean?"
"In this prison very bad people were held. They built it this far from shore so it was impossible for anyone to escape."
"Did someone escape?"
"3 prisoners tried but no one knows if they ever made it to shore. It is believed that they drowned," the guide told him, overhearing the conversation. "Shortly after that the prison was closed and later it was turned into a museum."
"Who were in here?"
"Mostly people who committed very bad things, like kill multiple people, stuff like that."
Finley bought a statue of Alcatraz on the rock. After the tour they took the boat back to shore. When they were back at shore they went to Chinatown.
"This looks so different than the rest of the city," Finley spoke.
"That's because this is Chinatown," Kersten informed him.
"What's Chinatown?"
"That's a part of the city that is home to the Chinese people that live here so they made it look like it is in China. That's why it's called Chinatown."
"Why do they live her and not in China?"
"For very different reasons."
They strolled through the streets and looked in some of the gift shops. Melissa bought a beautiful hand crafted hand fan, some Chinese eating sticks and a Chinese robe, blue with a dragon on it. Finley got a beautiful Chinese dragon.
Around 6pm they sat down in one of the Chinese restaurants to eat dinner.
"Mom, where are my knife and fork?" Finley asked looking at the table.
"They don't eat with knives and forks in China. They eat with these sticks."
"How do they do that?"
Melissa showed Finley how to eat. Finley tried to eat with the sticks but it wasn't really working so one of the waiters gave him a knife and a fork.
"Thank you," Finley told him.
The food was really delicious. The girls fell asleep on the ride home. Eric and Melissa put them in their beds when they were back at home.
The next day they went to see Children's fairyland in Oakland. Finley loved it. Even the girls went on some of the rides with Melissa, Eric, Kersten or Jack. It was really nice. It was perfect for the kids. They stayed there till around 5pm before going back home. They stopped by McDonald's before going home. Melissa and Eric had brought a jar for Chloe and Sofie.
The last full day they were there they went to a swimming pool. Eric, Jack and Finley went swimming together. Finley loved going down the big slides. Kersten and Melissa took the girls in the pool in their floaters. They loved it. They tried to wiggle their legs to go forward. Melissa got out and grabbed her camera and took some pictures of the girls with their grandma. They girls had enough after a while so Kersten took them out and dried them off. They put them on their play mats in between them. Melissa went to look for Eric. She took her camera with her. She found them just coming down the slide.
"Hey guys," Melissa greeted them.
"Hey mom, it's awesome here."
"How are the girls?"
"They're fine. They loved being in the pool."
"Come on dad."
Finley pulled Eric to one of the slides with the inner tube. Melissa looked were the slide was ending and stood at the end waiting for them. Melissa saw them at the top of the stairs. Finley waved at her just before they went down. Melissa stood with her camera ready. When they came out Melissa snapped some pictures of them. She took some more pictures of other slides before going back to Kersten and the girls.
It was around 5pm when they went home. They ordered in pizza.
The next day Eric's parents dropped them off at the airport.
…
It was the girls first Christmas. They were now 6 months old. They had started to crawl a little bit. It was the day of Christmas Eve. Melissa's parents were coming over tonight. Eric was in the living room playing with the girls while Finley helped Melissa in the kitchen to prepare the Christmas dinner.
Eric sat on the other end of the table.
"Come on Chloe, come to dada," Eric spoke as Chloe started to crawl. Eric had the camera in his hand. After bouncing around Chloe started moving towards Eric. "Look honey, she's crawling."
Melissa looked over from the kitchen to see her little girl crawl towards Eric. At moments like these she was so felt so blessed to be a mother. Sofie saw her sister crawling and tried to crawl to. But she only bounced back and forth so she started crying. Eric put the camera away and went over to Sofie and picked her up.
"It's okay Sofie, you'll learn to crawl soon enough."
Eric fell down on the ground with Sofie in his arms and played airplane with her, bringing her down occasionally to blow on her tummy. Sofie laughed as Eric did that. Chloe crawled over to Eric and wanted to be held too. Eric put Sofie on the ground and picked Chloe up. He did the same with Chloe.
In the afternoon Eric put the girls down for their naps. After their naps he dressed them in matching red Christmas dresses. They looked so adorable. Eric, Finley and Melissa got dressed in their Christmas outfit too. They gathered around the Christmas tree. Melissa set the timer of the camera and quickly went to the rest. Their first family Christmas picture.
Around 5pm Melissa's parents arrived. Dinner was lovely. Mary and Melissa brought the girls to bed, Finley could stay up a little later. Finley was playing a board game with his grandpa. Mary brought him to bed a little later and read him a Christmas story.
Melissa's parents spent the night so they could be there in the morning for the presents.
"I'm really enjoying Christmas since we've got together again. Last year was really nice with you telling me you were pregnant and this year was the girls first Christmas. It was perfect," Eric told Melissa when they were in bed.
"Yes, it was perfect. I love spending Christmas with you and our kids."
"And I love you," Eric told her as he gave her a kiss.
"I love you too."
The next morning Finley stormed into their room bright and early. It was only 8am. Finley was too excited to go to sleep so they all went downstairs. Finley went to wake his grandparents while Eric and Melissa got the girls. They all sat around the Christmas tree. There were a lot of packages under the tree. Chloe was sitting on Eric's lap and Sofie on Melissa's.
Finley picked up the presents and read the name tags. They all got wonderful presents. Eric loved to see the smiles on his kids' faces. This moment was perfect.
….
It was the girls first birthday. They had really grown big. They had started walking a bit, just at someone's hand. Eric's and Melissa's family were there and the rest of the OSP team. Michelle and Sam's kids were there too. Finley loved to play with Sam's son. Melissa brought in the birthday cake as everybody sang happy birthday. It was a nice big cake. Chloe and Sofie blew out the candles with the help of Eric and Melissa. Melissa cut the cake and handed everyone a piece. The girls enjoyed their cakes but they were a bit messy. Luckily there were wearing aprons. Melissa cleaned their faces and pulled them out of their chairs. Sam's daughter played with them. It was a beautiful summer day so everyone was outside. Eric manned the barbecued. By 8pm everyone had left. Eric and Melissa put the girls in bath before taking them to bed.
"I can't believe that they are already a year old," Melissa spoke.
"Yeah me neither. It seems like just yesterday they were born."
"Dada," Chloe spoke as Eric held her.
Eric's face lit up. "Did you hear that honey?"
"Yes, she said dada. Can you say dada too Sofie? Say dada."
"Dada," Sofie spoke.
"That's a good girl." Melissa gave her a kiss.
"It's so nice to hear them say that."
"Yes, their first word."
They put the girls in their beds and watched as the fell asleep almost immediately. Their little girls were now a year old.
The end. Hope you liked it. Thank you for reading and reviewing
