We all go as a team 21

The thirteen year old Samurai was completely and totally miserable. She could barely think straight with all that was going on replaying in her head. The fight with John, Paula still in recovery, Abby still depressed, the little fight with John, the river, that night in the hospital, and now this? She buried her face in her knees and sighed.

"Oh, come now," the voice spoke again, but this time not in her head, "was running really needed?"

Suddenly, the owner of the voice stepped out the shadows. He was none other than the Nilock who'd been making her so paranoid earlier and given her the feeling of something big happened. (See Chapter 9.)

"That was you talking to me?" she felt really stupid now, "Nilock scum, I can't believe I let you trick me." She rose on jelly legs, fumbling for her samuraizer.

'Now, now, no need to panic," he took a step forward, making her stumble backwards, "I'm a friend."

"Yes, because friends just go and destroy town and try to take innocent lifes," she glared daggers at him.

"Well, I wouldn't be a Nilock if I didn't do some kind of damage," he pointed out, "anyway, would I give you the truth if I didn't care?"

"It's a trick, isn't it?"

"If I wasn't a Nilock, would you trust me?" he countered, and she didn't say anything, "that's what I thought."

She pressed her back against the tree and slid down, burying her face once more into her knees. Even in his presence, she felt very alone now. Everything was wrong, that's all it'd been recently. Tears pricked in her big blues as she shook a little in the cold.

"Now, calm down," he knelt down to her, taking her chin and tilting it up, "no need for the tears."

One slid down, and he swiped it away. She didn't even mind that it left a little scratch on her cheek. His touch was somewhat gentle, and her emotions overcame her.

"Well, this is boring," Derik commented. The two were still in his room, having been grounded by John.

"This sucks," she grumbled, finally getting fed up with their leader, "he sucks."

He grinned and high fived her, laughing, "There you go! Now how does it feel?"

"Feel to do what?"

"Rebel,"

"It feels…" her eyes got all shiny, "awesome."

"Alright. Want to keep that?" he grinned evilly.

To respond, she kicked the window, making it shatter. Both of them then dashed out, ready to have fun…in a whole new way.
