So there was good news and bad news. The good news was that the birth went well without complications and Jordan gave birth to boy named Anthony George Sawyer. The bad news was that she obviously wasn't able to go to Nashville with us. It was rather lucky that Bailey showed up when she did because if she hadn't, we would be screwed.
It was Monday at 7:00 AM and we were preparing to head off. It had been too late to get plane tickets and we leaving early so we would have time to practice and also explore the city. It was important because most of the club didn't have the travel experience that I did and I also had never been to Tennessee.
I saw that Edmund was taking to Jordan on the phone. I was glad that we had rented a tour bus instead of using a school bus. It just looked cooler. At the rate we were going, we would get there around lunch after gaining an hour.
Once we arrived, Mom decided to have us meet before we went to lunch. It was important, even though a lot of us were very hungry at that point.
"So before we eat, I just want to let you know that I have decided on the set list." She replied. "We will be starting off with Bailey singing 'Boom Clap' by Charli XCX, followed by Edmund and Liam singing 'Hall of Fame' by The Script, and finally we will be closing out with Beth singing 'Let It Go' from Frozen."
Well that was definitely a tall task for me. I had to sing a song that my sister blew out of the park on Broadway. Once everyone was gone, I realized that I needed to talk to her about it.
"Are you sure that I should do this?" I asked her.
"Are you?" She challenged. "If you don't think that you can handle this, you need to tell me."
"I can handle it." I declared confidently before I went to meet Marissa outside.
"So I just found out who one of the judges is." She responded. "You're going to love it because Lucy Evans is here."
"Oh my God, oh my God." I babbled. Now I was kind of nervous about singing in front of my favorite author. I couldn't help but wonder if I would get a chance to meet her.
"Beth?" A voice interrupted me. I knew that voice. I looked and saw Ashley Edwards, my best friend and the girl that I had had a crush on when I lived in Arizona. "What are you doing here?"
"I could ask you the same thing." I replied as I gave her a hug. I then remembered that we weren't alone. "This is my girlfriend, Marissa."
"I always knew that you liked girls." Ashley responded. "I'm here for the show choir competition."
"Really? We are too." I explained. That was quite a coincidence, especially since they didn't even have a show choir last year.
"So it was good to see you, but I need to go." I told her.
So that night, Marissa and I were getting ready for a date. My mom told me that I could have my own room, but Marissa couldn't stay in it. I decided to practice my song as the first thing.
The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, not a footprint to be seen
A kingdom of isolation and it looks like I'm the queen
The wind is howling like this swirling storm inside
Couldn't keep it in, heaven knows I tried
Don't let them in, don't let them see, be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel don't let them know, well now they know
Let it go, let it go, can't hold it back anymore
Let it go, let it go turn away and slam the door
I don't care what they're going to say
Let the storm rage on, the cold never bothered me anyway
It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small
And the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all
It's time to see what I can do, to test the limits and break through
No right, no wrong, no rules for me, I'm free
Let it go, let it go I'm one with the wind and sky
Let it go, let it go you'll never see me cry
Here I stand and here I'll stay
Let the storm rage on
My power flurries through the air and to the ground
My soul is spiraling in frozen fractals, all around
And one thought crystalizes like an icy blast
I'm never going back, the past is in the past
Let it go, let it go and I'll rise like the break of dawn
Let it go, let it go that perfect girl is gone
Here I stand in the light of the day
Let the storm rage on, the cold never bothered me anyway
I was just about ready to go and meet Marissa when I got a call from Hunter.
"I have your mother's name." He told me. "Her name is Quinn Fabray. I don't know where she is now, but I have it."
I decided to look up things on my computer. I found that she was valedictorian of McKinley Class of 2012 which happened to be the same year that she nearly died in car accident. Her father was Russel Fabray and her mother was Judy but they were divorced and she had an older sister named Frannie. There was still nothing about her current whereabouts. I ended up looking for hours and found nothing.
I was interrupted by a knock at my door. I opened it and saw Marissa in her dress with a frown on her face.
"Oh no." I replied as I realized that I lost track of time. "I'm so sorry. I wanted to come with you but I got a call from Hunter. He knows who my mom is."
"We had a date." She reminded me.
"Marissa, you know how important this is to me." I pointed out.
"I know. I just thought that I was more important." She stated. "I thought that the person who loves you was more important than some teenager who gave you up for adoption and might not even care about you!"
"I'm sorry. We can go somewhere now if you want." I offered.
"I think I'm just going to go to bed." She replied as she closed the door. I had really screwed up. I decided to give Hunter a call.
"So I don't want you to find out any more." I told him. "I'll pay you for the work that you did. I'm sorry that I wasted your time."
"Why are you backing out?" He questioned.
"I just don't think that this is worth it anymore." I explained.
On the day of the competition, all of the girls were wearing blue dress with black bows around the waist and the guys were wearing suits with black shirts and matching black bowties. We were minutes away from the opening performance. Crawford Country Day was going to be performing first.
"Hey, Beth." Shiloh told me. "I just wanted to say that I hope that if we don't win, that your group does. I'm sorry for being such a bitch to you."
"What's bringing this on?" I asked her in confusion.
"One of the songs that we're performing is about letting go of rivalries and conflicts." She explained before the announcer called for her school. They headed onto the stage and began to sing their first song.
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
We were young and drinking in the part, there was nowhere else to go
And you said that you always had my back but how were we to know
That these are the days that bind you, together forever
And these little things that find you forever, forever
All this bad blood here won't you let it dry
It's been cold for years, won't you let it lie
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I don't wanna here about the bad blood anymore
I don't wanna hear you talk about it anymore
I don't wanna here about the bad blood anymore
I don't wanna hear you talk about it anymore
All this bad blood here won't you let it dry
It's been cold for years, won't you let it lie
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
We were the 10th group performing, just after Ashley's school. Marissa was still mad at me because she wouldn't even look at me. Bailey was the first one to head onto the stage. The third song included me playing a piano.
Boom, boom, boom, clap
You're picture perfect blue, sunbathing on the moon
Stars shining as your bones illuminate
First kiss just like a drug under your influence
You took me over you're the magic in my veins
This must be love
Boom clap the sound in my heart, the beat goes on and on and on and on
Boom clap you make me feel good come on to me come on to me now
Boom clap the sound in my heart, the beat goes on and on and on and on
Boom clap you make me feel good come on to me, come on to me now
You are the light and I will follow, you let me lose my shadow
You are the sun, a glowing halo, and you keep burning me up with all your love
Boom clap the sound in my heart, the beat goes on and on and on and on
Boom clap you make me feel good come on to me come on to me now
Boom clap the sound in my heart, the beat goes on and on and on and on
Boom clap you make me feel good come on to me, come on to me now
Boom clap the sound in my heart, the beat goes on and on and on and on
Boom clap you make me feel good come on to me come on to me now
Boom clap the sound in my heart, the beat goes on and on and on and on
Boom clap you make me feel good come on to me, come on to me now
The audience definitely seemed to have a good time listening to that. They were clapping along as she sang. Liam and Edmund began to sing the second song.
Yeah you can be the greatest, you can be the best,
You can be the King Kong banging on your chest
You can beat the world, you can beat the war
You can talk to God go banging on his door
You can throw your hands up, you can beat the clock
You can move a mountain, you can break rocks
You can be a master don't wait for luck
Dedicate yourself and you will find yourself…
Standing in the hall of fame and the world's gonna know your name
You can burn with the brightest flame and the world's gonna know your name
And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame
Be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, be a champion
Be students, be teachers, be politicians, be preachers
Be believers, be leaders, be astronauts, be champions, be truth seekers
Be students, be teachers, be politicians, be preachers
Be believers, be leaders, be astronauts, be champions,
Standing in the hall of fame and the world's gonna know your name
You can burn with the brightest flame and the world's gonna know your name
And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame
Be a champion, be a champion, be a champion, be a champion
And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame
After that, everyone cleared the stage and brought the piano out. I sat there for a second before I realized that I needed to show Marissa how much I cared. I began to play a different song that was always close to my heart.
There's nothing I could say to you, nothing I could ever do
To make you see what you mean to me
All the pain, the tears I cried, still you never said goodbye
And now I know how far you'd far go
I know I let you down, but it's not like that now
This time I'll never let you go
I will be all that you want
And get myself together
Cause you keep me from falling apart
All my life I'll be with you forever
And get you through the day
And make everything okay
Cause without you I can't sleep
I'm not gonna ever, ever let you leave
You're all I've got, you're all I want yeah
And without you I don't know what I'd do
I could never ever live a day without you
Here with me, do you see you're all I need
And I will be all that you want
And get myself together
Cause you keep me from falling apart
All my life I'll be with you forever
And get you through the day
And make everything okay
I will be all that you want
And get myself together
Cause you keep me from falling apart
All my life I'll be with you forever
And get you through the day
And make everything okay
There was total silence after I finished. That was until Lucy Evans stood up and gave me a round of applause and the rest of the crowd joined in.
"What was that?" My mom asked me when I came off stage.
"I'm sorry that I changed the song but I'm not sorry for what I sang." I told her. "I needed to sing that song so Marissa will know that I'm sorry and I love her."
"I do." Marissa interrupted as she gave me a kiss.
"I was going to say that that was the best that you've ever sounded." Mom stated. "I don't think that I could have planned that and it sounded like the crowd love it."
The judges loved it too. In fact, we ended winning the competition. I was getting ready to head back to the hotel when I was stopped by someone that I didn't expect to see. It was Lucy Evans.
"You sounded great up there Beth." She told me.
"How do you know my name?" I asked in surprise.
"You know if there was one thing that I always regretted it was choosing to give you up." She declared. Oh my God…Lucy was Quinn Fabray, my mom. I gave her a hug. "Tell your mom that I'm not trying to replace her okay. She loves you very much."
"You know I hired a PI to find you. I never thought that you would find me." I stated. "I should probably get going. I have to see my girlfriend, but I hope to see you again some time."
End of Season 1.
So Beth finally met her mother and she made things with Marissa right. Ashley is played by Danielle Campbell. The other songs are "Bad Blood" by Bastille, and "I Will Be" by Avril. I'm thinking about doing a second season. I will need new characters and some of the lesser used characters won't be returning. I'll need 4 guys, two of them gay and one girl. I'm undecided on whether it will be posted in this story or a new one. Please don't forget to review.
