All characters belong to E.L. James as do parts of their back stories. Some of the quotes belong to Nicholas Sparks due to the fact this is loosely based on The Notebook.

Two updates in less than 24 hours. I'm on a roll! And I ask that when you read my story please keep in mind that this is fanFICTION and you don't have to read if you don't want to. And to clear up a few things:

1) Steve and Elena were in a relationship of sorts. They were close. So now that she is no more her resources go to Steve.

2) I had said earlier that Leila working at Ever After would become important well here it is.

Chapter XIX

Aiden's POV

We've been at this for hours.

How could Steve had found her? Christian had security on everyone 24/7 since the whole Elena thing. We've been through the camera's here at Escala, at GEH, and at Ever After and we don't see Steve in any of them. The police won't help us because Ana hasn't been missing long enough and they say that she staged her death and faked that so what's to say she didn't stage this as well. That's what led to us being kicked out of the police station because Christian went all 'ahhhh rawwwwr' on them and cussed out ever officer in the joint. Not saying they didn't deserve it but I work there now after I officially signed my part of Ever After over to Jack Hyde. Now here we sit in Christian's study in Escala. Jason, Luke, Christian, me all on different laptops looking at the same footage hoping to find something. We are all startled and dare I say hopeful when the phone on Christian's desk rings.

"Grey." He snaps to the person on the other line. We can't hear what they're saying but his face goes white as a ghost. That obviously means it can't be anything good. "Yeah yeah I heard you Welch. Are you sure? Surely someone would have noticed I mean even Leila she's his assistant." He looks up toward the door and finishes his conversation with Welch. "LEILA ANN YOU GET IN HERE NOW!"

Leila runs to the door and looks at him. "What the fuck Christian? Middle naming me what's wrong?"

"Sit down and tell me all you know about Jack Hyde."

Wait what? Why does he want to know about Jack? What did Welch say? To be fair Leila looks as surprised as the rest of us.

"Um...he's my boss. He lives in Seattle. I don't know much sorry."

He nods. "What about people who have come to see him lately?"

She shakes her head. "Steve hasn't come to Ever After. I've been there everyday and I haven't seen him. I don't even know if or how they'd know each other."

"But they do Leila. Somehow they know each other and I doubt it's a coincidence that the same day Ana is taken Hyde clears out his bank account and Steve has now sold his house in Georgia to one of his damn neighbors."

So that's what Welch found out. I know Christian asked him to dig up everything on Steve and anyone who he was connected with but how is he connected to Jack. I open my laptop back up and start to do my own search. Jack is in his thirties. He was in and out of foster homes. He was never adopted. He was..."Christian." I look up to see him and everyone else staring at me. "I found the connection. He was in and out of different foster homes but never adopted. Two families started the process but for some reason it fell through."

"Okay I'm not seeing the connection Aiden. Who was it?"

I take a deep breath. "The Grey's. And the Lincoln's."

He opens and closes his mouth...a lot. "Grace and Carrick? And Elena and Linc?" I nod. "That means he could have looked up Elena while she was alive and found Steve."

"Yeah but it's your family Christian. Grace and Carrick."

He nods. "I'll give them a call. Keep searching please Aiden. I...we need to find her. There is no telling now what this is about."

I keep searching like he said. Jack is...wow he's had a colorful past. If I'd looked at his record before I would have never signed Ever After over to him. Damn this guy has numerous assault charges, robbery charges, you name it he's probably done it. Of course everything I'm finding I'm immediately sending to Christian because he's right. Now that Jack may be involved there is no telling what they want with Ana. I look up again from my spot on the floor now outside Christian's study across the hallway. He immediately called his parents over and they've been in there for damn near 2 hours now. What on earth could take this long? Finally the door opens and Grace walks out with Carrick and they join Jason and Luke in the living room right as Gail and Leila bring everyone a coffee. I shake my head when Leila looks at me and I walk inside Christian's office.

"What happened Christian?"

He doesn't look up from his hands. "They liked him. They wanted to adopt him. Then Grace said as they were leaving the foster home after visiting him for the third time I ran in the front yard holding one of the new puppies and was laughing. Grace said when she looked at me we connected more than her and Jack did and...she just knew. So they started the process over but this time to adopt me instead of Jack. They couldn't afford us both at the time since this was before Carrick got his law firm to where it is today and Grace became the well known pediatrician she is."

Wow. That's a lot to take in. "So this just got personal?"

He nods. "A whole lot more personal. I just hope and pray they don't notice Ana's baby bump before we find her." He runs his hands over his face. "What all did you find Aid?"

Christian's POV

I know Aiden is watching me like a hawk. Hell I would be too if I just found out what I did. My life has done basically a 180 in less than 24 fucking hours. I finally decided I needed some air before I really did go crazy looking at anymore information on Jack Hyde and Steve Morton. I'm leaning against the balcony when I feel my cell phone buzz in my pocket. I'm done getting my hopes up. Steve doesn't want a ransom he never has. He's always just wanted Ana. Jack...I have no clue what Jack wants but a ransom would have come long before this. I pull my phone out and unlock it to look at the text message I received.

I know you know about me now. I could have been in your shoes now Christian Grey. I've been watching...so has Ana. Keep looking because you will never find her unless we want you to. - Jack

I burst through the glass doors and the whole room looks at me. "He's been watching. The fuckers have been watching us ALL THE DAMN TIME!" I shove my phone first at Aiden then it makes it's way around the whole room. Jason, Luke, Prescott (Ana's security guard the second one since Luke will now be her number one guard), Gail. Leila, Grace, Carrick, and back to me.

They all look stunned and Grace looks horrified. I know she loves Ana like a daughter and this has to be killing her. Not to mention Ana is carrying her first grandchild. I watch as Jason pulls up the Escala security footage on the big screen TV. We section it off and each take a section. Jason takes the lobby. I take the garage. Luke takes the floors. And Aiden takes the roof. I watch car after car. None look like they aren't supposed to be here. Nothing looks off until..."Fucking hell."

They all look at me and I put the frame front and center on the TV now. We all watch the Kia pull in and park in an assigned parking spot. First is someone who would normally look like Steve had he not changed his look so completely he's almost unrecognizable. Next I see Ana get out of the car but the Hyde fucker has his arm around her and the other hand is pointing at her stomach.

"Why the fuck didn't we catch this sooner Jason!" I yell at my own brother.

"It wasn't there. I went over it all over and over. It wasn't there until now. How the hell did he do that?"

All of a sudden Leila gasps and almost as if in slow motion we all look at her. "He talked to a security company."

"What do you mean Leila? Jason installed his own camera's here at Escala."

She looks me dead in the eye. "The outside too or just your penthouse?"

Shit. He didn't install the camera's outside the penthouse. I remember now telling him not to because I didn't think it'd be necessary to ever have unlimited access to those. Hell we had to hack into the camera's to get this footage. "He bought it didn't he Leila? He bought the security company?"

She shrugs. "I don't know. If he did it'd have to have been under the table.

Damn it. "He is literally in control."

I feel Leila put her hand on my shoulder and I look at her. "Yes but he's also dumb. Because now we know that they never left. They are somewhere here in Escala."

Anastasia's POV

I hate this.

I drove out to the lake house hoping for Christian to come after me either today or tomorrow and now I'm in a fucking basement apartment. Well technically a bedroom in a basement apartment. A very small bedroom.

I can only hope Christian got my clue I left him. I tried to fight Steve off but then he said something about not really wanting to hurt the baby with the fighting it caught me off guard so I stopped fighting for a minute then something was shoved in my arm and everything went black. That is until I woke up in the backseat sitting next to Jack Hyde who then told me a story about how the Grey's almost adopted him. I never would have believed him had it not been for that damn picture he showed me.

"Please Christian. Find me." I sigh as I sit on the small bed.

I never saw where they took me because they had me put some contacts in my eyes that ruined my vision. The only reason I've gone along with anything is because they keep threatening the baby. They haven't been down in a while and they haven't really done anything to me...yet. I can't help but add the yet.

Finally the door opens and Jack and Steve come in with a laptop. They shove it in my lap and I watch the screen. "Christian. Aiden." They are all looking for me. Everyone is looking for anything that could help lead to me. Have Christian and Aiden made up? Are they friends again now? I can't hear anything but I can't help but notice how Christian and Aiden are always staying close together, like brother or best friends. They are holding each other together. My subconscious tells me that and a part of me can't help but know she's right. Neither of them are stopping or breaking down because they are leaning on each other whether they know it or not.

"Grace, Carrick?"

I watch them come and talk to Christian for hours in his study. He looks...different. Holy hell they told him. They told him the same story Jack told me. Oh Christian I wish I could have been with you. I watch them leave and Aiden go in. The two of them talk and then Christian goes to the balcony. He..."You texted him?"

"Keep watching baby girl." I move in disgust at the name Steve calls me.

I see everyone read the text and then they all go crazy. Footage shows up on the TV then goes to different lap tops then back to the TV. Christian figures something out. I watch us arrive wherever we are and then he goes pale. Leila walks up to him and says something and the room goes crazy again. What the hell happened? Or what the hell is happening?

"What did I just watch?" I ask the two of them for clarification.

Steve sits next to me and puts his hand on my knee. I jerk away. "You just watched them find out where we are."

I nod. "I understood that much. Where exactly are we?"

Jack answers now. "Not just yet Ana. You see Steve may want you but I want revenge. Say hello for Christian." He snaps a picture of me holding the laptop and sitting next to Steve. He's going to send that to Christian? "That's the before picture. If you're dear fiancee wants an after picture he'll need to admit a couple of things and apologize to me."

"You can't seriously want him to apologize for they Grey's changing their minds? It wasn't his fault. He was like 8 or 9 years old. He didn't ask for it?"

He steps closer and yanks my head back by my hair and I yelp. "Maybe not but he still has everything that would be mine. Including you and that spawn. Now if he wants his family back before I start phase two and really put you where he can't find you he'll do as I say.

He lets go of my hair and I stare him down. "Where exactly am I now?"

He smiles an evil smile and looks at me before he shuts the door. "The best place to hide something is right under the other persons nose. They tend not to look there. Oh wait Ana, did you know Escala has a basement?"

Oh. My. God.

I'm at Escala.

Literally right under Christian's nose.
