Chapter 20

AN: Happy Fourth of July! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter! I'm sorry for any and all mistakes!
"Soooo…. We don't have a plan." Anna said slowly around a mouthful of turkey and cheese on wheat. They had been brainstorming in the kitchen for about two hours now. The two had come up with no solution as to how Elsa could be more active in her company. Weaselton had call at least four more times during their brainstorming session. Elsa sighed and laid her head on the island's countertop.
"..mrphi opdp mrop." Elsa mumbled out, head laying between her folding arms. Anna's eyebrows scrunched and she swallowed before speaking.
"What?" she asked incredulously. Elsa sighed again and lifted her head enough to speak.
"I said, this is useless." She then dropped her head back into her arms. Anna shook her head and was about to lay a comforting hand on Elsa's back when her phone rang. Anna looked at the screen and her eyes widened in excitement. Her cousin, Rapunzel, was trying to FaceTime with her. Anna squealed for the third time that day and jumped from her seat. Elsa's head instantly shot up, startled by the outburst.
"Wha-" she began but Anna quickly cut her off.
"Shhhh! Wait, I want you to meet someone!" the redhead said excitedly as she touched the phone to slide the answer button. After a few seconds of just seeing her own face a bubbly brunette's face popped up on her screen. Anna's smile faltered in surprise and once again her eyebrows scrunched together.
"Oh my- Punize, is that you?" she asked in bewilderment. The brunette on the other end nodded her head excitedly.
"Yep! I went for a new look!" The former blonde said then frowned at the look on her cousin's face.
"I wanted to go for something different. Do you like it? You don't like it. I knew I should ha-" The brunette began to ramble. Anna quickly cut her off with a smile.
"No, no, no, no! That's not it at all! It just surprised me. Your hair used to be super long and super blonde. And now it's super not. It's… different, in a good way!" she was quick to assure. The brunette on the other in let out a small sigh of relief.
"I'm glad you like it! So, what have you been up to, and wow, where are you?" Rapunzel asked as she saw Elsa's swanky kitchen in Anna's background. Anna began to smile and looked towards Elsa who had turned a little pale but didn't look like she was in risk of having a panic attack.
"I'm at a friend's house." Anna responded. "And it's awesome! She has like this really amazing kitchen and an awesome media room. There are parts I haven't even see yet! Plus, she owns the entire floor to herself." Anna said, bragging on Elsa. The blonde in question blushed and looked away. She heard the brunette on the other end let out gasps of amazement and ohhs and awws.
"Wow that sounds incredible! When did you get such affluent friends? I hope you don't get new on me when I come down to visit." Rapunzel joked. Anna's smile widened at her cousin's last statement.
"Wait, you're coming for a visit? When?" Anna asked excitedly. She hadn't seen her cousin in person in months and she missed the girl's company greatly. Anna frowned as she thought to ask the big question. "Is Gothel going to let you leave?" Rapunzel smiled wickedly and responded,
"I'm not coming until a month or two and what mother doesn't know won't hurt her. Besides!" she said excitedly. "I can start looking for apartments while I'm down there! I finally graduated you know, thanks for not coming to the ceremony by the way, and Corona University has offered me a full scholarship for their art program. I haven't told mother yet. And she… kinda sorta hasn't seen my new look…." Rapunzel said, trailing off with a nervous laugh. Anna's eyes once again widened, this time in alarm.
"You just now did this? Your mother doesn't know?!"
"…." Rapunzel remained silent. Anna sighed and shook her head.
"It really does look fantastic. But, you know how much your mother loved your hair. It was borderline creepy in my opinion." Anna said with a smile. Rapunzel smiled back.
"I know right? You know she'd still come in my room and brush my hair sometimes while making me sing that stupid song. Mother just doesn't know how to treat me like the young, sophisticate lady I am." She said the last part in a false upper class accent. Anna laughed at that and rolled her eyes.
"Yeah, sophisticated young lady, says the girl with a lizard as her pet." He redhead replied, still snickering.
"Hey! Pascal is a chameleon, not a lizard. We take offense, don't we sweetheart?" Rapunzel said, holding the little creature in her hands and stroking its scales. Pascal cuddled closer in her embrace and Anna could have sworn it suck it's tongue out at her.
"Anyway, are you going to introduce me to your wealthy mute friend or not?" Rapunzel joked. Anna looked over at Elsa and smiled.
"Just one second." She told her cousin as she sat the phone down and made her way over to Elsa.
"Well?" she asked hesitantly. "Do you want to talk to her?" Elsa stared at the phone laying innocently on the counter and then back at the encouraging smile on Anna's face. The blonde had been content to just listen to the back and forth banter between the cousins. She wasn't prepared for this. She felt Anna grab her hand and pull her back towards the kitchen. The redhead leaned over and whispered in her ear.
"Baby steps, remember?" Elsa stood there for a moment and thought about it. It wasn't like the girl could touch her through the phone. Elsa was just nervous about actually talking to someone new. She hadn't done that since she met Anna. After a long pause, the blonde closed her eyes and sighed. She made her decision. Slowly she nodded her head and was rewarded with a beaming smiled form the other woman.
"Umm, helloooo? What's taking you guys so long? I've been staring at this incredibly nice ceiling for forever." They heard Rapunzel say loudly over the speakers. Anna shook her head at her cousin and quickly snatched the phone up.
"Okay Punz, this is my best friend-"
"Excuse me?" Rapunzel interrupted her with a raised eyebrow. Anna rolled her eyes.
"You're my cousin, we're more than best friends. Anyway, like I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted. This is my best friend, Elsa Frost. Yes the Elsa Frost, heir to Frost Industries I might add." Anna said smugly, though it was clear that she was joking. Elsa blushed brightly and shakily took the phone from Anna's outstretched hand.
"Holly shit! You're like, super pretty!" Anna heard Rapunzel say through the speakers. The redhead face palmed and shook her head. How quickly she forgot that Rapunzel had zero tact. Elsa's blush brightened ten told and she stuttered out a thank you.
"So you're Elsa. You know, I think Anna mentioned you before, back when she had first moved there. I didn't know you were a Frost though." Rapunzel spoke to her with a sweet smile.
"Neither did I!" the brunette heard Anna yell from off camera.
"So, do you guys hang out a lot?" she asked. Elsa nodded her head shyly.
"Y-yes. Anna comes over every day." The blonde responded quietly. Rapunzel raised an eyebrow at that.
"Really? You know that's funny, because I use to have to bribe her to come and hang out at my house." Rapunzel said with a knowing smile.
"That's because your mother is bat shit crazy and I would have to climb three stories to sneak into your room. And you hit me with a frying pan once because you, and I quote, "thought I was a man with pointy teeth trying to sneak in and murder you." She heard Anna's voice again. This time further away. The redhead was now lounging on the couch. Elsa saw Rapunzel roll her eyes but her smile remained.
"How can you put up with that every day?" she asked the blonde. Elsa smiled a bit and glanced at Anna.
"Anna is really amazing…" Elsa said.
"See? She appreciates me!" Anna said from her spot on the couch, now chewing on something. Where did she get a chocolate bar from?
"She just eats a lot." Elsa finished.
"Hey!" Anna said, pouting around her mouthful of chocolate. She could hear Rapunzel snickering loudly on the other end. "Oh dear Lord, what have I done putting those two together?" Anna said to herself as she heard Elsa let out a giggle at something Rapunzel had said.
***FROZEN***
"Now that wasn't so bad was it?" Anna asked after Elsa had handed her the white iPhone back. The blonde conversed with Rapunzel for almost a full thirty minutes. Anna was amazed at how Elsa could handle change if she would just open herself up to it.
"Rapunzel is a great person. She reminds me of you, I like her a lot." Elsa said as she sat down next to Anna on the couch.
"But you like me more right?" Anna said trying to keep a convincing pout in place but failing horribly. Elsa smiled and pretended to think.
"I don't know. I mean, Rapunzel's never stolen chocolate from me before." Elsa responded in a contemplating tone. Anna's mouth fell open and she shoved Elsa playfully.
"I've created a monster." She said, folding her arms and looking in the opposite direction of the blonde. Elsa smiled and grabbed Anna's hand. She really loved that she could do that now.
"Yes, I like you more." She said, interlocking their hands. Anna smiled and moved closer to Elsa. They stayed like that for a long time, just taking comfort in the other's presence. Suddenly a brilliant idea came to Anna and she jumped up from her seat.
"Oh my God! Why didn't we think of this before?!" she said excitedly. Elsa looked at the redhead like she had completely lost her mind.
"Anna, what are you talking about?" she asked, extremely confused. Anna shoved her phone in Elsa's face.
"This! This is our answer! Well, not this, but something like this!" Anna rambled. Elsa stood and lowered the redhead's hand from her face. She grabbed the girl's shoulders in an attempt to settle her.
"Anna. Slow down. What is the answer to what?" she asked slowly. Anna took a deep breath to calm herself. The redhead was still vibrating with excitement when she spoke again.
"Elsa, your first step into being more active in your company is this. Video chat! You can sit in on meetings, and talk to your executives. You can been seen without having to actually leave. You can play a major role in your company and just about anything else. Elsa, you can do this!"
AN: Hey you guys! Just wanted to drop an update for you. Call it a Fourth of July miracle! So, more Rapunzel or less?
So I really liked the idea of drawing the scene of Elsa and Anna after Elsa had cut her hands and I'm going to attempted this drawing style I've been thinking of in my head. Wish me luck and check my tumblr for updates and pictures!
