notes: I am very sorry, you guys. I can't believe I haven't updated this story since December! That's like 8 months! I'm so sorry. I don't know what happened. I just couldn't come up with a good chapter, and this chapter is just so short... Forgive me! I'm pretty sure I'll have the next chapter up by next week. I have a nice chapter planned out.
notes 2: Also, thank you wlkwos for your very well-written review again. Reading your reviews always puts a smile on face and also shows me what I have to improve on. Thank you again!

Road to Sakura

"If you have decided to stick to your way
Throw out your chest
And raise your head
"

It was a friendship that should have spanned a lifetime. The innocent daughter of the Fourth Hokage who could give her heart out to anyone she saw and the disowned heiress of the Hyuuga clan who had lost all hope of ever being accepted for who she was... It was a friendship that came together with tears and vows of forever staying best friends. It was a friendship that brought together a lost soul and someone who could heal her. It was a friendship that gave a girl who was oblivious of the dangers of the outside world someone who could protect her from it all. It was a friendship that didn't truly have a beginning and a friendship that didn't truly have a reason to begin but a friendship that was shattered and broken with harsh words and with different views of the world before them.

Haruno Sakura vs. Hyuuga Hinata

And yet, never did either one of them ever thought those different views would pit them against each other and nevertheless did they ever believe that they would meet on opposing sides of the battlefield.

"So," Hinata said with a smug smirk, one of her hands resting on her hip and the other dangling at her side, "It's come down to this... How very fitting, don't you think? Two ex-friends, fighting each other just for the sake of a small promotion. My, will I have fun..."

"I wouldn't be so confident if I were you," Sakura retorted. There wasn't anger in her voice towards the girl belittling her, for she knew if she were to get worked up then she would not perform as well as she'd like. "You may have been the better fighter in the academy, but I've grown quite a bit since then."

A scoff. "Well, if you've grown like you say then this should be interesting, but"—the Hyuuga's body shook as a cruel chuckle escaped her lips—"you've always been more bark than bite, my little cherry blossom." The moniker isn't used lovingly. Instead, it is used as a scorn. "What will you do once you lose, hm? Cry for mommy and daddy?"

Again, Sakura ignores the girl's balant insults. "As I've said before, Hina-chan,"—like the Hyuuga, Sakura also knows which buttons to push but, unlike Hinata, Sakura gets the satisfaction of watching her opponent's face twist at her mockery—"Better familial piety for my parents than your obsessive love for Naruto. I will win this battle, Hinata, and prove to you once and for all that I'm not the same girl you abandoned all those years ago!"

"Heh, I'd like to see you try." And with one hand sign, Hinata's kekkei genkai revealed itself. "Byakugan!"

"If you have decided to believe in yourself
Accept the answer
Even if it's different from your ideal"
