Day 20 - Saturday December 14th 2013
I watch out the front window as Hank comes up the walkway, nodding to the two officers parked in front of the house. He's the last to arrive, the kids and Rosalie are all sat on any available space in the living room, laughing loudly while Monroe works on dinner in the kitchen.
I open the door for Hank.
"Hey man. Uh, here." He hands me a bottle of red wine.
"Thanks. Come on in, we just finished a round of charades so you're welcome to join in on the next."
"As long as I'm not on your team."
"Hey!" I laugh, he's quick to duck out of reach of any blows I might deal and join the group in the living room, "I'm just going to take this in to Monroe."
"Hey, Hank brought over some wine." I set the bottle on the counter next to the stove.
"Mmm looks good." Monroe turns to me and pulls me into a hug.
"Mmhmm." My whole body relaxes against his warm frame, hands gripping the soft flannel of the back of his shirt. I look up at him and he leans down into a kiss.
"Woah woah woah woah!" The quiet moment is interrupted by Gracie entering the kitchen, "What?"
"What, what?" Hansen isn't far behind her and Holly follows him, hand clenched tightly on the hem of his shirt, when he spots us we've already pulled apart.
"Those two-" She points to us, "They were-" She can't seem to get it out.
I laugh lightly, "Kissing, Gracie?"
"Wait, come again?" Barry and Roddy are now stood next to Gracie, joined at the hand and Rosalie is behind them with a knowing smile.
"That's typically what two people in a relationship do."
"A relationship?" Roddy and Barry high five.
"Yes, as in dating." I grin.
Holly is the first to detatch from the group, hurrying over to wrap her arms tightly around my waist. She doesn't say anything, but I pet her hair, lifting her face to press a kiss to her forehead, she's smiling.
Soon all of the kids are around us, giving hugs and congratulations and exhasperated finallys.
These kids are possibly the most understanding and accepting group of people ever. Looking at where they came from and how they all came into our lives and now even, becoming best friends and supporting eachother through anything. The most unlikely group of friends, a Reinegan, a Jagerbar, a Blutbad and two humans.
A timer goes off and Monroe announces that dinner is ready.
We laugh and we joke and we tell stories all through the meal. Sometimes we have to stop and explain something to Hank but how could we mind? He's as much a part of this strange little family as any one else.

So there's that. I honestly can't belive it's only been a week, when I realised that it was Sunday I was freaking out thinking that I had missed a chapter. It has been an insanely long week but I'm excited because I get to go out with my best friend tomorrow for shopping and lunch and a movie!
