Chapter 20

The Time-Turner

Harry didn't wake up until about five in the morning.

"I saw my dad." he said.

Hermione and I looked at him.

"What?" she asked.

"It was dad who sent the Dementors away." he said looking at me.

I got up and walked over as he sat up.

"Harry I sent the Dementors away."

"I'm talking about the stag. I always knew you were a wolf Kat. But there were two wolves."

"No, it was just mine."

"I swear I saw two."

"There was only one Harry." said Hermione.

I gave her a grateful look. She nodded and then looked at Harry again.

"Listen Harry they've captured Sirius. Any moment now the Dementors are going to perform the kiss."

"You mean they're gonna kill him!?"

He sprang up from the bed.

"No it's worse! Much worse! They're going to suck out his soul."

"Come again!?"

The doors flew open. Dumbledore walked inside and Hermione, Harry and I ran to him.

"Headmaster you've got to stop them!" Hermione said.

"It's true sir!" I said.

"Sirius is innocent!" Harry added.

"It was Scabbers who did it." Ron said.

We all looked at him.

"Scabbers?" Dumbledore asked.

"He's my rat sir, well he's not really a rat, I mean he was a rat! He was my brother Percy's rat. But then they gave him an owl and…."

"It's true sir! You must believe us!" I said quickly.

"I do Miss Potter, but I'm sorry to say the word of four 13 year old wizards, will convince few others. Oh and Miss Potter Professor Snape was looking for you. I suggest you go to his office now."

I groaned and made my way down to the dungeons. Pavarti found me on the way down.

"Kat! I've been so worried about you!"

We hugged and I smiled.

"I'm alright. Trust me…..well I am not looking forward to finding out what Snape wants with me, but I'm fine."

Pavarti made a face.

"You want me to go with you?"

I shook my head with a smile.

"No, I'm not afraid of him. I'll see you later."

She nodded and I made my way to Snape's office. I knocked on the door and he opened it up.

"Miss Potter, sit down."

I walked in and sat down. He looked angry.

"I hope you didn't think I forgot about what you did last night! Sending me flying into a wall."

"I sent you flying onto a bed."

"Silence!"

I raised a brow but otherwise kept my mouth shut.

"I'll be taking 100 points from Gryffindor for that."

I shrugged.

"I did what I had to. You wouldn't let him talk because of your stupid little grudge. Learn to let go of the past. Are we done here? I promised Draco I would come find him."

Snape's eyes were dangerously narrow and I just stared him down.

"I could have you expelled…"

"But you won't and I know why. And so do you. You've never let me out of your sight for the 3 years I've been here. You'd never let me get hurt."

I walked out the door without another word. I closed the door and then leaned against the wall. I closed my eyes and leaned my head against the wall. I stayed there for a minute and then left. I went back to the Hospital Wing where Harry and Hermione were walking in.

"How did you get there? I was just talking to you there…..and now you're there." said Ron.

"What's he talking about Harry?"

"I dunno, honestly Ron how can someone be in two places at once?"

I smirked and shook my head. I knew how they'd done it. Hermione had a time turner to help her get to all her classes.

"Where's Kat?"

"She went to see Snape remember?"

Harry groaned.

"And I know why."

I sighed.

No you don't.

I decided to find Draco and I knew where to go.

Draco's POV

I was in the Astronomy tower when Katherine found me. I turned and ran to her, taking her in my arms when I reached her.

"Are you okay?!" I asked.

"I'm fine Draco. But I…."

I pulled away and looked at her. There were tears in her eyes.

"What is it? You can tell me anything."

"Snape….he…..he's my godfather." she said.

I didn't have anything for that.

Katherine's POV

"All these years I could have been raised by him, knowing full well where I came from and what I was. No! He let me stay with my horrid aunt and uncle and pitiful cousin. He hates me because of who my father was! His own goddaughter!" I cried.

I leaned against the wall and slowly slid down. I pulled my knees to my chest and started to cry. And Draco never left me. He stayed there with his arms around me trying to make me feel better. I clung to him as though my life depended on it. When I finally did calm down he lifted my face.

"There's no excuse I can make for him for what he's done. But apart from your brother he's really the only family you have left."

I shook my head.

"I have you."

He smiled and pulled me to him.

"You'll always have me Kitty Kat. I promise."
