Sorry that this took me so long. I was on vacation and I didn't have my computer with me. I don't own Bones or anything else I mention in the story

Trick or Treat

"Hold still Bren!" Angela pleaded as she put on the last of the costume make up on her friend. Her aunt and uncle made her return the Wonder Woman costume and they got a ghoulish bride costume instead. Something about the costume being a little too revealing. Angela decided to go as a beautiful artist since her dad refused to let her out of the house with her sexy artist costume. Adults could be such joykillers!

"Are you guys almost done in there? I have to pee!" shouted one of the triplets, maybe John. Who knows they almost sound the same.

"Hold on! We're getting out now!" Angela shouted as she shoved her make up supplies into her bag. Bren got up and checked out her make up in the mirror. Angela made her look pretty ghoulish if she did say so herself. Dark lipstick, black eyeshadow, green mottled skin, and dark craters in her cheeks to look like her face was caving in. Bren looked pretty impressed by Angela's job. Whichever triplet was waiting outside rushed in and slammed the door.

"Don't you two look scary," said Mrs. Wick as she painted Matt's face green for his zombie costume.

"Thank you," Angela answered. Bren shrugged and peered into the candy bowl her aunt placed on the kitchen counter.

"So what are you two supposed to be?" Angela asked the two other triplets who were playing tug of war with a pillow case.

"I'm Captain America," answered the first.

"And I'm Spiderman who's way cooler than Captain America," said the other.

"Are not!" protested the first.

"Are too," said the second.

"You idiots are both wrong. Wolverine's the coolest," said the third triplet as he ran up to his brothers and swiped the pillow case.

"Shut up John!" the other two shouted.

"Hey! Stop fighting or you'll have to come in for the night earlier! Do you three want that?" asked Mrs. Wick.

"No," the three boys answered.

"Good," Mrs. Wick said, ding dong, "Oh that must be Daisy's friends. Matt can you let them in?" Mrs. Wick asked, "I'm going to see what's taking Daisy so long." Matt got up with an exaggerated sigh and lumbered to the door. Soon the kitchen was packed with kids and Matt yelled that he was going over to his friend's house to trick or treat. Lance smiled a little bit and asked if the two girls were going to the Halloween party.

"Yeah, are you?" asked Angela.

"No, I'm just going to hang out and get some candy," Lance said, trying to be cool.

"I thought you'd go trick or treating with your friends," Bren said.

"W-w-well that's what I meant to say," Lance stammered.

"I like the costumes guys," Angela said.

"We look lame," complained Allie.

"Oh Allie I didn't realize you were coming. I thought you said you were too old for this," Mrs. Wick said in a forced sweet voice as she and Daisy walked into the kitchen.

"Eh. It was either this or do nothing," Allie shrugged.

"Daisy I thought you were going as a ghost queen," said Lauren.

"I changed my mind. Now I'm a Sith apprentice," Daisy said as she pulled out a flashlight with red cellophane taped to it, "This is my lightsaber. Watch out!" and turned it on. She looked at their costumes and said, "Zach that Second Doctor costume is awesome!"

"Thanks it took a while to find clothes similar to what he wears," Zach nodded.

"Nice pipe Sherlock and cool hockey mask Myers," Daisy grinned.

"Are we going or what Daisy?" Allie said rudely.

"I guess, I was going to ask if you guys wanted to wait a little while so it gets really dark instead of the sunset and-"

"Listen let's just go," Allie said cutting her off. Mrs. Wick replaced her dark look with a false grin and handed out some pillow cases and told them to be back before ten.

"Can we come back at ten?" asked one of the triplets.

"No, you guys need to be back here by nine and before you argue they're older so they can come back here later," Mrs. Wick said.

"We gotta go. Party. See you guys later," Angela said.

"Don't forget to be back before curfew!" yelled Mrs. Wick as the two teenagers made their quick escape from the house. Angela smirked at Bren who was buckling her seatbelt and asked, "Now are you ready to have some real fun?"

At the party

The Sullivan Estate was as impressive on the inside as it was on the outside. On the outside there was a long driveway packed with cars and obviously well-tended bushes and lawn with a large wrought iron gate. On the inside there was a grand hall with a chandelier that had some bulbs taken out for the occasion, a fancy parlor room with a grand piano covered in fake spider web, and a dining room table that had plenty of goodies from pizza to cake and candy. Angela couldn't find close parking so they had to walk from a few blocks down and into the house. The grand double doors were propped open by glowing jack-o-lanterns.

"Didn't I tell you this would be awesome?" asked Angela as she looked at her friend's open mouth and wide eyes.

"Okay, you were right. This is a rather impressive party," Bren agreed.

"Hey girls!" yelled Tim Sullivan with a goofy smile.

"Hey Sully," said Angela with her flirtiest smile.

"Hey if you're thirsty, the coolers are full," he said before he staggered off when somebody yelled his names. Angela dragged Bren with her to the cooler and opened it. They both were completely surprised with what was in it, beer.

"Ange I have to go," Bren said with lots of urgency before Angela could overcome her shock, she ran.

At the neighborhood

"Come on Allie! You're slowing us down!" yelled Daisy as she dragged Lance and Zach over to the next house.

"Why are you this excited about Halloween," huffed Allie as she finally caught up to the rest of the group.

"Because I get to dress up and get lots of candy. What's not to like?" asked Daisy as she started towards the next house.

"Hey guys look," said Allie who was pointing at an old and creepy looking house. It had several windows broken and boarded up, dead grass on the lawns, and the front porch sagged to the ground.

"What's that?" asked Lance.

"It's a haunted house," said Allie in a low voice.

"According to legend," said Wendell.

"A house cannot be haunted. That defies all rationality," said Zach.

"And even if haunted house were rational there is no evidence that the house is haunted," said Lauren.

"Did you know that children and animals are the most likely to see ghosts?" asked Vincent.

"They probably just imagined the ghosts," said Zach.

"Hey since we're technically children, I say we go into that house and see if we can find ghosts," suggested Allie.

"No way. That'll just be a waste of our time and technically we're all thirteen or fourteen in Lance's case so we're teenagers," Daisy snorted.

"Teenagers was a term used as early as the 1920s," Vincent said.

"No one cares. Come on guys just come with me and we can see if it's haunted or not," Allie said.

"Allie be nice," said Daisy.

"Wait why is this house haunted?" asked Lance.

"It's supposed to be haunted because this used to be a foster home during the early '60s to early '70s and then the lady who ran this place tried to kill all of the kids but she missed one and that kid was crazy. The crazy kid loved to sleep in the basement, where the other foster kids were usually sent to if they were bad, and loved biting and hitting people but mostly biting. So when the lady who ran this place just killed the last kid and the crazy kid went even crazier. Apparently even though he teased, bit, and beat up the last kid a lot I guess he wanted to be the one to kill him or that in his mind only he was allowed to hurt him so he went ballistic on the lady. They fought and they fought and he eventually was killed. The cops arrived and shot him since the lady was yelling that he killed them. The lady tried to make it seem like he killed them and that worked for a while until-" Wendell said.

"Until what?" asked Lance, both eager for the end but disgusted by the woman's actions. He had been in foster care himself and knew how terrible things could get.

"Hold on. So the crazy kid supposedly haunted the lady and on the anniversary of the killings the woman killed herself and she wrote a confession letter and in it she said she could feel the crazy kid's presence and she was covered in bite marks when they found her body," Wendell said solemnly.

"His last revenge," said Daisy quietly.

"Couldn't it have been animal bites?" asked Lance.

"No way. They were human bite marks and the doors and windows were closed. The lady didn't have any pets either so they couldn't have bit her," said Wendell.

"Oh," said Lance. Truth be told, this legend made him feel sick to his stomach.

"So you want to go in?" sung Allie in a way too cheerful tone considering what happened.

Back at the party

"Bren! Bren!" Angela called out. She spotted Bren walking down the front lawn of the estate.

"Wait up!" Angela yelled as she ran down towards her.

"I'm leaving Ange," Bren said as she hurriedly walked down the sidewalk.

"Okay I'll admit it I didn't realize there was going to be booze here. Can you please stop for a second?" she asked.

"No Ange I won't. You do realize the paperwork for my aunt and uncle to be my guardians is yet and if I get caught at a party where underage drinking occurs they could send me away to some foster home and I don't want to leave," Bren said nearly in tears.

"Okay then. We'll leave. Jack told me that he couldn't make it to the party because his parents think that the Sullivans are bad news so they are holding him hostage at his house and we can just go over there alright. Does that sound good?" Angela said as gently as she could. Poor Bren was so scared out of her mind that all she could do was nod. Gently, Angela led Bren to her car and started it up. When Angela looked over at her she could have sworn Bren was crying.

At the neighborhood

"I don't think we should go in," Lance said, hoping his nerves wouldn't show.

"Why? Are you scared? Is that why you don't want to go back in?" teased Allie.

"Hey it's only seven o'clock and it just got dark. How about we get some more candy and maybe later we'll talk," Wendell suggested.

"Fiiiiiiine," Allie sighed dramatically, "You guys are such wimps."

"Are not!" protested Daisy.

"Listen can we get the candy without the two of you murdering each other?" asked Wendell. The two girls scowled and Allie was able to keep any snide remarks from leaving her mouth. The gang went to every house in the neighborhood, except the haunted one, and then went down the road to go to another neighborhood and only rang a few doorbells before an old lady screamed at them that it was almost ten.

"Crap. We gotta go," said Daisy as she started to rush down the old lady's front lawn.

"Why scared of your mommy?" teased Allie.

"No I just don't want to get yelled at for breaking curfew," said Daisy, "My mom and dad will get mad at me if I do."

"So you are scared," said Allie.

"Allie my parents would get mad if I broke curfew too," said Lance.

"Mine would too but they might not be if I was only a few minutes late because we don't have any way of telling time out here," said Zach.

"Same here," said Wendell.

"My parents might but you never know what they'll do," said Daisy, "Can you guys hurry?"

"Daisy we'll be at your house in a jiffy. Calm down," said Wendell.

"A jiffy, seriously," said Allie

"Actually you couldn't be there in a jiffy because a jiffy is actually 1/60 of a second in electronics, or 1/250 of a second in electronics, or it could be used in physics as a measure of the amount of time it takes light to travel one fermi," said Vincent.

"Do you have a Jeopardy addiction or do you just pull facts out of your ass?" asked Allie in disbelief.

"No I do not "pull" facts out of my ass. I find them in books. You might want to open one some time," snapped Vincent.

"Yeeesh Vincent take a joke," said Allie.

At Daisy's house

"How was passing out candy?" asked Mr. Wick.

"Good. How was taking the boys out for candy?" asked Mrs. Wick.

"Pretty good, they behaved at least," joked Mr. Wick.

"Hey anyone call the house asking you to pick up Temperance from the police station?" asked Mr. Wick.

"No, why would I?" asked Mrs. Wick.

"Apparently some kids got arrested for underage drinking and they were around the Sullivan family's estate so I figured they got drunk at that party and wandered outside," said Mr. Wick.

"Well the girls weren't there then," said Mrs. Wick.

"Hon, the girls said they were going to that party," Mr. Wick said.

"Noooo, I got a call from Mrs. Hodgins who thanked me for sending Tempe and Angela to cheer up Jack since they wouldn't let him go to the party. That was around seven and that's when this party was supposed to start," Mrs. Wick said.

"Maybe they went to the party, saw the beer, and left," said Mr. Wick.

"Technically it wasn't proven that they got drunk at that party," Mrs. Wick said.

"Hon, we both know where those kids got drunk. We were both pretty wild teens ourselves," Mr. Wick said.

"Shh. Don't let the kids hear that," Mrs. Wick grinned as she swatted her husband.

"Why not?" asked Mr. Wick as innocently as he possibly could.

"Then they won't listen to us," said Mrs. Wick, shaking her head.

"Ah the joys of children," Mr. Wick said.

"Yep, the joys of children," smiled Mrs. Wick.

"Mom! We're home!" yelled Daisy as she dragged her friends through the front door.

"It's 10:05 guys," said Mr. Wick.

"Sorry we just lost track of the time and we didn't have watches or a clock," Daisy explained in a single breath.

"It's alright. Are you guys sleeping over or are your parents getting you?" asked Mrs. Wick. When everyone answered in the negative the parents doled out the usual questions like, "do you want to call you parents?" or "are they picking you up?" or "do you want us to drop you off?" As soon as Mrs. Wick left to find the phone and Mr. Wick left to eat some of the candy the triplets didn't want, Allie started up again.

"Guys we should totally sneak out and go into that house," said Allie.

"No!" everyone yelled.

"Whyyyyy noooot?" whined Allie.

"Because our parents would kill us," said Wendell.

"It was built in the early 1900s and asbestos were common in buildings and asbestos can lead to mesothelioma and scarring and inflammation of the lungs," said Vincent.

"And the structure of the house may be very weak due to the neglect of it and there could be rats, termites, and mold," said Zach.

"You're afraid of mold?" Allie asked in disbelief.

"No but it worsens my allergies," answered Zach.

"And if you kids know what's good for you, you'll stay far away from that house," said Mrs. Wick with phone in hand.

"Mom! Were you eavesdropping?" asked Daisy.

"No, you guys are just very loud. You should stay away from there," said Mrs. Wick.

"Why not?" asked Allie.

"Because I'll tan you sorry hides if you do. My God, you kids don't even know what happened there. This whole legend thing is complete crap," said Mrs. Wick.

"Well tell us what really happened then," challenged Allie.

"Trust me you don't want to know and I'm just going to drive you kids home," Mrs. Wick said, "Into the car."

"But," Allie started to say.

"No buts. Into the car," Mrs. Wick said the group except for Allie started for the garage.

"You can't make me," protested Allie. Mrs. Wick didn't respond at first then she just picked Allie up and started towards her car. "Come on guys," Mrs. Wick said.

At Jack's House

"Thanks for ditching the party to see me guys," said Jack as his two friends walked through the front door. He started leading them towards the large family room.

"You're welcome sweetie," said Angela.

"There was quite an assortment of beer and alcoholic drinks at the party," said Bren.

"Shh. Don't let my parents hear that or they'll call the cops and we'll be pariahs at school," said Jack.

"Why?" asked Temperance, "We're underage so we shouldn't be drinking in the first place."

"So what was it like before the whole beer thing?" Jack asked.

"It seemed like an interesting party," said Bren.

"Interesting? The decorations were so cool," Angela added.

"Really?" asked Jack.

"Yeah everything they said about it was true," said Angela.

"Cool," said Jack.

"What are you watching?" asked Bren.

"Oh you know The Mummy," answered Jack.

"I love this movie," said Bren.

"You guys want to watch?" asked Jack.

"Sure," Angela answered.

"Absolutely," said Bren. After the movie finished Angela asked Jack what he was planning on doing for the rest of the night.

"Well I was going to try out some experiments if you want to see them," Jack said.

"What are your experiments?" asked Bren.

"Oh you know stuff with different colored lights and plant growth and stuff involving bugs and their behavior in different temperatures," said Jack.

Can we see?" asked Angela.

"Sure," Jack answered. He got up and showed them to the back room. In the back room it was covered with science-y stuff. His bug and flower collection was lined up along the shelves on the back wall and there was a long bench on each wall. That had different tanks on one, flowers in pots on another, and a microscope and slides on the last one.

"Wow! This is so amazing!" said Bren. She was in heaven right now. When she was with her parents she always loved to go into the basement and reassemble the skeletons of carrion she found in the woods. Her dad was actually starting to show her how to taxidermy animals. She always wanted to have her own workshop. Maybe she could convince her aunt and uncle to let her use the garage or the basement for her workshop.

"Hey what time is it?" asked Angela.

"Almost 9:30," answered Jack.

"Do you think we have time to watch another movie?" asked Angela.

"Probably why?" asked Jack.

"Bren's aunt wants us back by eleven and I'm staying over," answered Angela.

"Okay what film do you guys want to watch? I got Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, Night of the Living Dead, Dracula," Jack rattled off.

"Got anything more current?" asked Angela.

"The most current horror films I have are Friday the 13thand Nightmare on Elm Street," said Jack

"Alright I could go for some Jason Voorhees. What about you guys?" asked Angela.

"Sure. I'll get us some popcorn," Jack said. The movie was pretty good but it was almost eleven so they had to rush back to the house in order to make curfew.

"So I heard you guys didn't go to the party," said Mr. Wick. He and Mrs. Wick were waiting for them in the front room.

"Yeah we went and visited Jack and watched some movies," answered Bren.

"You know some kids got caught for underage drinking," Mrs. Wick said.

"Why are you asking us about that?" asked Bren.

"We were just wondering if you guys knew anything about it," said Mrs. Wick.

"Well we don't," said Bren.

"Okay, well remember that if we catch you guys drinking, you'll wish you never even been born," said Mrs. Wick, "Good night girls."

"Good night," Bren said as she dragged Angela upstairs. They got ready for bed and Angela slept in the cot they set up for the night.

"Do you think they suspect anything?" asked Angela.

"I don't know. I just want to forget it alright," Bren answered.

"Okay," Angela said. Then they fell asleep.
