Hi, guys. I have just finished my Moral Studies assignments last night so here's a tiny thing to celebrate my successfully writing eight extremely dull essays without breaking down even once. Many of you have given me such positive feedback and I wish I could upload more often to repay you all for your encouraging words. I know I haven't done that segment where I reply reviews that I get in a while. I'll do some of them now.
WinchesterGirl2975 and Time-LadyMararder have suggested first dates and first crushes respectively. I know this is not exactly either of them but I promise that there will be a second and maybe even third part to this story. I do hope I have somewhat fulfilled your wishes haha.
A Guest Review wrote in: "This is such a lovely story and shows that even the most badass hunters have a soft spot for babies LOVE IT" Thanks, Guest Review person. I have always loved hard shell, soft centred characters. And chocolates. And mints with chocolate filling.
User mikeysrevenge always tells me that they can't wait for more. This always drives me to write as much as possible. Even though it isn't much.
Now, that I've done the most recent reviews, I won't stop you from reading the actual chapter now. Enjoy and leave a review telling me what you think.
It is summertime and Mary has moved to yet another town because her Dad and Uncle are on a case. There have been several strange killings in town and Uncle Sam had pegged them as vampire kills. The signs are clear and they are determined to get to the bottom of it before more innocent people get killed. Missing people are also being reported and they suspect that the vampires have their nest nearby. Dean and Sam are out again and Mary is sitting, bored, in the motel room and surrounded by all her books. Since Dean has finally agreed to let her drop out of school, Mary is free to do whatever she wants and she has decided to learn all she can about the Supernatural. Her father wasn't very happy at first, but with enough pleading and convincing, Dean was won over. Now, she helps her Uncle Sam with the research work and she has proved resourceful.
She looks hopelessly at the laptop on her left. She has been sieving through the reports in hopes of finding a clue to where the nest may be. Nothing has helped so far. This job is going to be a tough one. Giving up, Mary closes the laptop and gets up from her seat. She looks around the empty motel, wondering if there is something she can do. The beds are made, the TV is showing a rerun of Doctor Sexy, M.D. and there is nothing to help her pass the time. She decides to walk around town and get something to munch on. Sam and Dean are currently looking at all the cadavers in the local morgue. They won't be home so early, but she still leaves a note on the table telling them where she's going. With that, she pockets her phone and purse and walks out the door.
This town is nice and quaint, with little rows of shops lining the roads. Mary finds a diner she likes and opens the door. Smells of bacon and eggs waft over to her and her stomach rumbles. The milkshakes are topped with large scoops of ice cream and sprinkled with colourful sugar beads. Not being able to resist, Mary settles down on a small table meant for two and an elderly lady comes to take her order.
"What will you have, dearie?" The lady asks, smiling cheerily and wrinkling the corners of her eyes.
"Um, I'll have a vanilla milkshake and a cheeseburger," Mary replies.
"Coming right up," the lady says before walking off with Mary's order.
The door's bell chimes and in walks a handsome boy. He is tall and has broad shoulders with muscular biceps that strain against his t-shirt. His short hair is a dark blonde colour with a small fringe swept to one side. His warm, chocolate coloured eyes meet Mary's blue ones and Mary's breath catches halfway. Mary's cheeks grow warm and she ducks her head down in an attempt to hide her blush behind her hair. Suddenly, she is very aware of how unmade she looks.
She is only wearing her usual plaid shirt over a tank top with jeans and boots. Her curls are messy and undone. Small streaks of black ink still stain a few strands of her hair, they could never really wash off since her last school encounter. She didn't even bother to put on any makeup today because she wasn't intending on meeting anybody worth impressing. Lesson learnt: always be prepared.
In her attempt to not look at the boy that just came in, she didn't notice that he had just sat opposite her. She looks up and gives a startled squeal. Feeling very flustered, she habitually reaches for a lock of hair and starts twirling it around her index finger. The boy doesn't remove his gaze from her.
"Hey," the boy says. "I haven't seen you around town before, are you new here?"
Mary nods, "I came with my Dad and Uncle for a holiday."
"Ah," the boy says. "Where are you from?"
"Kansas."
"That's cool," he says. "I'm Theo, by the way."
"Mary," Mary replies. "Nice to meet you."
"Same here," Theo says. "Hey, are you free tonight?" Mary nods and he smiles, "Cool. So can I take you out for dinner, then? You don't get girls as pretty as you around here very often. Where are you staying?"
"Okay," Mary squeaks. She can barely believe that someone as good looking as Theo is would come up straight to her and ask her out. It was only last year that she was being bullied in school. Nobody wanted her then. "I'm staying at Lou's Motel two blocks over, room 1-B."
"Great," Theo grins and winks. "I'll see you at seven, then."
Mary walks back to her motel in a daze. She has a date tonight. How strange. She has never been on a date before. She has never even been remotely interested in boys before. But Theo is gorgeous beyond words. Suddenly, the world seems so much brighter and happier. Mary skips all the way back to her room. Now she has to worry about what to wear for her date tonight.
At six in the evening, Dean and Sam return to find Mary shovelling through her clothes. Her hair is a mess from her scratching her head as she lifts up two blouses to compare. Happy with neither one, she throws them onto her bed and groans into her hands.
"Whoa," Dean comments. "It looks like a hurricane hit. What's going on?"
Mary looks up and says, "Hey, Daddy. I'm going out tonight and I don't have anything to wear."
"Going out? What do you mean going out?" Dean asks, a frown creasing above his eyebrow.
"Well," Mary nervously twirls a lock of hair around her index finger. "I met a boy and he wanted to bring me out for dinner."
"Whoa, wait a minute," Dean shakes his head. "You just met this boy. And you want to go out with him? No way, José. Not under my watch."
"Daddy, please," Mary begs. "He's really nice."
"No, he isn't," Dean says firmly. "You just met him. You don't know that."
Sam, who has been watching the father and daughter fight silently all this while, decides to speak up. "Dean, let her go on her date," Sam says quietly.
Dean turns to Sam who is sitting on his bed, pushing aside some of Mary's strewn clothes. "No, I won't let her go. It's not safe! This boy can have ulterior motives, Sam. Something bad will happen, I'm sure of it."
Despite Dean's anger, Sam can't help but tilt his lips up in a smile. "It's a part of life, Dean," Sam replies. "Mary's a big girl now. She can take care of herself. She's growing up. You are going to have to accept that this is her first date and she'll have many more after this."
Dean opens his mouth to retort back but closes it again. He looks from Sam to Mary, who has put on her biggest puppy dog eyes. The one that he simply can't resist. The one that he simply cannot risk getting hurt. He grumbles, "Fine. But this young man will be having a word with me before you two head out. Got it?" He points at Mary and Mary nods quickly. Dean glances at the clothes Mary was going through. He sighs and says, "Put on that blue dress you bought for your birthday. It brings out your eyes."
Mary grins and hugs him, saying, "Thank you, Daddy."
Dean just grunts.
Yeah, okay. Theo James made a cameo in this chapter. I'm sorry but he's hot. And cute. Go watch Divergent and you'll understand my pain. Which is stupid because everybody in school is head over heels for him. Which is slightly annoying for me because I don't like liking things that everybody else is liking and going on about. I'm a wee bit possessive, heh.
