Chapter 20, Don't Leave us.

It didn't seem long before the September air became cooler and crisp with the winds of late October as Tonks made her way up the stone steps of Hogwarts with her hands deep in her pockets and a scarf tucked around her neck as she watched Teddy and Lyra run ahead to the large wooden doors of the school turning back to look at her as she reached the final step, it was Halloween night and as fate would have it this year it fell on not only a Friday night but a full moon as well so with arrangements with the head mistress to bring the kids to the school as a surprise to their father the foreshadowed transformation and aching bones were easily brushed aside.

She smiled as she opened the door and unwrapped the scarf from her neck and led the kids down to the Defense Against Dark Arts class room peeking inside to see Remus walking up and down the rows of desks while the first year students hunched over papers, no doubt a work time before the feast later that night, her smile turned into a smirk as she glanced down at Teddy, his hair now as orange as a pumpkin, and Lyra who's hair was black as a ravens wing as they peeked inside bouncing to try and scare their father.

She waited until Remus had his back to the door before she flicked her wand and every torch in the room went out and the windows all closed so the front of the room was dimly lit by a single candle before she gently pushed the door open letting the kids slip in with her steps behind bitting back a laugh as she slammed the door making the students jump, she listened looking around in the dim room unaware her eyes had changed to a honey amber color as the room seemed normally lit to her eyes thanks to her werewolf sceances.

Her eyes fell on her husband who had turned to face the door though he seemed to be struggling a bit more than her to see in the dark as he fumbled for his wand, one of the female students let out a shriek as Teddy brushed past her fallowed by Lyra before they both jumped in front of their father screaming Boo as loud as they could, she couldn't help but laugh as she relit the torches and opened the windows her eyes adjusting back as she took in the sight of her husband looking a bit scared at their kids along with the class, though it wasn't hard to see why in Teddy's case seeing as he had managed to make grey wolf ears form on his head that disappeared as he laughed.

She looked around at the class who were watching either her or one of the kids with wide eyes while their professor gathered himself and cleared his throat looking at her crossly yet some how smug.

"I see someone is in the Halloween spirit, it's convenient you three came by acctully Nymphadora."

She shuddered at the use of her first name knowing something was up but swallowing the feeling she went to him and lifted Lyra onto her hip while Teddy stayed by her side.

"How so Re-professor?"

She smiled forgetting for a moment the class was still in the room as he picked up a book from his desk turning to a page labeled 'Metamorphmagi and Shape Shifters.'

"The class was just finishing an assignment on Metamorphmagi I think a demonstration may help them."

She set Lyra down and leered at him, she normally loved to show off her power to change her hair but the pregnancy had taken it's toll on how often she could control it, never the less she sighed and closed her eyes making her features change so she now appeared to be the same age and height as a seventh year her outfit even shifting with her, thankfully due to a charm connecting them to her shifting, the display was fallowed by her hair changing from brown to pink and her eyes from grey to blue then violet.

Beside her Teddy laughed and joined in the show turning his hair a livid blue and his eyes black as night while Lyra turned her hair purple, Remus chuckled and quickly placed a kiss to her cheek while the students made notes of the changes that occurred.

"Are all three of you pure blooded Metamorphmagi Mrs.?"

Tonks pulled her attention from Lyra's wild display of hair colors to look at the Ravenclaw girl who was now watching them with her hand raised.

"Not all of us, I was born a Metamorphmagus, first and only in my family before I married and had children, my son and daughter are both only half though their abilities are different, like me my son can change how he looks including physical changes, hair and eye color but my daughter can only change her hair and eye color."

She smiled placing a hand on each of the children's shoulders and the girl nodded glancing between her and Remus.

"If they are half Metamorphmagus then what's their other blood half?"

She glanced at Remus who acted as if the question hadn't bothered him but she could see the slight panic in his eyes.

"Human of course get it from their father."

She smiled brightly at Remus who looked surprised for a moment but smiled back at her as it sank in and placed a hand on her shoulder while the bell rang.

"Have those papers finished before next Wednesday other wise you will be kept behind from the Hogsmeet trip."

He called after the class as they left a few students placing completed papers on his desk, she sighed looking up at him her hair turning back to the brown that reviled the few and faint lines of silver and her eyes went back to their normal stormy grey while her form shifted back.

"I thought Metamorphmagi and Shape Shifters were for the third years?"

Remus kissed her forehead before picking up the papers on his desk.

"Normally yes but in a class of mostly Ravenclaws and Gryffindors they move much quicker than the others so I chose something that would take more time, the fact that these students have this assignment finished is impressive as it is."

She stepped behind the chair as he sat down and began to lightly rub his shoulders reading the papers over his shoulder.

"What was the assignment?"

He set the papers down and leaned back in the chair closing his eyes but smiled as Lyra climbed into his lap and tried to read the papers while Teddy wandered about the room.

"List the differences between a Metamorphmagus and a Shape Shifter, what things can a Metamorphmagus do that Shape Shifters can not and vise versa as well as how to tell the difference."

She took the paper from Lyra looking it over raising an eyebrow.

"Well this one is wrong as far as I'm aware, we can't change our hair to split colors, tinted yes but not two split colors, if we can then someone teach me how."

He smiled looking at the name as she handed it to him.

"Ahh Alice Meadows, she's a bit of an odd ball in the Ravenclaw group smart as a whip but it takes her a bit to catch onto small things though I'm impressed it's this that she's having trouble with."

She looked at him confused after helping Lyra down so she could join her brother at the window to watch students on the grounds.

"What do you mean? No one can be an expert on Metamorphmagi even me and I've been one all my life!"

He pulled her into his lap resting his chin on her shoulder as she leaned into him.

"That is true but she shares your struggles, she's a Metamorphmagus as well but so is her little brother though his hair only tints where hers can change."

She blinked as his words set in and several times she opened and closed her mouth to speak but nothing came out.

"How'd you find out what she is?"

He smiled kissing her cheek before coaxing her up as the bell rang again and foot steps could be heard in the hall as he stood letting her take his place in the chair while Teddy and Lyra sat on the window sill.

"When she came into class with blonde hair and blue eyes one day then red hair and green eyes the next."

She didn't get time to respond before he began collecting papers as students handed them in before taking their seats, she looked over the group of third year students who were either looking at her or completely ignoring her as they talked, most of the group consisted of Slytherin and Hufflepuff students who were talking in hushed tones a few of the Hufflepuffs stealing glances at her though she tried to act as if she couldn't hear them as she lifted Lyra into her lap acting like she was examining the jar containing powdered unicorn horn.

"Isn't that the female auror who was here last month?"

"Yeah, she was talking to professor sprout last time she was here, think she was a Hufflepuff?"

"Didn't you know? Here I have her chocolate frog card, see 'Nymphadora Tonks, auror and former Hufflepuff student, upon graduating from Hogwarts school and obtaining Exceeds Expectations on her N.E.W.T exams entered the Auror training program under mentor Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody, after obtaining her title she took part in the battle of Hogwarts during the second wizarding war just weeks after her son was born and months after marring her husband Remus Lupin."

"So what's she doing here then? Think the head mistress is taking precautions because it's Halloween?"

"No way well at least not for that reason, you know full well it's probably to take safety measures for the full moon tonight the werewolves will be coming out of the woodwork in the forbidden forest."

The three girls now turned their attention to Remus as he stared the class by addressing the dark creature in the conversation, by the end of class the students had an assignment to read the section about werewolves and animagi and write two rows of parchment on them, as the day went on and lunch came around the four Lupin's took the time to make a trip to muggle café before returning back with nearly no time to spare before the next class causing Tonks to laugh and Remus to give her a half hearted leer before starting class as she sat behind his desk only moving when he'd all but lift her out of it between classes, it didn't feel like long before sunset was looking over head as Tonks dropped Lyra and Teddy off with her mother who seemed to be having an out of character messy time making one of her famous cherry pies.

She quickly hurried back to Hogsmeet tucking her hands into her pockets and burrowing into her scarf as she hurried to the Shreiking Shack, once inside blahs made her way to the cellar where she found her husband waiting tucking his wand away in a hiding place while she took off her scarf and replaced it with the neon pink collar that now held her wand, the transformation was quick for a change as she soon found herself looking around the room for her mate unable to find him she put her nose to the dusty floor and fallowed his scent out of the room and into the main part of the shack where she found him clawing heavily at the door in an attempt to escape, she let out a low whimper, the wolvesbane potion hadn't worked for him because he'd missed doses making sure she took each one.

She went to his side and nudged his side with her head making him freeze and look at her before nudging her muzzle with his own then looking back at the door throwing himself at it knocking it off it's hinges leaving him to tumble into a pile of red, orange and golden leaves, she fallowed him out as he shook leaves from his fur sitting on his back legs looking at her as she laid on her belly lazily before going to her side and nudging her cheek with his nose receiving a low growl as she stood fallowing him to the forbidden forest as the potion began to wear off uncharacteristically and her human mind became foggy before going dark as they entered the forest.

Fallowing her mate dangerously close to the school she looked around at the sounds of laughter freezing like her mate as she looked for the source of the sound, soon enough it crossed their path two students a boy and a girl laughing brightly unaware of the threat that looked over them, upon instinct she slunk to one side of the pair and her mate to the other though she had first move standing in front of them growling so her teeth were bared making the laughter stop and turn to screams of horror as her mate fell into place behind the pair growling as well.

Like a switch had been flipped the potion kicked in hard making her yelp at the sudden realization of cornering two kids, she looked at Remus who's potion had seemed to kick in now as he backed away whimpering and shaking his head, she looked back at the kids and growled again jumping at them but fell short to scare them into running away which they did screaming as they did, she went to her mate's side licking his muzzle and after a moment he returned the gesture before turning and walking back the way they had came until they reached the shack and slipped back into the cellar awaiting dawn, she became bored and after passing the floor, getting a paw to the head for chewing on her own tail and being groomed from head to toe she walked up the stairs sniffing around fallowing a scent to the upper floor looking around the room letting out a heavy snarl as she came near the piano and her mate came in behind her to find her growling at the piano as if it had attacked her, it took a moment for the small shape perched on top of the wood to stand out but sitting there was a brown furred rat who was looking at his mate as if she were smaller than it before it continued to groom itself.

She crouched low to the floor and pounced at the rat landing on all fours on top of the instrument snapping and snarling at the creature until it slipped away inside the piano where she couldn't reach it no matter how she dug at the smooth wood or how many claw marks she made in the wood, after a few solid moments she gave up jumping back to the floor sniffing around again while her mate went to the bed and in one jump laid down sending up a cloud of dust causing them both to sneeze, she shook her head and jumped up beside him laying so her head was on his paws and he rested his head on hers.

How long they stayed that way was unclear but it seemed like just minutes later the dawns pink rays were being thrown into the room making them shift back, Tonks sighed opening her eyes to see she was nestled against her husband's chest and his arms were around her though he was clearly awake like she was, she groaned and sat up making him sit up and place a hand to her cheek.

"Can we leave please? The dust is killing me."

He chuckled and kissed her head but got up before helping her up and watching as she detached her wand from the collar and summoned their clothes and his wand, after quickly dressing they left the shack and apparited across the street from her mother' house where they were met quickly by Teddy and Lyra running out the door still in night clothes while Andromeda watched from the door way.

"What in the name if merlin are you two doing up so early?"

She asked as she lifted Lyra holding her close as the girl hugged her neck with a small yawn.

"They didn't even sleep, they are most likely coming down from sugar rushes now."

As if on cue Lyra yawned again from her father's arms and fell asleep while Teddy leaned into her side closing his eyes, she chuckled and messed up his hair enough to wake him up as she thanked her mother, they apperted back to the house were the kids went right to bed and to sleep making Tonks smile and shake her head as she fallowed Remus up the stairs to their room not long after , she laughed as he laid on the bed and carefully pulled her down beside him so their lips were inches apart booth smiling like fools until she closed the space and kissed him lovingly pulling away to rest her head on his chest letting his heartbeat and his fingers on her back lull her to sleep with him fallowing close behind.

The next two months seemed to fly past and before long it was December 15th, snow was dusting the ground outside and Tonks was stuck on bed rest until her due date while her husband was at the school, it was mid afternoon when she had had enough of being forced to stay in bed and got to her feet going down to the kitchen glancing in the living room at Harry and Teddy battling out a game of wizard's chess while Ginny and Lyra watched drowsily in the chair while James napped in the play pen beside them, it had been her husband's idea to a sign baby sitters for her and today Ginny and Harry had stepped up to the task.

She shook her head and rolled her eyes as she opened the cupboard pausing for a second as the hinges squeaked making Harry smirk in the next room looking at Ginny who had looked away from the game to the kitchen hall.

"Told you she wouldn't stay put."

Ginny rolled her eyes but didn't move her place but rather looked back to the game as Teddy made his move and beat his god father in the game, Tonks relaxed seeing Ginny wasn't going to force her to go back up to bed like her husband would have as she reached on tip toe for a mug on the top shelf when a splitting pain began in her side and spread quickly to her torso like wild fire causing her to let out a scream and drop the mug to the floor while she clutched the counter for support.

As the mug smashed on the floor Ginny appeared in the door way taking one look at her before swallowing any sign of fear as she seen the trickle of red down the older women's leg and hurried to help her stand yelling for Harry to take the kids to Molly or someone before appariting herself and Tonks to St. Mungo's watching as Tonks was quickly moved to a bed and taken into the back.

Harry had waisted no time gathering all three kids and taking them to the burrow with Molly needing no explanation as she took James from her son in law and urged him to hurry to the school which he did without pausing for breath before sprinting into the school and to Remus' class room bursting through the door causing the older man to stop in the middle of a lecture to look at the breathless Harry.

"T-Tonks...St. Mungo's...T-the baby."

Was all he could say but it was more than enough for Remus to understand as he quickly dismissed the class and fallowed Harry in apperating to the hospital where they were met by Ginny in the waiting area looking ready to either break down and cry or become frozen where she sat until Harry went to her side and she nearly ran into his arms burring her face into his chest as she shakily said they had taken Tonks into the back, Remus paced about the small corner of the waiting room for what seemed like ages before a med witch came over looking from a clip bored to him.

"Remus Lupin?"

He nodded wringing his fingers as the women looked back at the clip bored again but cut him off when he flirted to speak.

"Your wife went into premature labor but we were able to stabilize and save the child, your wife however took the ordeal harshly and it has left her in a closely monitored unconsciousness, she lost a great deal of blood and an existing injury from a Sectumsempra hex left her clinging to life by a thread."

Remus felt his heart crack with every word the witch said but it shattered completely when he was asked to fallow her, she led him to a room and held the door open for him and as he stepped in he seen his wife laying on the bed completely motionless her skin pale, eyes closed and hair mousy brown streaked lightly with silver spider thread like hairs, his heart ached as he took in the machine connected to a breathing mask that covered her nose and mouth helping the slow rise and fall of her chest.

He stayed by her side holding her hand in both if his, his forehead against the back of her slightly cold hand and his eyes closed trying to fight off tears, he looked up when the med witch returned to the room with a bundle of white in her arms he forced himself to let go of his wife' shame to stand and take the infant into his arms looking into the blueish grey eyes that looked back at him.

The baby in his arms made a small noise and as he looked he could see his wife's features in it's face but the one thing that stood out was the unruly tuft of deep chocolate brown hair under the pink hat.

A baby girl, Tonks had been right about the baby being a girl but she wasn't even able to say "I told you so" and hold her.

"Does she have a name?"

Remus looked away from the now sleeping baby and nodded.

"Arabella, Arabella Rose Lupin."

Tonks had chosen the name and he had agreed provided the baby was a girl, the med witch smiled in an attempt to lift the mood a bit as he sat back in the bed side chair watching his wife and holding her hand while still holding Arabella.

He wasn't sure how long he sat just watching his wife hopping she'd wake up when the sound of the door opening made him tear his eye away and look over his shoulder at Ginny and Harry as they came into the room with Teddy and Lyra, Teddy seemed to be the first to seance something wasn't right as he looked from Arabella in his father's arms to his mother on the bed.

Remus watched as Teddy came to his side holding Lyra's hand both had their hair a deep shade of blue, Teddy's eyes were looking over his mother while Lyra's attention was on their baby sister.

"Is Mummy going to be okay?"

Remus looked at his son biting the inside of his cheek before nodding.

"She'll be just fine, you know your mum stubborn as can be, she'll be awake and around before you know it."

Teddy nodded though Remus didn't doubt the child didn't believe his words when he didn't believe them himself as he looked at Lyra who was looking at her sister who was now awake and making small gurgling sounds as her little hand closed around Lyra's finger making her smile, Ginny squeezed Harry's hand before going to the foot of the bed carefully sitting by Tonks' feet her hand on Teddy's shoulder as she tried to reassure him that she would wake up soon.

The next four days were hard for Remus as he found himself unable to leave the hospital room even refusing to eat until Sirius came by and all but forced him to eat, Sirius and Ginny were the only people who made nearly daily visits some times with Teddy and Lyra or James but Sirius was the only one who would stay nights and try to get his friend out of the wallowing mess he was in much like tonight, some his Remus had let Sirius convince him to go back home and be with Teddy and Lyra after promising he'd stay with Tonks and let him know if anything happened.

Sirius sat beside his younger cousin his head bowed on his hands and his eyes shut as he silently begged for her to wake or give any form of movement aside from the rise and fall of her chest, he raised his head to look at her when she made some form of a noise.

"Nymphie? Can you hear me? If you can please wake up Remus is worrying himself to death, it the first time he's left your side in four days, please Nymphie just wake up I'd do anything if you did, I'd take your place if I had to just please Remus and the kids need you."

Tears made it hard for him to see her face clearly but he could see enough to watch her mouth move slightly and a faint noise that sounded like she was saying Remus made it's way out of the mask, he whipped his eyes and got to his feet, he needed to stretch after sitting for so long, after only taking his eyes off her for a moment he glanced back at her as her hand moved ever so lightly as if looking for what was holding it and with a heavy sigh sent his patronus to Remus before sitting back in the chair trying to coax her awake until Remus showed up less than an hour later and he explained that she was some what aware of things around her, he let Remus take the chair and after standing at the foot of the bed for another hour while his friend tried to wake his wife he called it a night and after saying good night and trying to comfort his friend left the hospital.

Days came and went again but time was never in focus for Remus all he knew was that Christmas had just passed after a trip home to see Teddy and Lyra and give them their gifts though the room seemed less cheerful even with all the decorations and lights without Tonks there, after the kids had settled to keeping themselves occupied for Sirius he went back to the hospital and fallowed his routine of paying Arabella a visit in the nursery and taking her with him to his wife's room where he sat in the chair holding their youngest daughter, over the time he'd spent just watching her he realized her hair never changed from shades of brown and her eyes were always the blue grey they had been the first time he seen them.

It was December 28th and a med witch had just finished a few tests and a check of over of his wife before leaving the room when he stood pacing by the window as he fed Arabella humming softly trying to get her to sleep when a sound made him freeze and look at the bed.

"R-Remus?"

It was her voice muffled and weak but it was unmistakably hers, he carefully laid Arabella in the carrier he had brought from home and went quickly to the bed side his heart ready to explode with relief as he was met with his wife's grey eyes looking around the room confused and her lips trying to form words through the breathing mask, he gently removed the mask and watched as she took a breath closing her eyes for a moment before opening them again as her lungs adjusted from the oxygen not being forced into them.

"W-What happened? Where are we?"

He smiled wearily placing a kids to her forehead holding her hand in his.

"Your in the hospital love, you've been in a coma for 13 days."

It took a moment for her mind to process what he'd said but once it did her free hand moved shakily to her now flat torso and she looked up at his terrified.

"She's just fine love, heathy and happy even for being born early."

He placed a kiss to the back of her hand before moving away and picking Arabella up from the carrier and bringing her over setting her carefully in his wife's arms keeping his hand on her elbow incase her arms gave, the smile that graced Tonks' lips made his heart feel ten tons lighter as she cooed to Arabella who made little noises of her own her little hand clamping around her mother's finger the deep brown mess of hair lightening a shade so it was more of a chestnut color.

"Well now there's those abilities princess." He looked at his wife as she chuckled kissing their daughter's head.

"So she does have the Metamorphic gene?"

Tonks looked away from the baby in her arms to meet his eyes and she nodded.

"Yes but it's not very strong it looks like it only goes with her mood."

He smiled and kissed her head before looking back at Arabella who yawned and fell back asleep her hand still around Tonks' finger making her smile and turn her hair pink, the sound of the door opening made him look away and over his shoulder to see Ginny with Teddy and Lyra who were starring unbelievingly at their mother who was sitting up without more than a pillow against her back and holding their baby sister.

Teddy smiled his hair turning from brown to teal in a flash and he hurried to the bed side smiling widely as Remus took Arabella back helping him and Lyra onto the bed after handing the baby to Ginny, Tonks laughed as Teddy hugged her neck burring his face in her shoulder and Lyra nuzzled into her shoulder on the other side.

"Hey now you two, why the sad faces? You didn't think mummy would leave you did you?"

It was a minute before either answered.

"No but we were scared you'd never wake up, when we left last time we walked past two doctors and they were talking about 'Pulling the plug' on the patient in 203 and well that's this room so we got scared."

She didn't know what to say and threw a panicked look at Remus who seemed to be just as surprised.

"Sirius told us not to worry about it, that it wouldn't happen not as long as he could help it but sneaking in and out as Padfoot and sitting in here under the invisibility cloak made little he could do."

Lyra went on when no one said anything and Tonks' heart plunged deep into her stomach at the thought of Sirius taking the risk just to come and see her, she looked back at Remus and as if a switch clicked on in her head she realized he was in worse shape than before full moons before they were married and dark circles marked under his eyes making tears rise into her own, she kissed Teddy and Lyra each on the head taking a shaky breath.

"You two men are complete ideates, one wrong move and Sirius could have been thrown back into Azkaban or worse had dementors preform the kiss on him here and you!"

She turned her eyes a sharp and piercing black as her hair flamed red making Teddy and Lyra inch back from her to sit on the foot of the bed.

"You've isolated yourself here for probably 90% of the time I was out and now look at you! For merlin same Remus if something had happened to me I wouldn't want you to be looking after the three kids like that and now you've run yourself ragged and nothing's happened."

Anyone could see the worry in her eyes no matter how she tried to mask it with anger so she was surprised when Remus smiled and placed a hand to her cheek.

"What the bloody hell are you smiling about?! I'm mad at you!"

She pouted pushing his hand away and crossing her arms before turning away stealing glances at him.

"I'm smiling because I'm relived that your completely fine, your the same old hot tempered women I fell in love with."

She sighed her hair turning back to brown and she looked back at him.

"And your still the prat I love no matter how overbearing you get,"

She paused as if something came into her mind and she was thinking something over before her face paled a bit from the flushed it was before.

"What day is it?"

Remus glanced at the calendar.

"The 28th love."

He watched as her hair turned a deep velvet purple and she frowned.

"I was under that long? I've missed Christmas and the wedding."

Ginny handed Arabella back to Remus and went to Tonks' other side and sat lightly on the edge of the bed.

"Don't worry about it Tonks, they understood though the enchanted snow wasn't as fun when Fleur did it by herself it didn't change color but that's beside the point."

She managed a small smile but sighed as Ginny got to her feet and led Teddy and Lyra out of the room glancing down at the large black dog that padded in along side Harry as he softly closed the door.

"Sirius have you gone mad?! Your still a wanted man you know!"

She hissed under her breath but Sirius just shook his head with an eye roll before jumping onto the foot of the bed his paws on her legs giving her a look that said he knew she was happy to see him.

"Yeah yeah, ok so I'm a bit happy to see you Pads."

She scratched behind his ear laughing as his tail thumped against the bed before she looked at Remus as he laid Arabella in her arms again.

"So how much longer do I have to stay?"

Remus paused in shooing Sirius from the bed to glance at her.

"Soon hopefully but you only just woke up so they may want you to stay awhile longer, the numbing potion still seems to be in effect."

She looked confused as she watched Sirius huff at Remus before sitting on the floor beside Harry's legs.

"When you came in they rushed you to surgery putting you under and giving you a numbing potion strong enough you shouldn't have been able to feel your whole body and when the med witch came in yesterday she said the potion was still in your system."

She listened looking down at Arabella as she slept her hair a light brown, she sighed turning her hair to it's normal brown stealing a glance at Sirius and Harry as the silver strands snaked through her hair.

"I guess that's why I can't feel my legs, either that they are asleep."

Remus went to her side kissing her head with a small sigh.

"Don't worry love you'll be out of here before you know it I'm sure."

She let herself smile and move so his kiss landed on her lips only moving away when Arabella began to stir and whimper, after awhile a med witch came in and ran a few tests on her and cleared her to leave once the potions effect wore off and she could feel her legs again and walk across the room which ended up nearly happening an hour later had she not tripped and fell into Remus.

Once she was allowed to leave it was around sunset and Sirius had left with Harry as she left with her husband holding Arabella happily as the little girl slept her hand closed tightly around her finger, the trio apparited to the house where Ginny was with Teddy, Lyra and James who was happily laying on a blanket that had been placed on the living room floor while Teddy and Lyra messed about with some things from the joke shop, little metal soldiers that marched and fired puffs of smoke at each other by means of a charmed wined up key.

They entered the house and then the living room where they quickly grabbed Teddy and Lyra's attention seeing as they abandoned the toys and got to their feet hurrying over, she smiled kneeling to their level kissing each on the cheek before chuckling as Arabella woke and had latched her hand onto Teddy's shirt.

"Do you want to hold her Teddy?"

The boy nodded and after his baby sister let go of his shirt he went to the couch and sat down with Lyra beside him, she fallowed him and carefully laid the girl in his arms watching as Arabella made little noises at her brother, she smiled then looked at Ginny who was now holding James as he babbled and laughed Ginny returned the smile before turning her attention to Teddy as he shifted his hair from blue to a periwinkle color that made Arabella gargle happily at him.

The remainder of the early evening passed easily with the adults talking while Teddy and Lyra slept in their beds and Arabella and James slept in their mother's arms, it was close to 10 o'clock when Ginny decided it was time to leave and after seeing her off and putting Arabella in her crib Tonks fallowed Remus to their room falling asleep almost as soon as she laid down, Remus chuckled slightly as he placed a kiss to her hair before falling asleep himself until around midnight he faintly heard Arabella crying and after a moment his wife slipped out of bed, stumbled on her way to the door, then went to Arabella's room soothing her for a bit before he opened his eyes to find his wife carrying the baby down stairs.

After a few more moments the crying down stairs stopped leaving the house silent as he got out of bed and peered down the stairs, he was met by the dull glow of the tv screen and he could faintly hear voices as he made his way to the living room, once he entered the room he found Tonks sitting in the couch with a nursing blanket over her shoulder as she watched the movie on the screen some what half asleep.

He came up behind her and lightly placed a hand on the shoulder opposite the nursing blanket making her jump slightly and look up at him.

"Merlin you scared me Remus."

She said in a hushed voice before turning her attention back to the screen, he fallowed her gaze and seen the movie she was watching and chuckled.

"Up at midnight and watching Phantom of the Opera not a good habit to keep love."

She rolled her eyes glancing up at him.

"Arabella needed feeding and if I sat in the dark I was going to fall asleep and it just happened to be on, besides maybe I like this movie."

She pouted up at him but it melted into a smile as he kissed her temple before sitting beside her on the couch his arm placed carefully over her shoulder, she gave a small yawn resting her head on his shoulder letting her eyes close for a moment then open again just as she began to fall asleep.

"If she's settled down maybe you should put her to bed and get some sleep yourself love before you fall asleep like this."

Tonks nodded and got to her feet making her way upstairs, he fallowed after a moment turning the tv off and shaking his head as he entered their room finding her asleep on the bed with Arabella nestled between her arm and a pillow, rather than move her he slipped into bed careful not to shift the pillow as he closed his eyes the last image he seen before falling asleep was one that made him happy and grateful that his wife had made it through the ordeal and now they had their newest addition to the family home as well.
