#JULEXIS!

Chapter 20

Alexis took a deep breath as she gazed down at the shiny gold knob before her. It had been almost a week since she had seen Julian. They were both so busy… her as D.A…. him with the paper that seemed to be doing better than ever. She missed him… and she knew he missed her. Besides, she had something she wanted to tell him.

Running her hand over the name plate on the door, she then knocked softly and turned the knob. She poked her head through the door, finding Julian seated behind his desk, a smile illuminating his face when he realized who his visitor was.

"Hi," Alexis smiled back.

"Hey…" Julian quickly stood to greet her, his hands sliding around her waist as he placed a kiss to her lips, "Mmm… something smells good."

"I brought lunch," She held up the bag in her hand, "Metro-court."

"You sure know the way to my heart, don't you?" he raised a brow as they both traveled to the glass conference table to set up for lunch.

"I don't know… I think there are more ways to your heart than just food…" She replied coyly, "Which is good for me, since I'm not exactly proficient in the kitchen."

"Well," Julian chuckled, wrapping his arms around her waist from behind and kissing his way up her neck, "You certainly make up for it… you are expert in those other ways."

"You think?" She turned her head as his lips traveled to meet hers.

"No," He broke between kisses, "I know…"

Alexis sighed as she wrapped her arms around his neck, drawing them deeper into their kiss.

"Mmm, Lex…." Julian moaned as he broke their kiss and cupped her face with his hands, "You know I was just sitting over there thinking about you…"

"You were?" She asked softly and he nodded.

"I'm always thinking about you." His response was heated as he passionately parted his lips against hers. His breath was turning ragged.

"Julian…" She sighed breathlessly, "Lock… lock the door…"

Julian nodded, pulling her with him as he took a few steps back and turned the lock before pushing them back in the room, "Mmm… you're amazing…"

"Hmm…" Alexis smiled as she pulled away, her face flushed and breath still ragged, "I thought you said the way to your heart was the food? Lunch is going to get cold…"

"I have a microwave right over there…" Julian tipped his head in the direction and then took her mouth once again, "You know I can't… I can't stop, now…"

Alexis raised a coy brow, "And you could before?"

Julian could only smirk before devouring her mouth again, he slowly pressed her against the back of the large leather chair in front of his desk.

"Oh…boy…" Alexis breathed as she felt him press against her. It was almost too much. Before she knew it her hands were on his belt as she felt his travel up the back of her blouse.

"My God, baby…" Julian panted felt her hands slip beneath the waist band of his pants, "I… I can't even think straight…"

"Mmmm. Julian…" Alexis moaned, arching against him as he kissed his way down her neck, and she felt his hands unclasp her bra and it quickly come loose. The thin fabric of her sweater was soon the only barrier between her and Julian's active hands, "Ohhh…"

Julian smiled at her reaction and quickly covered her open mouth with his, "Mmmhmm…" He felt her finally get his buckle undone and it wasn't long before the button and zipper were open and her warm hand was covering his strained cotton briefs. And in that moment, he wasn't sure he could stand it, "Alexis…" He breathed raggedly.

"Yes?" She raised a brow, knowing exactly what she was doing.

"You… you can't," He gritted his teeth, drawing a sharp breath as her hand ran up and down the length of him, "God… Lex, stop…"

With a smile, Alexis did as he asked and stretched up to consume his mouth with her own. Both of her hands cupped the back of his neck as she drew his tongue deeper into her mouth. As she steadied herself with a firm grip on his neck and shoulders, Julian brought his hands to the base of her sweater, slowly lifting it over her head.

Julian barely missed a beat before he kissed his way down to the tenderest part of her chest causing her to gasp sharply. She weaved her hands through his hair, burying him against her, "Julian… ohh…."

"Yeah…" He smiled wickedly as he continued his work. He felt her hands grip his shoulders, prompting him to switch from one side to the other, allowing his hand to minstrel where his mouth once did.

"God… Julian!" Alexis practically screamed and could barely form thoughts when she realized what he was doing to her, "Ju… Julian…" She panted before placing her hands against his head, guiding him back to her lips where she met him in yet another kiss.

"Something wrong…?" Julian asked when he finally pulled his lips away. He watched as she shook her head.

"I was about to…" Alexis sighed, covering his lips again, "Not yet."

"Okay," He nodded, his breath hitching when he felt her hands travel to his lower back, pulling him closer to her, "You're wearing too many clothes…"

"I am?" She raised a brow, "last time I checked, I was topless."

"Yeah," He smirked as he unzipped her dress pants, as he felt her hands slip beneath his jeans and cover his bare skin.

"I want to…" Alexis sighed as his kisses traveled down her neck, "Julian…"

"What?" He cast his eyes upward, watching the sparkle in her eye as he felt his pants being lowered over his hips.

"I'm not going alone…" She whispered as she slipped her hand behind the thin cotton barrier between them and took his mouth again.

"Mmm… Lexis…" Julian moaned, as his hips bucked beneath her touch, "I'm… I'm not either…"

"Good," She smiled again before letting go and standing on her own two feet in front of him. Grabbing him by the shirt collar, she led him to the front of the chair and kissed him deeply before he slipped his hands to cup her backside and lifted her up to sit on the edge of his desk, "Oh, God!"

"No… it's just me," He smirked and slowly pulled her pants down and over her ankles, "There… now we're even."

"Mmm-mmm," She shook her head as she unbuttoned the bottom half of his navy blue collared shirt, unable to recall how the first half got unbuttoned to begin with. She slowly pushed it off his shoulders, sliding her hands down his tight, muscular arms, "now."

Julian watched her eyes gleam as she pushed herself off of the desk and stood again, before slowly backing him into the chair behind him, "Alexis… I can't wait much longer."

"You think I can?" She tilted her head as she leaned over the chair and kissed him, allowing him to gain access to her final piece of clothing. She did the same for him, slipping her finger between his body and the waistband of his briefs; he lifted his hips to allow her to pull them down his legs.

"Come here," they met in a kiss as he pulled her down to him, her legs resting on either side of his. He kissed her fervently as he placed both hands on her hips, lifting her slightly, their lips never parting, "I love you…I love you so much."

Alexis paused with a hand on his shoulder, she cupped his cheek with the other and looked into his eyes, "I love you, too…"

"Alexis," Julian groaned as she joined them together, sharing passionate kisses between panting breaths, "You… are… incredible."

"Juli…Julian," her breath shook as she felt his hands travel down her torso, "Julian… don't…"

He threw his head back as her movements quickened and intensified, "My, God, Lex!"

Alexis leaned closer, kissing up his exposed neck and to his ear. She gripped his shoulder with one hand and his hair with the other, "I love you…"

"I… love you…" Julian struggled as he placed both hands on her hips to slow her movement, "Hold… hold on…"

"What?" She asked breathlessly, without time to think before Julian had stood, never parting their bodies. He turned and rested her in the chair.

"I want to see you. You're so beautiful," He smiled as he leaned in for a long, breathless kiss. He picked up the pace, her legs wrapping around him, "This is it…"

"Julian…. Don't….stop…" She panted, gripping the back of his hair with her hand.

"Oh, Lex…" Julian groaned, feeling her body tense and the grip on his shoulder and hair tighten.

"Julian!" She cried as they both hit their high together. It was a few moments before his head exhaustedly rested against her shoulder. "Oh my God…"

"That was…" Julian struggled to catch his breath, turning his head to capture her mouth in a kiss.

Alexis smiled and ran her hand along his cheek, "Beautiful."

Julian moved to adjust Alexis in the chair so that he could sit beside her, "You are so incredible."

"And I just came by for lunch," She smiled coyly as she traced circles on his chest.

"I can't resist you. I've never been able to…" Julian brushed her hair away from her face and saw her shiver slightly, "Here…"

Alexis watched him lean over to grab his suit jacket, covering her with it, "Thanks."

"You're welcome," He kissed her softly, sitting up and wrapping his arms around her, he kissed the top of her head, "You complete me, Alexis."

"I love you…" She sighed, resting her hand on his chest. She lifted it for a moment, letting her curiosity get the best of her, she patted the outside of the jacket until she felt a small object in the pocket. Her ring. She felt the tears sting her eyes as she toyed with retrieving it from its place of safe keeping. She was ready.

The silence was broken by a strong growl of her stomach, causing them both to break out in laughter.

"Hungry?"Julian chuckled.

"Starving!" Her eyes were wide as he leaned into kiss her softly before shifting them both to get up. She sat, admiring the view from where she was.

When he bent down to grab his pants, he caught her from the corner of his eye, "What?"

"Nothing," She shrugged, "You're just so hot…"

Julian threw his head back in laughter before leaning over to kiss her lips, "So are you."

"You know," She began as she stood, gathering her clothing from the floor, "I guess we really knew how to get it right. Who'd have thought that two people who met at age 16 and had sex one night in the backseat of a car…"

"Would still be having impromptu sex in unusual places?" Julian raised a brow, meeting Alexis' bright smile.

"Something like that…" She smirked.

"Well, I knew it," He buttoned his pants and made his way back over to her, taking his shirt that she held out to him, "I knew the minute I met you that I wanted to marry you."

"But who knew you would get the opportunity to do that so soon after our meeting," Alexis chided playfully as she pulled her sweater over her head, finishing off her clothing ensemble.

"Best thing I ever did," Julian smiled, pecking her on the lips one more time. He finished buttoning his shirt before clasping his hands together, "Okay… let's eat!"

"Finally…" She sighed as she glanced at the clock, "Oh, shoot… I'm expecting an email… you mind if I check it quick?"

"No," Julian replied with a mouthful as he reached out and placed a bite of steak in her mouth, "Help yourself."

"Thank you…" She walked around the other side of the desk and turned the computer on. Looking around the desk, a print out of a penthouse caught her eye. She absently picked it up, "You moving?"

Julian almost choked at the question and looked up suddenly, "Hmm?"

"This…" She turned the ad to him before turning it back, "Looks beautiful… but I thought you liked your apartment?"

"I… I do…" He nodded, watching her carefully as she read into it more.

"Oh," She shook her head, "It's not for you. Who's moving to Manhattan?"

Julian couldn't say a word. Of all the things for her to find on his desk. He was going to tell her… he just had wanted to wait until it was all finalized.

Alexis looked up and immediately took note of his strange affect, "Honey? Who's this for? Your sister?"

"Uh… no," He sighed, setting his fork down and wiping his hands off with the napkin, "No, it's not for my sister."

"Well, why are you…" She looked away from him when the computer lit up with an open email on the screen.

Julian knew what she was looking at and all he could do was hold his breath until she turned back to him. Her feelings were written all over her face.

"So, this is for you?" She asked quietly, "Julian?"

"Uh… yeah…" Julian stood, running a hand over his face before settling them on his hip, "I was going to tell you. I just opened that before you came in."

"You just opened this…?" She gestured to the computer and he nodded, "This email that thanks you so much for accepting the position and Ronald looks so forward to working with you. See you on Monday. This?"

"Yeah. Ronald Schoen. The CEO of Sterling Publishing." Julian nodded.

Alexis felt like she was punched in the stomach, "You accepted a job in Manhattan?"

"Yes… but listen… a job is only Monday through Friday and it's not like it's in California. I will be home on the weekends…"

"You're going to commute 6 hours from Port Charles to New York City every week?" Alexis shook her head and had to bite her lip to keep from laughing, "Are you being serious?"

"Yeah," He nodded, "Alexis… this is a chance of a lifetime… I've been working my whole career for this chance."

"So a few weeks ago… when you knelt before me and asked me to be your wife again…"

"Alexis of course I want you to…"

"No… No, I mean… I just," She took a breath as she stood and came around to the front of the desk, "I just want to understand. When you asked me to marry you… you knew about this?"

"I… I was offered the job, yes," Julian sighed, "I hadn't accepted it."

"And you didn't think about telling me?" She questioned, "You didn't think maybe I would like to know?"

"I didn't even know if I was going to take the job, yet. I didn't want to…"

"Oh, so if I had said yes…"

"No!" Julian protested, "It has nothing to do with you!"

"It has nothing to do with me?" Her eyes widened, "Julian. You are the father of my children. You proposed marriage to me. Don't you think that a career move that would take you away from me and our family is something that you should discuss with me?"

"Alexis, I'm sorry… I…" He stopped when he saw the tears in her eyes.

"I came here… I came here today to bring you lunch. And to tell you that I want to be your wife." She choked, "When you put your jacket over me… after we had just made love in this office… I almost pulled the engagement ring out of your pocket and put it on my finger myself. But I wanted to wait. I wanted it to be romantic."

"Alexis…"

"But, I obviously don't mean as much to you as I thought I did…" She shook her head and pushed away from the desk, grabbing her purse, "And again… money and power comes before us. I can't believe I was about to make the same mistake again."

"Honey… please…" Julian reached out as she opened the door.

She turned back to him, "I can't, Julian. I can't do it."
