"We need to talk to that villager, the one who didn't agree with the Star Clan's change in heart." Maka said leaning against the wall of the guest bedroom. The house was small so they were sharing the room, though they had done that more times than they could count as children so it didn't matter to them. "Something's off."
"I know." the ninja sighed, "I've had that feeling since he got to the village. You think maybe someone wasn't as expressive about their ideas in the reform?"
"It could make people look over them when checking out suspicious activity. Especially if they were one of the first ones to agree with the leader." Maka rested her head on the wall looking up, "Obviously they wouldn't be the first one to change because that would be suspicious especially now when we're looking into it more."
Black*star nodded, "Okay, so if we think it is someone who's hiding his lust for power why are we talking to the other dude?"
"One, because we don't want whoever the real culprit is to figure us out. We'll use this to lead him off track. Besides its the best place to start even if we know it probably won't do much." Maka reasoned. The two of them sat in silence for a few moments, before finally Maka thought up another conversation started, "So what do you think of your parents?"
The blue haired meister laughed a little bit, "Its so weird to think that I have parents that are alive and well. My mother is so loud, and I could feel my dad's power radiating off of him. Maka, this is one of the most amazing moments of my life." He smiled brightly, "I'm glad you were here to meet them."
Maka laughed and did something she hadn't done in ages, she jumped on him to give him a huge hug. "Star!"
Black*star grinned flopped onto the bed and they ended up sprawled out like when they used to have movie night, "Girlie."
Unbeknownst to them, Black*star's parents came upstairs at that moment with a camera and snapped a few pictures of them laying there together. Ruby*star had a huge grin on her face while White*star smirked.
The next morning Maka had left the home to wonder around the village. White*star had even given her directions to the book store that was close by, apparently Ruby*star loved to read. But the woman had nothing that she wanted Maka to get to which confused Maka and made both her husband and son cough up their breakfast with blushing faces.
Finding the book store Maka walked in, there were shelves and shelves of books plus a ton of them stacked up in corners of the room. Walking down the aisles Maka picked any book that caught her eye. She would have to weed out the lesser ones later, because she definitely did not have enough money at the moment to get all of them.
"So you're the girl who brought Black*star back to us."
Maka turned to see a white haired girl and boy. They were obviously siblings, having the same sharp features and shape. They did not seem very friendly.
"My brother was going to take the placed of chief if he hadn't come around when you did." the sister growled, "His naming ceremony was in a few days!"
Maka's eyes narrowed, the girl's soul was radiating unnatural power. "Naming ceremony?"
"When he's named heir to the leadership position." the girl rolled her eyes, "Duh. You know nothing."
The boy placed a hand on his sister's shoulders, "I don't mind stepping down. It is Black*star's right to be leader, it was his position to begin with after all. I was just the substitute since we thought he was dead."
"We don't need him." the girl snarled, "It's your right!"
Black*star groaned, he shouldn't have let Maka go to a bookstore alone. Her parents had done the same mistake when they were younger and she went missing. They almost called the cops, until they went home and Maka had many more books than the twenty bucks she was given should have allowed. Apparently, the shopkeeper had a weak spot for the puppy dog eyes and an excuse of 'I want to get these for mommy's birthday!'
"We need to go and get her out of that bookstore." the ninja muttered as he dragged his parents through the town. "Should've never let her go alone. Going to drown in those books one of these days."
"Its right over there son." White*star said pointing to the right where the book store was in fact.
The family of there (plus an unborn baby) walked into the store to see Maka talking to two white haired teens. White*star and Ruby*star both smiled, so she met some more family.
"Maka." Ruby*star yelled as she ran up to the group, "You've met some more family. Do you know each other's name yet?" Maka shook her head, "Oh well that girl over there is Snow*star our niece. And her brother is Ice*star, our nephew."
Black*star noticed that Maka grimaced a little bit, before she gave a rather convincing fake smile, "That's very nice." She turned to her partner, "Black*star come meet your cousins already."
And there we go; I finally updated the story :)
