The best proof of love is trust.-Joyce Brothers

Amber sat in the passenger seat, she had a distant look on her face as she stared out the windo, she would usually try to talk, she couldn't stand silence. Spencer nervously licked his lips as he watched her from the corner if his eyes, he knew she was still steamed about how her parents and family treated her decision, and he wasn't exactly sure what to say to make her feel better.

"Amber?" He asked.

"Hmmm?" She mumbled.

"Are...are you alright babe?"

Amber sighed, "This whole vacation was a bad idea," she told Spencer as she lightly shook her head. " we could have went somewhere fun."

Spencer quickly licked his lips again then said, "well I enjoyed meeting your family,"

Amber looked over at Spencer, her eyebrows furrowed. "You're kidding?"

Spencer shook his head, "No, not at all. It showed me how you grew up, they did raise a great young lady,"Amber felt her face turning red, so she put her elbow next to the window and rested her cheek on the palm of her hand. She then felt Spencer's hand on top of her other. He took her hand in his and she felt the back of it touch his soft lips. Amber could feel her heart pounding in her chest. She looked over at him, his eyes were focused on the road, one hand on the steering wheel, the other still holding her hand and he was now using his thumb to stroke the back of her hand. Spencer looked over at her and she looked away. She felt like she was in middle school again, when she would sit in class, stare at her crush and when he would look at her she would look away. She hated middle school;she was awkward, chubby and knew she didn't fit in. Even in high school, it was the same way. Except she got thin, her hair got long and she had a few friends.

Everything really changed when she met Spence, he just got her. He got that she didn't think she was pretty, but he knew she was, he thought she wasn't just pretty, she was beautiful. He knew he wasn't handsome, he guessed it was just because he never really thought of himself in that way. He tried to tell her everyday, in more ways than just saying the words. Like now, taking her hand and kissing it. He loved the feeling of her skin on his, hers was soft and when they touched, it was like a charge of electricity passing through them.

Spencer had never really touched a girl as much as he touched Amber. He was also very awkward in school, being bullied and teased. He was sure Amber was too, mean girls dragging down her self esteem to make her think less of herself, so they could feel better about themselves. He really didn't care while he was in school, he wanted to focus on his school work and it worked for him, getting out of there before he really hit puberty. He knew Amber was always hard on herself, he would watch her as she did her homework when they were home. Plus, when she failed her one courses, and she thought he would break up with her over it. Spencer recognized that she didn't think she was smart or pretty. That's from years of being bullied and emotionally abused. Her parents aren't exactly...supportive. Spencer thought to himself.

"I noticed you sent me your novel," Spencer said then kissed the back of her hand once more before she took her hand back.

"Yeah," Amber said shyly, " I wanted you to look over it, make sure it was correct, you know;grammar and punctuation wise."

"Ah,well I promise I'll do it when we get home," Spencer replied.

"Alright," Amber said cheerfully. Spencer lightly chuckled at her sudden change in mood. He was glad she didn't stay with her family, he had company while he drove for the two hours and thirty three minutes it took to drive to Houston. Not just then, but when they get to the hotel, and he comes back to her there, instead of an empty room. The two and a half hours flew by, they talked a little bit more, but mostly kept quiet, enjoying the company of one pulled up to the hotel they were staying at and put the car in park. He cut the engine, unbuckled his seatbelt and paused. Amber realized this before she exited the car."Spence? What's wrong?" She asked as she shut the car door. Spencer's mind was racing, he was thinking about the case, and about how Luke agreed to letting Amber take off without a second thought. "Spence!" Amber repeated.

Spencer blinked and shook his head. "What?"

Amber laughed lightly, "Are you going to get out of the car?"

"Yeah," he said then cleared his throat as he opened his door. He stepped out of the SUV and into the hot Texas heat. Spencer slammed the door shut, he then went to the trunk, opened it and grabbed his and Amber's bags. He shut the trunk and walked over to the curb. Just as he stepped on the curb, the team emerged from the other side of the hotel doors.

"Hey, there you guys are," JJ said as the team walked over to the couple. Amber felt an instant pang of jealousy in her chest. The young agent was wearing a somewhat tight grey tee and a pair of slacks, her hair was down and had some wave to it. But the thing that made Amber insecure what the fact that the agent had barely any makeup on.

"Hey!" Amber said as Spencer handed her her bag.

"Spencer, your room is ready, go drop your things off, then meet JJ back down here and you guys can meet us at the local P.D," Agent Hotchner said, with a serious look on his face as he handed Spencer the key card for the room.

"Got it," Spencer said as he followed orders and hurried into the hotel, Amber following behind him.

The two of them quickly walked through the lobby to the elevators. The doors opened, the two entered and Spencer quickly hit the button for the seventh floor. The doors shut and the elevator started to head to their floor. The couple was quiet as the elevator finally reached their floor. The two of them stepped onto their floor, Amber followed Spencer as he walked down the hall to their room. Spencer stopped at their door, put the card key in front of the card reader and the door opened.

Spencer gestured for Amber to go, "After you," He said.

"Thank you," She giggled sweetly as she walked in to the hotel room. The room was quite nice, just like the other one they had stayed in when Amber came to visit Spencer after he got shot in the chest. There was a king sized bed next to the window, the bed had a black comforter on it, with silk black pillowcases to match, and a vase of a dozen red roses sat on the side-table. Spencer was now in the room, rummaging through his clothes to figure out what to wear. Amber sat down on the bed,she looked away from Spencer, keeping her eyes on the vase. She hated watching him go.

Spencer finally stood up, with his clothes in his hands, he set them down at the end of the bed and started to strip off his clothes. Amber didn't even notice, she was too busy thinking about him leaving. Spencer's pants dropped to the floor, he grabbed his clean pair of slacks off of the bed and slipped them on. He was watching Amber the whole time, he couldn't help but wonder what she was thinking about. What if she's thinking about Luke? Here I am, half naked and she hasn't even noticed. Damnit, why'd I have to be so scrawny,Spencer thought to himself as he slipped off his dirty shirt and slipped on a clean one. He buttoned it up, neatly tucked it into his slacks and grabbed his belt off of the bed. "Amber?" He finally asked.

"Yeah?" She answered without looking at him.

"Are you sure you're okay?" He asked as he slipped his belt through the belt loops on his slacks.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I guess I'm just emotionally exhausted, from being around my parents." she said then lightly laughed.

Spencer buckled his belt once he had gotten it all the way around his pants,he put on his tie and fixed it to look nice. He then walked over to his girlfriend and stood in front of her. She finally looked up at him, she looked so sad. "Well, get some rest then," Spencer said with a smirk.

Amber half smiled at him. "Yeah, I guess," she said as she looked back down.

"I've got to go," He said, just then Amber pulled on his tie, bringing his face to hers.

"Do you have to?" she pouted she then softly kissed his lips.

"Yeah," he mumbled then licked his lips.

"Alright," she said with a heavy sigh as she let go of Spencer's tie.

"Hey," he whispered as he leaned into her. Amber looked up at him over her glasses."I will try to get back here as soon as possible," he took his hand in hers and softly kissed the back of her hand. "I love you."

"I love you too," Amber replied, her heart was heavy with guilt. Spencer slowly let go of her hand as he walked over to his work bag, he grabbed it off the floor and half smiled at her. He started to head towards the door and Amber bit her lip. "Be careful!" She called after him.

"I will!" He called back. Amber heard the door open and after a few seconds heard it shut again.

Amber drew in a deep breath, held it in for a few seconds and slowly let it out. She got up off of the bed and walked over to the window, they had a view of the front of the hotel, Amber watched as JJ walked out of the hotel, Spencer wasn't far behind. Amber pursed her lips together as she continued to watch the two agents as they hopped in the car and drove off. Amber was already racked with loneliness. She walked over to her luggage and pulled out her laptop, this was her chance to work on her novel, no distractions, just her and her story.

Amber started off strong, typing away for hours, then she crashed, she was stuck and couldn't figure out why. Spencer, she thought. She hadn't talked to him for hours, he was what kept her going. He was her muse, it sounded corny, but it was true. Amber got up off the bed, walked over to her bag, and pulled out her phone frame one of the pockets. She unlocked it and had a few missed texts.

From:Luke

Time:10:23am

Hey how's ur vacation

From:Luke

Time:10:35am

When are we going for coffee

From:Luke

Time:10:49am

Are you really on vacation

Amber rolled her eyes as she looked to see who else texted her. Her heart stopped in her throat as she read the next text.

From:Garcia

Time: 10:45am

I know Luke is texting you missy!

Amber clenched her jaw as she scrolled through her contacts to Penny's number. She hit send and put the phone to her ear. The phone rang a few times and then penny picked up.

"I will give you ten seconds to explain yourself,go...ten..."

"I...that's not fair!" Amber protested.

"Nine..." Garcia warned.

"Okay, okay, I'm technically not talking to him, I haven't texted him back, I asked him for a few more days off because of the case they are working on. I had to agree to get a coffee with him," Amber quickly explained. There was silence on the other end of the line. "Garcia?"

Amber heard Garcia draw in a deep breath and smoothly let it out. "Just promise me nothing is going on…."

"Nothing is going on,"

"Cause I swear, if there is and you hurt Reid…"

"Nothing is going on," Amber repeated in a more firm tone.

"Alright, I believe you."

"But, he's the one that asked me to ask Luke if I could have a few more days off," Amber informed.

Garcia sighed," just don't make him think more is going on."

Amber bit her bottom lip," he already confronted me about it."

"Wait, let me get this straight, he confronts you about talking to Luke but then asks you to ask Luke for days off?"

Spencer was sitting at a huge desk at the local police department. The rest of the team was out and about; Hotch and Morgan went to the coroner's office, JJ and Prentiss went to see the latest victims family and Rossi was there with Reid.

Spencer sat there as he stared at the pictures of the victims up on the board. They were all girls, around 25-30, they all had dark hair and dark eyes. They didn't have on any clothes, the unsub made them strip down to nothing, leaving them vulnerable.

"So, this unsub is keeping his victims for days, as he takes many of them at once, then he puts these girls on the spot, making them strip down and then he has them kill each other? It just doesn't fit," Rossi said as he paced back and forth.

"None of the girls know each other or have any connections so he's taking random ones off the street," Spencer noted.

"But they all have dark hair, and dark colored eyes."

"He must be using them as a replacement for someone else," Spence suggested then took a sip of his coffee.

Rossi was standing there, watching the younger agent. "Are you okay Kid?" The agent asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine why?" Spencer replied quickly.

Rossi pulled out a chair and sat down across from him. "Amber told me that she wants to the whole team over,to 'have a night of drinking, food and fun' as she put it." Rossi said with a light laugh.

Spencer nodded," yeah,I don't think our apartment is the best place for it though."

"You can have it at my place." Rossi offered.

"I don't know," Spencer pondered.

"It's fine,I have plenty of room."

Spencer pursed his lips together, thinking it through. "Alright," Spencer finally agreed. "Thanks."

"Your welcome, alright let's get back to the case, the sooner we solve this the sooner we get to party," Rossi said as he rubbed his hands together.

Hours passed and the team wasn't even close to finding the unsub. The whole team was tired, and they were beat. This unsub was sneaky, this was his only kill. But killing four girls at once? It would take a very strong man or a group of men to carry the girls after they knocked them out. So this group was putting four women at their most vulnerable, striping them nude then handcuffing them and giving them options. To either kill or be killed. And sadly, they were all killed. Each woman was killed differently, so it was most likely a group of four men.

"The only way we can find these men is...for them to kill again." Prentiss said what everyone was thinking.

"Prentiss is right, they don't have any signatures yet. They might get confident and mess up." Hotch said. "Let's all get some rest and start fresh in the morning."

Spencer made his way down the hall of the hotel to his room. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out his key card, he held it in front of the card reader and it beeped, allowing him to open the door. He put the card back in his pocket and opened the door.

"Amber?" He asked as he shut the door behind him.

"Yes," Amber sang as she emerged from the bathroom.

Spencer turned around to look at her and his jaw dropped, she was wearing a long black strapless dress, it hugged her body,Spencer never realized how great of a figure she had until now. She always hid under baggy shirts or pants. She also had on black matching high heels. Her hair was up in a fancy bun and she was wearing diamond earrings.

"I...uh...Um...when..when did you get that?" Spencer tried to ask as coolly as possible.

"I bought it today," she said as she walked over to him. " I texted the team earlier, that when you guys got back, we were going out to dinner. A fancy place down the street and not to tell you."

"I don't have anything to aren't we having a party when we get home?"

"Yes you do," Amber said as

she motioned her head to the bed. Spencer walked over to the bed and a black and white suit laid nice and neatly on the bed. "And yes, but this is just a nice dinner, the party will be more secluded." Amber added.

"Wow," Spencer said, absolutely astonished by his girlfriend. "How'd you get my..."

"Garcia." Amber answered before he got to finish his sentence.

He bobbed his head up and down a few times. "Of course, why did I even ask..."

"Hurry,go get ready, we are meeting them in the lobby in ten." Spencer quickly set down his bag and walked over to the bed. He carefully scooped up the suit and slipped into the bathroom shutting the door behind him. Amber walked over to the dresser and smoothed out her dress. It's kind of...tight. She admitted to herself. She began to fix her hair, making sure it was perfect. Moments later she heard the bathroom door open, she hesitated to look, because she knew her breath was about to be taken away. She looked over at Spencer and she was right. "wow….Spence….." was all she could get out. The tux fit him perfectly, it looked as though it was made for him.

"You don't think it's too tight?" he asked as he walked over to the dresser and looked at himself in the mirror.

"You look so handsome," Amber answered as she took his face in her hands, she gently kissed his lips and smiled at him. She slowly let go of his face, letting her hands drop back down to her side. She watched him as he fiddled with this suit, trying to decide if he wanted to keep on the suit. "Come on," she said tugging on his arm. "they are waiting." Amber grabbed a tiny black sequined bag and put the skinny silver chain strap over her shoulder. She walked over to the door, she opened it and waited for Spencer to walk over to her. She wrapped her arm around his, locking them together and the two exited the room as Spencer shut the door behind them.
