Chapter: 25

For the first time in a week Sian's luck finally started to look up.

When Grey gave her ten addresses and told her that one of them was Charles Siemens she didn't think much about it. That was natural, seeing that she was exhausted and she hadn't had this much of a rough day since her mother's death. She wasn't thinking straight. So she didn't ask him anything about it. She just thought that she'd go and meet with Charles Siemens next day. Hopefully he'd be able to tell her something about the experiments.

The next morning she woke up in the hospital feeling just as exhausted, as she'd felt the night before. She decided to go home and take a shower, she felt bad leaving her dad there all alone, but she had to do it. There was no point in seating around. So she went home, took a shower, had some leftover pizzas that only God knows how long had been there, and then she took a look at the paper that had Charles Siemens addresses in it.

And she felt like her eyes were going to bulge out.

"Ten addresses?" She almost yelled at Grey through the phone.

"Yes, I know…"

"WHY?"

"Look," Grey sighed. "If you could just stop yelling maybe I could explain it to you."

"Okay," Sian took a deep breath to calm her. It was a bit too much after the previous day's events, seeing that the addresses were in different parts of New York. Damn, one was in Manhattan, and another one in Mexico!

What the heck?

"Why ten? I mean your wife gave them to you right? Why couldn't she be more specific?"

"I don't know."

"EXCUSE ME?"

"SIAN!"

"All right, okay, I'm calm."

"I do have a theory."

"A theory?" Sian said annoyed.

"Listen she is my wife okay." Grey said impatiently. "I know how she thinks!"

"All right, go on."

Grey sighed. "I think this Charles guy was someone who helped her with all these and maybe she trusted him enough to tell him everything."

"So you think this dude knows everything?"

"Yes."

"Everything as in everything about everything. Even Experiment 000333?"

"Yum-muh…. possibly…"

"Possibly?" She snapped. "What do you mean possibly?! And it still doesn't explain why she gave you ten addresses!"

"I don't know it's just a theory and well I think she wanted to make sure that if I ever got into any danger I had someone to help me. So they picked up ten different addresses but they couldn't be specific incase somehow Itex got a hold of them. I think he moves constantly so nobody can find him. But whenever he moves he always stays inside these addresses."

"So, you're a hundred percent sure that he'll be in one of these?"

"That's what she said."

"Well, what if he's in Mexico?"

"We're gonna have to take that chance."

"But what if…"

"Look, let's just check the ones in New York, if we don't find him then we'll think about what to do next, okay?"

So, that led Sian here.

This was her fourth address, the three before this had been empty for a long time now. Though the second one had been emptied a year ago.

But this one wasn't empty. Someone actually opened the door.

Huh! Shocker!

So yeah, luck was finally with her it seemed.

She looked at the man standing on the doorway. He looked around sixty, his hair was gray and he had pale blue eyes. He smiled at her; a very gentle and trusting smile and his eyes twinkled.

"Hello."

Sian smiled. "Hi. I was looking for Charles Siemens."

His smile faltered only for a second before he put it back again. "No, I'm sorry, I think you've got the wrong house." He tried to close the door but stopped abruptly.

"Daniel Grey sent me." Sian almost yelled but lowered her voice when she saw that he had stopped and talked normally. "You're him, right? Charles Siemens?"

He stared at her for a moment, like he was trying to decide if he should trust her or not, then he started to close the door again.

"Wait here."

Sian obeyed him and stood there what seemed like five minutes. Then he opened the door again. This time his face was more guarded.

"Daniel Grey sent you?" Sian nodded. "And who is Daniel Grey?"

Sian was about to answer his question when a thought occurred to her. "How do I know I can trust you?"

He scoffed. "Kid, you came to me asking if I am Charles Siemens and now you're asking me how would you know if you can trust me or not?"

Okay. It sounded stupid. Sian scowled. "Well, you didn't answer me, did you? Are you Charles Siemens?"

The man sighed. "Look, we're going nowhere like this…"

"I know about Experiment 000333."

"What?" His face went pale.

"I know about…"

"Okay I heard you first time." The man who was possibly Charles Siemens rubbed his eyes. "Who told you about her?"

Sian hesitated. Well, whatever, the bullet was already shot right? "Daniel Grey."

"And what do you want?"

"I want to know about them, the experiments."

"And what will you do after you know?"

Sian hesitated again. Was he really Charles Siemens? Oh, heck. Whatever. She didn't have anything else to loose right? She'd have to take this risk. "We're going against Itex, me and Agent Grey."

He nodded. "Stay here."

He was again gone for five minutes. When he came back again he had a piece of paper in his hand.

"Here" He gave her the paper. "Go to this address, if you can convince her she'll tell you everything you want to know. I can't do anything other than that."

"But…"

And he slammed the door on her face.

Sian looked at the piece of paper again. Yep, this is it. She knocked on the door.

Janice Woodcomb, here I come.

This time, a woman in her thirty opened the door. But unlike Charles Siemens she glared at her. Her blond hair was up in a messy ponytail and her blue eyes had bags under them. She looked a little crazy and Sian would admit that she was a bit scared at the sight of her. She considered going back and calling Grey (which she should've done before coming) but decided against it.

"Hi." She smiled her brightest smile. "I was looking for Janice Woodcomb?"

Like Charles Siemens, her face darkened but she didn't close the door right away. "Sorry, you've got the wrong address."

Sian didn't mean to but she scoffed. "Can you stop saying that? I know you're Janice Woodcomb. Charles Siemens sent me."

"You've definitely got the wrong address." This time she did try to close the door but before she even knew what she was doing, Sian pushed her right hand between the gap and the door crashed on her wrist.

She yelped in pain but held back her scream. God that hurt!

Janice Woodcomb opened the door again and grasped her injured hand.

"Are you nuts?" She yelled. "You're supposed to stuck your foot not your hand, you idiot!"

Well, it did hurt a lot and Sian now had a cast on her wrist, which was sprained, but it did have its perks.

Sian got to talk and got her to admit that she was indeed Janice Woodcomb.

She was now sitting in her kitchen as Janice Woodcomb bandaged her hand.

"You should do an x-ray." She said. "Though I don't think it's serious."

"I need to talk to you about Experiment 000333." She shoot right away.

Janice sighed. "Figured. He wouldn't have sent you to me otherwise." She finished bandaging and looked at her. "How did you know about Charles?"

Sian hesitated. "I have my ways."

"Then how did you know about Itex?"

"Three days ago one of their escaped experiments crashed with my car." Sian said, reliving the memory. "She was badly injured and I took her to the hospital. She…uh…she didn't make it but she gave me a some papers and I knew from there." It was half-truth. But, well, Sian didn't trust her.

"And what do you want to do now?" She demanded.

Sian thought, Janice would know what she wanted to do if she contacted Charles Siemens. Sian was stupid enough to tell him the truth.

"I want to bring down Itex."

"And you're planning to do this with the help of 000333?"

She nodded.

"Go home Ms. Dent." Janice got up.

"Excuse me?" Sian got up too. "But I thought you were going to tell me about…"

"Yes, and that was if you could convince me. But I'm sorry…" Janice scowled. "Because it wasn't enough. I don't trust you and I don't believe you. But if you are saying the truth…then I suggest that you go home and forget about it. Believe me when I say…" Her cold eyes stared at her, unmoving and nonexistence of emotions. "That this people, they will stop at nothing to prevent you. They will destroy you and ruin your life and they will burn you up."
