Chapter nineteen

*6 months later*

Lauren woke up in her familiar surroundings, she sighed to herself. Things had got pretty bad in the past couple of months.

She turned to her side feeling the familiar empty space. After everything her and Joey had been through, and now he had just disappeared.

The morning six months ago, she remembered she thought Joey had left her, she learnt that him and her mum had a chat the night before. It turned out, Joey had just nipped to the shop to fetch some milk.

He'd been so nice to her that day, he'd took get back to bet to get some rest, he laid with her and told her hoe much he loved her until she had eventually fallen back to sleep.

It wasn't until the next morning that things changed. She woke up with that sick feeling again. As she threw up in the bathroom she noticed she hadn't seen joey laying next to her in bed.

He never came to hold her hair back or to see if she was okay either. By the time she had finished in the bathroom the worry about Joey had left her, he promised her he would stay and love her.

She went downstairs and her mum was gone too. She found a note from her mum telling her she had gone to a job interview.

Lauren smiled at this, she was proud of her mum for getting on with her life and being a proper mum.

She sat on the sofa and took some paracetamol, before she knew it she was waking up from sleeping on the sofa. She looked at the click and she had been asleep for three hours.

She searched the house and there was still no Joey. She used the house phone to ring him but had no luck.

She gave up after ringing him four times and she decided to go out and get some air. She found herself knocking at Max's front door, she missed him quite a bit.

*flash back*

"Hey sweetie, what you doing here?" Max asked her. "I just went for a walk and ended up here didn't i" she smiled.

"Come in ten babe, where's Joey?" He asked, shutting the foot behind him.

"I've got no idea, him and mum weren't in the house when I woke up and I can't get them in there phones" she sighed.

Max furrowed his eyebrows together, that was strange. "Try ringing him again babe, he might answer or he might even be at home waiting for you" max said.

Lauren nodded and took her mobile out of her bag. She furrowed her eyebrows together when she saw a sticky note attached to her phone.

Max looked concerned as he saw the tears streaming down her cheeks rapidly. "Lauren?" He asked as Abi and Tanya came through, Also looking concerned. He took the note from her and read it out.

Lauren,
I'm so sorry babe, I can't do it. I will love you always but I'm not the right person to teach you the tight way of life, my love won't be enough for you to realise right and wrong ways of life. I love you darling. Joey. Xxx

*end of flashback*

Now Lauren was living by herself, she wasn't exactly on best terms with her mum after Joey left. Lauren blamed Mary for him leaving.

Lauren didn't need joey to give her life lessons she just wanted him to love her like she loved him, but her mum had told joey he needed to teach her the way if life. So that's why Lauren blamed Mary for everything.

Lauren thought that it was Mary that got messed up the most by her dad, Lauren was fine, it was Mary who struggled.

Lauren sat down at the table with her cup of tea, she preferred coffee but her condition didn't allow that anymore.

She looked around and she was proud of how far she' come. She was working as a children's designer, she was at the tip of the firm and she was earning a lot of money, money which paid for this beautiful house spotted next door to max and Tanya.

She looked down at the picture in front of her, causing her to smile widely. She wasn't even upset with Joey anymore just angry. He was too weak to just stay and deal with things while Lauren grew stronger, he was the one missing out and if he thought he could waltz back in at any time he was mistaken, sadly mistaken.

Lauren sighed happily, it was just Lauren and her little girl now.
