It was finally the day of the presentation.
Most of the class were freaking out over 'how they'd done everything at the last minute'. That was near enough everyone bar Arthur, Francis, Gilbert, Matthew, Antonio, Lovino (And after something that had happened to Lovino's family at the weekend, most people were surprised), Kiku and Alfred.
Since the tables were of four and six in the classroom, the Bad Touch Trio were at one table while the other five mentioned were at another.
"The Awesome Me is actually surprised, but he is actually pretty proud of his work. And I actually did quite a bit, before you say anything, since Birdie let us do Europe since I know more about it."
"Congrats, amigo!" Antonio grinned. "Same here!"
"Hey, what happened to Lovino and his brother at the weekend? I heard something happened and that was it."
"…I'm not allowed to tell unless I want my throat ripped out and to be burnt at the stake."
"Wow, even after all that he's threatening you like he normally does? It obviously didn't make him any nicer!"
"Gilberto! I know what happened and if I was allowed to tell you, you seriously wouldn't be saying that, even if it wasn't Lovino they'd get mad!"
"Alright, the Awesome Me apologises! Hey, Fanny, you dick, you're being quiet."
Francis rolled his eyes. "First, you know I hate it when you call me Fanny, and calling me dick straight after makes no sense. Second, where does it state that I have to speak permanently?"
"Gott, Francis, why are you in such a foul mood today?!"
"I just had a bad night's sleep. Also, doesn't everyone get into a foul mood every once in a while? For example, last Tuesday with you?"
"My boyfriend was in hospital because he was cutting himself and I didn't do anything! You'd be in a bad mood if it was Arthur!"
"Maybe I have a reason to be in a bad mood as well?"
"What is it then." Gilbert hated his natural voice and tried to speak higher, but he had gone back to his lower voice. Also, when he went back to his lower voice, it meant he was going to snap if you took a wrong step.
"I…I lost someone else very closer to me other than Papa and today's the anniversary she passed. What if I told you two I had a little sister?"
"Was?!"
"Why didn't you tell us, amigo?"
Francis' eyebrows lowered sadly. "I didn't tell you because-" Francis' voice cracked. "-Because every time I think about it, I start crying!" With that, a tear came out of each eye, the salty liquid landing on his lips.
"You don't have to tell us if you don't want-" Antonio started before he was cut off.
"I might as well tell you since you know about her now." Francis said, speaking so quickly that between the two of them, Gilbert and Antonio could only just comprehend on what he was saying. "Her name was Joan, she was eighteen months younger than me. We didn't look alike at all, but I can assure you we were siblings. Papa spent most of his time in hospital with his Cancer after she was born until he died, so she accepted his death more than I did. Later when our mother started taking drugs, she beat Joan to death while she was high…"
"Holy shit, I never expected you to be a big brother."
"I'm sorry about the loss of your little sister amigo."
Francis sighed softly. "I miss her, but I know I've got to look forward to the present and future instead of the past. And anyway, where's sir so we can start this actual presentation?"
~x~
Meanwhile, on the other table Arthur, Alfred, Matthew, Kiku and Lovino were sat at, the conversation was also quite deep.
"Hey, Arthur, you never told me or Mattie where you went yesterday."
"I went to see my older brother."
"Our dad told us that you weren't allowed to see them until you were sixteen or they wanted contact with you."
"They did. Blain invited me over to see him."
"It's kinda stupido that you aren't allowed contact with your own brothers." Lovino said. "I mean, you share DNA and you're blocked off from your own family. Since I don't know my padre or any of his family, I know how shit it feels. Yours must be even worse than mine though- My padre left with a reason I'm not allowed to know, your father just left you without a reason, right?"
Arthur nodded. "From what I've heard though, I'm glad I never met my dad. He sounds horrible."
"Is he a criminal or something like a criminal, if you don't mind me asking?" Kiku asked.
"He should be in jail but he's not. Blain is too scared to call the police because our father's still Dyllan's guardian and he doesn't want him sent off somewhere he'll have no contact with him until he's an adult."
Kiku nodded slightly. "I understand. My father is in jail serving life sentence."
"Hey, Honda bro, why didn't you tell me?" Alfred asked. "I told you about my family so why didn't you tell me about yours?"
"I didn't tell you about my family because Yao-Sensei didn't want me telling everyone and then they'd persuade me to go and find him. Since we were on the topic of criminal parents, I thought it'd be appropriate to the topic, excuse me if it wasn't. And since I was less than a year old when my father killed my mother and he left me in the field where Yao-Sensei found me, I've grown up with Yao-Sensei, Yong-Soo and all of Yao-Sensei's other adoptive children and they've become my family. And Alfred-Kun, I did tell you that Honda was my surname and in Japan they reverse the first name and surname around, multiple times. Honda is my surname, and Kiku is my first name. I'd prefer if you'd call me by that. Also, I am not your 'bro', we both have siblings of our own and we are not each other's siblings."
"Sorry Hon-Kiku. Anyway, why are you in a worse mood than you are usually?"
"Kaoru was around all last night and Yong-Soo had a habit of getting him annoyed so they usually argue. It kept me up until they both were knocked out by Yao-Sensei's Wok. Also, Heracles-Kun and Sadiq-Kun were fighting and decided to get me involved again. They invaded my personal space which I didn't like."
"Has there been one day they didn't fucking fight? They're probably gay for each other!" Lovino yelled, the currently (surprisingly) fighting Turk and Greek turning to look at the Italian, daggers in their eyes.
"We don't fight. He attacks me for no reason."
"Stop lying Heracles, you set me off on purpose when you know I have anger issues!"
"No, he just attacks people for pure entertainment." Matthew muttered.
"What d'ya say Mattie? I didn't hear you."
"You weren't meant to that time…"
"OK, cool, whatever."
That was when Mr Richardson finally stormed in.
"I apologise for my lateness."
"He gives us fucking detention when we're a millisecond late, and he's fifteen minutes late. And that makes what sense?" Lovino muttered, the rest of the table nodding, even the formal Kiku.
"I see all of you have your folders." Mr Richardson started. "Most of them look thicker than I expected. Let's just say, that most of the project has been to see how you worked together long term. I didn't need you in groups, nor did I need a whole continents work off you."
The class groaned.
"So, I would like to see just one of the countries you have worked on all by yourself, and if you did all of it as a group, then I'm impressed since I put you with people you aren't comfortable with and it was all out of school. Since this is a pretty Multi-Cultural Class, I'm guessing you did a continent at least one of you are from, and did most on your birth country. So, I'd like to see the country you've chosen's work on your desk within five minutes."
The Bad Touch Trio came over to sit at the same table as the other five. Gilbert and Francis dragged chairs over while Antonio decided to sit on Lovino's lap.
"Fuck off tomato bastard!"
"But Lovi, we all know you like tomatoes too~"
"I didn't ask for you to reply, stupid bastard!"
"Fusososo~ Well you've got two now!"
Lovino muttered several curses in Italian under his breath.
"So, Kiku, which did I do best at?"
"You did quite well at the Asian part of Russia."
"The Asian part of Commieland? Fuck yeah!"
"Mr Jones, don't swear in my classroom!"
"I apologise Sir. I will never do it ever again."
"Stop mocking me, Mr Jones, before you get into serious trouble for it."
"It'd be worth it."
The teacher didn't reply.
"So, Birdie, since the rest of us did Europe and just chose our home countries, what are you choosing?"
"Umm…I have no idea."
"Just do France then, since you're French-Canadian."
"Oh, alright…"
"It's kind of a waste that he got us to do a whole Continent when really he only wanted one country." Arthur said. "The other 48 countries we worked on were for nothing."
"I think he wanted to see if we'd manage to do all of it. He might read the others, but just wants to see our best because that's the one he'll grade us on."
"Yeah right. The bastard's too lazy to go through all of it, he probably won't even go through these. He'll just give us our grade depending on whether he likes us or not."
"I'm done for, then." Alfred said.
"Same here."
"And here."
"And here."
The teacher surprisingly let them talk the whole lesson instead of presenting their projects, so the bell for lunch quickly rung.
"Awesomeness!" Gilbert yelled, going straight for the door. Nobody said a thing.
Everyone else slowly came out of the classroom, most people finding out why they got such an easy lesson. Mr Richardson had fallen asleep.
Arthur was one of the last ones out of the class, to find he was dragged elsewhere as soon as he left the room. Francis.
"We have not spoken all day and I'm starting to fell rejected!"
"Well, you feel rejected quite easily."
"It's not my fault, mon amour!"
"Then who's is it? The fairy at the bottom of the gardens?"
"…I don't know, but I don't have a garden."
"It's a phrase, frog."
"You're dating me but you're still calling me a frog?"
"Yes, and there's nothing you can do about it."
"But when you call me a frog I feel upset because it makes me feel like you don't love me."
"Tough luck."
"…Can I kiss you?"
"Really? In the middle of the school?"
"No-one's in this building bar Mr. Richardson, and he's going to be out for a while."
"If you shut up and don't ask for another kiss in school again, which I highly doubt you'll do, then I guess I'll let you just do it once. And no tongues!"
Francis didn't listen to him at all. His tongue was in his mouth almost immediately and since they had been next to a door, Francis had pushed him against it, and the door opened, the two falling into the room.
"Mmm, Francis, stop, that really hurt my back."
Francis did stop, but because of a different reason entirely.
"Ah, ah, ah…"
Mr Richardson was awake, and had watched the whole thing.
"Did we disturb your nap, sir?" Francis asked innocently.
The teacher didn't say anything for a second, until he blurted it out. "You fucking homosexuals! Go to fucking hell!"
"Teachers get sacked for swearing here, you know. I heard from my brother that the Geography teacher before you left because he told all the students to go fuck themselves." Arthur said. "Anyway, there's about eighteen or nineteen countries have accepted it, and ninety support it, as well as this country, so I don't see why you need to freak out so much, it's not as if we're against the law. Lots of people in this school are, gay, as are some of the teachers probably."
"Just…fuck this school!" And with that, Mr Richardson left the school, never to be seen again.
"Well it seems we've just made a bad teacher leave, ri-?"
Arthur was cut off by Francis kissing him again.
"Gah! I didn't give you permission that time!" Arthur yelled once the Frenchman had finished.
"I was finishing off what I started~"
"Creepy Frog."
Francis smiled softly "I love you too~"
Thanks for reading the main story for Differences: Childhood! Now all that's left is the Epilogue and I have decided to do a Chapter 4.5 (Where Arthur meets his brothers) after. I'm not sure whether to do it in Dyllan's or Blain's POV though, which would you prefer?
