[Blows some dust off the cahpter] There's a bit of the old stuff in this chapter, perhaps you guys can recognize it. And oops, I forgot to update yesterday, my bad. I do not own Yugioh or the style of the shoes, enjoy!

Chapter 19

Yugi sighed as he walked up Malik's drive, and around to his bedroom window. He knew better than to knock on the front door, that got Malik in heaps of trouble the last time Ryou and he did it. He tapped softly on the glass, and waited until it was opened. Yugi slipped inside, and sat down next to his friend.

Malik's eye was black and blue, he had an angry red mark across the back of his neck, and his shirt was slightly hitched up to show black and blue marks on his stomach. Yugi got out his suitcase and packed some clothes, and then helped his friend out the window. They took the long way out of Satake's territory, back towards Atem's. Malik just kept muttering about wanting Marik, he just wanted Marik.

"Malik, I think you should just move in with him." Yugi said as they paused to lean against a brick building.

"No, I have to take care of the household, that's my job." Malik said in a whisper.

"If you stay there any longer, she's going to kill you, her and her boyfriend both." Yugi said back.

"No, I have to stay, I have to." Malik said back as Yugi re-took his arm around his shoulders and re-picked up his suitcase, as they made their way towards Atem's warehouse again. Yugi sighed, he knew he couldn't force Malik to do anything; it had to be of his own free will that he wanted to get out of the bad situation he was in.

They stopped again, Malik only being able to make several dozen steps before he needed to rest. A Servant ran past them, only to come back and really take them in. Yugi motioned for him to move along with a cold look. He did, but he looked as if he was on a mission or something as he took off. Yugi sighed as Malik nodded and they started moving again.

Yugi and Malik made it to Atem's warehouse safely only to find it deserted. Yugi sat Malik down on one of the fire hydrant red couches. He wandered down the hallway looking for someone. He came across their kitchen and had to back out just as quickly, it was disgusting. It looked worse than that kitchen in the Anime Fruits Basket. He continued wandering down the hallway, taking in each room, but no people. Sighing in frustration, he walked back out to the living room he supposed, only to see Marik and Atem there. Marik was fretting over Malik, and Atem was watching with something akin to amusement.

"Oh, good you're here, Marik. Well, I'll just go now." Yugi said trying to walk past them. Atem grabbed his upper arm in a tight grip.

"What were you doing back there?" he asked.

"Looking for people." Yugi said trying to get his arm loose as the blood was no longer flowing like it should be.

"How did Malik get like this?" he asked.

"His sister, let go." Yugi said pawing at his hand. Atem let go, and Yugi shook his arm to get the blood flowing again.

"How long has this been going on?" Atem asked looking him directly in the eyes.

"Long enough." Yugi answered looking away.

"I said, how long has this been going on?" Atem asked gripping his chin and forcing him to look at him.

"It's not my business to tell you." Yugi said pushing him away.

"You better make it your business really quick, Mutou!" Atem snarled.

"No. I'll pick you up tomorrow, okay, Malik." Yugi said firmly glaring at the man in front of him before leaning around to talk gently to his friend on the couch. He nodded slightly.

"Atem, Marik." He said nodding to the two men before taking his leave.

He heard angry stomps behind him, so he grabbed a familiar ladder and quickly shimmied his way up and onto the roof. He ran across it, jumping to his own across Mira's border. He looked back to see Atem glaring at him, and he did something very immature, but didn't really care at the moment, he stuck his tongue back out at him. Atem rolled his eyes, before Yugi slipped into his bedroom from the skylight.

He sighed; tomorrow his Grandpa would be at peace. He probably already was, but tomorrow it would be official. He had tried to get a plot next to his parents, but there weren't any, so he had to do with a few plots closer to the gates. He glanced at his clock to see that it read 3:54 pm. He might as well get his homework done. Grabbing his school bag, he pulled out his homework, and got to work.

[Atem]

He was tired of Marik bitching about Malik, so he was going to take care of this once and for all. He charged up the Ishtar's driveway, and pounded on the door. It opened and a bulky muscular man was standing in the doorway. He had blonde hair and grey eyes, and was a good foot taller than him, but that didn't faze Atem in the slightest as he punched him cleanly across the jaw, knocking him back into the house. He gave a roar of anger and charged at Atem, he simply dodged him and shut the door behind him, locking it.

"Raphael, who is it baby?" Ishizu asked coming around the corner.

"What kind of sick bitch beats their own little brother?" Atem asked.

"What I do in my household is none of your business." She sneered. Atem had her pinned to the wall by her throat in seconds.

"It is when my Advisor doesn't stop bitching about it." Atem growled at her.

"Well, then perhaps he should keep his nose out of other's business." She said kicking Atem in the stomach sending him flying back.

"Well, even in my own warehouse, we have dinner around five, not noon." Atem hissed getting up.

"That bitch is talking?! Oh, his beating is going to be worse when he gets back home, he knows he's not supposed to talk." Ishizu snarled.

"He's never coming back here, I won't allow it. I'm taking over care and responsibility for him." Atem said smirking at her angered expression.

"Well, if he isn't here, who's supposed to do the laundry, dishes, cooking, cleaning? Huh? Who's supposed to do it?!" she shrieked at him.

"Not my problem." Atem said walking back towards where Malik said his room would be.

"Where are you going?!" she screamed behind him.

He walked into Malik's room and grabbed the picture that he described off his desk, as well as his backpack. He packed clothes into it, and other small things he thought Malik would want. When he was done he set the picture down on top, zipped it up, and swung the bag over his shoulder.

He round housed kicked Raphael in the head on his way down the hallway, sending the brute tumbling to the ground. He shoved Ishizu out of the way and left, running out of Satake's territory. As he was passing through the park he came across the man himself, smoking a cigarette and leaning against a tree.

"Can I help you with something, Atem?" he asked approaching him.

"No, I got all I needed thanks." Atem said motioning to the bag on his shoulder. He really wanted to ask where his Servant was, but that would only raise a red flag that he didn't want.

"So I no longer have to worry about Malik, huh?" Satake asked blowing the smoke from his cigarette in his face.

"No, you don't. I'll be looking after him now." Atem said coughing and waving the smoke away.

"What makes you think you even have that right?" Satake asked dropping his cigarette to the grounded stomping it out.

"You sold him to me." Atem said simply walking off.

"He's still my General's younger brother." Satake shouted after him.

"Then she should have appreciated him better." Atem called back before moving into his territory.

"Whatever!" he called out to him. Atem turned back to see him already walking away and lighting another cigarette too. He shook his head, and continued to walk back to his warehouse. Malik was a basket case, and frankly he didn't want one, but he had bought it, so he had to deal with it.

[Satake]

"Well?" Ishizu asked as soon as he opened her door.

"There's nothing I can do. I sold your brother to him, remember?" Satake asked as he blew the cigarette smoke back out the open door.

"But that bitch needs to be here to cook and clean! That's why he was put on this Earth, to serve me in my every need!" Ishizu screamed at him. Satake backhanded her across the face.

"Woman was put here on Earth for those needs, and no man should have to suffer the need to do a woman's job." Satake said harshly.

"Right, I was out of line Captain." Ishizu said in a meek voice.

"You deserve your loss, and I will not fight to get it back any longer." Satake said coldly before leaving.

Ishizu dropped to her knees crying as soon as he was gone. She had lost her entire family now, and her brother, her brother had turned his back on her. She had no one, no one but an abusive boyfriend now. Now that her brother was no longer in the house, she would be on the receiving end of all of his anger again. And if Satake found out about it, he would kill him, and then beat her for being such a coward and weak thing. Unless, unless, she took care of him now, before he could do anything.

Ishizu went to her drawer in the kitchen and took out her gun. She walked down the hallway, which seemed much longer than it usually was. She aimed the gun at his head and pulled the trigger.

BANG!

His blood splattered on the walls, pictures, and her. It pooled at her feet, escaping his open head wound. Satake walked up behind her, and put a hand on her shoulder. She had finally done it, she had shot the bastard, he had his General back at last.

"Now, I will fight to get your brother back." Satake said before turning to leave.

"Don't." Ishizu said quietly.

"Sorry?" he asked.

"Don't, he's safer where he is, more loved." Ishizu said still looking down at the corpse that was her boyfriend.

"Fine, I will not." Satake said before he left for real this time.

"So, she's back to normal now?" Takaido asked.

"Yes, we have our General back. Thank Kami, I was running out of excuses for Malik's school Nurse as to why I was letting his ass get beat on regular basis." Satake sighed out.

"He's no longer our problem though." Takaido pointed out.

"No, he's not." Satake said looking up at the bright blue sky. He looked back down at the dark grey cement before walking back to his warehouse, to page Penny and see where she was with the plan.

[Sunday]

Yugi yawned as he got up, and out of bed. He went downstairs to fix himself eggs Benedict, before going back upstairs and into his room. Yugi opened his closet and pulled out a tux. The tux was made of an expensive black cloth that was easily wrinkled. The shirt to go with the tux was an amethyst silk button down shirt, and the tie was also made of silk and was black. It had even come with a pocket handkerchief that was an amethyst color too. The last time Yugi had worn this outfit he had been going to an interview for a scholarship at Tokyo University. Now though, now he was wearing it for a much more morbid celebration. It was so depressing he barely wanted to think it.

Sighing, Yugi shed his clothes and went across the hall to take a shower. When his shower was done, he went back to his bedroom in only a towel wrapped around his hips. Pulling out a pair of briefs, he put them on under the towel, and then removed it. Slowly, ever so slowly Yugi pulled on the pants, shirt and tucked it into the pants, the tie, the jacket, and black socks. Last he pulled on his Vibram: Sole Italian Leather Oxford Shoes. He still couldn't believe that his Grandpa had bought such expensive shoes for him. Still, his Grandpa had said 'that a first impression should be the best impression.' Yugi looked at himself in his long mirror that was hanging on the inside of his closet door. Figuring he looked his best, Yugi left the house, grabbing the gun form under the counter, and headed towards his first destination.

Yugi knocked on the door, and Olivia answered it, frowning at him. He shuffled his feet slightly, before Caroline appeared, and presented his arm to her. She took it giving her sister an exasperated look, before they headed off to their next destination. Yugi had her wait out of a specific alleyway, slipping her his gun. He didn't trust Atem to not show up.

Yugi walked into Atem's territory to get Malik, they were meeting Ryou at his house where Kaiba would pick them up. He fiddled with is tie before knocking on the warehouse doors. A Servant opened them, and gaped at Yugi. He sighed and shoved past him, finding Malik already dressed and ready on the couch. Malik got up, wincing slightly, and walked back out with Yugi.

The three walked to Ryou's in silence. They walked up his steps, and knocked. Ryou opened the door, motioning for them to be quiet as Amane was still sleeping. Yugi, Malik, and Caroline quietly snuck in. they sat on the couch as Ryou went to wake up Amane, and get her dressed. Twenty minutes later, and Kaiba's limo had pulled up outside of the house.

They left the house and piled into the limo with Amane was sitting on Ryou's lap. Caroline had her head lying on his shoulder. Malik was sitting by a window. Kaiba had his arm wrapped around Jou and Mokuba in his lap. The only presence missing was Honda, and it made Yugi tear up slightly just thinking about the male.

Standing outside the black iron gates, Yugi hesitated, but ended up pushing them open anyway. After all his destination was inside, and the quickest way to get to it, was to use the front entrance. Yugi walked through the quiet area, nothing stirred, not that he expected anything to. Stopping before a giant hole in the ground, Yugi looked to the left of it and saw the coffin sitting serenely next to the hole that had been dug for it. Looking above the hole, Yugi saw the tombstone for his Grandfather.

Here lies

Solomon Julian Mutou

A beloved Grandfather and friend, he will be missed by all.

July 5, 1927-May 2, 2013

Rest in peace old man.

Yugi smiled, they had inscribed it on the tombstone exactly as he had written it. Yugi felt a few tears leak from his eyes as he stared back down at the hole that they were going to place his Grandfather in. Flowers were already laid out around it. It was perfect; everything he had paid for was here. The hole, the coffin, the tombstone, the ceremony, and flowers, he had paid for the entire funeral out of the money he had won from competitions, and there had just been enough to cover it all too.

Yugi waited with his friends as Rebecca, Vivian, Mira, and Serenity showed up. Last to come up behind him was the priest he had been able to hire for the length of the service. It was only a half hour, but it was something.

The funeral was short, it talked about how good of a man that his Grandfather was, and how he was in a better place watching over them. How he would be waiting until our own times came, and we could join him in everlasting peace. Then everyone dumped a bouquet into the hole. Yugi picked one up and pulled out four roses, and let the rest of the bouquet drop into his Grandfather's grave. The machine that held his Grandfather's coffin in straps lowered it down into the grave, and they all grabbed a shovel and buried him. Once he was completely covered in fresh dirt, Yugi laid one of the four roses on the mound of dirt. Yugi then turned and started to walk further back among the tombstones, to the ones that he and his Grandfather used to visit together. He stopped in front of two tombstones; they stood right next to each other. A few more tears slipped down his cheeks. These tombstones reminded him of how alone he truly was in the world. The first one was a woman's.

Here lies

Sarah Marie Mutou

A Mother, a Daughter, and beloved Wife

January 26, 1971-September 18, 1998

And directly underneath it

Here lies

Sakura Anne Mutou

A life that never got the chance to live

I would have been born December 20, 1998,

if only I had been given the chance to live that long.

The second tombstone belonged to a man.

Here lies

Takeshi Aaron Mutou

A Father, a Son, and beloved Husband

June 13, 1969-September 18, 1998

His parents, he had only been three years old when they had been killed in a shooting at the park. Yugi crouched down and placed two of the roses on top of his Mother's grave, and the other on his Father's. He felt more tears slip down his face as he stood back up.

He only had pictures of their faces, and that was the only thing preventing him of forgetting what they looked like. He had already forgotten everything else. The way his Mother's voice sounded when she sang him to sleep. The way his Father greeted his Mother when she came home after running an errand for her friend Lucy, Mira's Mother. The way his parents used to hold him between them, when he was scared during a lightning storm. The way they smelled, he had even forgotten that. Though, he vowed that by having pictures of them hanging on his wall, he would never forget what they had looked like. He didn't think he could forgive himself if he ever forgot something as important as that.

"Take care of the old man for me, and continue to watch out for my safety. I'm to graduate soon; I only have five weeks of school left. Being a senior, I don't have to show up for the last week of school. I plan on moving out of this God forsaken town during that week anyway. I'm going to study how to be a Chef and then move to a Europe, and settle down with a good wife and make lots of kids. I won't let the Mutou line die out with me. Just don't tell anyone my plans; they think I'm coming back here as soon as I finish College. I think the only one who didn't buy that was Malik and Kaiba, they're much too perceptive. I have to get to Kaiba's now, that's where we're celebrating Grandfather's life here on Earth. I love you all, and miss you very much." Yugi said before getting out of his crouch and standing up.

He walked back through the tombstones, past his Grandfather's, and back towards the pathway out of the cemetery. Yugi was the last one out, so he closed the black iron gates just like he had been the one to open them. Letting his hand linger on the cool metal, Yugi turned and headed for Kaiba's limo which was idling nearby.

As he was to step into the car, he saw a flash of multicolored hair out of his peripheral vision. He turned towards it, to see Atem leaning against a light pole. He glared at the man, and quickly got into the limo.

The nerve of him, even after Yugi told him to stay away and Mira too, he still showed up. It was like he was just testing his patience or something. Yugi wasn't in the mood for his games, now or ever. He was sick of them, he was sick of him. He huffed and got out of Kaiba's limo behind Ryou, to help Caroline out.

They just sat around snacking and sharing stories of his Grandfather. Most of them had them laughing, while at other times cringing at something that they had done to make him upset. At one point Yugi got up and went outside to throw some hoops for a little bit. When he came back inside they had ordered Chinese for dinner, which made Yugi pout slightly, he had wanted to cook. He just shrugged it off though, and put some orange chicken, beef and broccoli, egg rolls, and fried rice on a plate and sat down to eat with everyone else. Jou was telling a story that he remembered of when he, Malik, Ryou, and Yugi had gotten into a disagreement with the old man.

"Right, so he grounded Yugi, and wouldn't let him out of the house for two weeks." Jou said finishing the story.

"That wasn't even my fault. You were the one who started the argument in the first palace Jou. He just punished me because he couldn't punish you." Yugi said through his laughter.

"I know, it made me grateful that I wasn't his Grandson at the moment." Jou said back.

"I still can't believe you actually remember what the argument was even about." Malik said shaking his head.

"Hey I still believe that with a fire boost magic card that the flames swordsman would eliminate the Dark Magician." Jou said.

"You want to test that theory?" Yugi asked.

"Nah, I didn't bring my deck with me." Jou said shrugging it off.

"That's okay, we can duel during lunch tomorrow." Yugi said shrugging it off.

"Uh, I mean I lost my deck." Jou amended.

"Uh huh, you just don't want to duel me." Yugi said his eyes drooping in amusement.

"Who would, you always win." Jou said back.

"Touché." Yugi said putting his hands up in mock defeat.

"Yugi, I need to get home." Caroline whispered in his ear flashing him a text message from her sister under the table.

Okay, you're done mourning your fake bf's Grandfather now. Come home! ~Olivia

"Okay." Yugi said getting up.

"Where're you going?" Jou asked.

"I have to get Caroline home, her sister demands it." Yugi said throwing his paper plate away and going to get her coat.

"Okay, I'll come with you." Malik said.

"Us too." Ryou said walking over to where Amane was seated in booster seat and picking her up.

"You want a ride?" Kaiba asked.

"That's probably best." Yugi said glancing out at the dark black sky.

He snapped his fingers, and his limo driver was there to tend to their needs. They piled into the limo, and drove off into the night. Hey dropped off Ryou and Amane first, next was Malik, and Yugi had the driver drop him and Caroline off at Mira's border. Yugi noticed that there seemed to be more activity on the border than usual, but brushed it off as one of Mira's odd drills. It was only as they got closer to Caroline's home, that he figured that seeming was wrong.

There was too much activity in the area, even for being just a drill. Olivia was pacing on the front step. As soon as she saw them though, she seemed to breathe in relief. She grabbed her sister and retreated into the house. Yugi was left on the doorstep without a kiss goodbye. He shoved his hands in his pockets and headed for home. He was almost there when he was grabbed and pinned against a brick wall with a knife at his throat.

"Who are you boy!?" some female was shouting in his face.

"Yugi Mutou." He said back.

"I don't recognize that name as any boyfriend, son, lover, or husband of the girls on files. You should know by now that our King doesn't allow pests to live in her territory, especially not scum like unaccounted for men. Prepare to die here and now." the girl said in a dangerously low voice.

Yugi's chest constricted in fear. She had to be a new Pawn to not have heard about him yet. She wasn't giving him time to plead his case though as he felt a prick of pain on the side of neck, and something wet slip down from that tiny prick of pain. He was dead, he was going to die. He never imagined his death to be at the hands of one of Mira's own, but as he felt the prick of pain move slightly, he knew his end had come, he just hoped he would be buried next to his Grandfather.
