Teardrops
(Part 2 Of The Hospital Trio)
Arnold had been distraught when he'd received the phone call from that hospital. He still couldn't quite come to terms with what had happened. He'd almost lost her, and all because of a jealousy fit. Why had he insisted that she'd been with someone else other than him? Why had he let his co-worker's words affect him so much? His distrust had almost cost him all that he held dear to him, the one person he loved most in this world.
He remembered how he'd called almost everyone he knew with haste, because he could not handle that his most precious was lying on a hospital bed after a horrible accident. And then the slow hours that passed by while waiting on the doctors to treat on her because of her fractured ribs… It had been utter madness. Phoebe and Gerald had tried to calm him down, but it was simply of no use.
Now he had her here, within his arms, alive but barely. And he shed all the tears he had inside of himself, and he silently promised that no matter what, he would never distrust her again. It not just only created problems in their marriage, it could cost someone's life.
"I love you," he kept repeating in between sobs.
"I love you too, Arnold."
And he cried even harder because, even after what had happened, he still had her unconditional love.
