Remy's Pov:
I woke early the next day. My dreams had been filled with gory images of the deaths of Chief Udayan's trusted friends that caused me to shudder just thinking about them. I looked across the tent at Aaya, who was sound asleep with my roll-on deodorant clutched tightly in her hand. I smiled. I showed her all the contents of my bag the night before and she was completely fascinated by the deodorant as I had predicted. I slept in my t-shirt and underwear which was appropriate enough. I swung my legs out from under the blankets and stood up, wincing when I stretched. I always forgot my legs were often tender, for reasons unknown. I padded towards Aaya's bed and snatched my bag up from the ground. I unzipped it and rifled through it, searching for new underwear and a t-shirt. I left my jeans and shoes on the bench in the middle of the tent the night before, making sure they were ready and waiting. I felt so different to when I had been to Neverland two years before. I felt I had a responsibility to be cool and calm at all times, if not for me, for the tribe. I was sure word had broken out as to why I had come back, what I had to do. They were really counting on me again, and I couldn't afford to do something stupid again. I tossed my clothes for the day onto my bed and left my bag behind Aaya's bed, so nobody would fall over it. I stripped off quickly and pulled on my new clothes. I caught sight of the small non-noticeable scar on my chest and sighed, may it be forevermore a mark of my stupidity.
I stuffed my old clothes under the covers of my bed and then tweaked it a little so it looked a bit tidier, and then I went over to the bench and pulled on my jeans and shoes. I peeped over my shoulder at Aaya who was still fast asleep. I slipped outside the tent quietly, and wasn't surprised by the lack of activity outside.
The fire was sprouting small wisps of smoke, and the birds were the only thing to be heard. The trees were silently blowing gently in the breeze, the air fine and cool. The whole camp was still asleep, and it was most definitely earlier than I thought. I caught sight of a mad tangle of blonde hair sprouting from a hammock on my left, and grinned. Out of all the people that had changed since I had come back, Curly was definitely the most stubborn. His forever grouchy facial expression had not even altered in the slightest way, as I had seen the night before. In celebration of my return and my willingness to help, again, the Indians had a feast prepared for the entire village. A huge wooden kind of mat had been laid out across the ground, and a lot of the tents had to be pushed back to make it fit for everybody to sit around it! I could see now that it had been removed, but wooden plates had been laid and strange meat on them for everybody.
"What kind of food is this?," I asked Tootles politely, who was on my right as we sat to eat.
"One of the big crocs," he said cheerfully.
I then took a bit of meat and excused myself. I vaguely remembered giving the meat to a young kid I passed along the way, and as I made my way to the tent I reminded myself that that kid could have been a toddler the last time I had been there.
A big snore interrupted my thoughts and I remembered why I left the tent in the first place. Curly's head was slowly slipping out of his hammock, his tongue slightly poking out of his mouth.
"Curly!," I whispered, so as not to wake the others. "Curly."
He wasn't taking any notice.
"Curly, come on now…" I flicked his head continuously. "Get up!"
He gave a particularly loud snore. I grabbed the far side of his hammock and pulled it upwards, and he rolled out onto the ground. I stepped back just before he reached my feet.
"Wut? Wuzzit?," he mumbled grouchily.
"Come on, you. Get up already."
He looked up at me, squinting at the sunlight.
"Did you have to do that?"
"Yep. Now come on, you're helping me out today."
"Oh, fantastic," he said while getting to his feet, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "I get to help out our very own Heroine of Neverland. How exciting."
"That's the spirit!," I said happily. "So, coming or what?"
"Can't you go wherever you want to go to on your own?," he grumbled as he stood in front of me. "Why d'you drag me along on your little adventures?"
"I'm actually very hurt now. Come on, Curls. You know you want to." I winked at him.
"You really haven't changed."
I sighed. "You're the one who hasn't changed. Come on, I'll explain what we're doing on the way."
Alex's Pov:
"In a minute…ma stop…"
"Alex! Will you come on! Look what Sean found!"
"Eddie…?," I moaned groggily. "What…why are you here?"
I got some feeling in my hands of soft material, and then I remembered everything. I opened my eyes and Eddie's face was staring into mine.
"Ah! Eddie! Get out of me face!"
I got to my feet tiredly and stretched. I saw that wherever we were there wasn't a whole lot of bush, only clusters of trees. We were out in the open.
"How far d'you think we're away from our base?," I asked Eddie, yawning.
"I dunno! Now come on, it's Sean! He's found them!"
"He found Remy? Are you serious? Where!?"
"No not Remy, a trace. I think we're close."
"What is it then?"
"Come on, I'll show you!"
He turned around and sped away from me towards a big bunch of trees well away from our spot. I tore after him. The sooner we found Remy, the sooner we could go back home. Being woken reminded me of something…
Ma. Oh God. I'm done for. I completely forgot about her. She'll be in a right state. She's probably crying or something right now, going out of her mind. I'm very protective of her because of all the failed relationships she's had in the past few years. I know I've been the one pushing them all away but she's never accepted that from the moment I said it to her. The relationships have hurt her a lot because she sometimes thinks she's found "the one". How could I have left her?
Author's Note: Good evening, my beautiful dearies. First of all let me start off by explaining why I haven't updated in months. I've recently come through a kind of very rough patch in my life and honestly I just needed to give myself a break from my usual activities, such as writing for you fabulous lot and sticking it up here. I know this chapter isn't the most generous one in the world, but I've decided that I think I'm ready to starting updating regularly again. I was seriously considering deleting the chapters of the second part of the story and publishing the first part on its own because I didn't want any more disappointed readers coming to find I haven't been updating and think I probably never will. But I just couldn't. I have the ending planned and ready to swing into action... It'll be a good one, trust me. ~G
