Chapter 21.

Choices.

"Adveana, look at me. Look at me." Jared held her head lightly as he stroked his thumbs against her cheeks. Her head was pounding and opening her eyes wasn't on her list of things to do. "Adveana, take a deep breath and count to 5, then open your eyes." She inhaled deeply and counted slowly in her head before parting her lids to look at him.

"That didn't work out as well as I had hoped." She gave him that no shit look and groaned. "I can taste iron." He sighed and held her down. "Don't move, you might have given yourself some brain trauma." Jared got to his feet and pulled out his phone. "No, don't call. I'm fine. Just give me a few moments. I'll be ok."

He silently agreed and watched as she composed herself. "I think we're done for today. Come on, let's get you some food." Adveana got to her feet and glanced at him. "Can we have pasta?" He laughed and nodded. "Of course. Come here." He supported her weight as they started walking. "You're improving. I know it's been hard, but you've gotten so much stronger. Your mother didn't even get this as quickly as you have. She would've been proud."

There was a loud crash down below her that jolted Adveana from her thoughts. "ANA! ANA ARE YOU HOME?!" She smiled at the sound of Stiles' voice and opened her door before he could get to it, watching as he fell in. "Yeah you are." She giggled and threw her blankets over some books and smiled at him.

"What's up Sty?" He gave her a sheepish grin and coaxed her forward. "Let's get the hell out of here, come on." He grabbed her hand and they both ran down the stairs. "Do you really have to drag me everywhere?" Stiles nodded and locked the door behind them as they left. "I don't, but I like feeling in control."

She rolled her eyes and jumped into his jeep with no hesitation. There was a moment of silence as they drove off before Stiles spoke again. "It's been a lonely summer without you Ana. I'm really glad you decided to come back." She took his hand and smiled sweetly. "As much as I loved each day in New York, Beacon Hills is my home." Adveana let him go and sighed, sinking further into the seat. "And you are my family Sty."

"Where are we going exactly?" Stiles shrugged but didn't glance her way. "Uh, nowhere." Adveana leaned up in her seat and tilted her head to the side. "Stop the Jeep Stiles." For a moment, he debated over stopping or just ignoring her, but he thought of her stopping it herself, scared him. "Scott wanted to hang out, and make it a surprise. You know I'm bad at that." She searched his face before leaning against the window. "You are bad at a lot of things pig sty."

She giggled to herself and the ride became silent. Adveana found things to keep her occupied while Stiles drove along to the music. Every so often, he'd find her levitating something in her hand before letting it fall.

When they got to their destination, Stiles helped her out and they walked in to Moes. She sat down in a booth and Stiles scooted her closer to the wall. "I should've texted Isaac to meet us here. I haven't seen him today." She went to get her phone but Stiles stopped her. "Don't worry. He's going to be here. Calm down hot pants."

Adveana laughed and nodded softly. "Sorry, I went the entire summer without him. I just want him with me all the time now." Pretty soon, Adveana watched as Scott and Alison sat across from her. Adveana's warm smile became cold in an instant. "I didn't sign up for this." She turned to Stiles as she grabbed her things. "Move."

He took her hands and Scott spoke up. "Ana, she came to apologize to you." Alison nodded with a slight smile but Adveana glared at them all. "Oh yeah, almost killing my boyfriend by stabbing him 20 times with daggers was no biggie at all. I totes forgive you." She spoke sarcastically as she eyed Alison.

Scott reached over and took the hand Stiles didn't hold down. "Ana, stop. Let her speak." Adveana snatched her hands back and folded her arms across her chest. "You've got 2 minutes. GO." Alison took a deep breath and spoke quietly. "I'm sorry Adveana. I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I wasn't myself. My grandfather was manipulating me. It wasn't like killing them was everything I wanted. Ok? Besides, you took a page out of my book and left too."

Adveana scoffed and shook her head. "You left to repent for almost killing 3 innocent teenagers, who by the way, didn't kill anyone. OH, I know about the code that your family failed to follow. You can control yourself, but you chose not to. I can't. I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't want to be burdened with the fact that my powers could kill someone. I left to seek help, not forgiveness."

As she spoke things began to lift off the table. "You see that? I can control that. I do that because I want to show you who you're messing with exactly. You come after anyone in my pack again, and I won't hesitate to take everything within my sight to kill you. You got that Alison? Because it became personal the day you tried to take the sunlight out of my world."

Adveana turned to Stiles and they all watched as her eyes flashed. "Move Stiles." He was suddenly slid away from her harshly as she got to her feet. "I will never accept your apology. So don't come to me for anything." Scott got up and took her wrist. "You can't just deny someone forgiveness Ana." The way her eyes looked at him, he had to admit he was scared.

"I can't forgive someone who stabbed my boyfriend, and shot me with arrows." She used to free hand to show him the scar on her arm. "This is not a reminder that I wanted. You don't have any that show, but me? I'm human. If I'm around her, I'll have far more than this." She sighed and hugged Scott softly. "I can't. I'm sorry Scott." He nodded and let her go. Alison looked between the boys and bit her lip. "She's never going to forgive me is she?" Stiles gave her a sullen smile as he shook his head. "The old Ana would've, but this Ana? She's been hurt too many times." They ordered food as they sat there silently.

Adveana had her arms crossed as Isaac pulled in. Immediately, Isaac wrapped his arms around her and gave her a tight squeeze, lifting her off the ground. "I love you." When he pulled back, he watched as a smile spread across her face. "I love you too." He handed her his spare helmet and Adveana looked at him with a small smile on her face. "I'm so glad I have you."

He couldn't say anything as she slipped it on and waited for him to do the same. It was the moments like that, that left him speechless. She would say something so simple that left a huge impact on him. Returning her smile, he jumped on in front of her and took off towards Derek's loft. Derek had a plan for them, and they needed to prepare for it.

"Isaac, you can't be there." Derek looked at the younger wolf and watched as his eyes sprouted fire. "If I can't be there, who's going to protect her?!" Adveana took his hand and smiled at them both. "I won't go. You have Scott and Peter. I just got Isaac back and I'm not going to lose him." She then to turned to Isaac and squeezed his hand tighter. "Also, while on that subject… Why in the absolute hell didn't you tell me that the alpha pack tried to kill you when you were in the hospital? WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE IN THERE?!"

Isaac shrank a little and Adveana felt bad for raising her voice but she had gotten a little upset. Peter chuckled and put his hand on her shoulder. "Maybe because you weren't together at the time? But that's the past." He looked at Derek and Adveana shrugged his hand off her shoulder. "You still creep me out."

Isaac let out a little chuckle as she looked at Peter with wide eyes. "You're like a living zombie. Total contradiction. It's scary. Sorry." Letting go of her boyfriend, she walked over to where Derek was. "Ok, so are we going to train or not?" Derek growled and came after her.

Isaac had to fight the urge to jump out to protect Adveana. He watched as she threw something at Derek and ran past him at an incredibly fast speed. Derek looked impressed as he caught up to her. "Been training hard over the summer."

Adveana levitated something behind him, letting it fly at the back of his head. "You're a lot stronger than that. Don't hold back Adveana." She gave him a slight smirk and shook her head. "I'd rather not kill you today Derek." She stopped him before she could advance on her and then silently gathered her things. "I don't feel up to this. I'm just going to walk home ok Isaac?"

leaning over as she got closer, she lifted herself up to kiss him softly. "I love you." He smiled and took a deep breath. That feeling of comfort began to take over as her scent filled his nose. "I love you too. Be careful." Adveana nodded and walked away quietly. She didn't feel like being there any longer. In a room full of wolves, they were bound to catch her lies.

"Jared, what's this?" Adveana sat her bag on the floor as she sat across from her father at the table. "It's time for you to decide Adveana. I think it's time I told you how far your powers can go." She tilted her head to the side and bit her lip. "Where there is light, there is also darkness. Mom put in her journal that she would have me choose. Choose between abusing my powers, or letting them go."

Jared looked at her as his hands held two books. "That's right." He sighed and watched his daughter look at the table uneasily. "Explain it to me Jared." He smiled at her willingness to listen and took a deep breath. "This book, teaches you all the downfalls of your power. Its everything we know. Both sides of your family. A collected work of dark works." He slid it forward and expected her to go for it, only to find her eyes looking at him.

"And the other?" He looked down at it before speaking softly. "Well, you should already know the answer to that." He slid the other book forward and Adveana looked at them both. "It teaches me the good right? Like I already didn't know that." She rolled her eyes to herself and Jared couldn't help but chuckle at her. "Which will you choose Adveana?"

Adveana stood in the kitchen, testing out her powers as Stiles sat at the table looking at her. "Do you ever think about telling Papa Stilinski what we are?" Her black orbs looked at him curiously as she tapped a floating pot away from her face. "We? Last I checked I was human." She giggled and started working on dinner. "I'm human too Stiles. But you know what I mean."

Stiles sighed and looked at his fingers. "I do think about it a lot." There was a moment of silence and Adveana used that time to put back what she didn't need. "But I already lost my mom.. I .. I can't lose both of my parents ya know?" She looked at him and before he could say anything, he was being dragged towards her.

"I'm your family too Stiles. Always. Since I was brought here. If something happens, then I'll always have a place for you, like you and your father have had for me. But we both know, with a family of werewolves and one super powerful mega hot human me, oh and a hunter and her friend, then he'll be safe." He smiled and hugged her tightly as he was suddenly stopped in front of her.

"You have to stop doing that. It makes my body feel weird." She blushed and nodded. "Sorry. It's out of habit. I haven't been thinking, just doing." The front locked clicked and they quickly separated. The sheriff walked in and looked at them both. "Oh Adveana, I should've told you not to worry about dinner tonight. I've got work."

She smiled and shook her head. "It's ok. Leftover won't kill ya Papa Stilinski." He laughed and nodded in agreement. "I only came to grab some paperwork. You guys keep out of trouble." He walked off and they waited with bated breath as he grabbed his things and left.

Stiles gave her a smirk and grabbed his own keys. "I'm nothing but trouble. In or out Ana?" Adevana looked at the food on the stove and shook her head. "I'm out today Sty. But I'll be there for the next one." He left without saying another word and Adveana stood there staring into her food. "I guess I'm making dinner for 6 and eating alone."

In the moments that followed, she ate alone. She brought the fork to her lips as she turned a page in her book. The doorbell went off and brought her out of the protective bubble of words that she had wrapped herself in. Opening the door, she found Allison standing there holding her arms. "What do you want?"

A scowl formed on her face as she watched the brunette eye her. "I need your help." Adveana closed the door a little with a roll of her eyes. "I don't have any want or need to help you." Just as she was about to close it completely, Allison stopped it with her foot. "Scott could get hurt. Along with Derek and his pack. We need to help them."

Adveana turned back to her and bit her lip. The thought of Isaac being hurt again, after just recovering from his last encounter with the alphas made her worry. She pulled Allison inside and hovered everything around her. "Don't touch anything. I need to get dressed."

Running upstairs, she got dressed quickly and grabbed a dagger Jared gave her, tucking it into her boot. She calmly came down and saw Allison in the same spot, with a worried expression on her face. The objects fell and Adveana sighed. "Let's go."

The drive to the wherever they were going was too silent for Adveana. "I know you don't really like me, I understand that. If you would've tried to kill Scott, I'd hate you too. But we have to put aside our differences and help them. I have a bad feeling about all of this, about the alpha pack and what's going on. I don't want anyone to get hurt." Adveana glanced at her and narrowed her eyes. "You promised your father that you would live a normal life from now on. You're no longer a hunter."

Allison nodded and bit her lip. "There's something being kept from me and I know that it has something to do with what's happening right now." The silence was growing as Adveana tried to gather her thoughts. "Why do you need my help?" The older girl looked at the smaller and tried to crack a smile. "Because you're stronger than I am."

That was nothing to smile about. It was true. If Adveana got angry enough, she could break Allison's neck without having to touch her. She nodded and looked at her fingers. "Are we there yet?" The car slowed as they parked the car. Adveana saw the marks on Allison's arm and she caught that. "I knew this was familiar when I saw it."

Adevana looked at her and tilted her head. "It looks like half of the insignia of the abandoned bank in town. Why is that there?" Alison narrowed her eyes at her. "I should've come to you first. I have had this for days." Both girls gave a solemn giggle before getting out of the car. "I think that's where the Alpha pack is. I just need your help to make sure no one gets hurt."

They silently agreed and began trudging their way towards the abandoned building. Adveana had her eyes on everything. She was going to protect them both without another question. She didn't want to have to explain to Scott that she willingly let Allison get killed.

Just as they were getting into the creepier part of the vault, Marin stopped them both and held them against the wall. "What are you both doing here? It's dangerous!" Adveana couldn't speak as she shoved them into a closet. "Stay here, until I tell you it's clear? Got that?" They nodded and held their breaths.

They could hear as more footsteps walked past the door. One stopped and Adveana could feel the danger. Without hesitation, she pointed to the bottle of ammonia next to Allison and watched a she shoved a towel under the door and spilt it to cover their scents. The footsteps continued and they looked around the room.

What Adveana saw, stopped her heart. Allison covered her mouth to keep from screaming, and Adveana let the tears fall. Erica's body was propped against the shelves, and they watched as her head rolled forward. "Adveana…" Allison tried to stop her, but something was holding her back. She walked towards her friend, kneeling before her body. "Erica.. Erica .." She moved the hair away from her face and bit her lip, trying to stifle the loud cry she desperately wanted to let out.

"I'm so sorry that I couldn't find you sooner. I'm sorry that I was too late." Getting to her feet, she looked at Allison. "If your family weren't after them, they never would've felt the need to run, to be safe." She pushed her aside as she opened the door.

The coast was clear as they walked down the hall they were traveling down. Adveana was trying to fight the urge to kill everything in her path. She needed to get to the alpha pack. She needed to kill them all for doing this to her friend. When they heard the fighting, ran towards it. They found Derek and Scott fighting Boyd and another female wolf.

Adveana noticed the mountain ash and was about to move it when Derek yelled for her to stop. "DON'T! They'll kill everyone in their path." Adveana looked at him and stepped forward. "I'm not letting them kill you." She hovered what was around her and caught the attention of Boyd and the she wolf. When they were coming after her, she turned to Allison. "NOW."

Allison parted the ash and they ran past her. Adveana ran to Derek and looked at his wounds. "Why, do you always, always get your ass handed to you Derek?" She watched as he winced when her fingers pressed against an open, healing wound on his arm. "Why don't you ever listen to me?! They're going to kill everything that gets in their way!" Adveana looked at him, her face grim. "Then I'll stop them. Until then, we.. We have to…" Stopping herself she noticed the look on his face. "Erica. I smell her on you."

Adveana brought her hand to her sides and looked down. She nodded towards the door and he bolted, slight hope in his eyes. Scott looked at her and began talking to Allison. "What do you think you're doing? You need to stay out of this Allison." He then turned to Adveana. "And you said you weren't going to help her."

She spoke quietly, as they all walked out of the holding cell. "I didn't want to lose anyone. I didn't think I would but.." They all looked up as Derek came walking back, cradling Erica's body. Tears once again began falling from her eyes. "But I already lost my sister. I wasn't about to start losing my brothers too." She walked over to Derek and began to cry into Erica's body.

"This isn't what I wanted to come here for. I didn't want to find her dead. I didn't want to find any one dead at all." She looked up at Derek and saw that his face, held no emotion, but his eyes, his eyes were mourning the loss of his pack member though no tear fell. "Tell me what's going on. If you want my help, then tell me." She whispered softly to him. "I don't want to lose Isaac too."

Derek looked at her harshly. "You have to make a choice right now Adveana. You can't say you're in the pack and then refuse to do anything I tell you to do. It'll get you killed. Are you going to start listening to me?" She nodded and held her hand over Erica's. "I will."
