(recently..)

it was late the night when Crona finely left the class room were she had finely finished alphabetizing the classrooms miniature library, the sun had gone down and the high-desert city breathed stiff icy winds threw channels of cobblestone streets. Cold tendrils that beat bystanders into submission like the brutal armed forces of the gods. The wend blew at a speed of seventy miles per-hour, enough for heavy debris to be flown threw the air like cardbord. Crona walked threw the hall and zipped up her jacket looking to the courtyard of the DWMA. She knew that it was windy, she knew that it was perhaps dangerous to brave the streets, but in her new found confidence in life she sometimes had lapses in judgment. The wend howled like a suffering beast seeding a chill up her spine as she opens the door, wend immediately blew her hair vertical the wind stung her eyes forcing gray tears to form blinding her, she made a step at as soon as she did she was lifted right off of her feat by a gust of wend that slam'd her to the ground and drug her on the stone floor, she looked up for a moment and caught herself on a lamp post. She clung on for what seemed like a lifetime being clawed and beaten by the wind as it only grew steadier and stronger, when suddenly she felt a hand, a large hand bigger than any she had known the touch, it wrapped around her forearm with the was like a twig in its cold stone grip that would never let go. It pulled her up and away from the lamp. Crona saw thew her shuttered eyes the tall gay man who she feared had come to her rescue. "what are you doing out here? You'll freeze to death." Sid was unmoved by the wind standing like a tall pillar of obsidian. Crona said nothing in response, Sid grunted "alright hold on." he he placed her over his shoulder and pulled them both threw the storm, his foot slipped causing him to stumble, his grip around Crona loosened and she began to be carry'd by the wind. He grabbed her again tight. "kid you could rely stand to get some meat on your bones!" Crona was silent still. He wrapped his hand around the handle of the door and pry'd it open against the wind, he muscled his way in and the door slammed behind them.

Crona didn't look at him in the eye, she was embarrassed at her mistake, that she cost him so much effort. "Im s- sorry..." she stutterd fidgeting in her old half forgotten habit. "its okay. We bight off more than we can chew some times, its how we learn. And learning is half the battle." he smirked. "thank you.." she said something else but it wasn't audible. "i...have to use the bathroom." she backed away then turned and ran down the hall. "man that kid totally hates me.."

Crona ran far into the halls until she was sure he wouldn't fallow, the nearest room was the cafeteria, she went in but found it was to dark to see, she saw the coke vending machine in the darkness and she fallowed its glow, the darkness still frightened her bringing back memory's of her childhood terrors, she focused on the light of the vending machine as she edged even closer knowing that once she reached it she could do nothing else but shit in the pail glow until the sun arose unless she were to venture back into the suffocating darkness and face Sid out in the halls. She reached the machine and dropped to her knees, and curled up. She resigned herself to spending the entire night trapped in that one spot. Suddenly the lights came on around her the florescent lights that blanket the cafeteria shredded the darkness into oblivion. Sid stood at the door. "what are you doing?" Crona looked "how did you find me?" you were moaning like a banshee...it was kind of ere." Crona curled herself up tighter. "so you'd rather spend your time alone in a dark room?" Crona was quite for a moment. "no." "then come on, talk or somethin.."

Crona looked up at him "what do you want me to say?" "you can say anything you want I just want to know why your afraid of talking to me, I already told you I don't eat brains I'm not a shuffler." "you wont like it, its my dumb problem." Sid sat at one of the tables. "if its something I can help with then spit it out already." Crona made a face like she had given up. "okay.." he softened the look on his face. "i know how hard you work around here to make sure that students are fit for duty, I want to do my best around you, I want to be my best, but I'm afraid my best isn't enough." she paused "you saw me out there..i was to week to save myself and you had to come all the way out there to save me." "kid its not like that." "I want to proov that I'm a capable person, and if I can proov it to you anyone can believe it." Sid looked at her and let out a sigh. "you don't have to proov anything to anyone. What matters is if its good enough for you. So is it?" Crona hesitated then nodded "there, now isn't that liberating?" she smiled "yeah." they both sat for a moment reflecting and the Crona spoke up. "iv got a question for you." "yeah whats that?" Sid looked. "did you know..that my blood is black?"

"smile." Maka giggled with the camera to her eye. Crona made a large toothy grin. "no rely come on." Crona made a real smile, after a second the bright flash blinded Crona making her eyes quickly warp into the shrunken black state and then back again to there normal white orbs. Maka looked at the screen, the picture of her standing in front of the fountain put punctuation to the day they spent alone in the park . "there, that ones going in the scrap book." she took Crona's hand. "maybe ill send it to my mother, iv told her all about you." Crona had a small smile as she was pulled along by Maka. "ware did you say she was?" Maka shrugged, "you never know ware she is,she travels a lot, sends me a postcard every chance she gets. I haven't seen her in a few months and you never know where shes going to turn up." to be honest Crona never liked that, how her mother could just run off and have the time of her life traveling around the world, but Maka didn't seem to mind so Crona didn't think it was any of her business.

It was a few hours after they left the park that they decided to stop for something to eat, it was at "Cafe Blue" where Maka and her mother used to frequently have lunch together and now she wanted to share the sentiment with Crona. After the meal Maka had gotten up to use the bathroom, Crona prepared for the wait as Maka usually took her leaserly time with bathroom trips. The waiter casually walked by and set the check on the table. Crona dug her wallet from a hidden pocket in her road and placed the money in the book leaving a precisely calculated tip. "paying for dinner yourself? Wow that's old fashiond. I like that. " she herd a voice like Maka's but somehow different, she looked up to see a blond woman leaning on the table. "i was just passing by, I thought id say hi." 'she looks just like...' the woman reached her hand out. "your shaking hands these days aren't you?" Crona timidly shook the woman's hand. "she's done a nice job with you I can tell. That's my daughter, shes such a strong at her age, she can take care of herself and others, she doesn't need me." Crona stood shaking. "h- hold on ill be right back." the woman smiled and nodded, Crona turned to see Maka returning. "Maka!" she ran up and took her by the hand "Crona whats going on?!" "l- look!" she pointed to their table but no one was there, the women had disappeard. "Crona?" Maka asked concerned if she was having some sort of hallucination. "whats..that?" Maka pointed to the table. There was an envelope. Crona shuffled over and picked it up, she shuffled back and handed it to Maka with both hand. "i think..its meant for you." "for me?" Maka looked at it with bewilderment. She sat down at the table and took out the butter knife in the silverware set, she opened the envelope and took out its contents. "what is it?" Crona asked with anticipation, Maka smiled and looked at the slip of paper. "a post card..from Death City California.."
