Mike and Jenna showed up at the hospital and she took his hand. "It's going to be fine. I promise you." He nodded as they walked up to the reception desk. "We're here to see Dani Cena. Dr. Orton is expecting us."
"Of course." The receptionist said handing them the badges. "Dr. Orton will meet you at the main desk."
"Thank you." Jenna said as they headed back. She looked over at Mike and squeezed his hand. "Let's go see your sister." He nodded and they walked through the doors.
Randy looked up as they walked toward him. "Mr. Mizanin and Jenna. I'm glad you came."
"How is she?" Mike asked. "I mean really?"
"She's hanging in." Randy replied. "She is at the place where she's lost in her mind in a way. But she is holding on to some reality."
Mike sighed. "I was afraid of this."
"I know." Randy replied. "But we are watching her closely. It was my idea that you come and see her."
"When can I see her?"
"Let me see if she's up from her nap and talk to John." Mike nodded as Randy walked to isolation.
Jenna squeezed his hand again. "It'll all be okay."
"I hope so." He said to her. He looked around the place and sighed. It was nicer than the last one she was in. "You picked a nice place for her."
"Well this hospital and Dr. Orton and his staff are the best. They have made some groundbreaking developments."
Mike sighed and nodded. "I just hope that they come through it alright."
She took his hand. "They will." She said as Randy walked up with John.
"Alright. You can see her." Randy said to him. "But know she might not have any idea you're there."
Mike looked at Jenna who nodded and he sighed and followed Randy toward her room. He looked inside the room and saw Dani on the bed rocking back and forth. He knew she was humming. He looked at John.
"Don't upset her." John said to him. Mike nodded and walked into the room.
He slowly made his way over to his sister. "Dani?" He said softly. She looked up at him.
"Stay back." She said to him. "You can't take my baby. I won't let you."
"I'll be there for you, when the rain starts to fall, I'll be there for you like I've been there before I'll be there for you because you're there for me too." He sang as he stood by the door. It had been his way of connecting with her before. It was always the Friends Theme song. He noticed her looking at him.
"Mike?" She said softly.
"Yes." He said walking closer to her.
"They wanna take my baby Mike."
"They won't get the chance." He said softly as he sat by her. "You have a lot of people here to make sure that doesn't happen."
She looked at him. "But they said no one can stop them. You know what the voices want, they get."
"But we can fight them. You've got to for your baby."
She looked at him. "I don't know I can." She said softly. "I feel alone." She said as she hugged herself the best she could with her being pregnant. She slowly started rocking back and forth. "I can't block them anymore."
"The baby will help you do that. You just keep your focus on that baby." He said slowly placing his arm around her. "You are doing this for the baby remember that. You wanted this baby so much and that's what you focus on."
She looked at him "What if I can't? What if I can't do this? What if they win?" She looked around the room "They're everywhere." She whispered.
He took her hand. "You've got me and John and Jenna to help you fight them. We won't let them take your baby."
She nodded and continued rocking back and forth. He sighed and headed out of the room. He was met by Jenna, John and Randy. "How did it go?" John asked him.
"As well as can be expected I guess."
Randy nodded. "We have a few more weeks before we can deliver the baby and guarantee he will survive."
"How many exactly?"
"Six at the least, fourteen at most. I would prefer at least eight more weeks but more would be better."
"When can you take him and guarantee they will both make? No estimations, no how much time would be ideal...concrete set in stone, when can you do it?" Mike said looking at Randy.
"When she is 32 weeks. At 32 weeks, he has an excellent chance of surviving. That will be in fourteen weeks."
"Then we will have to help her hang on that long."
"I agree." Randy replied. He looked at Mike. "I told John and Jenna this. I know she's slipping and rapidly. But I don't want to take the baby too soon. If he were to died because we took him too soon, she would never recover. I strongly believe she would be in here forever if that happens. And I want to prevent that."
"Then let's do what we have to do to make that happen. To make sure she survives this."
"That is the plan." He said as Cody walked up. "And it seems it's time for her weekly exam. So, why don't you head down to the cafeteria? It will take a little while." Mike nodded and he and Jenna headed toward the cafeteria.
They sat down and he looked at her. "I knew this was going to be hard." He said to her.
"All we can do now is be there for her." He nodded and took a drink of his soda. Afterward, they headed back to the room. And saw John standing there.
"Is everything okay?" Mike asked him.
"Yes. Everything with the baby is right on schedule."
"And he's healthy?"
"Yes, John, your son is very healthy. He is right on schedule." He nodded. "She was asking for you."
"Thank you." John said as he walked toward the room. He waited for the nurse to open the door before he walked in.
Mike looked at the doctor. "So, this means you can take the baby soon right? If he's on schedule?"
"Provided everything keeps going the way it's supposed to, yes." He looked at him. "We are still in for a long road. And we have to just take one day at a time."
Mike sighed and nodded. "Don't worry. I know she will be okay." Jenna said to him.
"Yeah. I just worry." He replied.
"I know but these doctors are the best and they will make sure." He nodded and looked through the window at John and Dani. Questions swirled in his head. Would she even make it to the date the doctors hoped? Or would she descend too quickly and he would lose her and his nephew? Only time would answer them.
