„Karkat, ich glaube dass ich bin schwanger," sagt Sollux, "Und Aradia ist den Vater!"
„Tavros ist fehlend!" Vriska sagt mit falsche Sorge.
„Um, nein, ich bin hier," Tavros sagt.
„Halt's Maul Tavros! Du bist fehlend!" sie sagt.
„Karkat, ich glaube dass ich bin schwanger," sagt Sollux, "Und Gamzee ist den Vater!"
„Feferi! So du hast Equius geschossen!" John war bestürzt.
„Ja, es war mir!" Feferi sagt.
„Warum?" fragt Nepeta.
~Gl'golyb
Karkat entered his home. He had just returned from work and he was ready to eat some dinner then sit down and relax and watch some good old television. He then stopped to see a bum asleep on his couch. Oh wait that was Sollux. Karkat felt his anger bubbling up. It was 7:53 PM.
"You're still asleep?!" he exclaimed. He shook Sollux. Sollux continued snoring. "Wake up you dumbass!" The snoring, drooling dumbass was out cold. Then Karkat decided that he was fed up with all this bullshit and snapped. "THAT IS IT!" Karkat then tipped the couch and Sollux came tumbling off the sofa and into the wooden table. Sollux was awake after that.
"Ow! What the fuck man?" Sollux groaned rubbing his now bleeding forehead.
"Did you sleep all day?! It's almost 8!" Karkat scolded.
"I don't have work," he grumbled, "At least wake me up at noon."
"Noon has already passed shitlord! It's 8 PM!" Karkat growled. Sollux put on his glasses and looked out the window.
"Oh, so it is..." he replied. He then lied back down on the floor and was about to fall back asleep. Enraged and frustrated by his behavior, Karkat gave him a sharp kick in the side. Sollux coughed a bit and sat up. "Okay I'm awake," he coughed.
"I think you should start thinking about moving out," said Karkat. Sollux sighed.
"I don't know where I'd–"
"You have got to apologize to Aradia. Maybe she'll take your sorry ass in for a few days," interrupted Karkat, "I've hosted your ass here for far too long. I know you're going through some sort of depression or whatever, but it's been six fucking weeks Sollux! I need an answer!"
"You just don't get it K–"
"Oh I'm pretty sure I fucking get it!" Karkat snapped, "I get that you're a moody lazy ass that's slowly becoming an alcoholic again! And where does that ass live? On MY couch! In MY house!"
"I know I should apologize, I already told you why I can't," Sollux stood up.
"You have to do it eventually or else you never will you worthless crotchstained barfpuppet!" Karkat reminded.
"Do I have to do it?" Sollux asked, "I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to see my stupid face again."
"I know I don't," interjected Karkat.
"Maybe I should just forget about it. I'm not even sure that I want to be a part of this. After all, It's not really my problem and I don't want to deal with–" Karkat cut Sollux off by socking him in the face. Sollux was knocked to the floor from the strong blow and hit the floor hard. He felt the metallic taste of blood fill his mouth. He began to spit and cough.
"Get...out..." Karkat was seething with anger. Sollux checked his mouth for the source of the bleeding.
"OW! What the hell?!" he spat out something, "I'm missing like five teeth!" He held three bloody molars in the palm of his hand.
"You fucking selfish dickwhiffer! Get the fuck out of my fucking house!" Karkat raged.
"Woah dude, I'm sorry! Chill!" Sollux asked, "It was just a thought! All I said was–"
"I know what you said," growled Karkat, "Get out of here and don't ever come back! Until you have apologized, don't even think of talking to me again you ungrateful piece of shit!" Sollux then pocketed his teeth and scrambled to get up. He then looked at Karkat. Karkat scowled at him. Sollux then dashed out the door.
When the door shut Karkat took a deep breath. He turned around to find Gamzee standing in the doorway, eyes wide in shock. He sighed.
"You see all that?" Karkat asked.
"Only from when you kicked him," he replied, "What's up with Solbro?"
"Gamzee...it's complicated," sighed Karkat, "You wouldn't understand."
Aradia was about to go to bed. She looked at the clock. 10:07 PM. She had just put on her pajamas which were getting rather tight. Her 'pajamas' were basically just a tshirt and flannel pants. Her stomach wasn't sticking out of the shirt but the pants were stretched a little bit. She sighed. I better not let Kanaya see me like this. She'll make me new pajamas even before I out grow these! She's done way too much for me already! She smiled. She liked Kanaya and Rose. Though it had only been a week, they already began to feel like family. Kanaya was like that aunt that's super nice and gets you anything you want, but Aradia felt that she sometimes spoiled her a bit. She didn't treat her like a kid, but practically was prepared to wait on her hand and foot. Rose was more mellow. She was there to calm Kanaya down and give Aradia some peace. She was very fun to talk to and very interesting. She could relate to her well. The two made her forget all her troubles and had made their way into her heart.
After brushing her teeth, she pulled back the covers and slid into bed. She yawned. I better get some rest. I'm sure I'm in for another fun filled day with Kanaya tomorrow. Rose said the fashion day should coming up soon. That'll be tiring! Or are they coming on Monday? Either way, I should try to sleep. She then let her eyes close. Only to open them again at the sound of the doorbell.
She groaned. Ugh, I don't feel like getting up. I'm not expecting anyone, who would come to my house of all places? She sat up. Oh boy, if I'm going to get bigger, that's going to be a problem. She slid out of bed and then made her way downstairs. Terezi must have locked herself out again. But didn't she say she was spending the night at her new boyfriend's? It must be those stupid neighborhood kids. They already got me once this week. She finally opened the door.
"Sorry about that. I was…" Aradia stopped. The person at the door was no kid, Terezi, nor sales person. The person wore a very casual black sweatshirt and jeans despite it being very humid out. Nothing special. The hood was up but the streetlights illuminated a glare from his glasses. The guy was also bleeding from the side of his mouth and had a gash on his forehead.
"Hey," he said breaking the silence.
"Oh my God what happened to your mouth?!" Aradia exclaimed.
"It's a long story..." Sollux replied, "Listen I'm–"
"Sollux," she stopped him, "You're bleeding. Come in and let me fix you up." He hesitantly stepped inside.
She dashed upstairs for a minute and came back down with a first aid kit.
"So how did this happen again?" she asked.
"KK punched me in the face," he replied, "I deserved it though. Who knew losing three teeth could cause so much blood loss? Eheheheh… shit…" Aradia began to clean up his wounds and put his teeth in a glass of milk. Soon his head was all bandaged up and his mouth was full of cotton. There was an awkward silence for a moment. The two sat at the kitchen, staring at each other. Aradia kept examining Sollux's disheveled appearance. He looked like a mess and the blood didn't help. His hair was greasy and unkept. He looked pretty dirty. He looked like a hot mess. Sollux kept examining Aradia's appearance. She was bigger than the last time he saw her and she looked like she was about to go to bed. She just looked very tired in general. Aradia noticed his staring and decided to break the awkwardness.
"They're twins," she informed.
"Yeah I know," replied Sollux.
"Wait you know?"
"My family has a very long history of twins. I'd be surprised if there wasn't two even though that's not how genetics work. It's dumb luck like the rest of my family," he replied, "Also ff told me."
"Oh, well that explains that," she giggled. More silence.
"So why did you get punched in the mouth?" Aradia asked.
"I said something stupid," he replied, "Listen. It may be hard to understand me due to all the cotton in my mouth and my stupid fucking lisp, but I am so…so sorry about how I acted. I know you're going to say it's okay, but it's not. It's all my fault. But now, I'm here when you need me. And if you don't, I'll…just leave you alone." Aradia stood there for a moment in shock and shook her head.
"What about Feferi?" she asked.
"She broke up with me," he said.
"I'm Sorry," she replied.
"Well, what can you do?" Sollux asked.
"She doesn't know about us yet, does she?" she stated. He shook his head.
"What about Equius?" Sollux asked.
"He knows," she replied, "Well, he knows it's not his anyways. He left."
"You haven't told him about me?" he asked.
"I haven't told anyone about you," she admitted, "I'm going to get something to eat."
"Need help getting up?" Sollux offered. Aradia stood up easily.
"I'm not that fat yet." She then went over to the fridge and pulled out leftover pizza and blackberry marmalade.
"Have you found out what you want to do yet? I mean, are we keeping them?" Sollux asked.
"Kanaya and Rose are adopting them. They've wanted children for a long time and I think they deserve it," she replied. He smiled.
"I told you we'd get through this," he said. She smiled. That smile then turned into a yawn.
"You tired?" Sollux asked.
"I was in bed when you knocked on the door," she said.
"Shit. I'm so sorry."
"That's okay. You need a place to stay tonight?" Aradia asked.
"I'll just go home," he replied, "Or I guess I'll find a hotel or something since I don't know if I can get into my apartment."
"You're in no condition to drive. Terezi's out. You can have her room. It'll be just like the sleepovers we used to have as kids!" Aradia started getting excited. Sollux was about the opposite. "Please?" Sollux sighed.
"Fine." Aradia smiled.
"Remember when we were kids?" Aradia asked, "Whenever my dad and your grandpa and their gang would get together we would have a sleepover?"
"And then whenever you were living with Damara's dad, you'd sneak in through my window?" Sollux recalled.
"Yeah. Once you did that," said Aradia, "Then we'd build a fort if you were at your grandpas or my house. And then we would stay up all night eating candy and talking about–"
"God knows what," Sollux cut in, "Then if we were at my house, I'd cover you up with a bunch of pillows and blankets so my parents wouldn't find you. Or I'd hide you under my bed."
"Or in your closet," reminded Aradia, "Or you'd wake me up and I'd jump out the window. Oh! And you used to have those nightmares and I had to wake you up and calm you down."
"Yeah. That was fun until i moved," said Sollux, "And my dad thought that we'd start fucking each other."
"Well, I guess he was right," she laughed, "Alcohol was what he should have kept you away from. He kept that stuff wide open."
"Yeah," sighed sollux. The two stood in silence reminiscing their childhood.
"Well, good night Sollux," yawned Aradia.
"Good night AA," he replied. The two then went to their rooms and shut the doors.
Karkat was asleep. He normally slept very lightly and never had dreams. He unexpectedly awoke to some sound. He brushed it off and shifted to lying on his back. He drifted off again. The next time he awoke, he had a weight on top of him. When he opened his eyes, he was face to face with a terror with gleaming, sinister, red eyes. He yelped. He turned on the lamp. The red eyes were revealed to be glasses in front of sightless eyes. The terror smiled.
"What the actual twerking fuck are you doing here?!" Karkat softly yelled, "It's 12:37 AM!"
"You told me a certain someone left your house," she said, "I know exactly where he's heading, so I thought I'd give the two some privacy. That was part of the plan."
"Leaving them alone together was part of the plan. You breaking into my house wasn't," he hissed.
"I didn't break in," she replied, "But that's not the point. I need somewhere to stay so move."
"Oh no! You are sleeping on the couch!" he ordered.
"I'm not sleeping on the couch. My chiropractor said that's bad for my scoliosis!" she complained, "So get out."
"I refuse to give up this bed! I was here first!" he argued.
"Fine then! If you want to be like that then move over," she wriggled her way next to him. Karkat sighed.
"Fine! But stay on your side of the bed. You are such a bed hog," he growled.
"Oh I'm the bed hog?" she scoffed.
"Yes. And you sometimes sleep walk!" he added.
"Well at least I don't snore!" Terezi teased.
"It's a medical condition!"
"Yeah yeah yeah. Now shut up. I want to sleep."
Aradia awoke at the sound of screaming. She sat up quickly. What was that? It wasn't me. But who else is–Sollux! She leaped out of bed as fast as she could and scrambled out the door. She ran to Terezi's room and opened the door. Sollux was there, lightly tossing and turning. He was covered in sweat and had a look of terror on his face. She sighed in relief. She was glad he wasn't in danger or hurt. She gave a mournful expression and removed his blankets. She went to adjust his pillow and that's when the kicking and screaming started. Sollux began flailing rapidly.
"NO! PLEASE STOP! DONT! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT!" he screamed. Aradia began to nudge him a bit.
"Sollux." she called. He kept screaming. "Sollux!" Aradia almost yelled shaking him gently. His eyes snapped open. He began gasping for air. "Are you okay?" Aradia asked. There was no response. He just sat there gasping. "Sollux?" He shook his head. She left the room. She then came back with a glass of water. He nodded a thanks and took a sip. "Better?" He nodded. He then hugged her tightly.
"Thank you…" he croaked.
"You were kicking and thrashing everywhere. It was the least I can do," she replied, "Do you want to talk about it?"
"No," he replied sternly, "Surprisingly I'm still tired as fuck. But there's no way I'm going back to sleep again! Not after that."
"What if I lay with you?" Aradia offered.
"…Isn't that a bit weird?" Sollux asked.
"We used to do it all the time when we were kids," said Aradia. Sollux paused.
"…Okay…" Aradia smiled. She crawled in next to him. Their two stared at each other for a while. Sollux then broke the silence.
"So…how's being pregnant?" he asked.
"Oh I'm having a great time!" Aradia remarked, "My back is killing me, I'm about twice as moody, I can barely sleep, I had to replace all my bras, and my entire body is so sore."
"I am so sorry."
"I know you are," she said, "Oh! just to let you know, Kanaya told me that the rest of these months in supposed to get really…um…moody I guess?"
"Oh fantastic! Now we'll have two moody people around," he commented. She giggled.
"Actually i think I've become you these past few months," she said.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Think about it. You sometimes have that 'don't touch me' attitude, and then other times you have this increased sex drive. You have trouble sleeping. Then there's the headaches. You have certain things that just set you off–"
"Aa I am begging you to stop!" Sollux was bright red at this point. She giggled.
"Okay. I'll stop," then something came to Aradia's mind, "How come you never told me that you still have nightmares?"
"I didn't think it was relevant," he replied, "And they're less frequent. No need to get on my back about it."
"I'm just concerned. You're my best friend Sollux," she said, "I'm just being a friend and looking out for you." Sollux looked at her with remorse.
"AA," he sighed, "After what we've gotten ourselves into, I don't think that we can ever really be just friends anymore." Her face soon matched his. Sollux sighed.
"Aren't you a bit scared about this?" he asked.
"Of course I am," she replied, "Everything is scary in its own way. But I know that there are two loving people who deserve a child. And I'm going to make that happen. I know things will work out in the end."
"But how do you know? How do you know that things won't go horribly wrong?" Sollux asked.
"I don't. I just cross my fingers and hope. It's what I've been doing my whole life," she said. Sollux felt a lot better. And a lot more tired. But he forced his eyes open.
"You tired?" Sollux asked.
"Not really. It's been extremely difficult to fall asleep these days," she replied, "You?" He shook his head. "Do you maybe want to talk?"
"About what?"
"Your dream maybe?"
"Nah. Maybe something else," he replied.
"What do you think they'll look like?" Aradia asked.
"The twins? Probably pretty fucked up," he replied, "Where do I begin? Two toned eyes, glasses, bad teeth that will probably cause them to lisp…"
"Their curly hair will probably become frizzy in the heat," she thought aloud. Sollux smiled a bit.
"I always thought curly hair was kind of cute…" admitted Sollux. Aradia blushed.
"Your lisp is kind of cute…" she replied.
"No it's not. It sounds so stupid!" Sollux replied, "i hate it so much. I wish I could have lost the teeth in the front of my mouth instead of the back."
"Sollux I just realized something..."
"What?"
"When are we going to tell our parents?" The thought struck Sollux like a bolt of lightning.
"Ohhhhh boy…" he started, "Um…why don't we tell your parents first…" Aradia bit her lip.
"Um no thanks…your parents deserve to know first," she suggested.
"No no! It's you who is carrying the kids. Your dad may throw a fit if he doesn't know first," excused Sollux.
"No, I insist we tell your…highly religious parents first," she said.
"Your dad may kill me if he doesn't know first," insisted Sollux.
"He'll kill you regardless," she stated.
"Your dad's awesome and my parents suck!" Sollux complained.
"Fine! But you're coming with me," she growled. Sollux shrugged.
"Maybe he can tell my parents," he said.
"Why do you have so much bitterness towards them?" Aradia asked.
"have you met them at all?" Sollux yawned, "They're not accepting people. Especially my dad…"
"I can see you're tired," she said, "It's pretty late." Sollux yawned again and nodded.
"Good night AA."
"Good night Sollux."
